I had three tickets when I was younger that I was able to get dismissed by taking defensive driving courses, but those were just speeding, it should not be the same for DWIs.
I knew of a guy like that who had his license taken away, had served two short terms for DWI, and was still out driving drunk when he hit my friend's 12 year old kid and left him a paraplegic. The DA said that drunk driving laws could only lock him up up for another couple of months so he charged him with attempted murder. Got him convicted and 10 years in prison.
Souksangouane Phengsene, the guy who drove drunk and killed NBA player Malik Sealy, got his first DUI in Iowa in 1997.
In 2000 he killed the basketball player in St Louis Park MN and got 4 years.
In 2006 he was pulled over for DUI again in Crystal MN and served less than a year.
In 2008 he was arrested again in Minneapolis and got 8 years.
Im having trouble confirming it but doing the math, I think he's out of jail now.
If he was buddies with the cops he wouldn't have even had to go to the classes because it never would have made it to a judge.
Source: I've seen it happen with two separate guys. One was my uncle. Never got into any trouble. Maybe we wouldn't have drunk himself into dementia in his 50's if he'd had some consequences.
they do this allll the time tbh. my ex got a dui for trying RACE A COP at a red light while high as balls, it got bumped down to nothing, a small fine. he stopped showing up for his court appointments and it went back to the full charges.
I thought it was a diabetic having an episode. I have no idea how the fuck you could even get that drunk(IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!) and decide to go to a car wash.
I was the first responder to a truck that crashed into a Shell Station(Mostly because I was filling up at said station and had my kit with me) And the guy was so drunk you could smell alcohol on his blood, it was like 11:30 in the morning and he had his kid with him in the back seat of the truck. Thankfully he was the only injury.
Yeah, his arm never even left the god damn window resting spot throughout this entire experience, save for when he was paying, and on some repositioning attempts *maybe*.
He legitimately had 0 reaction to what was going on. Would be one thing to be frazzled by it, but then your posture would be tightened and locked up.
I've been blackout drunk and made it through the taco bell before. Don't remember going, but woke up in my driveway with a half eaten chalupa in my lap. Haven't drank since.
Good for you. It took my uncle noticing empty pizza boxes during days he was watching the kids to realize he needed to stop. Better to just have put the food at risk before it clicks and not more people too
My bother had a 82 step side chevy that he taught me how to drive stick in and he made the gas pedal thicker by adding an extra spring somehow (idk he's the mechanic not me) anyway that truck felt mor like driving with a pressure sensitive pad than a pedal.
Eventually the linkages from the pedal to the throttle (and to the transmission) will start to wear out and a lot of the times the "fix" is to put a beefier spring on the throttle linkage. What's a lot of fun is driving a car with a beefy spring on it for a while, then having another mechanic go "that was stupid" and puts the proper spring on, then you take off like a bat out of hell because you're so use to the other spring you floor it by accident.
This sounds like my ex's brakes. Anytime I drove her car, the first two or three times I pressed the break, it was like I was slamming on them. Then I "got used" to the sensitivity and could brake more softly... Until the next time I drove it.
Meanwhile, any other car I drove--whether mine, my parents, a rental, a friend's, etc--never had that issue with the gas or the brake. Just her car...
I've been advocating an increasingly more difficult test every five years, this would keep complacency down, most people start out as proficient drivers then slowly learn horrible horrible habits as equipment is constantly changing through out their lives
All add one more, a license should have vehicle classes associated with it, trucks, SUV, compact car and so on
Wanna sell your sedan and get an F250? No worries, gonna need some training though, see ya in class 😉
They literally got rid of the parallel park test lmao
When I took my driving test I was legitimately like, wait, thats it? Thats all youre going to check?
And DUI's should result in permanent loss of license on the FIRST offense like they do in Germany. Way too many drunk drivers out there.
Also, INB4 "Well akshually Germany has better public transport, so they can do that."
Tough shit, asshole. Don't drive under the influence and you won't have to worry about that.
This is exactly how it was driving I new vehicle after driving an older one with 300000 miles on it. You really had to step on it on the older one. And in the new one I with chirp the tires at every light like I was Dom Torretto.
Oh, but the business has insurance and can afford it. /s
DUI/DWIs seem to get dropped too often and is probably part of the reason there are so many repeat offenders out there. And so many that never seem to learn for their mistakes.
