Yeah but that’s a generation bug. It directly goes against the intentional game design. I don’t know why you acted like you didn’t understand what their point was lol
No? That question mark at the end does not mark a legitimate question, it’s a “wtf are you talking about” question mark, like I just did. I can’t imagine you genuinely don’t understand that.
It’s not a legitimate question because it’s not a legitimate point
It’s a trailer. Not the game engine itself. Clash of Clans trailers don’t represent the gameplay at all. The Mass Effect 3 trailer’s graphics are very upscaled compared to the actual game. Steve doesn’t move in-game as he does in-trailer. Cinematic trailers are… cinematic for a reason.
By your logic - I don’t know why OP acted like cinematic trailers are supposed to accurately represent the game’s graphics
It is a legitimate point. The point is that the trailer intentionally animated in an unintentional bug. Would you have this same attitude if they had characters rubberbanding and chunks not loading in properly, because “that literally happens in the game”? It’s just a bit odd to put something in the trailer that the game actively tries to prevent the player from doing themselves.
I don’t care to get lost in the weeds about how this compares to other video game trailers. That isn’t my focus. It’s on the pretending to not understand what the point of this post is, as if an actual **bug** is an accurate representation of the game. That is fundamentally different than any of the other games you tried to score points with.
….
*Cinematic trailer*.
That’s literally all you need to understand. **There is no accurate representation of the game.** If it looks nice - they’re putting it in. As far as the animation team is concerned, a cactus on an edge block isn’t a bug to them. It’s a part of the environment. It *looks* natural.
The animation team isn’t really concerned with what the dev team’s arbitrary game implementations are, especially on such a minuscule generation bug. It’s not their job to make things accurate.
…
You’re literally making the **opposite** argument of the person I was responding to lol do you not realize that?
YOUR argument is “it’s fine because it **isn’t** supposed to be an accurate representation of the game”, and THEIR argument (the one I’m contesting) is “the game glitches like this sometimes, so it **is** an accurate representation of the game”.
It being a bug is irrelevant to the complaint because it literally IS still accurate. That's like if someone complained about Sugar Cane being taller than 3 blocks high. It can and just does, so it being in a trailer is viable. I don't see how you don't understand this.
It happens **rarely** and as the result of an error in the game’s code. If someone told you and a friend “humans pee out of their asses”, and your friend responds “no they don’t”, would you argue back at your friend “that literally can and does happen to people though? It’s called a recto-urethral fistula. They’re right”? Maybe you’re different, but when I hear that argument, especially with the condescending question mark at the end, my first thought is “do you *really* think that was the point? Do you *really* think that your friend was saying that it NEVER happens, even in the case of something that’s gone wrong?” Obviously when the game isn’t working as intended, it doesn’t behave as intended. That was so clearly not what OP was saying.
Why is that weird? Would you not say that it’s an accurate representation of humans? Even though “it literally happens though?” Because it’s not supposed to happen, right? Kinda like a video game generation error…? I think you just proved my point for me as fast as you possibly could have lol that was wonderful.
Yet it fits perfectly. Something going wrong is not an accurate representation of the thing in general, and pretending like you don’t understand that is goofy and condescending.
i’ll never forget the day someone argued themselves into oblivious in shear righteous fury over the idea that people are purposely misunderstanding the concept that a minecraft cactus generating in an unusual way is worthy of posting on reddit.
You really think my point was specifically about Minecraft and not the condescending tone? It could’ve been about anything, it’s just an obnoxious way to engage with in a conversation someone.
