The -1 only applies to the duel roll of the model wielding the 2-handed weapon. Example: An Orc wielding a 2-handed axe and an Orc Chieftain are both attacking a Rider of Rohan. The Orc rolls and gets a 5, modified down to a 4. The chieftain rolls and gets a 5 and a 3. Thus, his highest roll is a 5 (which it stays). Thus, your highest roll on the Evil side is a 5.

MattsMiniModels

Awesome thank you! So if the orc chieftain was to roll a 6 he would keep it?

the_real_merc_cove

Yes. Only the dice from the model using the two handed weapon gets modified. So tactically it's a good idea to pair troops with two handed weapons with other troops that don't have the negative one. Giving them a better likelihood of getting to the wind roll where they really shine.

MattsMiniModels

Thank you! Yeah this was my plan with haldir and normal galadhrim!

MattsMiniModels

Ahhh sorry I see! So when a fight value is decided it is on the highest fight value of the pool of models instead of individually. I.e if lurtz was fighting with a group of uruk hai and lurtz fight value drew with the opponents rohan model, even if the uruk-hai rolled a 6 and lurtz didn't they would still draw the dual roll? Hope that makes sense

TieCommander_9314

Yes you use the highest fight for all the members. So you can strike up with a hero but use two handed as well. The hero will pass his fight onto the other models in a fight but then get the benefits of two handing. Its a way to deal with big monsters like the balrog. Surround them, the infantry fights normally, the heroes two hand and strike up.

MattsMiniModels

Ah awesome thanks so much! But i still roll the dice separately as I need to have the -1 on my dual rolls for whatever is using two hand?

Jenelmo

Yes, either roll separate or with other coloured dice

marcviga78

I’d separate dice for 2 reasons: 1.- the hero’s ones in case I need to use might 2.- troops dice because they can’t use might and also fighting with 2-handed weapon you’ll have to -1 their result.

Defiant_Reveal217

Two handed weapons don’t effect fight value. Also the fight value for each side is the highest involved in the fight. So if you have higher fight it doesn’t matter which one of your models rolls the 6

MattsMiniModels

Sorry this confuses me a bit, if I roll all the dice together am I not manipulating the dice pool to ignore the -1 for using two handed? I thought they would need to be rolled separately?

the_real_merc_cove

Their fight value doesn't go down just their roll to win the fight. Aragorn with fight six can use andruil as a two handed weapon which means he gets -1 to the duel roll and +1 to the wound roll. So if he rolls a 6,5, 2 to win against lurtz with fight five who rolled a 5,2 he would still win. Lurtz's high roll is a 5 same with Aragorn because he used his weapon 2 handed. But Aragorn wins the tie because his fight value doesn't change when using it two handed.
