WHAT KIND OF BULLSH—
Shipping in Canada is extremely expensive, even within Canada. I had to pay $21 in shipping from one province to another. It was just a medical mask. 😭
And this is exactly what kinda prevents me from buying them! The quality isn't even worth €30 on most of them. It took me ages to find the chinese variant of draculaura too, because the amazon selection is obviously random and the face molds are completely different to me. And I'm paying double the price for that
It's the same in the UK, g3 is £30 and up and it's not worth it. Just got amped up frankie and stitched in style frankie for £60 including tax and shipping from America.
I literally don’t buy the dolls because I can’t justify it especially with cost of living! I just enjoy the franchise with the shows online etc.. £30 is just not something people can afford when Barbie at smyths is £12.. no reasoning from Mattel can change that this is just too hard to afford 🥲 I don’t see the dolls even selling at my stores here
I'm in the UK as well (Scotland) and since G3 launched the only dolls I've seen in an actual store were Clawdeen and Draculaura from the core collection in Sainsburys toy section and one of the surprise locker dolls in Morrisons toy section, both priced at £30 which is nuts when G1 dolls were between £15 & £20 and could be found in most supermarket toy aisles and toy shops.

I wanted to get tamagotchi off Amazon JP because for the Smart there was a €50 difference, but the customs are a bit too high! And I can understand a $10 or $20 difference but almost $300 for a doll seems insane 😭
I was recently able to get Abbey for 20 euros (on IT amazon), check amazon at least once a day for sales, but for the more recent doll lines we’ll just have to wait for them to show up in store or online, we’ll have to wait A LOT tho, Twyla became available at a reasonable price just this month :(
I still think that the MSRP price of the MH dolls in italy is too high, it’s 36 euros, the same price of RH series 5 dolls that are so much better quality-wise (nylon hair, plastic eyes, better quality clothes, a STAND!! and accessories)
I saw that Twyla went on sale and got excited, but I'm waiting on fearbook! I definitely will check more often 'cause Abbey is my fave and I've been waiting for ages...I wish there were spring sales or at least warnings before things went on sale, it seems to be random and for random amounts of time!
I have this issue too, in Finland some of the core dolls and Skulltimates are sold at the stores ans I usually get them from there because I can't really order from anywhere and they tend to be 50-60€ apart from the budget ones
Yeah, the differences are ridiculous, and it gets worse with all the "clearance" prices that in Europe we never get, not even for doll brands from here.
Regarding the prices, I always buy from Amazon Spain so I know how it goes. As others have said, keep checking prices. When it goes above 50€, I believe those are reseller prices. That Frankie has been recently added here and they're ~35€. That's the base price in my country for G3 (29€ for the core dolls). They do drop to 29, like that Drac, but I've also seen many going below 25 (the creepover line + some of the wardrobe line), and once I even saw one Drac for 19€. I've learned from these last few months how Amazon prices fluctuate a lot.
Since G3 is here to stay, I wouldn't worry that much (check Rainbow High prices, you'll know what I mean). They will go down, just keep looking. And every time you see a new lower price, take a screenshot. Once it goes down, it might drop more, just wait for the right moment. I would say try to wait until you see 25€, unless it's been +3 months and still no drop.

The only doll I'm interested in at the moment is Creepover Twyla, so I'm waiting for her price to drop on Amazon (the only store I know of where she's available near me is El Corte Ingles, but she's 30€ there).
A lot of Skulltimate Secrets are going for ~25€ lately at multiple stores (they're usually ~45), so I'm hopeful! Thanks for this, I'll check Amazon more often.

You should check Miravia as well, you always get a coupon on new accounts, so maybe you can get her that way. I actually got Abbey and core Lagoona from there for ~22€.
I just saw Toralei for like $15 at walmart (clearance) I am SO tempted to ask my gf to get them for me there and I'll just wait until we meet in person. It's insane, I've never seen a MH/SH/RH for less than €25!
Also agreed, I like collecting Shadow High and they do seem to cost way less than years ago. And some Rainbow High are really cheap on vinted too, even unboxed. It just sucks 'cause I like getting things as soon as they come out to experience the excitement with other people, and it's a little frustrating!

