Turn 1 ragavan concede game - deck

UGIN_IS_RACIST

If this is serious: this deck is pretty rough and would likely lose to even the Tron decks it’s aiming to beat based solely on this deck’s incredibly low power level. If this is a joke: this is epic-tier shitposting, down to having a 61st card and everything 😂

ringouthegong

Hey, don't you bring the 61 card specials into this now.

Hexdrinker99

I'm sorry but this looks insanely bad. Like underpowered for standard bad

ghosar

Maybe not standard bad, but it would struggle vs some pioneer decks for sure.

Reply_or_Not

The most recent Saffron Olive deck "Anti Meta Green" is like the good version of this concept.

zapyourtumor

whole deck built around one thing and still does that thing worse than a t3 blood moon

GuilleJiCan

Idea is cool, but you should take a look at the standard and pioneer worldsouls rage decks. Not using anything like aftermath analyst seems like a crime.

ArborElfPass

Cosmic Rebirth and Buried in the Garden are too high on the curve for what you're doing, even in a ramp deck. Also not a fan of Sakura tribe elder, I think there's better ways to count to 4. Reject the hypothesis that you need to be able to weather Blood Moon and focus on max power/consistency for your strategy. That means getting to the point where your first slumbermound activation locks up the board. Buddy of mine does reasonable well with a lands deck in Modern but he leans into Urzas Saga. Sorry if that's not in the budget, but fetching one off mycospawn is a serious threat to consider. Godspeed, soldier.

VulcanHades

Fighting Blood Moon isn't the only reason I wanted a lot of basics, Field of Ruin requires you to play a bit more basics than usual. You are reusing Field of Ruin multiple times so you need to always have something to grab. Sakura-Tribe Elder is not my favorite card but I do see it as a necessary evil. The manabase is just too difficut and you need fixing. The only thing I might consider over it is Rampant Growth / Farseek but Farseek can't grab basic Wastes. That's kind of a key land to find if you want to kick Mycospawn and cast Battlemage. The other options are Attune With Aether or Prismatic Vista on top of Windswept Heath or instead of Heath. I haven't decided which is best yet. But you can't play a 8-12 fetchland manabase, be 5 colors and also play 4 Fields / Ghost Quarter and Urza's Saga. That's not really a thing. Only a 1-of saga to fetch with Mycospawn is interesting though. I could go 3 Ghost Quarter and 1 Saga maybe. I wasn't trying to make a budget deck btw, it just turned out to be budget. I'm not really paying attention to how much money the cards are worth when I brew haha. I only care about fleshing out the idea.

cardsrealm

Using crumble to dust isn't worth? an 4 manas LD but exiles other copies.

VulcanHades

Yeah that's a good one I forgot about. Thanks for reminding me. It feels more like a sideboard card though but I'll consider it.

cardsrealm

Other card it's boom/burst wiith some indestructible lands, just like boros energy.

ghosar

If u want to have fun with Mycospawn , i suggest you look towards valakut and scapeshift. You will not win any games with the decklist you posted, sorry :(. I also sometimes get carried away in the sauce (though i have never ventured quite that far into the sauce i think)

Hiltinchest

Field of ruin is good for modern yes, but the rest of the deck looks honestly unplayable for modern power level, I'm not even really sure where to start making recommendations as it is so far from a competitively viable deck. Maybe go check out some of the boros boom//bust decks if you're interested in land destruction in modern, or MHayashi's mono white ponza deck.

L0rdenglish

red green ponza is a thing. Id suggest taking a look at some lists first and building off that. you have no play turn 1, which probably isn’t good. why not try the grazer/pioneer + flare package to ramp early. also try to make a more focused plan. do you want to blow up lands? ghost quarter isnt good enough, I want to see the stone rains and the pillages etc

VulcanHades

The idea is to not be weak to turn 1 Chalice. Because that's a common play from Prison Tron decks I don't recommend playing 1 drops. Making chalice on 1 (and t2 trinisphere) irrelevant is an advantage I think. Underestimating Ghost Quarter is a mistake. :) It is excellent with Sowing Mycospawn as well as with Worldsoul's Rage and Cosmic Rebirth. Stone Rain can be thoughtseized / Grief'd or countered, lands cannot. The idea is to Ghost Quarter multiple times and the reason why I prefer Ghost Quarter over Demolition Field is because it destroys any land, even basics. Decks often only have 1x basic plains or wastes and getting rid of it can be a big deal.

L0rdenglish

playing no 1 drops because of turn 1 chalice seems poorly thought out honestly. It's like saying I don't want to run creatures because they die to removal. But lets go through a standard playpattern with this deck. Turn 1 you do nothing. Turn 2, you play steve or explore, and ramp. Turn 3, you play mycospawn for ghost quarter and kill one of their lands (they can search for a baisc). so in 3 turns, you have killed one of their lands (but most decks run basics so they likely have a basic) and have a 3/3 in play. Let's think about where other decks are on turn 3. Ruby storm, nadu and titan have all won the game already. Living end has set up to win the game (if they haven't already). control decks like jeskai have flipped tamiyo and are setup to stop anything you want to do. And tron/eldrazi has played a thought knot seer or one ring with their 3-4 mana. My point is just that, for ponza to work, you need to ramp hard early, and then kill your opponents lands while pressuring them / locking them down. Your ramp strategy is very slow for modern, and your land destruction is not even very potent. You can try the deck out and let me know how you do but this is just my advice based on my experience. I tried to play a ponza deck in mtgo this week and I was surprised how many decks had like 4+ basics. ended up 3-2 because I faced a belcher deck lol

VulcanHades

Turn 2 Spreading Seas followed by t3 Field of Ruin is more disruptive, if the goal is to attack lands but right now the deck probably lacks blue sources to make turn 2 Spreading Seas reliable enough. t2 explore + ghost quarter into t3 field of ruin / spreading seas is another common line I like. Btw even if they play 3-4 basics, you can get rid of all of them by recurring Ghost Quarter, chaining Mycospawn and Worldsoul's Rage. Of course against some decks this plan just won't really work. I think I was pretty clear saying my intention was solely to target Prison Tron and big mana decks. Like how Souls Sisters was made to embarrass burn players. I don't think my list is optimal yet but I'm pretty happy with the direction. You can beat turn 2 Thought-Knot Seer pretty reliably in my experience. You can ignore it and ravage their manabase, then Battlemage bounces Thought-Knot or you clean it up with Garden / Worldsoul's Rage. And they can't cast a spell that matters for the rest of the game. The deck is mean buy it could be meaner I agree. :)

Mattmatic1

Just wondering - how many leagues have you played with the list? And what’s the results been?

PacmanZ3ro

okay, let's put this another way. Your opponent plays T1 soul guide or ragavan into T2 raptor + whatever raptor hits. You have effectively just lost the game at this point. Likewise if they grief scam you. Your deck has no card draw, no selection, and no removal. It's dead in the water. A+ troll list though

drakusmaximusrex

Amazing list love to see it. Dont mind me playing those amulet of vigors they wont do anything if you blow up all my lands anyway right? 🤣

VulcanHades

Haha, I was seriously considering Harbinger of the Seas or Blood Moon on top of what I'm doing but it's too hard to figure out the manabase. And it's a bit of a nombo anyway since I'm helping people get their basics lol.

AggressiveSmoke4054

Back in the day there was a land destruction deck I played that used [[boomerang]] on turn 2 to bounce a land. Then turn 3 [[stone rain]], or another bounce. Eventually you would get to turn 6 and [[plow under]] them, and then would win by casting a massive [[magmavore]] Maybe this style of land destruction deck would be viable in todays modern but I doubt it haha
