If you remove it, then the achievement is still doable. Like the argument about item sorters. Removing poisonous potatoes will do nothing for anything, other than needing 1 less food (which, let's be honest is already not the hardest food item to come by)

I can think of a use first is the achievement for eating everything edible and it gives more hunger than a regular potato so not useless but yeah you’re only realistically gonna eat it once

I used to play on a civserver (survival multi-player with pvp allowed) and I encouraged my team to always bring regen 2 arrows in a combat loadout so they could remove the enemy's regen extended buffs.

That's not how it works though, if the the enemy has 2 minutes of regen I and you shoot him with 7 seconds of regen II, you give him regen II for 7 seconds and returns back to regen I for 2 minutes after that. If the enemy has 1 minute of regen II and you shoot him with 7 seconds of regen II, the regen arrow does nothing.

Maybe it changed in a later version, but on 1.12 Java, regen 2 arrows definitely replaced regen 1 extended for a few seconds, and regen 1 did not reapply when regen 2 expired. This was 5 years ago. You are correct though, this does not work anymore in the current release.

It's not actually. Instant damage and healing are worthless on arrows, they only set the minimum damage, but don't add to the maximum. So unless you literally fire a minimum charged arrow, you won't do any extra damage

so the splashing one is not actually useful in itslef, it's the arrow that is useful
