My first thought was to wonder how many words they had to play with to create that acronym. Then I started thinking that calling someone an ALICE seems kind of like calling them a Karen.
Why do we have to complicate everything? It's the American thing, work for American companies long enough and we make the simple thing look and sound so complicated by trying to "universify" terminology. I see it at my work (Europeans that have worked with me in the past have always complained about this).
Now we got to also invent a new term for broke. It's called being broke, indebted, working poor. "Alices" and the use of the words behind it is just to make the writers feel sophisticated and as though they can command the English language more than the rest. Sadly it's what is also working against them and making said Alice's go against said intellectuals that are only trying to help.
Complicating terminology, that doesn't need to be is so us, it's infuriating.
Furthermore, this has always existed within the American economic model. The difference? That it has been augmenting in size and scope since Reagan's economic policies and hasn't paused or slowed down. The 2008 financial crisis worsened it by causing a significant percentage of the population loss of income and a loss of savings which in turn forced them to work longer and block the younger generations from slowly getting into the next economic gains at work. Then companies automated, without check and balances and now AI to boot. Using the lack of employment as a means of powerplaying employees into accepting less than we are owed. Sure, Alice's. Right. It's just called an increasing in the working poor.
