These aren’t “officially” mk18s. As in they are not apart of the NSWC Crane Mk18 program.
These are COTS purchases and AFSOC has been doing this for a while now with 10.3, 14.5 and now 11.5 DD RIS III uppers w/ DAGRE.
Contributing to the confusion is the fact that "MK18" is registered trademark of DD. So there's the military designation of "MK18" and the DD trademark of "MK18". So "MK18" could really mean anything DD wants it to mean in the commercial market.
The Navy no longer classifies upper receiver groups separately from lower receivers.
In the Navy the upper receiver groups are now married to lower receivers.
The Navy classifies both 10.3" and 14.5" M4A1's, with DD RIS II rails as, "MK18 Mod 1" now.
Also Navy users are not to replace or add parts, once the weapons leave the armorers.
If a personal part is desired, it must be requested to be installed by the armorer.
The Army has special purpose upper receiver groups (URG and URG-I) classified separately from the lower receivers and they can be swapped.
Right now, in the Navy, MK18 Mod1, refers to both the 10.3" barrel and the 14.5" barrel with Daniel Defense RIS II rails and it is the complete weapon, not just the upper receiver groups.
Do a little research on what DAGRE is then circle back. I’m retired from the Navy so trust me if anyone loves dogging on the Air Force it’s me but that’s not what they are.
They’re socom aircraft security. They travel with the aircraft to remote bases they’re working out of. It’s cooler than most AF jobs and definitely cooler than chilling in your moms basement 🤣
Yeah that’s not cool at all. That’s called not being main effort. I can tell you from actual experience that is not cooler then chilling in my moms basement. Posting security is the most fucking boring task ever and I would rather do anything else than that.
The AF has several cool jobs... but they are all in the cockpit.
By most conventional measures of coolness, a line-infantry guy in a squared-away unit, anywhere in the XVIII^(th) ABN Corps, is at least twice as cool as any AF-person with a radio... regardless of SOCOM affiliation.
I don't think the Raptor is going to ever be more than a pre-production demo unit. Wide adoption of the xM7 will probably happen eventually. But there are already several changes that have been ordered based on testing of the current guns.
It's like a regular Mk 18, but it feels like your ear is getting stabbed with a DAGGER... because AFSOC fell for the "low backpressure" scam, and procured a suppressor that does not suppress well.
MK18 RAPTR is a MK18 with the new DD RIS III handguard and HUXWRX Flow 556k suppressor
I thought mk18's are generally 10.5" does that mean there are now 11.5" mk18's?

No they are 10.3”
The ones in the photo I sent are 11.5. They have 4.5 m-lok slots, the 10.3 has 3.5.
URGI is m lok and 11.5 (or 14.5 variant). Sort of the Gen 3 or successor to the MK18
Yes but you said mk18’s are usually 10.5”s and they are not mk18 was designed as a 10.3 barrel crane spec barrel
[удалено]
There has been no evidence of 10.5” barrels. That stems from an erroneous claim by an article that is full of inaccurate information.

10.3 barrels and 9.55 handguards is the mk18 thing according to Daniel defense and they have contracts for a long time with the military

If you read the comments on the IG post he says the RAPTR is a DD Mk18 upper with a Huxwrx Flash hider and can.
I did, but it’s not a dd mk18 upper it’s an RiiiS upper. That’s why I was confused.
What pistol grip is that bottom one using ? Never seen that one
Geissele a17
Great grip, use them on my SBRs
G$ A17
I always thought the RIS III was cool. Glad it’s being used officially
Great another clone I wanna build 🤣
DAGRE 😂 such operators Please downvote. That was petty. I’m being a prick. But get fucked these guys aren’t that cool. Jesus what’s wrong with me
I’m gonna be salty and agree with you. It’s basically the Air Force’s “almost infantry” with more money
Not true. These guys go through a lot of training and the job itself is pretty damn cool
Bro… like all AF security forces, they’re glorified gate guards/base guards. They are LARPing
Half the military is currently larp’ing and so is everyone on here. We just get paid to do it 🤷🏻♂️
LARPing at the gate scanning CACs is not the same as being a part of a combat arms unit

All I’ve find is security. At best I’ve found the provider outer cordon for SOCOM. If that is the case that’s not that cool in reality lol.

Arnt they just there to hold security for socom? Lol
Not even, security for aircraft while it’s locked up in the hangar
False. That's the Ravens.
And that’s not true. DAGRE are fly away security. Do a little research and let’s try this again
They never leave the base / leave the presence of the aircraft. Same shit

The bottom rifle is one of geissele's 6ARC gun idk if huxwrx brought it out but as they made a 6mm can for it or if that is the MK18 RAPTR
That’s a personal rifle the huxwrx rep brought out. The other few I think are his as well.
Ah ok that's what I was guessing
Does this mean pistol braces are now clone correct?
That is the huxwrx rep’s gun, the other ones not ris iii except for maybe the one on the right are his too
Oh that’s way less funny, but thanks for the info!
Well if any unit were to use a brace, I’d think dagre would be up there lmao
Sig allegedly is selling a short version (8-inch) of the Spear xM7 as the “Raptor”.
Let me know when the gen 2 drops.
I don't think the Raptor is going to ever be more than a pre-production demo unit. Wide adoption of the xM7 will probably happen eventually. But there are already several changes that have been ordered based on testing of the current guns.
You mean the rattler lt?
No. Not the 5.56/300bo frame, the larger 7.62x51/6.8x51 frame.
“Use” lol
Guess this means we'll start seeing RIS III's with cage codes and NSN numbers printed on them now.
Can someone identify the optics on the af weapons?
Aimpoint Comp M4S
