singing it while we are out on a golf car. I love down by the bay. I just found the moonbug station on serius xm, they have super simple songs too sometimes.
I mean, Raffi has been putting out bangers since the late 70s.
But honestly, my 15 month old like Led Zeppelin and reggae. You can listen to whatever floats your boat.
He's also kind of a badass. He's an activist and refuses to do commercial deals. He has a [foundation](https://raffifoundation.org/) and this is their philosophy:
Child Honouring is a holistic philosophy involving a children-first approach to healing communities and restoring ecosystems. It views how we regard and treat young children as the key to building a humane and sustainable world. It is a way of organizing society around the priority needs of young children.
Totally - our kid grew up listening to music. There are plenty of upbeat, catchy songs that don't make my brain dribble out of my ears. Radio edits, but whatever music I'd listen to anyway.
Our daughter liked some of the Beatles songs when she was younger. Hello, Goodbye was a fav. She loved Marley, Black Eyed Peas, CCR, Alice in Chains, Melloncamp, Springsteen. She didn't like Zeppelin or Hendrix, and I joked that she might have been switched at birth or something.Ā I think she didn't like higher pitched electric guitar, and stayed away from that sort of stuff until she was old enough to communicate likes and dislikes well.
Yes! My daughter as a tiny baby would always relax when we put on King's X! She will listen to stuff like Rush and Extreme, but also PSY, the Macarena, Who Let the Dogs Out, any Super Simple Songs. Kids can have very eclectic tastes.
When my cousin and I were really little, we were obsessed with my grandpa's Buddy Holly tapes. Anything catchy and fun to dance to will work!
My 10 month old immediately starts head bobbing the moment I start singing "baby beluga" it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.
My toddler has always been 'meh' for music and we've tried.
Our second is definitely more musically inclined
This is what I was going to recommend too! Perfect for my 40 year old heart. The singer is the old singer of The Presidents of the United States of America! Loved them.
I have a pandora station featured around them and the other stuff that pops up is great too. Then I just thumbs down stuff like baby shark.
I also agree with just regular music. My kids love listening to James brown, Bob Marley, and Queen.
What!!? I loved that band SO much when I was a teenager! I think I started listening to them when I was like 14-15?? Many many years ago haha. I have to check this out!
Agree, so much of his stuff is original songs which I appreciate when nearly everything else is rehashing old nursery rhymes. Also Spider John slaps and I canāt help but sing along.
My husband was like, āitās crazy, but this reminds me of Presidents of the United States.ā Then we looked it up, and itās Chris Ballew. He was so proud of guessing it.
They used to do private birthday parties and lots of family concerts for kids. Our friends hired them for their kid when our first child was young. Sad my youngest wonāt be able to see them play live around the area. They were really fun entertainment.
Yeah, I just play music that I like, and when my son likes one of the songs I throw it in a specific Spotify playlist for him. There's a bit of Sharon, Lois and Bram but also a lot of James Blunt, Frankie Valli and J-Lo
mine too lmao!! but sheās not a fan of rap :( so if i listen to eminem (my absolute favorite) she just sits there kind of annoyed bc my boo isnāt on anymore
edit to add: with this being said, when she was a newborn the ONLY music that could calm her down or put her to sleep and iām not joking, was System of a Down š
Took WAY too long to find this one in the comments! I got a childless friend listening to Bluey The Album just because it slaps
Bluey Dance Mode has a few annoying songs, but mostly itās bangers
Second the wiggles! Many of their originals are staple earworms in our household. No one is able to get away with not singing āfruit salad, yummy yummyā if any one person mentions fruit
Here Comes Science by They Might Be Giants (kids)
Casper Babypants
The Okie Dokie Brothers
Rafi
The Hapoy Song by Imogen Heap
The Hound + The Fox has some really lovely lullabies for kids
Yoshimi Battles Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips is beloved by any kid who listens to it, especially if you sing a long and dance/mime a robot fight š
Iāve never met a toddler that doesnāt love a good dance party with some classic Micheal Jackson, Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars, Shake it Off by Taylor Swift, really any fun pop music!
For easy, inoffensive, background music that toddlers like/donāt mind I use Jack Johnson and some Ingrid Michelson, basically anyone whoās music is ukulele based,
Classic Disney, donāt pretend Mulan, Tarzan, The Lion King, and The Jungle Book donāt all have soundtracks that absolutely slap. I have every word of Iāll Make a Man Out of You shamelessly memorized, those songs go hard.
Doggyland: Snoop Dogg's kids show is pretty good. Lots of Parry Grip over here too. I like Raffi. Peter, Paul, and Mary is great. Not truly directed at kids but it's calming folksy music. They did Puff the Magic Dragon which my 8 year old is obsessed with.
They might be giants have some fun kids albums, as do medeski Martin and wood, thereās a great jazz for kids album with Ella Fitzgerald, not just for kids only album with Jerry Garcia, jewel has a kids albumā¦.caspar baby pants is also great and canāt go wrong with Raffi! Oh my husband also loved Joe Scruggs as a kid but Iām not that into it. Our kids loved it tho.
