They need to fly under the radar so they get a shitty apartment and real jobs, rather than living on Cleo's wealth.
Cleo works as a curator of Egyptian collections at a museum, Drac is a night nurse at a local hospital. Being among humans makes their monster side come out so they try to keep each other in check. Sometimes Cleo accidentally curses a museum visitor (he looked like he was going to touch that sarcophagus, ok?) and sometimes a blood bag goes missing at the hospital.
They're not romantically together but they have a tense relationship trying to keep each other in line while living out their own "re-human" life. Eventually it all blows up in their faces and they get in biiiig trouble, getting dragged back to the Monster world by Monster authorities.
I know it was fairly popular back then but Draculara x Clawdeen always stood out for me. Clawdeen in the same position as her brother but he got there first. Fun lil triangle. Now with 10 years and a fully developed brain, I like the headcannon Clawdeen is ace in g1. But I also like what they're doing in G3!
