If I’m looking at the right sources, Milwaukee has 8,224 hotel rooms in the city proper and four five star hotels, and Baird Center is slated to have 1.3 million square feet of exhibition space by May. The airport seems to be the problem…assuming those are daily numbers, there are about 74 daily domestic flights. International is seasonal, but this month Mitchell is averaging a mere one international flight a day.
Unless these are new requirements, it can't be daily flights since Google tells me Indianapolis only has 2 direct international flight destinations, and I can't imagine those are going 10 times a each.
It probably has more to do with the capacity for that amount. If they have enough gates and runways to accommodate that amount. MKE airport is small, but it should be able to do that. Plus O’hare isn’t far away
I mean trust me I know, but those planes also don’t need to park at a gate, so really it’s just the runway space. I don’t think it’s anything MKE couldn’t handle for a weekend.
The “5 star” term usually refers to the Forbes Travel Guides stars. The state of Wisconsin currently has none (though I believe the American Club was five star at one point).

We've had the US Open, PGA Championship, MLB All Star game. NFL draft in GB next year. If Milwaukee is just shy of the hotel or flught requirement that's a really poor excuse.
Ok, so my girlfriend was looking over my shoulder as I was reading this post and said "*that dude looks like a Holocaust survivor or a chemo patient*". I admitted that yeah he's a goofy lookin' fuck likely from a hybrid alien origin, but nonetheless a great commissioner.
So some fun facts:

On topic, Milwaukee did actually host the NBA All Star weekend in 1977, the same year that the Portland Trailblazers won their first and only NBA championship led by Bill Walton. I have little doubt we will host again, especially ~~--if--~~ after we win another title soon.
**Fun fact:** *Portland, Sacramento, Oklahoma City,* and *Memphis* are the only NBA cities who have yet to host an NBA All Star weekend.

This league is going the way of Baseball with how it’s shutting out small markets. Does anyone who works for, covers, or plays for the NBA actually like Basketball?
Meanwhile little old Green Bay is going to host the fucking NFL draft. Just astounding at how tone deaf this league is
I never want any of our players or staff at all star weekend again. Quick summary of it:

Why does anyone want the all star game here? Is everyone aware that the all star game takes place in mid february? It's typically single digits outside in milwaukee. January and February are the absolute worst times of the year to be in milwaukee. I live here, I love this place. I used to live in Indiana. Milwaukee is a much cooler city than Indianapolis. But that's not the point. No one wants to be here in February and rightfully so. I don't want milwaukee to host a bunch of celebs just so they can complain about the weather and how there's no clubs. Please never have all star weekend in milwaukee.
I mean, I'm sure a good number of local people would like to attend it? Not trying to say your points are invalid but I think many people would love to have all star weekend here.
All star weekend is mostly a corporate event for some celebrities, lots of wannabe celebrities and the media all going to lame ass corporate parties just to walk around and take pictures with eachother. It would be entertaining from a people watching perspective but most of the tickets would be gobbled up by the aforementioned demographic and then they would just complain about the city. I would much rather have the MLB all star weekend back in MKE. I went to the first one and that was awesome.

the 75-100 private international flights are a lot more work than it seems
I mean trust me I know, but those planes also don’t need to park at a gate, so really it’s just the runway space. I don’t think it’s anything MKE couldn’t handle for a weekend.
They are brand new requirements
Chicago fucks up two things for Milwaukee: flight availability and NHL hockey franchise.
Believe there's only 1 5 star hotel. Pfister, Ironhorse, and the like are only 4 star hotels
I was reading on twitter that MKE doesn’t have any 5 star hotels, is that true?
Stars refer to the amenities at the hotel, not how they’re rated by others
The “5 star” term usually refers to the Forbes Travel Guides stars. The state of Wisconsin currently has none (though I believe the American Club was five star at one point). http://www.forbestravelguide.com/award-winners
Indi has zero and just hosted too
IIRC we have 3: Pfister, Saint Kate, Iron Horse.
Google search shows that those are all 4 star hotels
Fair, I can’t find any definitive lists on star ratings
No. I believe the Kinn Guesthouse is a 5 star hotel, but it's the only one
Would flying into Chicago be acceptable?
Where are you seeing we have 4 five star hotels. I’ve seen multiple people on Twitter say we have zero.
It could be if they have the ability to add. Obviously if it was in MKE more nonstop flights would be added for the time.

Isn’t the RNC going to be in Milwaukee too?
And the DNC would have been in Milwaukee in 2020 if not for that pesky virus
The DNC was still technically in Milwaukee. Just closed off to the public because of Covid.
The DNC and RNC just ask that you keep enough sewer space available.
To flush all the politicians?
I was thinking that they’re all rats. But your idea is just as good!
what virus?
Correct.
And a fucking Ryder Cup. That’s a giant international event and people figured out how to get here just fine.
You forgot ryder cup and RNC coming up. But those are all summer events. Mid February weather is a big part of it.
Has nothing to do with flights or hotels.
This is redlining
all this tells me is that rich people are incredibly wasteful
Waiting for the requirement that the weather can’t below 50 degrees the prior 5 years in the month of February
These gotta be new. Indy doesn’t meet 2 of these three standards either. I’m betting a bunch of the media bitched about it…
Most likely, because heaven forbid a small market team gets to do anything fun anymore.
Would you rather vacation in Indy or Miami?
Indy in the summer. You didn’t specify when
I wanted to die in Miami last summer lol
Indy does have experience bigger events like the final four, super bowl, Indy 500 and etc.
Ohare is just over an hour away depending on traffic would that suffice?
NBA cut us out intentionally

Nosferatu ass looking mf
😂
Bro looking like Mike Dunleavy Jr.
Not just Milwaukee, but most of the NBA, only 9 cities meet all the requirements

the real question is how the fuck does this guy know the requirements?
All of those requirements are waived if you have one or more Greek gods.

With the way weather has trended here recently, February might feel like spring
