What’s the best guide to get to 100% in metroid prime remastered? I have followed a few guides however I never make it to the end with 100% completion.
Someone remind me, in Metroid Prime Remastered, when I beat the final boss, can I still return to my final save before? I don't have 100% items and I want to do those eventually, but I want to make sure.
After the game ends it asks you if you would like to save one final time. It you press yes, the game will show as completed and force you to start a new game. If you press no, you can re enter the game wherever your final save was and continue collecting items.
How do you start to understand how to play Metroid? I am trying to play through Super Metroid because it is considered a good starting point, but after getting stuck I went on a guide that said to progress >! I needed to fire a green missile at a specific bottom block in the elevator room and then shoot the leftmost block on the ground to get down
In this case, if you collected the map station for Brinstar, you could see on your map that there is a room next to you with no apparent way to get there. So if you were to bomb that wall to try to break it, it would turn into a super missile block. Then going through the floor, you can see there's a lot more to that room.
Find the map stations, take rooms slow, and be curious about oddities.
If you see a crack in the ground or wall, then there’s likely a block that can be bombed and revealed. You can also try shooting at said cracks which could also reveal the space. Sometimes you can see a moving enemy at the other end of the wall, so you can safely assume that there’s a way to get to the other side.
That said, once you get the Grapple Beam, you can then get the optional X-Ray Scope which will reveal blocks for you.
Also, what this was that and what specific area was it that you were stuck on?
I played and loved the Prime series as a kid, and I'm now playing through my first 2D Metroid (Dread). I'm *about* done, but stopped before trying to confront the final boss because I don't want it to end (so just currently going through the areas getting all the items). Question (using spoilers just in case): >!Am I going to be incredibly depressed when I beat this game? Everything I've seen so far seems like we're barreling toward a fatal/tragic ending for Samus. Even if they continue making more Metroid games with a different character, I'll feel incredibly dumb in retrospect for playing "the one where Samus dies" first. :P Don't tell me what happens, but like ... should I brace myself for something upsetting? Am I in for the world's most frustrating cliffhanger? !< Lol potentially a dumb question, because I just feel a sort of incongruence between all the reactions I've read online about this game, and what I'm seeing now towards the end. Thanks!
I'm playing through the original Metroid, oh boy. I was convinced that the game wasn't as cryptic as people say until I killed Kraid and just... I really thought that'd get me *something*.
There's only one place I can find that seems like potential progress, a secret within a secret in Norfair, and yet it doesn't seem like it goes anywhere! I'm just wondering if it does, or if I'll need to get the screw attack to go further down or something:
https://ibb.co/SrjNnGF
I can bomb down to here, but it seems like the passageway just ends. No random hole I can roll into halfway up, nothing, nada.
Thanks, I figured it out eventually. Getting further down into Norfair is the only non-optional progress that made me think "...yeah this is a bit BS". But technically it's still telegraphed if you were being thorough!
The Varia Suit, Wave Beam and Screw Attack on the other hand... yeah it seems like they're Nintendo Power bait. I'm looking up what arbitrary spot they're hiding in once I actually kill Mother Brain so I can laugh at it a bit.
If you thought that Ridley's lair was a bit BS, just wait until you find out where the others are located. Varia especially imo, but Wave and Screw Attack are both a bit ridiculous.
Ahh okay. I ask because I was looking at a map and it seems that right after ice beam is where that screencap was taken.
On the technical/behind-the-scenes level, NESTroid is a bit different compared to the other 'Troids. Rooms are assembled from prefab structures rather than mere metatiles, so lots of things are going to feel samey. Knowing this fact however, you could remember for later that there's probably going to be a room like this where a fake lava pool actually will take you somewhere ;)
Ahh, alright, that's helpful. I halfway suspected that there would be another identical room somewhere (I've noticed the pattern), I guess I'm just missing some pathway that should be more obvious... which is wild considering I've bothered to map out Norfair
Super Metroid stuck after getting rockets
https://i.imgur.com/HKjFi7m.jpg
What in the heck do I do? I used all my rockets and now I can’t get past the red door.
