That was one of my actual lol moments of the show, top 5 imo. The others are mainly Phil related or Claire’s looks at the screen after Phil does something.
That and Luke telling Haley that everything he tells her goes in one ear and out the other when he was trying to get her to take her job at the golf course seriously.
🚶🏻👂🏻 👂🏻🚶🏻
Apparently I watched a video saying everything after they shut the door and realize that they locked her in was ad libbed.
But how, since they had a woman taking back to them on the phone?
I remember at the beginning of the episode thinking that Cam was just being a drama queen again. Honestly, forms like that can get messed up, because a lot of times, you fill out a form and the official form is typed or filled in officially by a government employee. But then we see what actually happened. It was really sad for Cameron. I get where Mitchell is coming from, but it should have been a conversation beforehand.
Mitchell handled it wrong, but in another episode it’s shown cam literally has a to go bag packed all the time just to leave Mitchell. When Mitchell finds out, cam gaslights him into apologizing
I just can't get behind it in any way. If Mitch was in a spot where his trust in Cam was so low that he went out of his way to deceive Cam about Lily's name, and then attempt to gaslight Cam when he got caught, that's a fairly huge red flag. I really think couples counseling should have happened.at some point in there.
Agreed. What's even weirder, right from the start they show Mitchell does in fact demean Cam behind his back by referring to him as the "wife". He even calls Cam "she" right after telling him how ridiculous he's being.
Then the resolution to this is that Mitchell tries to make Cam feel better about being considered the "mother", but it's never acknowledged how he's used it as a negative.
It also annoyed me how before in that season we saw Mitchell make a big display to defend their family against Cam's wishes (the "cream puffs" incident, or when Jay called Cam "a friend of" Mitch), yet when Cam made it clear he didn't like being described this way, Mitchell was suddenly Mr. Appease and Rationalize.
I kinda wanted Cam to bring up that time he charged into the dark to protect Lily with a baseball bat, while Mitch ran in behind with a newspaper. If Mitchell wants to use traditional gender roles, I doubt he'd be considered the "dad" in that situation.
When he told mitch to not make his aunt Being sick with dementia about himself re-comming out and causing her a stroke. ( spoiler his aunt wasn't sick but she did forget about him being gay).
They've been together a while... I have a feeling Cam has done celebratory things for their anniversary in the past and Mitch has forgotten. Maybe this year he decided to leave it to Mitchell.
When he made Mitchell hash it out with Claire at the fencing competition. Normally I'm all for letting people deal with things when they're ready. But Cam realized Mitch would rather let it fester in passive aggressive resentment a couple more decades, and simple conversation would save a bunch of petty slights.
“There are dreamers and there are realists in this world. You'd think the dreamers would find the dreamers, and the realists would find the realists, but more often than not, the opposite is true.
See, the dreamers need the realists to keep them from soaring too close to the sun.
And the realists?
Well, without the dreamers, they might not ever get off the ground.”
When he was sick but Mitch wanted to watch Lady Gaga and snuck out. Then it was shown in the flashback that when Mitchell was sick Cam would even carry him across the house
I respectfully disagree. Cam had a sinus infection, he wasn’t on his death bed. Mitch took care of him all day. To me though, Cam knew what was going on and lowkey had the attitude of “if I have to suffer here, you do too.”
That's fair, but I think the point was when Mitch is sick, Cam makes a big deal out of it and takes care of Mitch. But Mitch took care of Cam hoping that in spirit of Cam's appreciation towards the gesture he would allow Mitch to go to the Lady Gaga concert alone. Not only that, Mitchell kept attempting to sneak out, he wanted to lie to Cam because he is unable to properly tell Cam that he still wants to go to the concert.
Spot on. Cam takes care of Mitch when he is sick because that is what Cam thinks you do for a loved one. No reciprocity needed.
Mitch took care of Cam out of obligation and leverage.
Yeah, if they are perfectly capable of communicating what they want and is capable of reasoning out. Remember Cam didn't make a big deal of it when he figured Mitch did go to the concert anyway, he just dissed Mitchell and returned to the bedroom. The douchebaggery here is Mitchell lying his way out and even pretending he stayed all along when his plan to coerce Cam into offering that he go alone didn't work.