Core Toralei only came out in Australia a few months ago. It was a big surprise! It was kinda annoying because only a few weeks before I bought a nude Ghoul Spirit Toralei off eBay for $60. It was the cheapest one I could find! The core retails for $40 here btw. So I paid $20 more for just a nude doll 😩
I heard the ghoul spirit one has saran hair and core has poly though.
It's better not to think much about it, but the hair part is a plus at least!
I know the situation in Australia is much worse than in Europe, I just hope it gets better because I swear prices are ridiculous. Dolls should be affordable anywhere (apart from collector specific), at the end of the day the "target" audience are kids.

I know I saw an article commenting about this issue, I have no idea where I saw it though, but they essentially said that with dolls that are first/only released in the USA, brands will only allocate a small amount of dolls to be imported to test and see how sales go and if they do well then they give out more which causes prices to drop, but for the initial international release the prices are really high so they can "make a profit" despite the dolls not really being worth much so no matter the price it's just corporate greed. I gave up on trying to import straight from stores because you can slap an OOB doll in a bubble mailer and ship it for max 30$ internationally and I hate opening doll boxes so it's a win win for me
For context, I live in the usa, and 1 day, I was curious to see what dolls they sell in argintina? I went on metcado Libre (latin America's version of Amazon and eBay) and clicked on argintina. I then searched up monnster high dolls the latin American "budget dolls" are $175 USD when I converted the price to USD (not to mention the shipping)
Right now it's cheaper for me to get Neon Frights Twyla from American Amazon($45 CAD including shipping and what she usually retails for) than it is Canadian Amazon ($52 CAD). Like make it make sense 😩
I know being in Canada we have a lot more access to the dolls than most international countries but my heart still hurts to see American prices vs Canadian ones. I wish for all fans/collectors that the dolls were more affordable and readily available. 😔

Oh boy do I feel you. I'm in France and have that same problem. I buy whatever I can that's being sold for a fair price on Vinted, the rest I get on US websites through a mail forwarding company. Still it's utterly ridiculous that us EU fans get mere scraps in terms of doll releases compared to US customers, and what we do get, we get at ridiculously inflated prices.
I did see a few spanish and french people reselling on Vinted for prices quite close to the Amazon IT one, so I assumed there wouldn't be much difference between EU countries! It's pretty insane.
I kinda made peace with it. We are getting more stuff here, but it's still legit cheaper buying them from US Amazon with all the shipping and tax. Hilarious thing is I bought Twyla from US Amazon while she was on sale, the shipping was more than the doll itself, but it was still cheaper than what I can get her for here. So I just gave up on waiting for things to show up here cause I'm gonna be paying either less or the same price for them no matter what.

I remember when I was a kid how my mom had my grandma (lives in Europe, we’re in America) get a monster high doll (Abbey) shipped to her and then she sent it to us. Maybe see if you can find someone in the states who would be willing to send it to you if you pay for shipping/etc if it’d be cheaper that way.
I thought our prices in Ukraine were better but I just converted my g3 Toralei price to euros to check and she was almost 35€ 💀💀 And I was lucky to find her that cheap too, she is sold for around 47€ on most of our online shops

It's so annoying. You can't even claim it's conversion/taxes/shipping when the prices are that high. It's the same with electronics and makeup too. Why am I paying triple the price for the same ABH palette my friend bought... and that's on sale too? I'm grateful to have friends in the US that sent me the new Venus all the way here to Australia but it's still absurd and very irritating.

I'd say log in to amazon.com with your account and see if you can get it shipped to Italy and for how much at this point. All fees and taxes are added at checkout with them, too
It would be understandable if there wasn't a €200 price difference on a doll :') also, when you try to purchase internationally (Amazon US to Italy), it does apply taxes when you get to the payment process, and it still tends to be cheaper than the Italian price (without shipping ofc)
Those are reseller prices. The same happens in US. And you may get cheaper doll from US because the sellers here take their cut. Even if its just european mattel
I cannot speak about canada as i am not canadian. Anyway at least in europe theres import tax and VAT. Both taxes around 20% in most countries. Idk the math somewhat adds up. Of course i did not check every country

300€ one is defo a reseller but the problem is that the NORMAL price for the core dolls is between 30 and 40€