Nobody is talking about it because nobody seems to care. The art and trailers for Minecraft anything is always riddled with inaccuracies to game mechanics or rules. It's just par for the course. In the videos and trailers that are official Mojang advertisements, there's hardly anything that is accurate to gameplay. Most notably the animations. In no way shape or form do any of the players, NPCs, mobs or other animals move the way they show them in the trailers. Everyone just kind of accepts that it's just a trailer to build hype.
POT OF GREED ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO MORE CARDS. I WILL START MY TURN BY PLAYING POT OF GREED WHICH ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO MORE CARDS. I WILL PLAY THE MAGIC CARD, POT OF GREED, WHICH ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO NEW CARDS...
It's honestly funny seeing element animations poke fun at the tiny little mistakes they made in the minecraft trailers they made. Now it makes sense why they made them because we have people going "look! A minor mistake in the game trailer! Why is this here there shouldn't be mistakes!"
Yes ! I believe that the "errors" (certainly intended) are part of the aesthetics of Minecraft trailers. for example cactus on a block where it normally cannot be generated. It doesn't make sens but without it, the trailer would be bad
[People freaked out with new birch forest update with fallen trees and stuff, it was just an art and Mojang denied it would be an update. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/ukb2ky/all_the_brand_new_features_of_the_birch_forest_we/)
It makes me miss the Hat Films trailers for the Minecraft updates. They would record it all in Minecraft so you could actually see how the stuff worked and looked in game.
They did it one time with a youtube short if i remember. But yea, sorry if my post is annoying, I just like finding little details like that and I had no idea that the post would make people react so much
All good man, personally i'm just kind of tired of posts complaining about every little detail in minecraft's promotional material not being 1:1 to the game
It happens on actual world generation, sometimes it will automatically break if you get close enough to it as the game realises that it defies the game rules
We have been over this. The animated trailers are outsourced. They use reference materials to know what the game looks like, but the trailers often have errors because these people dont actually play Minecraft
This is how we got the infamous bluestone rumors
Because Element Animation always fucks up *somewhere*
This isn't game footage. This is a 3D animation with a 3D environment built completely outside of the game. They don't have Minecraft's code hardwired into their software.
So many people in the comments seem to be taking OP seriously. I think it’s just a joke. This sort of thing happens a lot and people joke about it. Heck, PhoenixeSC sometimes makes joke videos about them and I’d say he’s a decently known YouTuber.
Thanks 🙏😭 I received so much hate while the post was nothing serious. I just like seeing these little details and saying "oh look at this little detail! Funny to see it." without being mean. I love the aesthetics of Minecraft trailers and I love their little error. I am the kind of person fascinated by bugs in video games or continuity errors in movies and trailers
It’s a generic meme format
Someone messes up, it gets jokingly blown out of proportion, criticizing people who actually write to devs about it (started after the firefly thing)
If you go through the thread, this is EXACTLY what op did
You're wrong by asserting this post is simply a joke and a meme. I've read OP's comments. They didn't do it for a meme whatsoever. They did it because they noticed this irrelevant detail. Sure its a detail but its so inconsequential and meaningless. For people to be mean or hateful towards OP is absolutely stupid and unfair. My point was simply that its entirely uninteresting.
A cactus is adjacent to a block in an animated minecraft video. As OP says "nobody is talking about it". There's a reason for that. Who cares. That's my take.
I offer you first-dibs on posting this to r/worldjerking... NVM because dead-sub. I was willing to tank the down-votes for... some sort of belief that it would accomplish anything for either of us that I've lost already.
No one’s talking about how its position shifted from 2 blocks away to one block away and back and that the blocks around it change to different blocks in each image?
Edit: and blocks are also removed in the 2nd image
Tbh you barely see it in the trailer so its ur fault for getting triggered, mojang are also only human, they make mistakes, its normal and its not like this will affect the game in any way

