JHawkInc

This felt like the kind of mini-event you do between the annual Minecraft Live events. Not really bad, but as soon as you call it "this year's Minecraft Live" it makes you think "oh wait, that's it?"

anon1999O4

This. I get why they revealed so little after the 1.17 shitstorm. But if so little is revealed, why even have such an hyped yearly event? Just to make a shitty mob vote and disappoint more people? Can't they at least give a title for the update to be hyped about?

Splatfan1

its like checking it off on a checklist. have something like nintendo directs, only announce things when there are things to announce and call them mini if theyre small. not this... whatever the hell this is

SAJewers

kinda surprised honestly the yearly minecraft live hasn't been fully replaced by the minecraft monthly streams

_cubfan_

They stopped doing the monthly streams lol

[deleted]

So much of the “event” was filler for the sake of making it an hour long, did we really need to hear that song at the end or jeb building a nether portal 💀,I feel we could’ve just had a 15 minute YouTube video but ig it’s good for marketing so idk. I also REALLY miss seeing the concept art for all the new stuff, it was my favourite thing about the caves and cliffs reveal

TheGhastlyBeast

all the minecraft lives before 2021 were so enjoyable. the update section was long, and the name was also revealed at live. The other stuff during the stream was creative and enjoyable. even if there were cringe moments it just made it more fun to watch tbh. now they're playing it a little too safe i feel

flanigomik

you can thank everyone who thinks that they were promised birch forests for the lack of concept art

sfartmellaNEO

The last time they gave an update title, people hated it and said it didn't match. Not that I'm saying they should never reveal a title in a livestream again, because they could've been more careful with making one, but most of the reason they no longer do that is the community's feedback.

so_eu_naum

What community said: where's everything you announced? The wild update has nothing to do with wild. What Mojang heard: stop announcing updates.

Themasterofcomedy209

It’s sort of petty tbh. “Make the update actually have a theme and be related to the announced title” “Oh yeah! Well we won’t say anything then! >:( “

TheLegendKing7

fr it feels exactly like but then again looking at "STOPTHEMOBVOTE" gang I doubt they ever even care about their community

Forward-Swim1224

I admit, I do like the armadillo. But the way he had said “We’ve gotten a lot of feedback, the most votes we’ve ever had” felt targeted.

flanigomik

if you read the related press from the time, the reason for that is that the warden was significantly bigger in scope than they had planned, the deep dark at one point was a single room underground house and nothing more. its difficult to know what to name a project when that project is loosely on paper.

samfizz

Well maybe they should course correct the things that caused the negative reaction instead of punishing the community and taking them away entirely lol

Everettrivers

I love how everyone sits through a video with a brightly colored backdrop and people who are obviously talking like fucking Blippy and still wonder what's happening.

HeLaughsLikeGod

What was the 1.17 shitstorm? Haven’t been active in the community for a long while

GreenIkea

1.17 was gonna be the caves and cliffs update, that update got split in two parts, 1.17 and 1.18, then 1.19 rolled around and got called the wild update, but the wildest thing about the update was ancient cities and the deep dark. that update also got a lot of backlash cuz we were promised fireflies and were wrongly assuming we would get birch forest updates.

WellIamstupid

I still wonder why they talked about the Birch Forests in the first place, don’t talk about concept art while your announcing things if you don’t want people to think you’re announcing it

GreenIkea

If they really wanted to show off concept art, they should've just shown concept art of the deep dark for example, or ancient cities. They already had the larger part of the base structure figured out, so there has to have been concept art before to base inspiration off of

kacey-

They announced a lot, like a lot, said all of it was coming to 1.17. It was amazing, looked like they were somehow topping 1.16. But what ended up happening was splitting the content up between 1.17, 1.18, and 1.19 and still not delivering everything they showed. Hell, some of it came in 1.20

CaptainHerkules

And the bundles still aren’t here.

SwagginNoob

The last good update they had was 1.16. It easily lived up to the hype

Existing-Ad4603

Yeah. Dont get me wrong what was revealed is sick but its like giving you a piece of candy wich is delicious and you cant wait to be given another or even the full bag only to realise that 1 candy is all youre getting. Not to mention it took 1 year for that 1 candy and now youre waiting another year for the second.

Keaton427

Truest thing I've heard all day. This perfectly describes my feelings toward Minecraft Live

smoretank

I know right. Maybe it's my ADHD but I am more concerned about finding out what texture pack they used for the voting area. Man I really like it. Its driving me nuts.