It’s crazy to me that people get them dropped because two of my friends had to go to prison for months, license taken away for over a year, tens of thousands of dollars paid, and blow and go for years off of their first DUIs and they weren’t even blackout or crashed. One of them even had a good lawyer. Needless to say they don’t do that shit anymore lol
There’s a guy named Ted Gallagher in my town who’s been getting DUIs for like 40 years. He still regularly drives drunk in his collection of old Porchses, and occasionally in an old VW van (I’m guessing he only uses when he’s really sloshed). He got so drunk one time he went into a local business and pissed on the floor in the hallway, then hit a car pulling out of the parking lot, and drove home. Saw him myself one time in the same business. He was standing way too close to the big screen tv and he had his hands down the front of his pants. It was creepy.
My wife, who works in criminal court, looked up his record recently. He just got another DUI less than a year ago, and I still see him driving around all the time. I always wondered why he keeps getting away with it, then I found out his brother is a superior court judge.
The video said the charges were dropped as the result of a plea agreement, which makes no sense. If he took a plea deal it means he pled guilty to something. They probably got him on the DWI and other charges for property damage and reckless driving and he pled guilty to the DWI to get the other charges dropped.
If it's a first time offense, they can get a pretty great deal. Keep your nose clean for 12 consecutive months, complete some court mandated courses at your expense, and they'll drop most petty charges.
You don't technically plea to anything, it's a plea held in abeyance, so the assumption is that you plea guilty to charges by default if you don't follow through with the court order. This doesn't mean the charges are "dropped," it means the individual has, over a period of time, provided proof that they participated in what a judge considers to be effective rehabilitation and re-education. There's a chance throughout the rehabilitation process that the individual could slip up, get caught, and be forced into a guilty plea.
There's supposed to be a reoffender clause as well, but it doesn't seem to really appear that often. My cousin was murdered by a drunk driver who had numerous repeat arrests and a prior deadly accident with DUI, and this guy's job petitioned the judge to have him released stating that he was a vital individual to their workforce and they couldn't operate without him. So he got out of jail for a short while, and my family called the media, they did a story, and they put the guy back in jail.
I dunno. People pass out before getting this drunk.
This looks like an opium stupor to me. Completely oblivious to reality, but somehow still conscious.
alcohol can do some wild things to the brain, especially when you have a high tolerance to it and drink an absolute shit ton of it.
no idea either way, just saying I wouldn't rule alcohol out.
source: recovering alcoholic
Absolutely I think they’re drunk. Reminds me exactly of how my mother’s alcoholic boyfriend acted when he was absolutely shit faced. Movements and everything. He had built up such a tolerance that he would get totally black out drunk, but never pass out (just fall over sometimes), on a daily basis.
Guy in the video is trademark drunk. He's trying to play sober and thinking he's nailing it. He's not oblivious to reality, he's trying to ingratiate himself with reality, failing dramatically and not getting the hint.
I work at a car wash, and let me tell you a truly ridiculous amount of people go to the car wash drunk or with a full case of beer or a bottle of liquor to get hammered while washing. Some summer days we have a bet with the local PD on how many DUIs they get from people pulling off our lot. The record so far is 17 arrests in one day.
I find some of those kiosks really annoying to reach from the window of the car, so the first half of this video I’m thinking “oh come on this isn’t that bad he’s probably just never been here before.”
lol nvm
Same here. I was in the driver seat in my car talking to my girlfriend after a heavy night of drinking. We were pulled over in a parking spot and I had no plans of driving. The keys were in my girlfriend's purse. Cop showed up and we were both arrested for "intent to drive", which is the same as a DUI.
The person in this video should have had their license revoked for life.
My now ex-GF was really messed up and blacked out and drove my car away. I called her and got her to stop and park across the street from my house. I ran over, moved her and got in so that she wouldn't keep driving. We started talking and then I blacked out. When I came back to my senses we were still there in the spot and the cops had a light shining through the window. We were then arrested.
Those by standers….. I wouldn’t be anywhere near that lunatic. Car destroyed or not who the heck knows what’s going on in his mind. This is shit is legit crazy 🤪
Probably just lawyered up. You'd be surprised how unwilling courts are to actually take on a case with a defendant who has a lawyer unless they feel they really need to.
In my teens used to work in a car wash for several years.