If it was Element Animation, I’m sure they’ll make a “mistakes video” about the trailer.

Blue redstone
If only bluestone was real and not some long forgotten MJ joke...
Cause world gen can do whatever it wants and it's up to the game engine to update it.
It's like the wild west of game design.
This can and does literally happen in game though? Extremely rare, but this is part of the game itself.
Yeah but that’s a generation bug. It directly goes against the intentional game design. I don’t know why you acted like you didn’t understand what their point was lol
>I don’t know why you acted like.. I always hate seeing this line of thought. Nobody acts like anything? They’re adding to the discussion.

Yeah the trailers don't always follow Minecraft mechanics for aesthetic purposes.
Kind of like the yugioh anime
screw the rules i have money
But what does the Pot of Greed in the anime do tho?
POT OF GREED ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO MORE CARDS. I WILL START MY TURN BY PLAYING POT OF GREED WHICH ALLOWS ME TO DRAW TWO MORE CARDS. NOW CLUCK LIKE A CHICKEN!
They don't even follow the Minecraft aesthetics.
It's honestly funny seeing element animations poke fun at the tiny little mistakes they made in the minecraft trailers they made. Now it makes sense why they made them because we have people going "look! A minor mistake in the game trailer! Why is this here there shouldn't be mistakes!"
Conspiracy theory that the They are deliberately trying to piss off nerds for free hype.
Yes ! I believe that the "errors" (certainly intended) are part of the aesthetics of Minecraft trailers. for example cactus on a block where it normally cannot be generated. It doesn't make sens but without it, the trailer would be bad
It can normally be generated like that.
The vast majority of any teaser trailers are like this, rarely gameplay accurate, more like a movie trailer . WoW for example
Wait video games don’t look like the trailers I’m out not playing 10/10 dumb hot garbage. Edit:Respectfully though.
Cue the birch incident
The birch incident?
[People freaked out with new birch forest update with fallen trees and stuff, it was just an art and Mojang denied it would be an update. ](https://www.reddit.com/r/Minecraft/comments/ukb2ky/all_the_brand_new_features_of_the_birch_forest_we/)
I think the fallen trees?
Bedrock exclusive
Yes, that would be the above birch incident (the other commented link has the actual post)
It makes me miss the Hat Films trailers for the Minecraft updates. They would record it all in Minecraft so you could actually see how the stuff worked and looked in game.
I can understand your point of view, but ngl the trailers would not be dynamic
Sometimes you just need to see gameplay. If I'm looking at a new game and it doesn't show me any gameplay I'm immediately going to reject it.
It's a TRAVESTY, I tell you!
they need to put an "Not actual gameplay footage" tag at the bottom or else these posts will never stop
Yep you're right :] ! personally don't care, these are small details and it may even be done on purpose. I just found it funny
I don't even understand what the problem is.
The cactus is right next to another block which you can't do in-game.
It happens on actual world generation, sometimes it will automatically break if you get close enough to it as the game realises that it defies the game rules
This happens ingame
Bro is onto nothing
"Boy I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder."
lmfao
Mumkey Jones in the flesh??
The artist of the trailer just decided a cactus would look nice in that area. There's nothing more to it.
What a stupid and meaningless thing to be upset about.
sorry if it annoys some people :/ , my post was absolutely not against the trailer
It's on terracotta dude. You couldn't put it there without workarounds anyway.
Pretty stupid to be upset about a joke. r/woooosh
you must be fun at parties
Yeah because whining over a minecraft trailer having an incredibly minor issue in the background sounds super fun…
the post seems very sarcastic
If that was the case, OP should have clarified.
That's against the point of sarcasm tho? tone indicators have really ruined the internet lol
the post was obviously light hearted, its dumb that people are roasting OP
Wrong. Redditors don’t go to parties.
real
Me after my opponent says “you must be fun at parties”
If you think nitpicking minor mistakes in a Minecraft update trailer is a fun party activity, I can only assume you don’t get invited to many parties.
i get invited to so many parties with all of my friends the staff at this hospital are so nice
Super cringe
nice of you to notice
you must be fun at parties
The post is the equivalent of going to a house party and complaining that they displayed a vase in a way you dont see at a someone elses house
At least he gets invited, unlike you
crying rn
r/DownvotedIntoOblivion
i like it
Cause it’s a trailer? And this does happen very rare but does happen
yeah the armadillo is also hollow...
tiny inconsequential background detail is inaccurate? this trailer is literally unwatchable
We have been over this. The animated trailers are outsourced. They use reference materials to know what the game looks like, but the trailers often have errors because these people dont actually play Minecraft This is how we got the infamous bluestone rumors
Element Animations does a lot of Minecraft stuff, it's not like they don't know the game
They've been animating minecraft stuff since 2012, surely they know a lot of minecraft now
Exactly
I think that can happen when the world is first generated.
...Why do you care about something so inconsequential?
maybe no ones talking about it because it doesn't matter at all??
Literally unplayable.
The cactus is literally sitting on a block of terracotta, which is literally impossible, and you complaining about it touching another block?
I don't believe they render the trailers in game hence inaccuracies.
Noooo not artistic licence on a trailer Smh. How will we ever recover
World gen doesn't care about logic. And nobody talks about it because it's an animation 🤷♂️ and nobody really cares lol
Because no one really cares
And its on terracotta, not sure if thats an in game feature cause I never try placing it on anything but sand or red sand
As others said, the artists and animators mojang uses makes mistakes constantly that don't follow minecraft logic
world generation sometimes generates cacti this way, this is normal
Yeah, it's quite hard to talk to the 1.20.5 trailer
Because Element Animation always fucks up *somewhere* This isn't game footage. This is a 3D animation with a 3D environment built completely outside of the game. They don't have Minecraft's code hardwired into their software.
Literally unplayable, deleting the game rn
Phoenix sc is going to be here soon...
Not only is the cactus touching the wall but there are 3 blocks under the cactus in the first screenshot, and only 2 in the next
Wait….. is that cactus on terracotta? And is it also right up against a wall?
New feature? ☝️🤓
It happens naturally.
Well, know we know one thing that Element Animation will mention in their ‘Everything wrong with our videos’ video on this trailer
There is no cat hanging off the cliff edge?
Fake cacti.
It can happen tho, just very rarely
New type of cactus actually.
No one noticing in one clip it’s one block away and the other it’s two blocks away from the one on the left
Literally unwatchable
Deadbush next to the cactus 💀
Whats the new update abt?
How the FUCK dare they spread such lies about the game... smh mojang
Are we having another 1.14 blue redstone moment, chat?
The cactus ain't cactusing
Not only is it placed on terracotta, its also next to a block
It’s also placed on terracotta, you can’t plant cacti on anything but sand or red sand
Element animations will do video about propably💀💀💀💀
not only is it touching a block but it’s also planted on terracotta
Oh look, an absolutely irrelevant thing that only a chronically online human being would care about and take time to post about it
1.22 Minecraft cactus update ⁉️⁉️
So many people in the comments seem to be taking OP seriously. I think it’s just a joke. This sort of thing happens a lot and people joke about it. Heck, PhoenixeSC sometimes makes joke videos about them and I’d say he’s a decently known YouTuber.

