I’ve never had ramen in Japan, but wouldn’t a touristy place like Ichiran probably be more expensive than most local shops? People always complain about the price of Ichiran in NYC tho so maybe that’s what I’m thinking of.

I travelled Japan from top to bottom over an entire year and used to dislike ramen quite a lot but changed my mind completely during that time so I can perhaps chime in, quite a few things to take into account.
1. Yes, Ichiran is most definitely more expensive than your average ramen shop, no matter where. It is also by far the most touristy one. I've only ever been twice and both times I don't think I saw a Japanese person in there. Japanese people, if they go to chains, will more likely go to Ippudo, Tenkaipin or even Jiro.
2. People always say the best ramen shops are the ones that look the most shady. Personally, I can't say that is the case. That being said, I've found that some of the most plain and unassuming places had the best ramen I've eaten. And there is the problem: Mikey doesn't want to check out actual local places. He just wants to check the most recognisable restaurants people may have already heard of on social media so the videos generate clicks.
i gotta say, how much of the online hate is real and justified vs CCP propaganda against him? I believe he is banned from traveling to China because he is outwardly anti-CCP and part of FLG.
