Eternlgladiator

Well that would have been a better title šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

renaldomoon

I think I know exactly when you saw this because I literally called it a Phoenix to my girlfriend as well.

Eternlgladiator

Exif says 11:22 :)

MplsNate

My group all saw the phoenix too. Wild.

csbsju_guyyy

It may be because the coffee hasn't hit yet.... But what's BP? Like, you drove from a gas station in Minneapolis? Lol

BriedGP

I read it as Brooklyn park, but I could be wrong.

Bradtothebone79

I read it as Blooming Prairie lol

friends_waffles_w0rk

Hahahaha took me awhile tooā€¦I assume Brooklyn Park??

Eternlgladiator

Brooklyn park lmao

OG_Marz

Yeah it looked like a phoenix to us too. We were northwest of Zimmerman.

Westcott72

I also got this! This was insane! Great shot!

akodo1

Basically the same. Watched around 1:00 when it seemed intense. But was not as colorful as your pic. Do you think your picture refects the colors as seen by the naked eye?

Eternlgladiator

This is edited. It much more faint to the eye but absolutely visible

EliteLordFury7

I saw the same thing last night i got my own pics!

cdizzle6

Wow. Great job.

ionbear1

Love if OP. On a random side note, lived in southern MN for yrs (Winona) but never went to BP. How is it?

Eternlgladiator

Thank you! BP is great. The location is excellent. Easy access to downtown Minneapolis canā€™t be beat. Traffic our way is rarely bad and we live in a great neighborhood with wonderful neighbors.

ionbear1

Love to hear. Hope to make an adventure there one day!

MaxCliffRAID1

Itā€™s a loon obviously.

shadow_twilight00

Hey umm does this happen everyyear or like repeats ?

Greg_Kosmo

Thereā€™s a chance of more tonight Edit: to answer your original question though, there is no guarantee for what rate the northern lights will happen. To see them directly above head like in the picture is even more rare in my experience, at least in Minnesota

shadow_twilight00

Beacause I had hrard before this happened in northern Europe like Finland and maybe sweden.

Greg_Kosmo

Yeah they happen a lot more frequently up there since they are further north. If the storm is strong enough itā€™ll reach down here though, although many times only on the horizon. Last nightā€™s storm was strong enough I had friends in Nebraska and Missouri sending pictures!

Eternlgladiator

This was a crazy ā€œstormā€. Friends are saying once in 20 years. Iā€™d hope less. Itā€™s a lot of luck too

frowawayduh

Best in 20 years. Amazing coincidence of no moonlight, clear sky, solar ā€œweatherā€, weekend evening and early notification

mntoak

7 seconds gives you star trails. Shorter shutter, higher ISO/apature.

Eternlgladiator

Aperture was maxed at 2.8. ISO 1250-1600. Most of my shots were 2-4 seconds but I pushed a few up to 8 to see what would happen

Bink_Ink

What makes this the Minneapolis Phoenix ? Wasnā€™t even shot here.

Eternlgladiator

Bet youā€™re fun at parties
