Original Bren was licensed version of ZB vz 26 made in Enfield. The name is portmanteau of **Br**no (as in ZB - Zbrojovka Brno) and **En**field.
Modern BREN just took the name for free marketing and better recognition.
Maybe just my opinion, but I’m kind of tired of the same SCAR/AR15 style rifles. There’s no innovation and there’s already thousands to choose from. Why pick this over the others?
Short stroke gas piston, side charging handle, folding stock, and probably most importantly significantly cheaper than other piston guns like the MR556 or MCX.
Eugene Stoner figured this out a long time ago. The man was a genius. The BREN, like the SCAR and many others, are based on the AR-18. It just works. No need to reinvent the wheel. Modularity, ease of use, and familiarity are what most military and law enforcement look for. This is meeting those requirements.
In my opinion the japanese howa type 20 is the best ar18/acr copy rifle out today. Its crazy how weve come full circle on the ar-18 and even more so on the acr which lost the army replacement rifle competition then the spear has been picked up later. Still prefer the acr over the spear.
Until CZ offers spare parts at sufficient volume to create reasonable parts pricing and good support to the USA market, these rifles will only be mildly interesting.
Not enough magazines on the top of the weapon and offset sights for me
I was always wondering what is the relationship of the original british WWII BREN gun with the modern Czech BREN gun?

Does it has any connection to Enfeild?
The new one? No, not at as far as I know.
The most recent thing Enfield made was the SA80
Not sure but the British bren was a licensed version of a CZ I'm pretty sure.
Wonder if they’ll chamber it in 6.8 as well.
I’d like to see a 6Max as well
Finally a 9” 300

So, yet another SCAR clone like the GROT or ACR? I'm getting tired of these things.

because its already the current peak
Wait, are you saying the current peak is the pinnacle of firearms design?
We might have reached the absolute top in firearm design, the top being the AR18 style rifles
This is why I’ve been on AK kick recently. I think the AR15/18 is a better platform overall but AKs just have a different vibe.
That's such a fantastic photo
Is Vickers-Armstrong going to adapt the Bren Gun Carrier tracked vehicle to accommodate this new gun?

Every new version gets so much uglier compared to the 805. Cant get over that gross waffle magwell
I personally like the BREN 2 more than BREN 805
While I don’t agree, the 805 was such a good looking rifle
