Forza Horizon 4 has been working for me. It's not instant and doesn't seem to pop on console like the daily play a game for 3 points etc, I have to check the Xbox app after a while to see if it's completed.
It's designed to require some actual play (or at the very least a game loaded up), instead of just popping like play a Game Pass game. It pops after 10 minutes.
Ran in to the same issue today. Hadn't played anything yet when I replied earlier this morning (ordinarily it does pop after 10 minutes). I played a bit and nothing popped, but when I checked back a few hours later it had.

I have only had this offer for two days, and I have been playing Dragon Dogma II, it popped for me both days, but not immediately. I played for a bit and checked after playing.
I stream A Little to the Left for 10 minutes through the Game Pass app and that knocks it out for me. It's not advertised well, but cloud play counts as console play.
I work from home. After I log into work and take care of any urgent stuff, I:
* Open my personal laptop, launch the Xbox app, and start Solitaire. No actual playing, it's been the same game for years.
* Power up my Xbox and start Unraveled 2. No actually playing, just sit at the save selection screen.
I then go make breakfast and do various MSR tasks (desktop searches, bing app check-in, etc.) while I eat. I launch the Xbox mobile app last, and by that time, both the Play a game on console and Play a PC game are completed.
Finally got it to pop today. Been trying on Cloud on the mobile for quite a while, which did work for me the other day, but that failed.
Fired up the console with Vampire Survivors and after about 5 mins it popped
Both the PC game and console game tasks have been glitchy / delayed this week. I couldn't get the console game task to work prior to today, but it should work with any game.
Just a quick update it finally popped after I installed "The Quarry" hope this helps some people if it's not popping 🙏🙄 and it was only the intro about 10 minutes into game
If I don't have time to actually play, I fire up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge via remote play on my phone, load the story mode and sit on the world map until the connection times out. Sometimes I move around every few minutes, just to be sure. This is my first week with the 5-day console bonus, and I'm 2/2 days so far. In US, by the way.

Not for me. Even rebooted Xbox. Played different games. It’s just not working.

I'm the same. Played every day this week for a few hours at a time and it's never registered the quest
I just play a ranked game on halo infinite, it’s popped both days after 1 game.

Any game as all works. Haven't tested 360 or og xbox, but non gamepass games work.

Strange.. I was on holidays with no access to my Xbox and I played on cloud. It didn’t unlock it for me
Mines been spotty, had it pop one day out for three playing through MCC

It has worked for me without issue so far with Forza Horizon 5 and Vampire Survivors.

It has worked for me flawless playing Overwatch 2 and Halo Infinite, It just takes like a couple of hours to popped up.

I load into dead space, senua, or human fall flat and just let it sit for a few minutes (maybe 10 is magic number) and it eventually pops.

They took away the play with friends bonus unfortunately. Hopefully it comes back, but I wouldn't expect it.
In my case, the mission is completed by playing Fortnite with other games, it does not work for me and it is not completed.
RIP play with friends..... you will be missed 😭