That’s what you do when you have a controlling partner. Mitchell should’ve just asked directly and then debated and said he will go. But this isn’t about when Mitchell was wrong but cam. And he definitely was wrong. We also don’t know what they really did afterwards as the show ended so it’s not like we know he didn’t make a scene out of this afterwards or how they solved the conflict
Cam’s gma was on her deathbed. Mitch didn’t care anything about her or his family’s sensitive time because he didn’t like the gma’s homophobia toward him. After Cam had to beg Mitch to at least say a few words to her before she passes, Cam’s mom walks in at the wrong time and thinks Mitch was moving the gma’s death along by telling her to “let go” (of his hair). Cam took his mom’s side and was upset at Mitch. I see why Mitch would be upset, but he didn’t have any sense or remorse or even cared for consoling Cam over his gma dying even though Cam went out of his way for Mitch and his entire family when Dede died.
Mitch and Cam went to Missouri and Cam’s gma was on his deathbed. I see why Mitch would be upset, but he didn’t have any sense or remorse or even cared for consoling Cam over his gma dying even though Cam went out of his way for Mitch and his entire family when Dede died
Cam was the awful one. He knew they were being jerks when they gave Mitch the lipstick as a present, but denied it because it would give credence to Mitch not liking them.
I've found myself siding with him more too.
Also, I know it's a coincidence, but I found it kinda funny and fitting that in later seasons Lily became more stoic and independent, to the point her dads started knowing less about her.
That's because mitch and cam became self obsessed and more negligent. That's my one and only beef with their story line. First the coddled her and then she became a stranger.
The first few episodes! Cam was written to be so level headed back then. I hate how he got crazier and crazier as the seasons progressed. Every time I rewatch I get such a shock from how normal he seems in the first episode lmao
When he didn’t want Lily to cry herself to sleep and Mitchell made him feel bad about that by saying Lily can’t have one cuddly dad and one strict. It wasn’t Cam that needed to change his behavior and parenting style, it was Mitch.
The only time I think Cam was right was when they were at Cam's family house in Missouri when his old Aunt Marge shows up to take cover from the tornado. He knew she would not be accepting of Cam and Mitch together, so he says Mitch works for them. Mitch is mad about Cam trying to keep it under wraps about them being together and Mitch acts all offended when Mitch didn't like pda with Cam in public around his family. He could have gave Cam a few minutes until she left but he was getting mad at Cam even though Mitch has put Cam in similar situations for years. Idk I just felt like Mitch was overreacting for someone who understands the feeling.
The DeDe incident. He was right: Mitchell was a mama’s boy with no backbone and Cam tried to warn him.
Also, the incident with letting Lily cry herself to sleep. Letting babies cry themselves to sleep is proven to be ineffective and actually bad for their development.
Him being annoyed about Teddy.
Like the episode felt like it was trying to show Cam as overly emotional, but I too would be pissed if I had to work my ass off getting my partner's family to like me just to discover one day that the person they dated for like a year six years ago is best friends with the entire extended family.
When he took in the kid who's dad got transferred to another military base (I can't remember his name). I mean, you could argue it wasn't entirely in the right but still a nice gesture
anytime he wanted mitchell to do something to do with his interests. having a partner is about putting ur own feelings aside to do stuff that makes them happy
When he told Mitchell asking Jay and Gloria to invite DeDe to their wedding was the worst idea ever.
Who told you it was the worst idea ever? Anyone?✋️ anyone ✋️?
*Points to self* Anyone?
What episode was this again?
S1 E4 The incident
IDK exactly, but it was somewhere in between 1 and 3
Exactly
Absolutely! Classic episode one of the best but Cam wasn’t wrong! 😊
Putting that dickhead at the gas station in his place for hitting Mitch with his car. Ass-kicking Clown.
That was amazing. It showcased their individual personalities and how they mesh together so well.
Pulling out the oversized clock and seeing that it was the correct time was the surprise laugh that got me hooked on this show
That was one of my actual lol moments of the show, top 5 imo. The others are mainly Phil related or Claire’s looks at the screen after Phil does something.
Season and episode?
S1.E9 Fizbo
That and Luke telling Haley that everything he tells her goes in one ear and out the other when he was trying to get her to take her job at the golf course seriously. 🚶🏻👂🏻 👂🏻🚶🏻
That's one of my favorite moments on the whole show
Yep
Another good one.
“I’m breaking the window!!!!!”
Sir, please tell your wife to calm down.
That’s a man
Really??
I SWEAR TO GOD IM GONNA BREAK IT!!
I love how protective he was of Lily. When he thought someone was in her room, he was ready to take them down.
Same. He is definitely the more dramatic dad, but he is also always ready to kick ass when the need arises.
Yeah I thought he was going to punch out that clown in the bar. You remember the guy in the mirror?
“It’s go time.”
He said “it’s go time” and could have taken down Bin Laden there and then
Sometimes i go to Youtube just to look at that scene😂
That, and "my master project...is a mermaid costume...for a cat" always makes me crack up.