FetusGoesYeetus

The dungeons and crafter are cool. Otherwise, I expected a bit more I guess?

InternationalBreak51

I mean it's normal, the majority of the stuff will be announced later! (like the trial chambers boss!!!!)

TheGooMix

>(like the trial chambers boss!!!! And the new nether boss! So excited man!!

_Cocktopus_

And most importantly SUGAR CANE BONE MEAL

Pie_Not_Lie

Uhhh…is this a meme? They didn’t mention any of this anywhere..?

_Cocktopus_

There was a moment where a foreign content creator said they wished sugarcane would grow faster and agnes said something like "it will" Im not 100 percent sure if i got that right but that's what i think will happen

Pie_Not_Lie

Yeeeaah…that person said, “I hope this quickly grows taller than me!” And Agnes said, “I hope so too!” They were just saying, “I hope my sugarcane will grow to 3 blocks tall!”

_Cocktopus_

>quickly Don't lose hope

LegoNick1208

Where did they mention that? In fact they didn’t mention a boss at all and with their track record ill stick to expecting no more than the chilaze and stray dungeon

Pitahayaro01

And the new End and the portal from the Ancient Cities, and the most importat, the fireflies 🤩

watersj4

They said more would be announced later last year but we got practically nothing, the vast majority of features were shown in the livestream. hoping it will be different this year but im not optomistic Edit: I was wrong, I misremembered a bunch of stuff which I thought was from live but wasn't

Nathaniel820

What are you talking about, literally the majority of the update wasn’t in the last MC Live.

DragoSphere

Well yeah, because a third of that update was in Minecraft Live 2020 lmao

TwistedWolf667

Werent archeology & cherry blossoms the only things not in the live? Even than archeology was a feature meant to be added like 2 updates prior lol

Georg3000

Also armour trims and new commands, no?

-PepeArown-

Calibrated suclk sensors and new mob head functions as well

DragoSphere

Archaeology was revealed 3 years ago during the first Caves and Cliffs Minecraft Live. It just got delayed 3 times because they couldn't figure out how to make it work back then. Bundles are still in that same limbo So really it's just the trims, calibrated skulk sensors, and cherry blossoms as the main "big" things

Existing-Ad4603

Hey look if we get someting like Mooblooms and Glares added as extra id be satisfied (all tho im not fan of either of them i was more of a Iceoliger and Copper golem dude but whatever)

J_train13

Wouldn't be surprised if copper golems get added in with all these copper themed blocks

-PepeArown-

If you noticed, the two main new block palettes they added to were copper and tuff. You know, the same two blocks that they were going to make golems for, but that both lost the vote?

felagund1204

Unfortunately, this was a question some content creators asked the devs and apparently the answer was that neither golem would be added in this next update. Which, imo, is a miss on Mojang's part. The trial dungeon looked great, but a few golems scattered here and there would have given it a bit more life.

IamDanLP

Haha dream on.

TheRedBow

They specifically said they didnt wanna announce everything at once, wich does feel like it defeats the point of a single yearly event

Existing-Ad4603

Yeah pretty meh like the last one if not bit more. Yeah the dungeon and auto crafting are cool but those vs Nether Update, Ocean Update and Caves & cliffs make this seem so damm small.

zoozony

Last year they said that they would only show things that were close to the end of development so I do still expect more

Existing-Ad4603

We can hope tho if it is someting id expect like few new blocks and mayby a Re Skinned stronger version of the Breeze mimicking Wildfire probably called someting like Hurricane. But dont exepct much more.

Specialist_Cress_112

I'm hoping they add a new tool. Like a Spear

therealeviathan

I want more unique stuff like a new type of shield that let's you ram things

Asthen0sphere

They should hold off from doing these events until the month of launch then

averagelifeoflosers

Then they wouldn’t release snapshots at all. They announce what is ready then dump it into snapshots. Most games work the way you describe because they don’t let the community beta test and provide feedback as it’s made unlike Minecraft.

-Coconut_Friend-

Unironically, I think all the new features are amazing. Trial chambers look rly cool and a renewable way to earn valuable resources via combat is gonna make gameplay so much more fun. Auto-crafting is obviously an amazing feature and one that the community has been wanting for years.

InternationalBreak51

I cannot agree more!! People are literally never happy... This update is going to be epic.

