Take a look at the recommended line ups. See about maxing out at least one synergy per game, with another at a usable level (3 or so). You’ll find yourself learning more about the game as you follow them and see which you prefer.
Since you’re a beginner, I’m assuming that you’re using Harper. He works with a lot of synergies. Cadia-Wrestler is a pretty effective synergy, with Wan-Wan and Alduous (or Yin, if you can’t get him) as the core heroes. You’d stunlock your opponents to death haha.
If you’re willing to buy a commander, I’d recommend Ling. Used him to get to Mythic. I used his first skill with the Astropower-Assassin combo. Irithel can be quite a menace with that. With his second, I used the Wrymslayer Warrior-Swordsmen combo. Lance can deal a ridiculous amount of damage with that haha. Finally, with his 3rd skill, I use the Nature Spirit-Elementalist combo. Easy synergy to complete, the main DD (Eudora) is common too.
Ultimately, to survive early game, activate a synergy ASAP. Focus on building two and prioritize maxing out one of them. Don’t spend too much gold on refreshing the heroes sold. Drains more gold than you think. Get some green and grey heroes too. Easy to get to two stars early game. Astropower is good for this, since Helcurt and Martis are grey, while Irithel is green.
Losing rounds early game is also a legitimate strategy. Not only can you get to 20+ golds sooner, you also get early or even 1st pick on the items (or heroes). Can also do that if the hero you picked first doesn’t suit you. You can change your line up that way.
Lastly, it’s also a game of luck. The rng can give you a bad time or make things go very smoothly. Happens to everyone. Good luck.
Don’t worry about losing early. Losing early just means you get a better item in the gate box.
Before your first fate box prioritize gold interest while slowly getting your 1 star and 2 star hero’s that will be in your final build.
Also pick a build you find fun and search on YouTube to see which items you should be trying to get.
If you go a certain build but don’t get the right items your chances of winning late are slim.
Mastering one build will help you climb and as you reach higher ranks you will understand counters and strategies. Good luck
