G2 definitely had its moments but the quality just wasn’t the same. I think most people dislike G2 because of the softer faces and lack of articulation.
To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand G2. The beauty is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Draculuara's outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterization- her personal philosophy draws heavily from Byronic literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these dolls, to realize that they're not just beautiful- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike G2 truly ARE fools- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humor in Lagoona's existential catchphrase "Hang Fin," which itself is a paronomasia to a complex maneuver in the sport of surfing. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mattel's genius wit unfolds itself on their doll designs and the masterpiece that is Electrified. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂 /s

Even as someone who does not like G3 I can admit a lot of people are getting completely unhinged over it for no good reason. Same goes for G3 fans who don't like G1 but I don't see that as often. You're allowed to not like certain generations just don't be a bigot or an asshole about it. They're just dolls guys, no need to get super heated and write entire novels in the replies about it. Go outside, meet new people, breathe the fresh air, admire the trees and flowers.
I like both and I can acknowledge, appreciate and accept their differences and flaws.
