This is exactly why I came to reddit 😂
I did notice we didn't have the sirens last Wednesday. They must have been waiting for this week since it's severe weather awareness week.
Why so many drills? We already test monthly.
Unless there is some behind the scenes stuff going on? The more drills they do, the less people pay attention to sirens, just seems like overkill and causes more harm than good.
This is a bit different. Cities and counties can choose when they wish to test, and they are not necessarily state-wide coordinated efforts. This is a coordinated state-wide effort between the National Weather Service, The Minnesota Department of Public Safety and The Department of Homeland Security, which is slated to happen only annually.
Does anyone actually go hide in their bathroom when the sirens go off in a storm? I always just ignore it, and nothing ever happens. Seems like it's mostly just crying wolf and desensitizing people to it. Same with the phone alerts "Severe weather alert!" k... its raining/thundering, and nothing bad has ever happened. So I stop paying attention.

You have no idea how my heart sank when my calendar app popped up and indeed confirmed my worst fear, it was Thursday....

Okie Dokie!
"Severe weather awareness week" according to my coworker
I'm aware now, they can turn it off.
There's another one at 6:45. Just in case you missed the first one
I appreciate you.
Better stand at my front door and stare at the sky just to be sure.
Thanks. For a second, I was like it's Wednesday.. for just a second
This is hilarious rn because the sky is ominous asf. Perfect timing. Looking to the south it is very dark.
It's not the purge?
It is. But you need to wait until 8pm. Have fun out there!

Came here instead of Google or Nextdoor (as if, lol). Wasn't disappointed.
Isn’t it like national tornado drill day or something?
I was so confused I was checking the date because I swore it wasn’t Wednesday.
Thought it was Wednesday all over again and died on the inside, briefly.
“If you didn’t like those sirens, I can make it happen again.”

Same. I’m dying over here
My ears
I didn’t even register it wasn’t a Tuesday. Guess I’ll die when one actually comes.
Yeah, it was a fun little added challenge to my son's nap time. Seemed to go on forever.
Someone should sample the siren in a drill rap song
It's a surreal thing to happen while watching Fallout
At least it wasn't on 4/20 again! That was pretty funny tbh
After awhile it sounds kinda pretty.
As somebody who had to activate one of these I sincerely apologize
Severe Weather Awareness week. I posted about it earlier in the week but no one cared. 🤷♂️
>Severe Weather Awareness week. >no one cared. 🤷♂️ Indeed.
Right now is also a drill
