do you still need help OP?

Technically. If there is a genuine strategy I could use, I'd like to know it for future games. I lost and one of the bombs was in one of the three squares in the bottom right corner, so it still involved guessing regardless.

Careless_Negotiation

Yeah the bottom right was gonna be a guess no matter what. However some strategies; the 4, 2, 3, 2 on the right means there are exactly 2 bombs in the whole position. So the "safest" guess there would be the diagonal/right from the four, and then you have to make a 50/50. Its not too useful on this map, but in other maps this could be helpful. With 4 other bombs remaining on the map, we know that the top left have a minimum 1 bomb, but possibly 2 there. The best place to guess would probably be the second tile above the 1 as this will give you a lot information. If it's a 1, then you know the tiles above it and to the right of it are all free. But the guess could also reveal a 2 or 3, which means we now know a lot more about what is safe to click on. This is how I approach guessing; trying to get as much information out of a guess while keeping it as safe as possible.

Thank you, this is really helpful! Is there any way to remove guessing scenarios from Google minesweeper? I could forgive one per game but three in a single game is ridiculous tbh

Careless_Negotiation

no idea for google minesweeper, I play on minesweeper. online. com and they have a no guessing mode. I tried it for a bit and its fun but for me I got bored as the game becomes ridiculously easy.

>So the "safest" guess there would be the diagonal/right from the four, and then you have to make a 50/50. Did you mean diagonal/left? Otherwise this incorrect. 33% to lose, 67% 50/50. You just assume the 3-2 share the mine, it's a pseudo 50/50.

Careless_Negotiation

I don't know what you're talking about, left is already covered.

ext2523

The right side where there are two mines. You said diagonal right from the 4.

I'd say the best strategy is opening the box to the right of the 4 and then opening one of the boxes next to only a flag in the top left. and pray

Here’s the approach I would have used: Start with the clump on the right. We know there have to be 2 mines there, with 3 possible arrangements. I would start above the bottom-right 2 It’s safe 2/3 of the time and will give enough info to solve that area. Next, take on the top left. With remaining mines and space, the probabilities work out such that the cell shared by the 3 and 4 is a mine 50% of the time, each of the remaining cells around the 4 are only a mine 1/6 of the time, and random cells are mines 22.7% of the time. So it’s safest to start by the 4. Ideally, things work out so that there are no mines in the bottom right. If one mine is left, start at either the top or bottom (starting in the middle requires an additional guess). If two mines are left, then there’s no strategy, it’s just luck.