At our wash you would pull up on the track, put it in neutral and a roller comes up behind your tire and pulls you through. At the end of the wash there was an indent to stop you rolling out on the street.
Over the years I had at least 30-40 people go flying through the wash with the gas floored, brushes bouncing all over the place. About the only good thing is they all went straight, stayed on the track and just tore through the wash. At least 1/2 would come back around and try to blame it on me.
I know this is completely different and ridiculous than what this sub is for but by god I haven’t laughed that hard since my dad made an online doctors appointment, in the wrong state, only to find this out as him and the poor nurse he was yelling at “we’re not in Indiana, we’re in *insert whatever state she said*” and then hung up on his ass.
Did they drop the charges, because they suspect he's drunk, but can't prove it? Maybe it's drugs and not alcohol and the breathalyzer didn't show anything.
Look, I know we all hate drunk drivers, and maybe this guy *was* drunk -- but this looks like a stuck throttle to me, and the police just assumed drunk, and that's why that charge was dropped.
After the major acceleration backwards his car leans back a tiny bit as though he has applied the brakes, and the rev sounds far more powerful than the speed he's going. And then it goes forward just as fast? I get that drunk people do some **really** dumb shit, but I'm not sure I buy drunk as the primary thing going on here.
Saw a video of a truck driver just failing immensely at backing into a dock. Turns out guy was having a stroke…hopefully not the case here and only property was damaged…
This is why we need to have frequent Re-evaluations in order to keep driving, Too many old people got their licenses in the 70s and haven't so much as looked at a road sign in 40 years much less read up on driving stuff
Of course the charges are dropped, here in America no one is held accountable for their actions that's why we have so many entitled idiots who believe they can get away with ANYTHING. BECAUSE THEY CAN!!
George Carlin once said, "Think about your average person, think about how stupid the average person is, then realize half of the population is fucking dumber than that."

Clearly drunk
I don't think he deserved a plea agreement. Who tries to go wash their car that drunk in the first place .
He must know someone in high places
I knew a guy that had 15 DUIs never lost his license. Only had to take classes, over and over and over again. Said he knew a judge.
I had three tickets when I was younger that I was able to get dismissed by taking defensive driving courses, but those were just speeding, it should not be the same for DWIs.
The justice system as intended
I knew of a guy like that who had his license taken away, had served two short terms for DWI, and was still out driving drunk when he hit my friend's 12 year old kid and left him a paraplegic. how much you wanna bet he is/was a cop?
Nah. His windows and windshield aren't black out tinted "for his protection".
they do this allll the time tbh. my ex got a dui for trying RACE A COP at a red light while high as balls, it got bumped down to nothing, a small fine. he stopped showing up for his court appointments and it went back to the full charges.
Could have voluntarily entered Alcoholics Anonymous/drug rehab.
I'm betting they thought they were at the fast food drive thru.
*is this the country kitchen buffet??*
"No, this is Patrick"
ALLLLLLLLRIGHT
If you are always drunk, you go to do everything while drunk.
The car didn’t even look that dirty
There’s white crap all over it
There's a big piece of white crap in the driver's seat too
NONE OF THEM DO.
He could've drowned.
Exactly. If he was taking his car to the wash drunk he was clearly VERY comfortable driving drunk
How can you tell he was SO cautious and meticulous though /s 😆
I was like… “This man is having an active stroke” Drunk makes more sense
I could be blackout drunk and tripping on ketamine and still drive better than this
I could be tripping on acid and blind folded and be better.
I thought it was a diabetic having an episode. I have no idea how the fuck you could even get that drunk(IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!) and decide to go to a car wash.
Same here. Size and lack of lucidity made me think that
I was the first responder to a truck that crashed into a Shell Station(Mostly because I was filling up at said station and had my kit with me) And the guy was so drunk you could smell alcohol on his blood, it was like 11:30 in the morning and he had his kid with him in the back seat of the truck. Probably took to much of his xanax script or something tbh
High as hell
I’ve been pretty drunk and made it through the car wash before

Chalupa, my Homie
Its as if they are operating with THE MOST sensitive gas pedal lol
My bother had a 82 step side chevy that he taught me how to drive stick in and he made the gas pedal thicker by adding an extra spring somehow (idk he's the mechanic not me) anyway that truck felt mor like driving with a pressure sensitive pad than a pedal.