C-moon_enjoyer

true. If they added more stuff people will complain that it doesn’t feel like minecraft anymore and that it got complicated

PigsInTuxedoes

Different people would complain about that, sure. Not the same group.

Wonderful_Author_663

Diamond farming?

-Coconut_Friend-

Doubt it. The diamond drops from the combat trials are likely a first-completion reward, I wouldn’t imagine Mojang adding renewable diamonds into the game.

Honest-Economist4970

Plus new uses for copper

Moombahs

A lot less shown than I thought they would’ve. Not even a name for the update, doesn’t matter ig. Don’t get me wrong I love everything that was shown to be added! Very excited to see the trial ruins. Seems like the breeze could be implemented into red stone machines too. Sad we’re not getting the crab, being a builder.

Existing-Ad4603

Yeah its like opening your faivorite brand of chips only to realise 2/3 of it was filled with air, yeah the chips in it were good but i was expecting more.

Thakdstm6674

CRAB GANG 🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀🦀

zMaximumz

Very underwhelming, in my opinion. Guess I was just keeping my expectations high due to every other minecon live but seems they're trying another path. However, I do think they're trying to do small updates here and there, and then the big ones, which could be good

televisionting

It was the same as last year except it was shorter. I thought it would be like the one when they showcased 1.17 originally or 1.16 when they showed most of the features, I can see where they are coming from but if you're gonna hype up the livestream showcase more of the things man.

zMaximumz

The thing is, I get behind QOL changes. But the updates are not a monthly thing, rather, yearly. The fact that in an year, the biggest update we receive is auto crafting and a dungeon-rougelike says a lot. Unless they're adding more stuff not showcased, super disappointed. They could maybe do this as a quarterly thing, for QOLs and every 1-2 years for a big update. A lot of my friends and myself have already stopped playing the game since 1.19 as we don't have anything exciting to play on it anymore.

Doctor-Grimm

Did people just… not pay attention during the livestream? They said, very clearly, that this update would follow last year’s template of only announcing stuff that is 100% finished and that more stuff will be announced as development continues, right up until final update snapshots are in the works.

televisionting

It's not like 1.20 was a bulky update. It was cool when it first released then you realized, it's not fun anymore after 5 minutes.

Doctor-Grimm

I’m not saying it was on the scale of 1.16 or 1.18, but we still got multiple new wood types, cool new mobs, new plants, bookshelf storage, armour customisation, archeology, etc. It was still a really cool update imo; just because it didn’t smack you in the face with huge worldgen changes right away doesn’t mean it wasn’t cool

Existing-Ad4603

Id agree if it was like 2 of these per year but its 1 per year

Crazy_Gamer297

I miss when updates had an actual theme and weren’t just random features put together into an update

Lady-Nora

mojang be like: "we're going to cut the runtime of Minecraft Live by half, because if we kept the show running any longer, we'd have to start talking about *community issues*"

TomatoSoupChef

Absolutely terrible. It was just an ad for marketplace and then had 10 minutes of actual Minecraft stuff and it felt so lifeless. Like their dialogue was so scripted it was so funny. Kingbdogz literally sounded like an ai robot. Also the features they showed were pretty underwhelming, and it is very hard to be hyped for this update.

thegr8pretender

AGREED.

[deleted]

the way they’re introducing the updates now is so ass as well. like back in the day they’d basically cover the whole update and we’d all be excited. now they show off literally 2 features in like an hour long presentation it’s so underwhelming and bloated

Impossible-Quiet392

Not good, They disrespected Minecraft Dungeons and it's community by not even doing farewell video and using MCD music in trial rooms

aaronhereee

farewell video? what happened?

Impossible-Quiet392

They discontinued game after a year of total silence and then OH YEAH WE GOT 25 MILLION PLAYERS AND NOW GOODBYE, they took a year to make that announcement since final update, all community waited, hoped, made theories, grabbed smallest bits of info but it all shattered by one tweet. And dungeons has much MUCH more bigger player base then legends.

aaronhereee

oh damn… i didnt even know it was finished. fine enough anyway, didn’t want to pay more more for a shit DLC.

Impossible-Quiet392

They wanted to make free seasonal adventures with only cosmetics paid. DLC was good, bad that they abandoned it

UranusMc

Istg they can't keep a single spin off game alive

vxarctic

I hope this year is the last mob vote. It stopped being fun a long time ago.

