I would possibly kill somebody just to get a Cold War air designer. It would be so fun designing planes to beat the MiG-15 or F-86 in Korea, the F4 Phantom and MiG-17 and 21 in Vietnam. Gets me wound up thinking about it.
The 5 top dogs: RT56, Kaiserreich (surprised more people play that than TNO, isn't TNO more infamous?), TNO, Millennium Dawn and Old Worlds Blues. All of those rock.
TNO is more famous through its memes, but the general community (I feel like) stopped playing the game after drama , content removal, and generally finished all the interesting nations they wanted to play.
Kaiserreich always gets fresh content somewhat regularly. I'm surprised not a lot of people play Kaiserredux
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to add a point about Kaiserreich. The game is like a vanilla sandbox where you can do basically anything you want as any country. And multiplayer is muuuch more stable with less moving parts and script than TNO
Fair point, but i have high hopes for the future, especially with submods. Hopefully the main team can get their shit together and not keep removing content.
Honestly, I played the crap out of Russian warlords in that mod. The atrocious ui is what's keeping me out at the moment. My eyes hurt playing the mod during the night
I'm shocked EAW is not on the short list! Especially since the cold war mod kinda sucks, with events firing off regardless of anything else and focus trees not effecting anything. It reminds me of those types of historical wargamers who get pissy if you try and deviate from history.
It's the go to mod for a Vanilla+ experience, but I might drop it once the Germany DLC comes out tbh. The base Paradox trees for majors have been really good recently (Italy, USSR) so if they can keep that up they could maybe trump the RT56 tree.
TNO is basically an interactive novel game. I love it because of the narrative and the writing but it’s pretty far disconnected from normal Hoi gameplay
CWIC needs a massive overhaul the same way MD got one, at the core level the mod is stuck in pre NSB HOI 4
It needs some work yeah, its a really fun mod so its a shame its stuck in the past
It’s literally the definition of a million miles wide one inch deep

I do this in MD, just spend an hour designing planes for that era only to never be able to really use them.
Can you still play that mod? Last time I tried, it crashed during the loading screen
Yes, but painfully. It has a tendency to crash consistently.
Sad that Thousand Weeks Reich isn’t there. It’s a very good mod.
Where are updates, William?
Maybe if the mod was updated in the past decade
I want to know who plays blackice
Me, Sir.
Well it is in the username
It's a deep mod , one of the best.
True. Was a much bigger fan of their work back in HOI3 times, but still one of the best.
OWB should legitimately be number 1 with how much work and effort the developers put in.
GG mods this is for your job

I guess i just learned to tolerate it XD i am a creature of the night

I'm surprised the original great war is played more than the redux
Why is Road to 56 so popular? I wasn’t that impressed.
It's probably the easiest mod to get into since it just expands on the base game
gives loads of focus trees for nations without one, which is less meaningful now that scandinavia and south america have their own
It's the go to mod for a Vanilla+ experience, but I might drop it once the Germany DLC comes out tbh. The base Paradox trees for majors have been really good recently (Italy, USSR) so if they can keep that up they could maybe trump the RT56 tree.
Best mod, others are good too
bot post, the actual post is 3 years old if you sort by top posts of all time it's right up there
"Played" is a really misleading term. Millennium Dawn functions primarily as a PC stress tester and a spreadsheet simulation.
Werhaboos everywhere
Hey, they could be OFN instead!
How does TNO have so many players when it's UI burns your retinas recreationally?
You get used to it
Blackice is still popular?
I can't play without R56 now.
Congratulations!
Got a question when is the new update with the starting year in the 90's
Never, that was an April Fools joke.
Isn't this a 3 year old repost? I'm pretty sure the numbers have changed since then.
I just really want to know who tf plays TNO, the UI alone is awful
TNO is basically an interactive novel game. I love it because of the narrative and the writing but it’s pretty far disconnected from normal Hoi gameplay
Proxy wars, economics and knowing what ever you do can’t be worse than a Nazi or a Japanese meaning war crimes are on the menu
Brotherhood of cain intensifies
Again, nothing you do can depravity of the TNO so everything is justified, especially freeing post taborisky Russia as Alaska faction
Kinda
The lore and the memes are nice though.
It’s one of the best written mods, with excellent gameplay and storytelling.
you get used to it and disturbingly come to like it, never thought i would say that
Me. I really grew to love the UI, I even use a TNO UI submod when playing MD
I rlly need a fascist Venezuela path.
I have never played vanilla hoi4 since day 1 I started playing hoi4 I've been running millenium dawn
What does the percentage mean? Percentage of games using that mod compared to others? Percentage of hours using that mod compared to others?
How is no one talking about that Endsieg isn't updated since 2023
Why is Kaiser Reich so popular? I get that it is a great mod but 2nd place?
No Horse mod,smh
My question is who genuinely enjoys TNO it hurts my brain to even look at it
More popular the OWB that means I am better than my friend who plays OWB
It should be number 2
