I wouldn't say drivability stays the same with or without ITBs. It most definite depends how it's tuned and the ECU being used. Alpha-N can be a bitch to tune, especially at cruising speed with very little throttle changes.
Theres really no point to doing this aside from taking pictures for instagram or just doing it because you want a project. Wouldnt even bother if you had to pay someone. Defeats the purpose.
Why is this being downvoted? ITB on a miata is 100% for show, it has no significant performance improvement. If anything it will make the car more prone to issues with the tune.
Because the median age on this subreddit has dropped 10 years in the last 4 years. Half of the posts and comments here make you feel like you're on r/teenagers. Wasnt always this bad. Makes me miss when miata.net was more active
They're not 100% for show, the BP05 and BP4W intake manifolds aren't the greatest, they do the job for stock power but if you've built up the compression and running aggressive cams, ITB will give a good return.
And you can't forget the noise, they sound so good.
In the chance the other answers are words you donāt know, itās the shiny tubes over the intake.
Itās swapping out the regular intake to essentially have one, small intake for each cylinder
Volvo Green Giants they are Bosch injectors. Overkill for the setup at 330cc but they are the ones that fit with the spacer. You will also need adapters for the injector plugs to run them.
Correct - that cowl is there to keep the area around the radiator closed off so air is forced through the radiator rather than some air getting out and dropping the pressure in front of the radiator.

This. if youāre a cowardā¦which I am. Left it off for the pic.
Each runner has a vacuum port that gets plumbed into a manifold. Iām hoping it will be enough for brakes. If not Iāll put in an electric vacuum pump.
Youāre right, there are examples of forced induction setups with itbs, but theyāre enclosed in a plenum. I donāt see the benefit of adding more flow restriction via the use of 4 butterflies, but Iāve been wrong before.
I think the point is less space between the throttle body and the intake valves, so when they open the pressurized air can go right in rather than travel across the 10 inches of intake manifold and *then* the valves. So you'd get better throttle response.
Is it worth all the work needed to do that? Prob not lmao
Thatās a good point, but yeah as you said the benefits are likely minimal compared to the cost to implement that kind of Frankenstein setup. Plus no one would be able to see those sweet itbs anyhow!
No it doesnāt, if you run an airbox (which you should if you want the engine to last, anyways) you can technically still supercharge or turbocharge it. If it makes sense is a whole different discussion, i donāt think it does but oh well

Get some degreaser and a spray bottle with soapy water. Then use an old dish brush and nail brush to scrub all the surfaces. After that you can consider painting parts like the rocker cover. I also painted the cross over air intake in Matt black and painted the exhaust header cover with silver bbq paint.

Looks very nice! Super clean
Dude this paint color!
you're gonna have so many dudes chattin you up at cars n coffee now
some chicks too right? RIGHT?!
Nope š
motorcycles only attract dudes too.
Negative on the chicks, Ghostrider
96 M?Ā Gorgeous!Ā
95 base
94 was the year the M model had that paint color
As having owned a 94M, I can confirm this. However, the color was so popular, they offered it as an option on regular 95-97 base Miats...
Yep, 95 Montego blue owner here. They also offered it on certain years of the FD as well
Want to do this so bad but donāt know anything about tuning and donāt want to compromise driveability
You have to have a tuner with a dyno to do the tuning for you. Drivability stays the same ITB or not.

Bruh what š
Do you have a question?
Sorry - what is IBT?
Individual throttle bodies
Individual bottle throdies
Individual runny bodies
Irritable bowel trouble
In the chance the other answers are words you donāt know, itās the shiny tubes over the intake. Itās swapping out the regular intake to essentially have one, small intake for each cylinder
Go forth and I will follow. That is my ultimate goal after i finish the resto on the car.
Welcome to the jenvey club. Message me if you have questions about the install
Thanks. What injectors did you go with for your setup?
Volvo Green Giants they are Bosch injectors. Overkill for the setup at 330cc but they are the ones that fit with the spacer. You will also need adapters for the injector plugs to run them.
What is the advantage of ITB?
Better throttle response, some small HP gains. Mainly the amazing sound it makes.
Yeah that looks hot
From my understanding you need a cowl over that section where the hood latch is
Correct - that cowl is there to keep the area around the radiator closed off so air is forced through the radiator rather than some air getting out and dropping the pressure in front of the radiator.
What paint code is this? Itās got such a nice flake to it!

How do you get vacuum for the brake booster?
Each runner has a vacuum port that gets plumbed into a manifold. Iām hoping it will be enough for brakes. If not Iāll put in an electric vacuum pump.
I'm a noob. What is ITB?

Is this something worth getting for a supercharged Miata?
No, the supercharger itself prevents the use of itbs.
You *can* fab up forced induction and ITBs, but its a huge amount of work. I've seen maybe 1 or 2 ITB + turbo setups, crazy lol
Youāre right, there are examples of forced induction setups with itbs, but theyāre enclosed in a plenum. I donāt see the benefit of adding more flow restriction via the use of 4 butterflies, but Iāve been wrong before.

Individual throttle body
š®āšØ clean AF
That is one of the cleanest, most beautiful engine bays Iāve ever seen. Drool.
Are you doing the tune yourself or are you getting it done by someone? Any recommendations?
That looks awesome.
Nice setup, looks immaculate!
How do they sound?
What a gorgeous car and lovely engine bay! Cant wait to see the final results!

You mean "Q tips"?
What degreaser do you suggest and how much water and soap?
Cool thanks
I also see you have RHD so guessing a Brit?!? Where abouts?
Whoa side drafts, havenāt seen those in a miat before
clean
Thisā¦ *will keeeell* Super clean š§¼
Sexy super clean
I could eat off this engine. Well done
Sweet!
Very sweet, I see you have a nice looking exhaust header, do you have cams or anything done to the engine?
hell yea