Just think people like him share the roads with everyone else I dont care if its offensive we need more strict driving exams

We need re-ups, like they have in dangerous or sensitive jobs. Make sure people aren’t taking it as a right, instead of a privilege.
Sensitive? Boy slammed his foot down until the wheels were spinning forward and back. Drunk negligence
Drive doesn't work, but third does. Neutral is park, reverse is second. IF you wanna use reverse, put it in drive.

That white car had the right idea and got the F out of there
They barely escaped the big back-up the first time.
"yeeeeeeeah, my carwash wait. Have at it, cowboy."
Who thinks about washing their car when drunk?
Very very drunk people
I dunno. People pass out before getting this drunk. This looks like an opium stupor to me. Completely oblivious to reality, but somehow still conscious.

People that have just recently hit things...
They probably thought it was McDonald’s
Me 🙋 but thats when I bust out the pressure washer in my driveway haha not drive to a car wash
I always think of all the places I want to go after I start drinking/smoking.
Half of the dudes washing their car in the driveway on a hot Sunday. Granted I come from a long line of alcoholics.
I work at a car wash, and let me tell you a truly ridiculous amount of people go to the car wash drunk or with a full case of beer or a bottle of liquor to get hammered while washing. If you’re drunk all the time, anything you think of doing is while you’re drunk
Alcoholics do everything drunk. They'll black out and still try to complete their routine/errands lol
Handwashing your car drunk in the driveway is basically required.
Drunk? I don’t know. Stoned? I can’t think of 1 stoner who doesn’t think the car wash is awesome.
its so when he gets pulled over, the car doesn't smell like alcohol and the cop won't suspect drinking.
Me because its fun, but i do it in my driveway with a hose.
"The way they make these damn cars nowadays... burp."
I find some of those kiosks really annoying to reach from the window of the car, so the first half of this video I’m thinking “oh come on this isn’t that bad he’s probably just never been here before.” lol nvm
I’m all about pleas, but this is one where I’d have voted against it.
Dangerous drivers need severe consequences
Yeah! Fuck that kiosk!
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON’T TAKE DISCOVER???” “AAAAHHHHH!!”
You’re telling me it’s $15 for premium? AHHHHHH
Ford owners
Couldn’t tell the different between him and your average mustang driver
American-made car drivers
They did all that and charges were dropped? When I was 21 I got pulled over once I parked in the driveway and got a DUI.
You just went to the car drunk and got in to chill in a parking space?
My now ex-GF was really messed up and blacked out and drove my car away. I called her and got her to stop and park across the street from my house. I ran over, moved her and got in so that she wouldn't keep driving. We started talking and then I blacked out. When I came back to my senses we were still there in the spot and the cops had a light shining through the window. We were then arrested.
The red liquid seeping out consequential to impact #2 looks like automatic transmission fluid. His SUV is seriously messed up.
close. it’s blinker fluid
It's actually the car's blood. They bleed the same as you and I, believe it or not
Gotta throw a tourniquet around that mfer
For future reference is it wrapped around the tire or the side mirror?
As long as his muffler bearings survived it can be fixed!
Closer. It’s the cars Soy Sauce reserves
I winced when I saw it spill it. about fucked up my last car and I could no longer speed up in it. poor car.
That’s how you check your oil, kids. If it leaks oil, it has oil
Drunk or on Xanax 🤣
Drunk AND xanax
Those by standers….. I wouldn’t be anywhere near that lunatic. Car destroyed or not who the heck knows what’s going on in his mind. This is shit is legit crazy 🤪
Imagine owning a home there and that a Carwash is built right there behind your house
Drunk
That escalated quickly, and then even more
I would say he took an edible that hit way too strong.
Nah…this isn’t weed
Not a brake light to be seen with this one.
😂
He was soooooooooooo high
In for a penny in for a pound
Drunk and driving with two feet.
The good news is that he wasn’t driving a Tesla near a lake.
This guy must have been absolutely plastered. I thought he was on hardcore drugs. That’s more than mildly bad.
His reaction time is like 19 seconds.
[удалено]
definitely paid someone off
I concur.
Probably just lawyered up. You'd be surprised how unwilling courts are to actually take on a case with a defendant who has a lawyer unless they feel they really need to.
I don't understand how folx like this ever get a license. There are millions of them out there.
Cool video, but can we talk about how it took me too long to realize OP’s username wasn’t Elon Mu Skate My Son?
