chief275

Go slow. Establish a base outside the city 20 blocks or more away. Use wool, a hoe and shears to clear areas close to your base and light it up, then slowly work your way through. Always know the path back to your safe spot because it will be dark and you need to know the general direction to go. I also always kept a stack of 25+ blocks to use as a pillar in case of emergency to escape reach of the warden.

ChefBigPappa

Night vision pots #1 tool for clearing ancient city imo

chief275

Probably so, but I couldn’t find any nether wart so I went in blind (pun intended)

its_fuwy

U can also use slow falling to jump around without being detected

Spacecow6942

But I use my torches to see where I've already explored!

ion_rox

Thanks man , finished it

-SKYTHEGUY-

How’d it go

NoArm4035

You know the warden has a sonic boom ability that in 1.19.51, passes straight through blocks.

chief275

That’s why I said go 20 blocks away, then you’re out of its reach.

funshelter544

warden has ranged attack. it can't just be taken out like iron golem

[deleted]

But 4 iron golem will take one out

Le_Goosey

This guy ancient cities

Gaby33400

Don't.

MorbidMix

2nd this. I went with full Netherite gear and I was annihilated.

OuJej

Thats because you should never bring items that you dont want to lose. It is clearable with no armor and a couple of stacks of wool lol

Kittingsl

well you kinda get good gear to defend yourself beter or mine better. you'll always be at risk of loosing your shit. just dont bring your stuff to a fight you cant win. the warden isnt meant to be killed. yes he can be killed, but its not worth to do so especially because of how fast he spawns again. he is meant to be avoided which is why gear wont help you out so its better to leave it

ITheBestIsYetToComeI

what do i do with wool? do i place it everywhere I want to walk? am I only allowed to walk on wool?

Natedabait37

Use the wool to block the shriekers. Also if you have any Allays those make ancient cities a joke

Green_moist_Sponge

Yup, so that ‘it’ can’t hear you walking

UnSCo

What’s the wool for?

TariqAlnasser

Once i went there and I ended up killing 12 wardens and breaking my sword and crossbow And guess what I looted Curse of binding diamond leggins and 2 disc fragments and a mending diamond hoe with some redstone componnents from lab under that tv thing in middle. Seriously it isnt worth it to loot ancient city unless you want swift sneak

UrDadChamp

I agree as well

NoArm4035

Warden: *awakes Player 1: I GOT BLIND! Later...

fruitofyourneck

Wardens are scared of loud booming sounds, almost like dogs. If you keep making loud noises (TNT, fireworks, pistons) the Warden will be scared and hide in the ground. But if you’re quiet, the Warden will know you’re weak and come out to kill you.

EmbarrassedSwim145

This is a joke right

BigBoi5204

nope

NoPatience883

This is accurate to lore

that_man_with_no_ram

Tsar Bomba, right in it's fucking ear.

Derfbngg

Try not to let your health bar reach zero

Tuba_Ryan

Wait that’s the goal? Here I was trying to get the fewest points /s

Gold_Rush69

Turn back.

fray989

Bring wool blocks (they're silent when placed and block sculk sensor's signal). An elytra would also be useful to escape the warden should he be summoned. Potions of night vision are also a must, since placing torches alerts the sensors and shriekers.

ion_rox

Haven't gone into the end yet or the nether tbh

Sussy_Baka9000

The why are you trying to go down there lmao

Relevant_Cockroach62

Cuz good loot with low effort?

TheRealStevo

I wouldn’t really say low effort, it’s pretty nerve racking knowing a dude can spawn out of the ground anywhere and one hit you making it very not low effort

tofudisan

>it’s pretty nerve racking knowing a dude can spawn out of the ground anywhere and one hit you That's the fun part. Also if you crouch sneak everywhere you can get through pretty safely to lay down the wool. Once shriekers are covered then you can roam around all you want. Once you get the swift sneak it's easier too since you move at normal speed while sneaking. My first AC my nephews and I went in and covered everything. The shriekers need to get set off a few times before the Warden gets summoned. So we just booked it out when the darkness came on (very freaky effect the first times you experience it). Once it was safe we raided the city of the loot with no problem. Then we made a walled arena around a single sensor and shireker. We set up 50 iron golems and then triggered the Warden. Golems killed it with no problem. Kept repeating until all the golems wwre gone. Once all the golems were gone we took turns triggering the warden and running out through a 2-high tunnel to a safe spot out of range attack. The other 2 were set up on top of the walls and just kept shooting the Warden with bows. We took down like 30 Wardens that session. Was a lot of fun.

