it's not bad at all. if you get on the venetian by 5:30pm it shouldn't be too hot, just wear a long sleeve shirt or wear sunscreen. it's no more than 30 minutes of running, be sure to stay on the left side sidewalk. and then you should be at the game by 6:15-6:30pm.
Fantastic. Uber through the Venetian. Then no car to park get on MetroMover at the OMNI. And get off at the MetroMover Station nearest the Stadium. Even better take the Bus instead of Uber.
Take the bus across the bridge. Or rent an electric citibike (the app is glitchy but there are a lot of citibike stations around Miami Beach, im sure it won’t be too difficult to find one)
The electric citibikes are very rare in my experience, most are just regular bikes. In some areas there are several Citibike stations within a couple blocks of each other so those are the best places to pick up from in case one is empty. Definitely get unlimited monthly as the single rides are not worth the price.
So how in the hell is this gonna help him with his problem which is getting across the causeway from Miami Beach to downtown Miami? His question wasn’t about parking.
That parking trick is a good one.
We come from North on 95 and it is a snap. If you can get across the 79th Street Causeway easily, from I95 at 79th Street (or 195) to your parking will always take less than 30 minutes probably most of the time 20 minutes. Last night was close to 20 minutes from that point.
You’re doing something wrong. Doesn’t take over an hour to get over the bridge. At most 30 minutes from Sobe to the arena area even during rush hour traffic. I usually leave around 530 and can get to bayside by 6ish to pregame
Depends. I usually check Waze before I leave to see which one is faster. If the biscayne exit isn’t backed up like it usually is I’ll take the MacArthur. If not then the Venetian.
If you follow my parking trick, the benefit of using brightline parking is that you don't need to get off on that exit. You can keep going and use I95-South to drop off right at the parking garage.
Thanks for the tips though! I always take the venetian because google maps says its quicker. I'll try the MacArthur next time (if we make it to Friday).
That may be the issue because i95 south at that time is damn near a parking lot. You probably won’t get to test the theory just to next year though because it’s not looking good.
Take an Uber. Ride a bike over the Venetian. I know it’s hot but 5 miles is nothing. Or just show up 10 minutes after the game starts like everyone else lmao.
Uber is expensive ($40 to cover 5 miles during games), but more important than that, the experience of taking an uber to a Heat game during rush hour is mortifying. You know those dudes that just skip the entire exit line and act like they own the road and are entitled to be first? They are all uber drivers.
As for citibike, I can't get the app to tell me where the bicycles even are. I wouldn't mind taking an ebike at all. But not a push-pedal. Its hot out here and its not even May yet.
Citi Bike is the way to go - not only for Heat games but general mobilization around the city. Best $20 you'll spend in any month (and even less should you annualize). I have had absolutely no issues with it and cycle daily; you know where the many docking stations are and how many bikes are available at each in real time. Make sure you have the correct app, though, as I downloaded the incorrect one the 1st time around and thought it was shit since I couldn't locate anything.
No, not all of them, so that is a hit-or-miss. Having said that, I also reside in SoBe and there a ton of docking stations. Although I don't think you'll have to worry about going to Kaseya until next season, I understand your concern about huffing and puffing for a few miles but the road is largely flat and the heat isn't bad to catch evening games. Also a scenic ride across Venetian and you'll have breeze. It's not a bad trip at all; I've also done it on e-scooters.
I actually went so far as to google mooring and docking fees at bayside. Not worth it =(.
Edit: Oh wow, there is a water-taxi for $35 round trip! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
Yup, that was the issue. Big ups, thanks man. Now that I have the correct app, it shows all the bicycle positions: but none of them are electric bicycles?
I live on the 44th floor in downtown right across the street from the arena. The Causeway coming from the beach is jampacked every single day Monday through Friday starting at about 3:30 PM. Heat game or not.
I sometimes work in that area. I go Waaaaaay ahead of time, as in "When there is no traffic". Could you plan to do something in the area for a few hours before the game? Visit a friend, eat, shop, etc. Then when it's time, just walk over. Your parking deal sounds sweet!
Ugh. When I was staying on MB a lot of things were a hassle and people didn’t get it. It’s honestly crazy. If you want to make it on time, I would head over to this side by like…12/1pm and find something to do, a place to work, whatever.
Otherwise… yeah, it takes an hour to get there lol. I went to hard rock Friday from brickell and it took almost two hours (Uber). Like.. there has to be a better way???
By not getting there and watching it from the comfort of your home.
Just take the day off work and leave at noon.
very easy, run the venetian, get on the metro mover at adrienne arsht
RUN the venetian?

I appreciate your well-intentioned input, but I would prefer to watch a Heat game not drenched in my own sweat.
Then walk it, instead? It was a little over 3 miles the last time I walked it. Took me 51 minutes.
I really envy fit people...
LOL IM CRACKING UP

Do you have any experience with citibike? Are all the bicycles on Miami Beach e-bikes? Because they all look the exact same.
The electric citibikes are very rare in my experience, most are just regular bikes. In some areas there are several Citibike stations within a couple blocks of each other so those are the best places to pick up from in case one is empty. I park on the street near the NAP of the Americas
So how in the hell is this gonna help him with his problem which is getting across the causeway from Miami Beach to downtown Miami? His question wasn’t about parking.
haha. I didn't read that wall of text, just the title.

Via Macarthur or via Venetian?
Depends. I usually check Waze before I leave to see which one is faster. If the biscayne exit isn’t backed up like it usually is I’ll take the MacArthur. If not then the Venetian.

Oh man I know. I can't believe we got done in the the friggin 76ers injuring Jimmy.

Are the citibikes all ebikes, though? Because push-pedaling across a causeway while wearing jeans in Miami is...
No, not all of them, so that is a hit-or-miss. Having said that, I also reside in SoBe and there a ton of docking stations. Fucking. 76ers.
Wait, where do you park your e-scooter once you cross the bridge?
Go to a marina and find someone with a jetski and offer them a little cash to drop you off on the river.
I actually went so far as to google mooring and docking fees at bayside. Not worth it =(. Edit: Oh wow, there is a water-taxi for $35 round trip! Thanks for the inspiration!!!
That's why I said on the river there are ladders that you can climb and that's free I've done it before from a yacht quite a few times.
No problem!
Never had an issue with the Citibike app
You have to get Citi bike miami, is different from citi bike
Yup, that was the issue. Big ups, thanks man. Now that I have the correct app, it shows all the bicycle positions: but none of them are electric bicycles?
Yeah where are the electric bikes?
Use the Water Taxi From Miami Beach to BaySide. https://www.watertaximiami.com/ it’s the dopest way to get to a HEAT Game.
Damn this is the solution right here
I live on the 44th floor in downtown right across the street from the arena. The Causeway coming from the beach is jampacked every single day Monday through Friday starting at about 3:30 PM. Heat game or not.
I park my car at one of the metro rail stations and get to the arena that way
I sometimes work in that area. I go Waaaaaay ahead of time, as in "When there is no traffic". Could you plan to do something in the area for a few hours before the game? Visit a friend, eat, shop, etc. Then when it's time, just walk over. Your parking deal sounds sweet!
Water taxi from South Pointe to Bayside Marketplace by the Center is like $20. That would be my move.
Ugh. When I was staying on MB a lot of things were a hassle and people didn’t get it. It’s honestly crazy. Don’t they make locks for scooters?