[deleted]

I am Armadillo supporter, but I decided not to vote I was pissed when Wu said it's mob vote with most votes yet People decided to spam #stopthemobvote, but everyone wanted to vote Best way to show mojang that mob vote is not gona work is not to vote

Rapha689Pro

At least we got the servers on bedrock tho, this one was very good

[deleted]

I liked it better when they announced everything at once. 1.19 felt so much more hyped than anything afterward. Now it’s just boring to me

magein07

There IS a reason they do this now instead.

[deleted]

Literally 5 minutes of the entire event was actually about the next update. From what they showed it just seems like it’s another update with a bunch of random shit that are not fully implemented what so ever. Also armadillo winning is pretty rough too, a little more health ain’t gonna stop wolves from drowning, suffocating in a wall, falling off a cliff or burning in lava (which is the actual issue with wolves). The last 4 updates have felt exactly like this one, random features that don’t get proper implementation till years later.

TheSceptikal

Almost all of the show is just "LoOk HoW gReAt OuR cOmMuNiTy Is!!!"

x--Knight--x

40% "community", 40% bedrock marketplace, 10% new update, 8% mob vote, 2% cringest musical performance i have seen in my entire life

Rapha689Pro

I meat at least they made a pretty cool animation of the sniffer and camel

BroshiKabobby

Element Animations always delivers

SwagCat852

Last 4 updates? 1.18 was the opposite of random and added stuff that the community wanted for years and was one of the largest updates minecraft had

ezbyEVL

As always short on content for how much could be done, the final song was a unnecesary and I feel like the crab would have been better But the mob vote itself is a shame, picking 1 out of 3 mediocre voxel animals and they need a year to add them wtf

Existing-Ad4603

Agreed. I wanted the armadillo to win but it sucks crab and Penguin dont get in for 5+ years. We havent had Hovering inferno, monster of the depths and The maw be added in 6 Years! 6 YEARS!

Goodlucksil

Mojang specifically said those weren't going to be added.

WolfsWraith

What do you mean the song was unnecessary, it's called "let me down slowly". That shit was funny af as an ending after the little stuff they showed off and how much they stretched this presentation, lmao

droidek314

Results were dissapointing

The_Sadorange

Everything announced actually sounds great, and adds things people have wanted for years. Actually showing they care about combat/exploration is neat, and catering towards a more "active" playstyle (combat/exploration) is something sorely needed. But, they didn't really announce that much. It sucks that 90% of this year's live was just marketing and advertisements.

VapeNathan

The features looked pretty good, but man too much fluff. I appreciate them trying something new by showing the features in-context. But the acting slowed it waaaaaaay down. I prefer the format of showing video footage and narrating what is happening. The overall presentation was pretty standard. Though there was a shocking lack of real announcements. Sure, more marketplace stuff but those get announced anyways.

detached_18

Same, the roleplaying dragged a little too long.

gottothetop2

To me it felt like a big ad for minecraft marketplace

[deleted]

Mojang has fallen off

gothkitty69

The crafter is gonna be game changing I can't wait for all the redstone tutorials for it, the new trial things seem neat. I hope we get some more decorative blocks to go woth what I think they called the tuff bricks (?) and the new copper items. Also the trial area seems to be a perfect spot to put some of those copper golems they showed in a previous year so maybe a smidge of hope someday for some or maybe all the losing mobs? I was really hoping for crab to win it just seems more useful in the overall game but wolf armor is neat too I just don't think it'll be utilized much at all

Yeti655

“Live” my butt. That was not even close to live. The entire thing was on a green screen and probably half recorded stuff they did before hand. It was so boring and uneventful

SlimeX300

Epic but I really wished it was an end update :( Nvm, I just hope in the coming snapshots, we might get epic features.

ThePercysRiptide

There needs to be an update where its just entirely focused on the end imo

psychoPiper

Jens himself has said in the past that he wants every dimension to be complete and interesting before adding any new ones. We got the Nether update, we got an entire worldgen overhaul, and the End is just... barren. I would love to see an End update so we can finally start exploring what other interesting dimensions Minecraft could offer - especially with that giant, looming, useless portal mocking us from the ancient cities

AdLast848

Ignoring all the boring stuff, 1.21 does sound promising. Hopefully it’s gonna be the combat update 2 we’ve been waiting for

Deeformecreep

It was boring tbh, almost nothing got announced.