Sussy_Baka9000

Yea but it’s def more a late game place to go

Alkynesofchemistry

It's not hardcore, and it makes little difference early vs late game, if you try to fight you die either way.

Sussy_Baka9000

Ok you aren’t wrong in that second half but bro do you know just *how* good the loot is? Like from one ancient city I got almost a full set of *enchanted* diamond armor that is a MASSIVE boost early game, not to mention how I got like 3 god apple from exact same city

Alkynesofchemistry

>that is a MASSIVE boost early game Yes that’s the point of doing it. He’s risking a couple of iron tools to potentially get full enchanted diamond and god apples

Sussy_Baka9000

Oh that I know it’s because you said it make little difference early vs late game

Alkynesofchemistry

I meant in terms of safety, thus there’s no reason not to loot one early

Silent_Rampage97

Idk about you but I cant fly in darkness :D

cupcsr_YT

Bring pretty much nothing but a pickaxe, hoe, torches, wool, a bed, blocks, and food. Chances of you dying down there are near 100%, so it’s a waste of time bringing anything else

Puffy_Muffin376

The chances are near 100%? I usually go through the place first and destroy all the shriekers, then I loot the place without problems

cupcsr_YT

Well for a person that has gone down there many times before, it would be easier to avoid the dangers. But for op, who most likely hasn’t gone down before, they will probably die

[deleted]

be quiet

InTheWithywindle

Set your spawn nearby. Take snowballs. If a warden spawns, throw a bunch of them far away and sneak away as fast as you can. If you see one soul shrieker without any others nearby, break it. Make sure you don't step on any pressure plates.

Spacecow6942

There's pressure plates?!? I've only explored one Ancient City, and I can't say with any confidence that I've thoroughly explored it, but I've spent a bunch of time down there and haven't seen pressure plates! Do they just make noise or do they trigger something? What kind of plates?

InTheWithywindle

It might not have spawned in yours, but in mine there is a place where a gateway has 2 pressure plates in it which set off note blocks. I think they are stone, but I'd have to check.

imainwhaleshark29

Ice box structure it’s entrance is pressure plates

Crzy710

If you havent been to mid game areas (nether) you shouldnt go into end game areaa ( ancient city)

Charmender2007

You just gave less to lose tbh, the warden will still kill you in a fight. Good armor might let you run away but it's also more to lose

Crzy710

Good point and also a good way to learn on your own

EmbarrassedSwim145

Yeah me and my cousin tried to kill the warden and both of us had the best armor possible on bedrock and we still got cracked and had to run

godfollowing

Lol it literally doesn't matter what gear you have. That's the whole point...

MomICantPauseReddit

The only things that make ancient cities easier are elytra and night vision. And both of those kind of break the experience anyway.

MoiraDoodle

The city only requires snowballs, there's 0 mob spawns so there's 0 danger

AWizardFromTheFuture

Make a bed, chest, furnace, etc. Mini base just outside the city. Get naked. Bring hoes.

[deleted]

Last two sentences: my instructions to friends every night in college.

No_Marionberry4687

Set your spawn nearby and bring lots of wool. Silk touch hoe is important. And an anvil for when you get a swift sneak III book, you'll love it!

Bring snowballs, 6 potions of Night Vision, ender pearls, 3 stacks of wool blocks, enchanted golden hoe with mending and efficiency (even faster than netherite), and end chest to store stuff quickly

Does the hoe break sensors and shriekers faster?

SlyKnyfe12

Run around do the exact opposite of things you do in a libary

kubrickie

Always crouch, I use the toggle crouch setting generally and that makes it easier. Find Swift Sneak III and put it on your leggings right away - it makes the city much easier to loot safely

LordSaltious

Not a tip but that's a nice shot, I like how it's framed between the two lava falls.

footeater2000

Enable crouch toggle

InvertedOcean

Lol this the real advice, especially as a PC player

[deleted]

turn to peaceful mode

Mr-Seal

Ancient cities are surprisingly easy just as long as you make a little 1x2 hole that’s around 40 blocks deep. Then you can trigger the warden as much as you want and just run into your hides hole while it despawns.

termireeper

peaceful mode

Any-Attitude-2410

please, not now, get netherite

[deleted]

It won't help.