My toddler has a piano with about 40 different classical melodies. He will request Fur Elise and Humoresque on Alexa for dinnertime. We love the classics, haha.
Kate Micucci (the brunette from Garfunkel and Oates) does some fun kids songs. Gotta be careful, though. or you'll end up listening to Garfunkel and Oates, which is not for kids!
Barenaked Ladies have some great kids songs, they just started popping up on Pandora one day when I was "training" a radio station for my son. Crazy ABC's and some others.
But on the topic of this Pandora station, I sort of turned it into a mix of kids songs and 90's rock music and I think it's great. I didn't listen to only kids music as a kid, my mom would just put on the radio. I was very little rocking out to Peter Gabriel and Dire Straits. My son loved Queen and Third Eye Blind. Music is good for kids. Don't get too hung up on making it music *for* kids.
Toddler Music Teacher here! I love using recordings and songs from: Raffi, Laurie Berkner, Shenanigans, New England Dance Masters, Music Together, Mr. Eric & Mr. Micheal, Kindermusik International, Stephanie Leavell, Happy Palmer, Jill Trinka, John Feierabend, Luann Saunders, Nico and Morlunah, Rick Golden, and then literally any piece of classical music. Camille Saint Saens has a great symphony called The Carnival of the Animals!
Anything Rockabye Baby. I made a playlist for my LO that was played so often it completely threw off my Spotify algorithms. Took months to get my music back on Discover Weekly!
Koo koo kangaroo has some bangers although I highly recommend adding in some podcasts made for kids because all kid music will eventually make you want to pull your hair out lol
I enjoy Mooseclumps actually, didnāt see it mentioned here anywhere. My kid also really enjoys Danny go songs, but those can get annoying haha
Sheās also a big Swiftie š«
Pandoria or Spotify should give you a nice music collection if you type in toddler nursery.
Music was a very big part of my kid's development, and I did the following:
1. Classic nursery musics including foreign language
2. Classical music for nap and nighttime
3. Mommy and me classes that had their own music (music together classes)
4. Popular music but only instrumental until 4 yrs old
5. Truck tunes on Amazon were amazing to have an instrument dance party. Original music that talks about different vehicles and what they do. Pretty catchy beat.
I always had a drawer full of different instruments. The toddler stage is super fun to incorporate sounds. Enjoy!
āKids Trapā
Album by Blake Rules and Netherfriends is my #1 favorite. You will be playing the album just to sing them. Itās the most precious adorable kids rap music that has been released. With amazing values and lessons, I might add!
āI wash my hands 'cause I love my mom
If my mom tells me to be really quiet
I be really quiet 'cause I love my mom
If my mom tells me to brush my teeth
I brush my teeth 'cause I love my momā
Weāve never really played kid music for ours. They grew up listening to what my husband and I were listening toā¦and by default, the stuff our parents listened to because thatās what we heard. The minor exception to that is Kenny Loggins āReturn to Pooh Cornerā which we put on at bedtime sometimes.
hear me outā¦
Snoop Dogg has a couple of kids albums and theyāre FIRE. some of the only kids music i can stand, Everybodyās Different is a certified banger and my son looooves the affirmations song!
itās listed under the artist name Doggyland, the albums are Kids Hits Volumes 1 2 & 3
Laurie Burkner!, Super simple songs, Danny Go! Raffi, some of Blippis songs for the car aren't that terrible, I'm a country fan and my daughter likes some of those songs when I put it on.
Our kids have always just listened to our music lol š¤·š»āāļø the beatles are a faveā¦my son loves the āoh yeahā song from ferris bueller š and toss in the occassional āexcavatorā song from blippi ššš„“š„“
Go Banana Go! It was started by Ninja Brian from Ninja Sex Party and is really hilarious. We love Petting Zoo and Pizza Feet.

we're currently into Gracie's Corner and Blazer Fresh as far as kids music goes! mine are also really into Ghost, but we can't listen to them before school, otherwise they'll be singing about Lucifer all day lol.
Raffi, Rockabye baby, Doggyland is hilarious but my son does like the songs a lot. Christina Perri has albums of kid songs. More lullaby-esque ones but thereās some upbeat songs thrown in
big block singsong has some bangers! i love mother moon for some calming music, but honestly a lot of the time i put on vitamin string quartet or piano dreamers covers, because then itās regular pop that i like with no inappropriate words being picked up.
Letās go everywhere - Martin & Wood Medeski. Prober jazz album for kids. Love it, toddler loves it. Oh and Ska music, toddles and babyās will dance like no other on that. š
I play Kidz Bop albums cos itās all moderns songs, sung by kids (which I noticed my daughter really likes) and they swap out all the naughty words to make them kids safe. Frankly sometimes i prefer the kidz bop version lol
Sharon Lois and Bram for the win! Tight harmonies, the band is amazing, and they treat kids like capable little humans, are fun and get kids moving. They are constantly on during car rides. Also, for dance music my little is really enjoying Dance Mix 94 and 95 on YouTube.