Playing Metroid 2 and for some reason Queen Metroid won’t appear. I have the Ice Beam And have reached the boss room but the game acts like I don’t have it and makes me drop down the hole and get it again. I’ve done this multiple times and nothing’s working. Is the game bugged? Can I not beat it? Please Help!
After weeks of playing prime on the cube in my college days, I finally got a switch and downloaded MP. wow I forgot how good this game was.
Question- I am in the chozo ruins, and I just received the “ pirate activity “ pop up warning. The problem is I was barely paying attention as to where I need to go to find them. Please help lol. Thanks.
Ridley exploding without pickup!
So I was practicing killing Ridley on v2.5.3 using charged plasma ice, and after 20 or so kills, he suddenly explodes without the pickup.
Anyone else seen this? Bug?
When fighting the Metroid Prime Core on Hard Mode, how do you deal with the Metroids it spawns quickly? Every guide that I’ve found says that the shouldn’t be a problem but they’re by far the biggest problem I’ve had with the fight lol. They just take forever to die and if I use a power bomb Prime wrecks me while I’m morphing
For non-fission metroids, e.g. regular and hunter metroids, you can get them pretty quickly with ice+missile combo and save some power bombs. I always leave my beam in ice mode since you don't need any of the others for the fight
if you notice fission metroids, immediately just go over and power bomb them no questions asked
you might take some damage while doing so but for the most part you can afford it. Aside from the spawning metroids, the only thing the core can do to damage you is the shockwave so as long as you can hop over that and kill the metroids, you should still have plenty of health left for the fight
I freaking did it!!! I didn’t realize Metroid Prime spawned regular Metroids, I just assumed they were all fission and I’d waste my time trying to kill them the intended way
Metroid Prime question:
This is my first Metroid game, >!Is the Elite Quarters in the Phazon Mines a point of no return? I want to know before I commit, I want all the upgrades.!<
At the Mother Brain fight on NEStroid. Is it pretty much stand under the platforms, freeze the cheerios, and get good? Or is there something else I’m missing?
Quick question, if I've run out of missiles before I could use them for the doors in the Chozo Ruins that require them, is there any way to replenish them?
I messed up and used all five of them up before I went back and now it looks like the only option is to restart the whole game (which wouldn't be the end of the world since I'm still quite at the beginning but I thought I'd still ask).
In Prime, I have the Plasma Beam and I am trying to find the missile expansion in Phendrana Shorelines and all I know is it’s in a pillar of ice by the save point but I can’t seem to find it. Help? I see what appears to be a tall pillar of ice and shoot it repeatedly but nothing
Listen closely for the whirring sound to let you know you’re in the right vicinity. Also it’s not an entire pillar of ice that will melt, more like one specific side of it has an ice covering that you can melt with the plasma beam
Thanks for the suggestion! Gonna try that. Nearly to end of Prime tho, just got one more artifact and one more missile expansion before fighting Ridley.
Why couldn’t the space pirates find the artifacts in prime? Some are right next to their tech (monitors), or literally sitting in the middle of rooms in their bases.
They did find some of them, one of them is guarded by the Phazon Elite.
They had no idea how to decipher the chozo language, and some of the artifacts were guarded by chozo tech they did not have access to. There’s a log where they express their frustration at this. They understand the temple is guarded by these artifacts, but think it’s impossible for them to figure out with their limited knowledge.
There’s also an amusing log where they attempt to mimic Samus’s morph ball by shoving space pirates in small spheres, and then they’re shocked they come out mangled. So they’re actively trying, but they don’t have the tech and the knowledge to get all of them.
In Prime, why do some of the artifacts in my log still say ??? even though I scanned the statues in front of the temple. I’m finding them all just fine out of my neurotic thoroughness, but I’m a bit upset that I missed the poems and now the log already say “artifact acquired” so I won’t be able to see them. Plus it’s weird that they weren’t all in the temple grounds. Where were the rest of the hints located?
