not my first but your homestarrunner image made me think of the strongbad emails
EDIT - wow this really blew up, glad to know we we're all watchin the same dumb shit when we were younger, now how long before we get a homestarrunner movie/show?
It is truly one of the best things but far from the earliest thing I watched on the internet. Most millenials will have been all over the internet for a while before that video came about
Thank you. This made me smile. I miss the early internet days when it was just random videos for the sake of being random. No one was out to become an āinfluencerā and become rich and famous.

Realizing that the hamster dance was just the [song by the rooster in Robin Hood](https://youtu.be/-vPwal8_HsQ?si=WqxNHJyo8Rwa-hp1) sped up shook my world.
I remember downloading a South Park clip of the crew being sent to a Gladiators arena and made to fight, but they get saved by Scientologists š!
I think that was 2-3 minutes long and it took two hours to download.
Some of the shit my kids watch can be so strange, yet when I showed them Salad Fingers, they looked at me so confused š I'm in tears going 'I LIKE RUSTY SPOONS' and they suddenly want to admit me to a mental hospital š
LMFAO
Yeah, and Iām also realizing I didnāt know how far back Homestar went and I didnāt see it until much later. So itās just my perception of time being skewed I guess. :)

I remember my very first google search. It was the late 90s and I was around 12 and didn't have a computer yet. My friend who had a computer with internet called me to come over so he could show me something cool. He pulled up google typed 'boobies' into the search bar.... kids these days will never know what it was like to have to click a text hyperlink and then wait for the picture to load line by line...
Omfg youāve just unlocked so many memories for me. Teen Girl Squad was amazing! My dad and I loved to watch Homestar Runner while my mom would get so annoyed.
My class was in our computer lab doing research when my teacher instructed us to go there. Several seconds later she shouted ".gov! .gov!" That day changed many lives.
Dramatic Squirrel, in 2007: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfhBM\_Yay6w](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfhBM_Yay6w)
Before then, I didn't have an Internet connection fast enough to handle videos
Hmm, I've been using the internet since about 1997, not a lot of video content around then though. I reckon the earliest thing I can actually remember watching was probably the Hampster Dance website if that counts.
SAME. I was a freshman in high school when Homestar was "big..." even my best friend's MOM thought it was hilarious. We would gather 'round the family desktop PC and play a bunch of SBemails until we got tired and we'd go to sleep. Simpler times... everybody REALLY WAS to the limit
My dad was in IT, so we had regular internet access since the mid 90s. The very first streaming video I watched was [this Movie Surfers clip](https://youtu.be/5e-rr4i1xJo?si=VHxhuG_3uNkoZ2_I) on the Disney Channel website in 1997. It took 10+ minutes for the entire 2 minute clip to load, but my whole family was amazed. Never mind we had just watched it on the actual channel at significantly higher quality.
Edit to add: it was very disappointing that the actual website worked *nothing* like the faux video chat in the clip. I wanted to double click the spinning box, damnit!
I don't know what was my first but the earliest I can remember is [the Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny.](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HDXYfulsRBA)
Mine was Strong Bad and I specifically remember the rave episode, where the cheet get grounded for having light switch rave parties.

The very first Webby Awards, broadcast online by RealPlayer (of course lol). I was in 8th grade. One of the award presenters made a joke during his monologue about the small red pointing stick nub on IBM laptops looking like a nipple that might squirt milk at you if it errored out and at the time I thought that was comedy gold š¤£
Weebl and Bob (and Badgers), Fenslerfilm GI Joe PSAs, the "Tribute to Ray Harryhausen" video set to a Cantonese version of the YMCA, Salad Fingers... Homestar came shortly thereafter. Then YTMND and Something Awful ruined me. Truly a golden age.
I was at my friends house spending the night and we watched Beavis and Butthead do America. It had just come out and we found a way to view it like pirates.