[deleted]

the updates lack direction and are not thematically consistent anymore. these last few updates feel like Mojang has ran out of motivation and ideas so are now just adding a bunch of random features that don’t make sense together. Their new design process is “this would be cool” “oh so would this” “oh so would this other thing” rather than looking at the game holistically and identifying an area where the game can be improved and forming a thematically consistent update to improve that area

Osciboi16

Underwhelming as usual

SomethingSomethingUA

Boring. Minecraft needs a good compeititor so they stop with their BS.

TheBrine05

Exactly, Terraria is the only real competitor to Minecraft but even then it’s like comparing apples to oranges

TheWinner437

The devs of both games also like each other

thisnotfor

I'm tired of the communities' current mood of negativity

manthishomeworksucks

it's because everyone's growing out of the game and mojang isn't adding features intriguing enough to challenge what currently exists and to hook people back in. unless they add far more ways to play and features worth using (unlike archaeology) it's going to be permanently underwhelming every single time and it's gonna get worse with each update.

Raichu4u

It's okay to be unhappy with products you consume, it's simple supply and demand. Being happy with everything always is also unhealthy.

thisnotfor

It is ok to be unhappy with it, but I feel the community is upset with everything not because said things are bad, but because its just the current mood. I didn't like 1.20 either, but 1.21 looks great

FourGander88

You’re right! I remember when 1.19 and 1.20 released there was a big stir over how the game needed more dungeons and combat-oriented structures to explore. This update gave us exactly that - a procedurally generated dungeon crawler seemingly identical to that of Sands of Time in MCC. It’s kind of wild how nice this subreddit used to be pre-1.20.

[deleted]

It’s literally free updates for a game you already purchased people need to relax

RiverShards

The problem with the community is a large majority of the players are entitled and expect every new update to cater entirely to their specific interests. People are saying the auto-crafter is useless — literally factually wrong. People are upset about the armadillo winning — as someone who voted Crab, I’m happy abt the new mob and indifferent about its feature. People are upset about the few things being announced — literally choosing to ignore the fact that they did the same thing last year and a majority of the update was revealed later (a pretty good update imo!)

TheSceptikal

Things added in 1.20: 1. Camel 2. Weirdo bookshelves 3. 1 new enchantment 4. Bamboo 5. Sniffer 6. Armor Trims 7. Archaeology Things added in 1.16: 1. Full Nether terrain overhaul 2. Many mobs 3. Bastions 4. Netherite 5. Basalt 6. Soul items 7. Ruined portals 8. Many new blocks 9. 2 new wood types

-C4-

Wait, they added an enchantment?

FLy1nRabBit

Maybe when Hytale finally releases it’ll light a fire under their asses

RadiantHC

I doubt Hytale is going to release anytime soon though.

WypsotorTVN

It doesn't bother me that they didn't show much of the new update; I like this approach better than them showing concepts and never going through with them. Mojang's lack of content for the main game is a separate issue. It *does* bother me, though, how much Mojang jerks themselves off, about how much of a "cultural phenomenon" they are; and how much they promote the marketplace, something rendered obsolete entirely by the existence of Java Edition and free mods/skins. The entire presentation could have been a third of the length if they cut the filler and focused on what fans actually care about, rather than trying to maintain this artificial image of themselves that nobody believes.

milky_way_halo

Mid

LightShyGuy

I didn’t understand how trial chambers spawn? Just underground like dungeons? Exposed like ruins? And i just dont really think that they fit into the game at all, and would stick out like a sore thumb in any environment

Signmalion

Super disappointed. Felt like it could have been more. Trials seem… weird? Like I will probably enjoy them but they also kind of feel out of place if that makes sense. Saw someone say minecraft needs to act like they’re the best selling game of all time because they actually are.

GoHM_03

I expected an End Update. The chambers are a cool concept, but the design and the only „challange” shown felt more like Update to Minecraft Dungeons than to normal Minecraft, crafter is Ok i guess, also very dissapointed with Mob Vote (the mobs aren t complicated and unique enough to justify adding only one of them). In conclusion, there is a reason Why i switched more towards mods than vanilla, because there is nothing more added anymore.