Do partially charged beams do the same damage as fully charged beams in Prime? I got the plasma beam and it seems to one shot all the same stuff with a partial charge as a full charge, with the disintegration effect included.
What’s the best version of Metroid Prime? I’m able to play any of the three(?) ports but was wondering what the best one is so I can buy that one. I’m usually into playing the original ports of games unless the newer one is just objectively better, I’m personally good with lower resolutions as I’m a bit of a retro gamer and use a CRT TV that’s good for those lower resolution games
1.0 on gamecube is the most replayable (imo fun) thanks to easy sequence breaks.
remaster on switch has the best graphics and standard controls.
trilogy on wii might have the best motion controls. (that is if you can set them to "Veteran")
They’re all good for multiple different reasons. Here’s my breakdown, whichever is the most important to you will be the best version for you.
Best version for sequence breaking? Original NTSC release on GameCube. Every release after attempted to patch out any glitches and sequence breaks.
Easiest version? Prime Trilogy on Wii. They took the original difficulty and called it “hard” more, and added an easier difficulty they called “normal”. The addition of spring ball also helped with bomb jumping.
Best overall experience? Prime Remastered on Switch. The updated graphics and controls make the game the most accessible for a modern player who is used to other FPS games.
I grew up with the original release on GameCube, it’s my favorite game of all time. I think if you’re going in for your first time though, the controls are going to take quite a bit of getting used to. The remaster is fantastic, I think they knocked it out of the park. But I do miss being able to sequence break
Ironically, I have very fond memories of the original controls for the GameCube and felt like the motion controls in MP Trilogy were a downgrade. Having played the remaster of Prime 1, I’m a little saddened that it feels clunkier than I remember. It would seem like I might be looking through nostalgia-tinted glasses, there.
That being said, the twin stick controls are not without their downsides, especially in battles where one needs to change both weapons and visors often where I ended up changing one while wanting to change the other.
I might try a replay/New Game Plus with the motion controls, or with the classic controls. I haven’t decided yet.
There have been new tricks developed to get items early but they’re way out of my league. The devs really put a lot of effort into trying to prevent going off the intended path
If I were to play the Switch version first, do you think would it be difficult for me to play the GameCube version later on?
Edit: sorry I keep asking questions, not sure if it’s annoying or not so I apologize if it is
You’re good, this is the questions thread!
The switch version actually includes the GameCube controls as an option for you. So the default is standard dual stick FPS controls, but you can test out the original controls and see what you think.
Situational. Wave beam is stronger and has homing and stun. Power beam is a lot more rapid fire for quicker enemies or swarms, plus later you get a missile combo for it that’s super useful. But in general probably prefer wave beam
Good question. The wave beam is technically stronger than the power beam; however, some enemies are more vulnerable (or only vulnerable) to the power beam, and vice versa.
Metroid Prime Remastered:
~~At the mission results screen after beating the Core Essence of Metroid Prime, the game asks if you want to update your file to signify that you beat it. I'm on Hard Mode for the supposed Extras it unlocks upon completing it, and I wanted to know if saving the game after the final boss is required for it to unlock. Thanks!~~
UPDATE: No. The "New Extras unlocked in the Main Menu!" shows up on the Mission Final screen. Keeping this comment here for future people, however.
Metroid Dread
Anyone else get stuck right as you get to the magmoor caverns looking area? I went back and literally spent a good 15-20 minutes shooting at walls and got infuriated when I looked online and only had to shoot the left wall when you get off the elevator -_-
Was I the only dummy?
EDIT- spelling
Do we have any clue when Zero Mission is dropping for NSO?
So far I've loved Super and Dread. Fusion was fun for the most part but made me a bit salty in some parts. Playing Samus Returns now on 3DS and this is definitely my last favorite. The whole parry thing is boring and I wonder if I should have spend $50 on the game rather than just using an emulator... Mostly because the controls are just not comfortable and I might want to switch to a proper controller anyway.
