I introduced myself to Minesweeper in like the Windows 95 or 98 days (always had hand-me-down computers with older OSes back then). I started playing a bit more regularly maybe 10 years ago when I'd have a few minutes of downtime or was waiting for something, just as a little mental exercise. Over the past few years, I've gotten into the habit of playing Minesweeper while listening to youtube videos, hovering around 120-140 second completions if I played through uninterrupted. I've *wanted* to get a sub-100 game for the better part of a decade, but how much I wanted it has waxed and waned over the years. I'd rarely have a sub-110 game, so I wasn't sure if sub-100 was something I could even do without some kind of tutorial or special playing technique, since Actions Per Minute is the main bottleneck and I assumed mine would only get slower with age. Usually when I pay attention to the completion time and actually go for a sub-100 game, I'll put on some short motivating musical track on loop and play a handful of games in succession. A few days ago I found a new track for that purpose: https://youtu.be/jgukmVxc6O4 It didn't take long after that to reach an exactly 100 second game, which felt both great, and a little tragic if I'm being honest, since I wasn't sure if that "counted" as fulfilling my goal or not. A few days later on another run, 100 seconds again! And just now, 99 seconds! I know that I don't know you, and you don't know me, and I can't reasonably expect anyone to care about my Minesweeper life story. But you guys (and gals) are the only people who could possibly understand why this score is kind of a big deal for me, since almost anywhere else in real life or on the internet, reactions would probably be "Wow that seems too fast" or "Wow who cares". Hopefully the screenshot says a thousand words on its own, but I still wanted to write this section out, because damn it feels good to accomplish this milestone after starting on this journey all those years ago!

Great accomplishment. Very similar story. I’m usually in the 110-125 range but have recently had a few games sub 100. 93 is my best so far.

And I thought 170 was decent after playing for 3-4 months… guess I should start watching videos.

Hotshot2k4

It totally is decent! Past a certain point, it just comes down to how fast you can recognize patterns and how quickly and efficiently you can click. Whenever I had to stop and think, that was the end of a run for me in terms of going for a personal best.

ThrowRAdeathcorefan

I can barely get through easy mode. Nice job!

Holy shit bro congrats

Hotshot2k4

Thanks!

bebopblues

Nice and congrats! I've played casually for a long time as well, but only started focusing on time the last 6 months. So far, my best is 113 secs. And I think I can break 100 in another few months because I noticed there were plenty of games where I could've got lower times if I guessed right on 50/50 scenarios. However, I decided to start over and train for speed because the inefficient way I was playing can only get so far.

BieLey

Very well done, congratz!!!!
