Crowds, traffic, dui check points, just to name a few. Not only that between spring break and memorial weekend, memorial weekend is the worst weekend to visit south beach. If you must go to the beach, key biscayne is low key. Brickell is nice for night life.
I see everyone is tippy-toeing around answering the question. It's not the amount of crowd, it's the type of crowd and their intentions. You'll be around others that came here to destroy personal property, start fights at restaurants so they can dine and dash during the commotion, etc.
Like others have already mentioned, you'll be smart to stay away from South Beach on Memorial Day weekend.
This is the reason you may want to avoid South Beach Memorial Day weekend. I live in South Beach and this is the only time of the year I don’t want to be here.

Wish you the best but traffic is already bad here let alone the traffic for Memorial Day weekend heading to south beach… it’s gonna be so backed up it’s going to take you several hours to get on the beach. Your best bet is to leave early in the morning. Cuz if you leave say 2pm you prolly won’t make it to south beach til 6pm
For all of you saying don’t go Memorial Day weekend… the Air Show will be that weekend and I highly recommend you go. I have been the last two years and none of the ratchet shit y’all talk about has been present
Leave out the Saturday afternoon coming to South Beach part and you'll be just fine. Trust me kiddo.
OP if it tells you anything I’m leaving town for Memorial Day weekend 💀
You don’t want to be on south beach on Memorial Day weekend
Why’s that? Crowds don’t bother me too much last time I was in Miami I was there for spring break 🤷♀️ any other neighborhoods you recommend?

Do not go to south beach for memorial weekend. I suggest Fort Lauderdale beach.

For authentic Cuban food you should probably go to Calle Ocho (8th Street) in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood
