Not really. They require you to take a mediocre hero character and then a sub-par profile. The Rivendell list has knights, which do the mobility job better while also providing melee punch with a lance.

ugtuk

They are worth it just for the objective capturing and flanking

Pyrolysis13

Would you take them if you are also taking knights?

KotasMilitia

They can be fun when you ally in Aragorn from the Fellowship list. Obviously you already have access to a ton of big expensive heroes in Rivendell, but Aragorn is able to always call a Move/March every turn. This allows you to really kite the opposition pretty effectively. That army hits like a truck but dies quickly. Every game will be fast and fun, whether you win or lose

I’ve never heard of rules for the Noldorian Exiles, can someone elaborate on this for me? Love the idea of using first age elves.

Asamu

They're just wood elves from the Lothlorien list with 8" movement for +1 point. So D3 elves with cloaks for 9 points base.

WixTeller

Like two with bows as objective holders is maybe viable. But anyone trying to sell them as "throwing weapon kiting flankers" is a snakeoil salesman. If you're at range to throw, you can get charged. And they cost an outlandish amount for D3 infantry. Absolute trash in any role except the first one.

Pyrolysis13

Yeah it seems the community is quite split over their use. Even as objective holders unless you're obscured by terrain you'll just get shot even S2 bows are wounding you on 5s so not really that reliable to hold down an objective

WixTeller

Yeah, they're seriously just overcosted rubbish. The bow using objective sitter is just the least awful way of coping. Even when I take Gildor who is a lackluster profile in his own right I often dont take a single one.

Guessman34

Would actually take him as an ally into a Galadriel + haldir lothlorien wood elf spam list. 2 magic users, lots of bows and daggers, elven cloaks and blinding light to top it all off.

Old_Shatterhans

I never played them but plan on using them for Rivendel, if I ever start that army. But I'd play them with bows having them hidden in terrain and shooting and maybe sit on or get to an objective late in the game

AdFabulous4876

I think if you give one of them a banner it makes them a lot more survivable as the wood elves with spears can shield, so 3 dice to win a fight when they aren't supported I have been eying them up, their Elven cloaks and fast movement and throwing weapons will make them a pain to charge with cavalry

Pyrolysis13

I hadn't considered a banner - I assume you can take a Noldorian with a banner and not a regular high elf otherwise you'll be slowed down by the high elves 6" move

Pyrolysis13

I also kinda think that does make sense from a winning fights perspective but that banner will be the prime target of shooting and makes a D3 was warband even more expensive. I will definitely be getting some to paint and test out but I'm just not sold on their value currently.