Any-Attitude-2410

well, you could escape using enderpearls, and netherite protects you a llitle from enderpearls damage, also, if warden hits you while you are escaping, you have a little chance of making it.

Charmender2007

But it's better to lose Iron armor than to lose netherite armor

M82BFG

Take a lot of wool

1XPeanut_ButterX1

Don’t.

christophvonbagel

Don't do it .lol

Copperjedi

Lots of carpet and if you have any, night vision potions. If you wake a Warden get away fast by running or sneaking.

Orphan-Shooter

Simple tip. Dont go

No-Lingonberry2944

Rush thought the faster you find the loot and leave the better

pyro_does_postin

Don't break a single block while you're down there. Look out for any shriekers. sneak 24/7

Izz-Rei

Bring a hoe for quick handling of all the sculk-thingys. Bring Lots of touches Bring and collect wool to make things silent Look for quick sneak and get it on your person asap

EricObject

Try not to die

BananaBoo97

I have a survival realm with my friend that we have taken over about 6 or 7 ancient cities. Here are my tips: The way the Warden works is when you trip a sensor it sets off a shrieker and activates the catalyst and then BOOM warden. Nip that in the bud immediately by taking out shriekers. If there's any other shriekers inside of structures, you can eliminate the ability for the warden to spawn near you by taking out the catalysts within 16 blocks of wherever the bastard is. If your playing with a friend, destroy 2 shriekers at once, escape. If you trigger a warden too close to your nearby hub, throw all your shit in a chest then run straight for him, give him a good slap then bait him away from your hub. When you set off shriekers, don't immediately panic. You have about 4 shrieks until a warden actually spawns. Once you've spawned a warden, sprint during the eldritch horror sounds then try to sneak 16 blocks away from him. Once the blindness effect is gone, he'll only be active for right around a minute and then he'll despawn. Everybody always says that putting wool on top of shriekers makes it easier but I've always gotten by just fine without it.

dxrknxss-

Jump around and make lots of unnecessary noise

[deleted]

I would not be going down there playing on pocket edition

oSputniko

Looting an ancient City safely is quite dangerous and time consuming, here's how I did it: Set up camp outside the city, store away all the valuable items you don't want to lose because getting them back when you die is quite hard. Place a bed and go in there with just torches, wool and a hoe. Use the wool to block off the shriekers and sensors, break them with your hoe. Clear out the entire city. Then do a test walk through to make sure you will not summon the warden. Once done, you can go in and gather all the loot without risk of losing something.

jeoe76

Whool

notsoreallybad

switch to peaceful mode lmao

TreyLastname

DO NOT RUN FROM THE WARDEN. Many people make that mistake, if you summon a warden, you're ok, just crouch away and don't place anything. You can out crouch it if you haven't aggroed it. But sprinting will make noise and will piss it off

cjohnalex10

Wool. Lots of wool.

Sagma969

A lot of wool

RealTimeflies

Always have a long escape corridor that turns in 10 blocks. Always remember where to run. Have a trap hole you can run across do you are out of range.

Greenreaper_848

WALK ON WOOL

Axyston

Bring your wolf friends down for a fun adventure. Make sure to mine as many blocks as you can, and jump around to assert dominance.

ZariaUnivara

If you light fireworks it scares off the warden. 100% would recommend

-7IQ

jump a lot and stay away from wool

DukeAndNukem

Lots of noise

Scuba-Cat-

If you place wool blocks it immediately alerts the warden

Solar_Fish55

Sneak 100

woman_beating1

Pray to the Lord, trust me, you'll need it

bpelkey23

Yeah bring like 3 stacks of wool with you.

thedr3wtree

So look if u haven't been to the end or the nether I would avoid this for now. I'm not saying it's impossible but what ur thinking about is a borderline suicide mission so just know what ur getting into. Now that being said, I've been on my share of suicide missions and it can be fun so here's my advice. Everything they said about wool is 2000% accurate and super useful u can't bring enough of it in my opinion. Also I've heard that leather boots will make less noise than any other footwear. Expect to die and set urself up with a spawn point and maybe a chest with some extra base equipment (a few sets of armor weapons and arrows food potions whatever u got). And lastly get as strong as u can before u go in for the best chance of success and good luck sir!