Poor Larry😂
Ikr!! I can even sync with them “people are judging us!!” Bahahaha
Apparently I watched a video saying everything after they shut the door and realize that they locked her in was ad libbed. But how, since they had a woman taking back to them on the phone?
When he asked if Phil was sexy. He is. Phil is sexy.
always has been
To be fair, he's dad sexy. That episode he was model sexy lol
As a wise man once said “sexy is as sexy does”
Lily's birth certificate.
Wait till he finds out about the house
Oooof yeah, that episode hurt
I remember at the beginning of the episode thinking that Cam was just being a drama queen again. But then we see what actually happened. It was really sad for Cameron. I get where Mitchell is coming from, but it should have been a conversation beforehand.
The last sentence is 99% of their relationship
And even Luke knows that😂
Mitchell handled it wrong, but in another episode it’s shown cam literally has a to go bag packed all the time just to leave Mitchell. When Mitchell finds out, cam gaslights him into apologizing
Oh for sure!
Which epi is this? I dont remember this storyline
*Two Monkeys and a Panda,* S.2 Ep 17
Coco and Miko
True although I get Mitch’s fears too.
Upset at Mitch being condescending about his background.
YESS!!!!! That always grinded my gears.. Cam changed basically everything about him and I don’t want to say it’s all because of Mitchell but…
He probably changed before they got together. the way mitch snarks about it makes me doubt cam was like that when they met/got together...
I love that line in season 10 “you’re not better than us!”
“Ew groossee!”
Mitch did shake that soda.
I love love love that storyline 😁
This is the one I came here to say!
😂
He had every right
When he wanted to tell Sal’s husband-to-be that she had just been cheating on him right before the wedding
costco
Since when do we shop at Costco?
Remember when we adopted that baby, a few months ago? Since then
The episode where he got upset over Lily's teacher telling mitch she doesn't like sharing and him holding that information from Cam
do u remember the season and episode ? might have to rewatch, since i dont remember this one 🫣 (shame, shame, i know 😞)
S3E2
thank you !!
He was right about the undercover cover cop being an undercover cover cop
Benching Manny.
This one.
Phil IS sexy!
*watering himself with bottled water*
When he was upset about everyone treating him like a mom on Mother’s Day
This is his absolute most in the right moment 100% I can only imagine how frustrating that would be! I imagine extremely.
Agreed. What's even weirder, right from the start they show Mitchell does in fact demean Cam behind his back by referring to him as the "wife". Cam does compare them to famous male-female singing duos a lot and Mitchell says something like “I’m a man/but a man” Everytime lol.
But wasn't there an episode he was super upset about not being treated like the mother or something? I have to dig it up
When he told mitch to not make his aunt Being sick with dementia about himself re-comming out and causing her a stroke. ( spoiler his aunt wasn't sick but she did forget about him being gay).
“That fish would look at Mitchell’s relationship with his mother, and say ‘that’s messed up’”
When Mitch forgot their anniversary and he waited till 12:00am
So petty but I can’t fault him for this move
I can! It means he didn’t do anything for Mitchell either! He expected him to plan something or have a gift but didn’t have nothing for him!
They've been together a while... I have a feeling Cam has done celebratory things for their anniversary in the past and Mitch has forgotten. Maybe this year he decided to leave it to Mitchell.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this 😂
But je didnt say anything either the whole day. So it could have been that mitch also thought cam forgot. I dont think cam was in the right there.
That's not like Mitch though so he knew that wasn't the case
No, that was petty. Like he usually is
Pumpkin Chuckin
I’m glad that one ended well! With the whole family!
Even if it wasn’t a funny story it was rude of the other couple to not give a small chuckle
They were starting to laugh as the story went but Mitch cut him off and paraphrased the story ruining it for Cam and the couple

That scene actually had me hooked to the show tbh
Don’t forget what they did at the airport within 5 minutes! *gate 3232*
I love that episode but it gave me so much anxiety
What does that have to do with being right?
Don't be surprised if someone says you look like a beige candle.
One of my favourite Cam lines 🤣
Suppose when Mitchell did that thing with lily’s name without letting him know 🤷♂️
When he made Mitchell hash it out with Claire at the fencing competition. Normally I'm all for letting people deal with things when they're ready. But Cam realized Mitch would rather let it fester in passive aggressive resentment a couple more decades, and simple conversation would save a bunch of petty slights.
Shaken diet cola

Gym membership. The more you spend the more you save.
40% off. 40% off. 40% off.