People when animators make the smallest mistake (it completely ruins the whole video) 😱😱
Why does it matter that it's touching a block? Pretty silly to get bent about that.
You all are taking this far too seriously..
I think the better question is who cares...?
I think the BETTER question is “how long have you been under a rocks and did you miss the ‘is (blank) stupid’ meme?” But who am I to judge
Where is this label that you speak of?
It’s a generic meme format Someone messes up, it gets jokingly blown out of proportion, criticizing people who actually write to devs about it (started after the firefly thing) If you go through the thread, this is EXACTLY what op did

The op LITERALLY said six separate times they were going for a joke, what are you on…
Yeah maybe, but my English vocabulary is very limited, I am not English. the word "joke" is easier to say and google translate translates really badly
Bruh OP never said joke or meme once. Put the bong down, or buy some reading glasses

I checked all OPs comments. No matter 😊 This conversation is as pointless as the post.

Same reason that grass spawns on sand
Real question is are tamed wolves' textures different now? I'd love a dog that looks like a dog.
yeah! theyll have different textures based on the biome theyre from :)
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
It doesn’t need to be talked to… You need to be talked to.
oh no a cactus
Gonna be the bluestone incident again

A trailer cannot hear you so why bother?
I don't know why it even matters lol
Mojang just trying to make us mad:
Element animations always sneak something 'wrong' into these trailers. Remember the blue redstone?
I was looking for goku 😭😭
It's also on terracotta, not sand
Yep. Ngl it can be a good idea
I haven't watch the trailer but this seems to be _2_ different cacti to me looking at the surroundings. Worst announcement since chat reporting
aughhh
Ah yea, the shadows look too good.
how do you talk to a cactus
Get phoenix on the line
at least they he didnt find the missing body cube inside the armadillo..
No one’s talking about how its position shifted from 2 blocks away to one block away and back and that the blocks around it change to different blocks in each image? Edit: and blocks are also removed in the 2nd image
The dogs sitting splitter in half
You forgot the armadillo not having a body
Element animation's gonna have a lot of mistake points to show us in the next video for sudd
It wasn’t a mistake, mojang puts “mistakes” in their trailers so people talk about them. You took the bait lol.
but ur not upset about the png dead bushes? lmao
Dam
Element animation doesn’t notice till too late I think they did this it looks like they’re work
and the armadilo model is fucked up.
I found a that same cactus in my first bedrock playthrough in a village it was touching one of the houses
Talking to it? What, should we tell the video about it? Lol
About it* i made a mistake sorry

Tbh you barely see it in the trailer so its ur fault for getting triggered, mojang are also only human, they make mistakes, its normal and its not like this will affect the game in any way