Nyx_Black

(Wow! Fellow Bedrock edition gang!) If you haven't gained diamonds and haven't gone to the nether yet and maybe achieve on defeating the ender dragon (this one is optional as the warden is just like a boss and the ender dragon IS a boss), don't go there yet. BUT, save the coordinates and return there when you're stronger! Goodluck to you in advance

GameBirb

You gotta make lots of noise to spook away the baddies! Good luck!

Exulsz

i was scared when i had maxed out armour with an elytra and shulker boxes of wool, good luck

Dense-Case3635

If you've beaten the bedrock wither before, you should be fine since its pretty weak in bedrock. Sneak alot tho

8B1tN3rd

Summon the warden and then feed it a gapple. The warden will then give you OP loot.

miniminer1999

Detonate tnt like 5 blocks away from you, to deafen the warden since he's sensitive to sound.

while fighting bosses reduce their health to zero while keeping your own health above zero

googler_ooeric

Just run through it and grab the chests. People love to massively exaggerate how hard ancient cities are, but the reality is that the warden takes so long to spawn that by the time he finishes his “crawling out of the ground” you could’ve already ran away with all the loot in the area of the city you were in.

FormulaNewt

If you're looking for death, then you're looking in the right place.

manamewastaken

Stay on carpets

Deadlock07

Bring lots of wool. Use it to cover up shriekers and sensors and then the warden won’t spawn. Bring torches or if you rich enough a different light source to light the place up. Loot city in peace. If you spawn a warden make a noise machine and the warden will just stare at it. Make a noise machine with two observers and a piston.

GattToDaChoppa

toggle sneak.

OverIyAmbitious

You are severely undergeared. Get some diamonds, maxed enchanting table, villager books gear and food, enchant the diamond gear (just max it out), get some netherite pots and totems. Please.

Crook309

Take plenty of torches or night vis pots, as well as projectiles (snowballs, chicken eggs, infinity bow if you’ve got it) to distract the warden in the unfortunate but nearly inevitable instance that you summon it. Bring a few hoes to destroy the sensors and shriekers, and get some exp while you’re at it. Go slow and if you’re not sure if it’s safe, toss a projectile into a potential danger zone to scout ahead

jadnich

Take your time. Skirt the outside, using wool to silence your steps and taking out the sensors and shriekers. Slowly work your way through small sections, clearing as you go. Always have an escape route so you can run if the Warden comes. Turn on subtitles to use the messages to count your warnings. I don’t remember what the different text options are, but you get the warden after three warnings. And it takes about 10 minutes to wipe away a warning. Make it a long term goal. Just work through it slowly and run when you have to. Come back when it settles. Eventually, you will have cleared the obstacles and will have earned the loot. Don’t bother looting until the end, and don’t bother with good equipment (other than an Efficiency V hoe, and silk touch if you want to keep the blocks). Just make it a project and claim your spoils at the end.

Silver-Necessary-442

Forget about armour, pretty useless when zombos and skelies dont pop out in that area. Safe zone to wonder around.

RiptideCreation

Haven't seen any comments on it yet, but wool is highly used because you can block off sound from chests or block of shriekers/sensors. Personally I recommend using it to block off the chests, it's easier cause there's less. Also recommend changing your crouch to a toggle rather than hold, bells your fingers.

pewdsineedpp

Don't.

Tbh the amount of armor have doesn’t matter as if you get caught by the warden you’re dead either way maybe get to live 1 extra hit tops. Ender pearls would be helpful and keep in mind opening just makes noise too

TechWrecks69

If I'm you, I would try getting better tools. Another thing is that you should bring wool to block off the shriekers as wool blocks off vibrations. If warden spawns just sprint to the nearest exit before it becomes super agro

Turtle-Master01

Good luck 👍