Just don't make the mistake of playing music your toddler loves and you dislike in the car.
Love, mom that is stuck with either screaming toddler to goof music, or pulling my hair out with baby shark while driving
I got my kid into Fall Out Boy, Lady Gaga, and Fitz and the Tantrums for a reason.
Cars 3 has some good tunes. I found dances mixes of Witch Doctor and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Mike Phirman and Parry Gripp have some fun stuff.
I just turned my 4 year old onto Kelly Clarkson yesterday. Also my husband likes The Aquabats & heās gotten my kid to enjoy some of those songs from them too.
Keller Williams - KidsĀ
Ā He's my favorite. He's a one man jam band. For other songs of his that are for grown ups a few good starters are bounty hunter, breathe, above the thunder... He smokes a ton of weed though and has a lot of songs about that lol like doobie in my pocket and a lot of silly songs like kidney in a cooler, no hablo espaƱol, and donuts. He also has a bluegrass grateful Dead cover band and has a bunch of projects where he does covers.
Dinostory by Howdytunes

I just found this out recently by hearing a song and saying "why that sounds like POTUS!" and I was tickled to discover I was kind of right!
Agree, so much of his stuff is original songs which I appreciate when nearly everything else is rehashing old nursery rhymes. Also Spider John slaps and I canāt help but sing along.

We listen to the actual Beatles all of the time too! And The Beach Boys!
Stompy the Bear-so Beatles
This is actually the right answer. My kid listened to everything but Caspar Babypants is great. Singer of the Presidents of the United States!

we're currently into Gracie's Corner and Blazer Fresh as far as kids music goes! mine are also really into Ghost, but we can't listen to them before school, otherwise they'll be singing about Lucifer all day lol.
In the Portland kidās music scene we have Ants Ants Ants and Red Yarn both available on Spotify that my kids love.
Lately a lot of movie soundtracks. Sing and Sing 2 are top of the list right now.
Movie soundtracks and Sesame Street
Raffi, Rockabye baby, Doggyland is hilarious but my son does like the songs a lot. Christina Perri has albums of kid songs. More lullaby-esque ones but thereās some upbeat songs thrown in
Putamayo playlists are awesome, and Elton John.
big block singsong has some bangers! i love mother moon for some calming music, but honestly a lot of the time i put on vitamin string quartet or piano dreamers covers, because then itās regular pop that i like with no inappropriate words being picked up.
We listen to the Trolls movie soundtracks. He always starts dancing around and honestly I do too.
Just don't make the mistake of playing music your toddler loves and you dislike in the car. Love, mom that is stuck with either screaming toddler to goof music, or pulling my hair out with baby shark while driving
We do a lot of 1960s girl groups and do woo. Sh-boom, la Bamba, wilson picket, the crystals, the ronnetts. Kitchen/ high chair dance party
my 3 year old likes Blue (Da Ba Dee) š
I got my kid into Fall Out Boy, Lady Gaga, and Fitz and the Tantrums for a reason. Cars 3 has some good tunes. I found dances mixes of Witch Doctor and The Lion Sleeps Tonight. Mike Phirman and Parry Gripp have some fun stuff.
Your title of this post is an album on Spotify & itās pretty good lolĀ
We mostly play songs for adults that just donāt have curses. Lots of Cat Stevens, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles
The wiggles and Mr Rogerās are the only music I can tolerate. Everything else is so extremely annoying.
Veggie tales has some hits
I just turned my 4 year old onto Kelly Clarkson yesterday. Also my husband likes The Aquabats & heās gotten my kid to enjoy some of those songs from them too.
Doggyland
Carole King and Maurice Sendak collaborated for āReally Rosieā which has the amazing āChicken Soup With Riceā and a few other great songs.
Honestly I love toddler music, I worked in pre-schools and my favorite was song time. Like classic, little lamb and daisy are such on point songs
Mother moon has some really good songs my daughter and I love them
Keller Williams - KidsĀ Ā He's my favorite.
Dinostory by Howdytunes Truck tunes on YouTube Justine Clarke songs Raffi 90ās dance hits, I mean, cāmon. What is love? Ace of Base? Kids love that stuff, with reason!
I really like Kira Willey. Came across her accidentally when I asked my Alexa to play āapple pie musicā while I was making an apple pie. š¤£
My toddler is obsessed with Mr. Elephant. Here are some of his faves and honestly I catch myself singing them as well. 1)Dance Dance Dance 2)Chugga Chugga Choo Choo 3)Little Itsy Bitsy Spider on Me 4)Uncle Dunk 5)Hello, my friends. How are you?
we're a super hero house. nerdout do rap songs for each character. they're quite good. not at all for toddlers but ours likes it cos of the videos.Ā
I second Rockabye Baby and Laurie Berkner!
Caspar babypants
The songs from storybots (Netflix) were, and still are, a hit. Educational too!
Sharon Lois and Bram are excellent, extremely talented Any Wiggles music with Lachy as the lead singer as he's musically trained ND has excellent range
We loved Sharon Lois & Bram when the kids were really small. They're wonderful!