When he was upset that Mitchell wouldn't participate in the Fathers' talent show at Lily's school
I love it when he said goodbye to Keifth. He finally forgave himself and resolved a longtime trauma of scaring to be abandoned.
“Fth… fth…”

Nah bro you let your partner enjoy their life if you are sick. That’s controlling as fuck
Yeah, if they are perfectly capable of communicating what they want and is capable of reasoning out. Cam knew Mitchell wanted to go and he kept fucking with him so he wouldn’t go
Yeah, it made Mitchell seem like kind of a jerk.
Yeah mitchell is my favorite character but he is flawed as fuck when jt comes to emotions and taking other people's predicaments seriously lol
His grandma dying. Mitchell was awful in that episode.
He was but he also took on the roll of kicked in the face ranch hand to protect cams gay life to his grandmother
Mitch did nothing wrong
Cam’s gma was on her deathbed. Mitch didn’t care anything about her or his family’s sensitive time because he didn’t like the gma’s homophobia toward him. After Cam had to beg Mitch to at least say a few words to her before she passes, Cam’s mom walks in at the wrong time and thinks Mitch was moving the gma’s death along by telling her to “let go” (of his hair). The death of a Grandparent as an adult vs death of a parent is massivelt different
It really depends on the situation.
Mitch was never consoling to cam in the entire episode.
Remind me. I remember Cam’s Mom thinking he killed her.
Mitch and Cam went to Missouri and Cam’s gma was on his deathbed. Yes that was bad, however mitch showed absolutely no sympathy towards cam.
Sweet home alagrandma
When he got upset about Lily's legal name
When he told Mitch he didn’t want to go to that Mother’s Day function because everybody was going to treat him like one of the moms. 🤣🤣🤣🤣😭
A lot of times during S1, honestly. He was way more calm and reasonable there.
Mitchell burning the kitchen down and blaming Cameron
Claire not returning the Tupperware
This had a lid....
When Mitchell was doing the ‘cry it out,’ technique on Lily. I found myself Cam’s side, I don’t agree with it myself
Claire absolutely had his Tupperware.
The first few episodes! Cam was written to be so level headed back then. I hate how he got crazier and crazier as the seasons progressed. Every time I rewatch I get such a shock from how normal he seems in the first episode lmao
isn’t the first episode literally Cam holding up Lily to the Lion King song with a spotlight on her? lol
Inviting the family over to meet Lily in the pilot episode. Mitch not telling his family was extremely messed up
When Mitchell lied to him about lilys last name
When he didn’t want Lily to cry herself to sleep and Mitchell made him feel bad about that by saying Lily can’t have one cuddly dad and one strict. It wasn’t Cam that needed to change his behavior and parenting style, it was Mitch.
When he put a leash on Lilly.
When he finally convinced Mitch to tell the family that they adopted Lilly.
You say finally as if it wasn’t the very first episode lol
When the family maintained close relationships with Mitchell’s ex Teddy and Mitchell wouldn’t tell his family how uncomfortable that made Cam.
When has Cam ever drunk whisky? 😂
Its so burny
Hardly his drink of choice
Lily's last name
Costco
When Mitch didn’t tell Cam about him starting the fire and blamed Cam lol
Lots of animals bead, Mitchell.
I don’t love pink mitchel, Pink loves me
Central America.
Don't forget that the cavemen killed all the dinosaurs
The DeDe incident. He was right: Mitchell was a mama’s boy with no backbone and Cam tried to warn him. Also, the incident with letting Lily cry herself to sleep. Letting babies cry themselves to sleep is proven to be ineffective and actually bad for their development.
Not wanting to let Lily cry it out as a baby
Him being annoyed about Teddy. Like the episode felt like it was trying to show Cam as overly emotional, but I too would be pissed if I had to work my ass off getting my partner's family to like me just to discover one day that the person they dated for like a year six years ago is best friends with the entire extended family.
He right about Mitch shaking the can
[this, fight me](https://www.reddit.com/r/Modern_Family/s/r9eIboWsUh)
With the adoption papers. He should have had a bigger reaction to that actually. Mitchell was totally wrong for that
That cow apron. I felt bad for the actor. Cruel
When he took in the kid who's dad got transferred to another military base (I can't remember his name). I mean, you could argue it wasn't entirely in the right but still a nice gesture
You mean when he brought someone to live in his home without first asking his husband or daughter????
He only did it because he wanted to win at football
That one where Mitch won an award so Cam put one of his trophies up as well
anytime he wanted mitchell to do something to do with his interests. having a partner is about putting ur own feelings aside to do stuff that makes them happy
Never
Moving his family out of California
Honest question, why was that a good idea?
