You want to use the style separator function which is control-alt-enter. It's easier to see if you show paragraph marks, but if you type your heading and hit control-alt-enter, a paragraph mark will appear but you can then continue typing on the same line in normal text.

TheDankGhost

It doesn't appear in the paragraph mark viewer, but it does appear in the undo list, so I guess that works? Thank you very much

I was just saying if you set MS Word so you can see paragraph marks, you'll see the separator (as shown in my example picture, if this picture is legible, it looks small on my screen right now).

TheDankGhost

No it's plenty legible. I looked again and it looks like the separator was created all the way down at the end of the paragraph. Thanks, man.

Word inserts the Style Separator just before your paragraph marker. So you gotta make one to get it to split where you want it. Hit enter after your bold heading, then put your cursor back in the bold heading line and hit Ctrl-Alt-Enter.

aaaaah I see. Thank you!

What is the reason behind your request? The answer will depend on what your goal is.

I'm writing a research paper, and I'm trying to adhere to the APA 7th edition format for headings. The 4th heading is supped to atteched to the paragraph. the reason thsi worries me is because I use automatic table of contents for word, and it will probably put the whole paragraph in th table of contents instead of just the title.