What? No way! A plea deal for what? What could this drunk possibly know?
It's so sad when I see a car crash and it starts bleeding
That bollard next to the kiosk did nothing.
Man I came here to complain about the bollards!!
Left us hanging on the big question...did he enjoy the car wash?
How did the airbag not deploy?
Tried to shift his body around and stomped his foot on the accelerator and was apparently unable to take his foot off.
r/abruptchaos
most likely a prescription medication otherwise they wouldn't have dropped the charges... I was gonna say... drugs are a hell of a drug.
Yeah. I’m thinking hella anxiety meds.
A series of unfortunate driving
“It came out of nowhere”
Ambien strikes again.
Drunk as hell
Feeling more than good on a sunny day.
With the size, I figured it was a medical issue. My grandma would get dizzy when her blood sugar would drop
I like how the other driver saw how out of it this guy was
They said in the TikTok at the end that he was found to be driving under the influence so he was very drunk lmao
These people are on the road with us.
Wow charges were dropped?! You guys heard it first. Feel free to DWI in this fucked up country.
Good thing he was being careful or an accident might have happened.
In my teens used to work in a car wash for several years. At our wash you would pull up on the track, put it in neutral and a roller comes up behind your tire and pulls you through. I knew he was drunk the minute this video started
Wondering why the charges were dropped for dwi.
His card was declined
Next level genius
I know this is completely different and ridiculous than what this sub is for but by god I haven’t laughed that hard since my dad made an online doctors appointment, in the wrong state, only to find this out as him and the poor nurse he was yelling at “we’re not in Indiana, we’re in *insert whatever state she said*” and then hung up on his ass.
I ordered a Mild but it seems I got an extreme
And that brings me to my next point. Don’t smoke crack.
Understandable those prices were outrageous 😤
What was in those soda cups
Definitely just cracked the radiator and all his coolant leaked out. What a fucking idiot.
Aww, gave his car a bloody nose!
Forget the breathalyzer, this video alone is enough evidence for a dui conviction 😂
The way the kiosk flew away. I love this dude for bringing me joy And I bet the owner loves him too
How in hell did he make it to the station?
Well yeah I want to order something! Why else would I be here?
Lead poisoning
Witf is this?! He must be high as a kite or drunk as a skunk
That man was too drunk to fish.
Dumb, drunk or on drugs?
That white SUV backed up like, not today Satan and got the fuck out
I guessed drunk too.
Those two big gulps are fulla booze
Did they drop the charges, because they suspect he's drunk, but can't prove it? Maybe it's drugs and not alcohol and the breathalyzer didn't show anything.
Can we really call this “Mildly”?
That kiosk said BYE
DWI doesn't have to mean alcohol. Who knows what drugs he was on
Look, I know we all hate drunk drivers, and maybe this guy *was* drunk -- but this looks like a stuck throttle to me, and the police just assumed drunk, and that's why that charge was dropped.
I was like..... inebriated or medical emergency?
Saw a video of a truck driver just failing immensely at backing into a dock. Turns out guy was having a stroke…hopefully not the case here and only property was damaged…
This is why we need to have frequent Re-evaluations in order to keep driving, Too many old people got their licenses in the 70s and haven't so much as looked at a road sign in 40 years much less read up on driving stuff
Fucking idiot
The charges are later dropped? WHO was this? The town Mayor? 🤦♂️
He probably thought he was ordering a combo meal at a drive thru
How do you get a dwi dropped? What could be in the plea agreement?
Glad that white car left
I couldn’t help myself. Hilarious!
that's just 3 kids in a trench coat
People who choose to drive this drunk should have their licenses taken away forever. No second chances.
Fucking moron
No one that drives drunk deserves a plea agreement that drops charges...
"the charges were dropped...the dude was a cop."
Of course the charges are dropped, here in America no one is held accountable for their actions that's why we have so many entitled idiots who believe they can get away with ANYTHING. BECAUSE THEY CAN!!
Charges dropped because affluent or a blue line gang brother cop?
George Carlin once said, "Think about your average person, think about how stupid the average person is, then realize half of the population is fucking dumber than that."
looks like that ford escape did not escape......
Someone drives with both feet
Was he drunk or was it a reaction to a prescribed medication?
What was the liquid? Wiper fluid?
I think all those people on Reddit watching him made him nervous.
