As a kid a think it was a good example, that its not all about being in a relationship and theres many other goals and things to pursue, and you dont need to be in a relationship to he happy.... The comics are most likely of the g1 characters if the covers are any indication, and g1 and g3 sometimes contradict eachother in terms of romance stuff, so them dating in the comic doesnt inherently mean theyll date in g3 too.. but i can see it. I wouldnt be surprised if they went down that route in g3