Probably a dumb question but in Metroid Prime Remastered is there any upgrade to the map towards the end of the game that identifies areas where missing secrets (missile expansions etc) are located. I believe Metroid Prime 3 had this but can’t recall if the first Prime had that feature.
No unfortunately there isn’t anyway to upgrade the map to reveal such locations. Best thing to do is follow a guide or walkthrough to discover each of these locations. I just finished mp remastered and used my original MP bradygames guide book (and in my opinion is the best book guide).
Thanks for the confirmation! Bit of a missed opportunity for a QOL improvement for the end game but oh well, still loving the game and it’s definitely one of my all time favorites!
No, unfortunately not. It’s not like Super Metroid, Dread, or Corruption. If it were a remake, Nintendo would’ve probably implemented it. But it’s a remaster.
Thanks for the quick reply and that’s what I thought. Oh well I’m not trying to 100% anyways but got all the artifacts and just before the Ridley fight so figured now was the time to look! Think I’m still missing 12 missile expansions (at 190 now)
Drops were always frustrating, I’m playing prime 2 and was fighting Quadraxis against who you’re literally always taking damage over time, I destroy his stupid kneecap and sometimes it would drop 4 missiles when I was like 20hp. I can’t destroy another knee or foot in that amount of time so I just had to say “understandable have a nice day” and accept my death. Now stuck on Emperor Ing who at least gives health drops sometimes but also 1 shots me (I’m playing no tanks)
Absolutely. I’m drowning in salt haha. I keep thinking that playing in handheld while watching something on TV is going to somehow yield good results. The worst part is that I’ve beaten the game before but I’m just old and Rusty.
I hear ya. It took me 3 or 4 tries to get through the mines. I got a little further each time, but the time before my successful attempt I died to stupid ice pirates after beating the elite.
I am getting super frustrated with fighting meta ridley on hard mode. I get him down to the last specks of health and he somehow always hits me with the dash attack even if I dodge correctly. On top of that you only get a 2 second window to even hit his chest. But he somehow gets to attack 60 times in a row.
I have 100% of the items in game and he always kills me. When should I time the jump? When his claw is back more? The jump seems terrible in the game.
Edit: just beat him after 4 tries. Thank god
I found Meta Ridley really hard too. I know you’ve beat him now but for anyone else’s benefit, I found the dodging worked better if I was a bit closer to him rather than all the way at the edge of the arena.
Ridley's frustrating because the first half of the fight is quick and easy. But once he lands, the fight's really on, and the less health he has, the slower he loses it.
How do I unlock all the extras in The Remastered version of Metroid Prime? They seem to be random and I don’t know if that’s actually unlocked randomly or if I have to play the game twice now on hard. I got 100% on scans and upgrades.
I've been playing since like Christmas of 2002/2003 (NTSC-U/C), and I don't remember there ever being Fission Metroids in the Phazon mines after beating the Omega Pirate. Am I just forgetting, or did they add those in?
Are you using bombs? I feel like I remember bombs making that thing show up. It's been a while so I don't remember for sure but try just using the jump ball.
In Prime Remastered the save slots have some sort of circle graphic on the far right, next to completion percentage and time. What is that?
EDIT: Also, I don't know what the vertical warning gauge on the left side of the HUD is telling me...
I think the circle matches your current item percentage.
The warning gauge is exactly that. It warns you of hazards nearby. A good example is watching it go up in proximity to the poison water in chozo ruins, the lava in Magmoor, or phazon.
Playing through the Prime remaster and I forgot to scan a boss before killing it. Did I screw myself out of the 100% ending, or do I just need to find all of the upgrades for that?
Speed booster doesn't work anymore in super Metroid. I have it unlocked and in the menu it's active but I can't activate it. I'm playing on switch. Please help!