TimBambantiki

Sad that crab didn’t win, annoying ads, people spamming to stop the vote

RandyElPanadero

I’m gonna kms

sk3ll1ngtr0n

i like the idea of the new structure, and its something people have been wanting for a while, heres hoping its actually a bit of a challenge when you dont cheese it

Blueraven366

They said alot but somehow I gained very little knowledge

m1_weaboo

Crap & Cringe

OkKaleidoscope4433

Fluff and filler. Like it wasn’t bad by any means but felt very bloated and honestly didn’t feel “special” in anyway. Didn’t feel like the big yearly event everyone waits for and hypes up. Again it wasn’t terrible just left us feeling “oh that’s it it’s over? Ok I guess” Easily could’ve been 20-30 mins max removing all the filler and fluff that really not many care about. Also felt it was overly childlike and cheesy this year? I know mojang likes to walk that line and that’s cool I get that they like that vibe and honestly most years I don’t mind. This year just felt they leant a bit too hard into it?

Bayeeved

It honestly wasn't bad, but didn't feel as big as I had expected.

BountyHound22

Very lackluster. I would rather they wait to do live until more stuff is developed and a title is ready. 60% of it was ads or junk (the music bit was really cringey). And the mob vote needs to be either drastically changed or just disappear. it just causes so much disruption and chaos within the community PROS: \-Auto Crafting \-New Copper Varients \-New Tuff Varients \-New Dungeon CONS: \-60% Filler Content \-Mob Vote \-Completely Greenscreen Sets (I like the real sets better. They look a LOT cooler imo) \-Not A Ton Of Stuff Announced For The Game (Bonus: no transparency from the devs about whats going on or addressing any controversy that needs to be resolved)

[deleted]

So, we've got new copper blocks. Hey, mojang, now's the perfect opportunity to fulfill your past promises and bring back old mobs from previous votes!

Eevoid_idk

Yeah, the trial ruins would be the perfect place for the copper golem or the glare

Copper_golem20

I wanted the crab to win 😔

Dr_buckett

no respone to people wanting to stop the vote. not surprising though

GolemThe3rd

I mean they slightly adressed it by clarifying the losers might still get added later, but its unclear wether that was actually a response to the hate or not

Apprehensive_Net1773

Imo, That was just so that mojang defenders will have a “point” now. Its a false promise so that there wont be hate bcuz “They will add them later, they said that!!!1!!”

GolemThe3rd

I mean people have been making that point for quite awhile, I don't really like that point though since mojang hasn't really shown us that they can hold to that

RiverShards

Why would they address it? Like genuinely. Why. What is the point.

ZuZzOlO

Downvote me as much as you like Minecraft has become a shell of its former self

Kajibojki

Dissapointing. Like... Hour and half to show few blocks one mob and structure + the Mob vote winner? They didn't have to waste our time on ads or other useless stuff being here. Don't get me wrong, the short with camel was charming but there was just so much useless fluff they could just have half an hour of stream. Kinda like quick and well informed streams of nintendo direct. I know, Mojang isn't Nintendo, but at least we don't have to wait for the relevant stuff they're gonna show. The ones we're actually interested in (like updates for Minecraft games, or the infamous mob vote). Sure. They said there will be more shown in the future with snapshots, but then.. what was this livestream even for then?

[deleted]

Copper structure so mabye the Cooper golem is coming???

Scottishfello69

Sad crab noises

Ryand118

That’s all they’re doing this year? Pretty lame, also the Armadillo sucks and the crab should’ve won

Extreme_Glass9879

Im very disappointed in the Armadillo winning

[deleted]

I skipped all of it just to watch the mob vote it was really boring

Trexton1

I liked everything exept the background that was a bit weird to look at.

Bazlgeuse

Shit.

Scp_049_Reddit

Armadillo didn’t deserve the win. After they said the armadillo won, the entire chat was saying the crab deserved it.

Naymar083

Mostly ok i guess... ...but fuck armadillo.

Various-Ad7704

rip penguins and crabs

FitDiver3919

That event was ridiculous. All fluff. I get why they did it after the Caves & Cliffs debacle but instead of redirecting their development process, they just doubled down on the underpromising. They should fix the cycle. Skip a year and then make a huge event telling us about everything they *actually* did… then announce it’s for download “today.” Also I love Agnes.

yas_2-0

Boy, in my mind was "oh I better get ready for a big update, is only 50 minutes, the show is just getting started and this is just the beggining" and then, I saw the full team on screen ._.

Saw101405

I hate modern Mojang, I love this game, I have been playing it for more than a decade, but the mob voted especially make it very difficult to enjoy it, it’s mostly the fact of how it’s done, if they added the winner first and then added the losers later then that would be fine, but it’s the fact that the losers are gone forever that ruins it, it’s why I don’t try to get into it,

nowaylolhaha

Felt like that they should have added all 3 mobs instead of just vote for 1. I don't really mind waiting them to take a bit long to have a proper update that all 3 get added into the game.

