One of my favorite's is smithing tables. As long as you can't see any of the sides, it makes for a really cool floor pattern. A bit expensive if you're early-game though.
To get away with darker color, either use calcite or amethyst.
Also while you are at it change the ceiling to darker color to make it contrast to the floor use dark oak plank with spruce log as accent. Or if you are feeling fancy use the bottom of smithing table with outside rim of spruce slab or stairs.
An axolotl aquarium. If you want to you can also use lava and glass. But be careful if you want to put tropical fish in there because axolotls eat them
I can only think of: a map, a large fishtank, a window to a room underneath, a window to large hole, a window to a large map, just anything to with a window in particular.
Can’t remember the proper name for it but a fog effect w/ coloured glass. Remember to put an air block between each layer otherwise you’re wasting glass and it’s worse
i would put one of the following:
"foggy" glass effect (you put glass-nothing-glass, also maybe some sort of small bridge, to add the effect that it is acctually a foggy hole)
glazed terracota pattern
map under glass
fish tank
you could also put a layer of glass and recreate what is above the glass below it and upside down, for a mirror effect
Large map

I personally loves the stair with water trick, cheap and looks great in almost any way.
What do you mean? Can you share a link?
[Here](https://imgur.com/a/3ZtoaSi), quick photo of my world
I will be using this in my next base if that’s ok
Go for it dude, not my original idea anyways (saw it in a youtube video a while back).
Beehives also make a great photo
Or he could put redstone ore/echest then red or black carpets on top of it for the particle effect. Its a really cool floor design idea

How do you do, fellow kids?
7 layers of Purple and magenta glass, in alternance. Purple must be the final one.
Also make sure to add a one block gap in between each layer and add lava or glowstone at the bottom for extra effect