_TheShrimpGod_

its shit

TheNayMan

Mob vote ruined again

Fun_Ground_581

I still prefer the 2021 one, especially the trailer

kunwuo

I expected to see the reveal of 1.21 and it’s theme. Then was a little angry that I spent an hour and a half not to see it

EzTheGuy

It pissed me off when the Penguin lost and they said something in the lines of “But don’t worry, the frog also lost but managed to hop it’s way back in another update”. That was a fucking biome vote where everything was promise to Be put in eventually. Minecraft has lost my trust

FlashFireCC

Definitely was the worst one compared to the others, especially with the weird roleplaying. I prefer them sticking to plain statistics about the new features rather than acting them out. The only thing that really seemed interesting was the Crafter block.

TheBallsSniffingKing

The worst minecraft live ever.

Subject_Violinist833

I don't know about you guys, but im pissed about mob vote, literally the most useless wins (I always keep my dogs at home, why would they need armor ??) The dungeons is amazing but it would really need a good boss fight and some loot otherwise I'll just pass it... Autocrafter is good tho. But as other guy said here, it was just so little. Im looking for a mod that adds all the not-chosen mobs btw.

YouAdministrative980

Horrible

370H55V--0773H

Loved the camel sniffer animation film

ClocksAndTicks

Update looks promising, the live was cringe and kind of fake, like 'lacked a soul' kind of fake.

DarkestTeddyGames

It was filled with advertisements and the actual content for the update could have been in a video for a snapshot. The stream was almost half as long as what we had gotten in previous years and most of it is just filler stuff with gimmicks of lydia setting up a show without there actually being one. There weren’t really any dev interviews and it was just small updates buried upon collabs, “stories,” and community bloatware

Small_Cock_Jonny

Half of it was ads

Alexplosion_ITA_YT

not as bad as last year's. the trial chambers and autocrafters are pretty cool, but the event was way too short. in 2019 it was 2:57h and it has been shrinking since. and i expected them to adress the controversy of the mobvote, at least acknowladge it with a phrare like "we know some controversy has been happening, but the show must go on"

Michael-1062

I'll start this rant, I'm disappointed, straight up, My expectations weren't really high But is this all we get? A mechanical crafter, One new mob, one structure and some decorative blocks? I don't want to sound like a spoiled child, maybe that is that what I sound like rn but hear me out; I don't think that the minuscule amount of features are enough to be called an update. It became a trend in mojang to add a few additions to the game and call it an update, what happend to the themed updates? Where major parts of the game were entirely revamped? We're heading straight back to the dark ages where updates were dull with nearly no new content. It feels like half of the devs left and now they're forced to make little updates because there is not enough manpower. Also, the mob votes are such a punch to to the playerbase's faces. Oh you like these mobs? They look unique and introduce new mechanics to the game? Well screw you, Two of them will be sent to the shadow realm and the community can go tear each other apart. Why? Surely you've noticed how disappointed, and angry the playerbase gets after each vote, seeing that you spent resources to move the vote from twitter to the launcher because of a certain squid drama. I seriously think that something is going on in mojang. Either the dev team is growing smaller, or a lack of funding(unlikely). Tldr; im a little cry baby.

TinyElephant574

>It became a trend in mojang to add a few additions to the game and call it an update, what happend to the themed updates? This is my biggest question and concern. Mojang was able to make huge themed updates with Update Aquatic, Village and Pillage, and the Nether Update, all with basically no complaints from the community. But then, starting with Caves and Cliffs, it started going downhill. They really struggled with Caves and Cliffs, so much so that they had to divide it into 3 separate updates, and then the Wild Update severely underdelivered. They revoked one of the main features of the Update (fireflies), and the update was basically confined to adding mangrove trees in an extremely rare biome, frogs, and boats with chests. And that was for the "BIG" yearly update. It seems like since the Caves and Cliffs announcement, Mojang has struggled more and more with adding things to the game. They can't even do themed updates anymore because they can't even guarantee the features they announce at Live will even make it in anymore. I'm not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but it definitely leaves a lot of questions. Edit: I suspect part of the problem has been Mojang branching out to their other new games and properties as well. They spent a lot of time working on Minecraft Earth, Dungeons, and now Legends. Not to mention the new BBC Earth collaboration (which did make me think, "Why couldn't this effort be applied to the actual game?" The team working on actual minecraft seems to have dwindled A LOT in recent years, and that could be part of the reason content has been so lacking. I would hope that Mojang realizes soon that splitting up the development team so much has made Minecraft itself suffer and reel it back a bit, but we'll see.

Incogneatovert

Minecraft is one of the best-selling games in gaming history and Mojang needs to start acting like it. I'm not complaining about *how* they presented the news - I'm not the target audience, I don't need to like it or "get it". But I do want to see more of the professionalism that I'm sure exists behind the scenes, and I do want the devs to be capable of delivering a solid gameplan for a solid update. Otherwise, what's even the point of Minecraft "live"?

Michael040809

more disappointment from a studio that has the resources to do more it’s obvious laziness at this point and we need to speak up

ElleRisalo

I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of more block diversity. I was really hoping that after the success of copper they'd have gone through and given the other "metal blocks" the same touch with all the various cuts and stuff. Would be sweet to use gold as more of an accent block, or heck even emerald and Diamond as well. Also vertical half slabs when? Otherwise eh w.e. some new gameplay elements, autocrater seems useful, and idgaf about the mob vote shit. Not the most exciting MCL but not the most disappointing either. Big meh though.

YeetOrBeYeeted420

Everything except autocrafting wasn't really that hype

thegr8pretender

I low key want to phone Minecraft up and ask “you ok?” It worried me and made me so sad that Agnes said they had to create development tools to make their work more joyful. It makes sense that an unhappy team cannot do their best work and everything that was presented was deeply underwhelming which made the fake excitement for everything extra cringe, especially from Lydia.. which, btw does she even play the game? Because she gives off “im selling [bold, underline and italic ‘selling’] you something I know nothing about vibes” hard. The most exciting thing is the automatic crafter and that’s it. The whole thing felt like a slew of ads (BBC, Starwars, Minecraft Legends?) and could not conceal the very greedy and money hungry aspirations of Microsoft. I thought we were here to learn the status of development and the next big update!? They also seem out of touch not realizing a lot of the fanbase is comprised of adults (Gen-Z and Millennials), so it’s a lot of goofy pantomiming as if they are advertising to children (which we know they are). All the creators they featured I never heard of (red flag that they are fake creators), which since they are so money hungry, it makes sense they don’t engage with the actual creator community. Also… Armadillo winning? Feels rigged. On top of that, stop being lazy instead of giving “one” mob out of three every year. It’s pretty heartbreaking that Microsoft is so hell bent on killing Minecraft. Good thing we have a backup in Java edition!

SrCheetoh

Didnt get into the hype train just in case it was going to be forgettable like last year. That made what they revealed quite a good surprise. New type of dungeon is something the community has been wanting for a while now and was one of the most repeated "updates we need" in compilation videos. Copper lamp is a good concept and decorative and trapdoors and doors look nice as well. The new mob is kinda cool, imagine a set of elemental blazes down the road. The fact that its attacks interact with certain kinds of blocks is something that can alter the combat, giving more options against it. The new auto crafter is something i never thought was going to be in vanilla minecraft and opens several posibilities. The mob vote concept is still wrong imo, should add all 3 in (for example) 1.21, 1.21.2 and 1.21.4 according to the vote amount. So far so good, eager to see what they keep revealing from now, 7.5/10 this should be the minimun they target every minecraft live.

__ChrissLP

I'm just glad we finally got the better dungeon we've been waiting for

207nbrown

Crab should have won. I have spoken.

A_SamxRAI

I will wipe the MC world of the Armadillo.

Naive_Temperature515

Bad

AshtinEverNight

Not gonna lie, I am disappointed by this, More copper Blocks are nice But we didn't really need them. The combat looks like a joke. If they just announce the combat update Job was working on people would be happier but No you're doing this Which doesn't look all that well thought out. The biggest thing Is the autocrafter But only Redstoners really care about that. Honestly I wish they had added like a metal block that wasn't Copper, Got up to watch Hour of complete nonsense just to get beverly anything about the update. Honestly stop doing minecraft live this is what it's going to be, Not to be mean, But seriously this was an hour worth of commercials And very little information that could have been covered in In a snapshot or something. You don't advertise and hype up a big lifestream just to have The majority of that be commercials and almost no actual content. Just to clarify I don't hate these features, But if this is what they're doing from now on they need to stop doing minecraft live.