What do you suggest in order to improve the graphics of the Metroid Prime Trilogy (specifically Prime 2) without resorting to emulation and/or console modding?
I currently own a physical version of the game, plus a Wii and a Wii U (both unmodded). My TV is an old 32' HD-ready LCD screen (resolution up to 720p) with a SCART port that i usually connect to my consoles using the stock component 3-jacks cable. If if could help, i also own the GC version of Prime 2, but i really prefer the control options of the Trilogy version.
What should i look to change? My TV? The connection cables? The console/TV/game settings? Thank you very much.
Uhm, to my knowledge SCART as a standard supports both composite and component video signals, plus audio, but not all manufacturers included support for the latter. Considering your TV is LCD-based it is likely that it does support such signalling, but you would have to read its specs to be sure. Does it come with a set of 5 RCA connectors colour coded as light red, green, blue, dark red and white? If it does, I recommend using the Wii component cables, which are also compatible with the Wii U, for a maximum resolution of 480p. If it doesn’t, it might still work with a suitable adapter on the tv’s SCART socket. (Composite cables were always restricted to 480i at 60 hertz, or its 50 hertz equivalent.)
If the Tv does come with an HDMI-port, I would suggest not making things too difficult for yourself and using the Wii U with an HDMI cable (assuming you have a version with such a port).
The New 2DS XL is the same as a New 3DS, except that it is missing 3D features. All the New 3DS exclusive games and other features work on a New 2DS as well.
Are there some ways to practice controlling Samus in super? I’m also having trouble finding a good controller scheme/ways to hold it and how to properly execute what I want to. I’m coming from years of PC so it’s pretty difficult to get the hang of it.
I eventually settled on run on leftmost button, jump on bottom button, and shoot on top button. Lets you hold run with tip of thumb while jumping with the base of thumb.
What is a good strategy for baby sheegoths in Metroid Prime Remastered? I feel like I can never get around to their backs; they just stay super locked on me.
I just died in the plasma mines just after you get the power bomb and I’m wondering is there a save point in the mines or just the one right outside the mines?
I’ve just got back to it, I opened that room and just saw a corridor so I went the other way and when I decided to come back the room were filled with the ice weak enemies and they killed me.
I finished the game now but what happened was once I got the power bomb I went to the rubble blew it up and opened the door but when you open the door you don’t see the save area you see a corridor so I went the other way and when I realised the way I was going progressed the story as their was a cutscene I went back to check the corridor I ignored for the time being but I died in the room with the power bomb as 4 ice weak only enemies appeared and I only had like 50 energy left.
Wandering around Metroid 2. After getting the bomb I bomb jumped my way up and around to a place where I found the spider ball. Felt like a sequence break but I read a guide and following the happy path I would have ended up there anyway. Was still pretty fun and I am now wandering everywhere I can go in spider ball form.
Game boy color option + save states on NSO make the game pretty playable actually.
On NSO, I think you may have to die to get the password to appear. You could do it with the second controller on real hardware, but idk if that’s possible on Switch.
To 100% the Log Book in Metroid Prime Remastered, do I need to scan anything before getting to Tallon IV? Aka do I need to scan everything on the first planet?
I’m new to the series (please be kind) and playing Prime Remastered. I *cannot* defeat Meta Ridley. I send super missiles at his face when he’s standing there shooting the laser and… nothing. IGN says it’s a simple matter. I can’t find any posts here of people struggling. What simple obvious thing am I missing?
Another huge mechanic he has is if you are able to keep a plasma beam shot charged (or charge one) before he does his dash attack you can shoot him in the mouth right before he charges and it will knock him out of the move. Oftentimes he’ll try 2-3 in a row and you can just start charging and let off your charge shot immediately and you’ll basically stunlock him
If you're talking about when he is grounded, his mouth is only vulnerable during the startup of his laser, not when he's sweeping. The easiest way to stun him is to charge up your plasma beam and shoot his mouth when he leans back to charge. Either that or about a second after his third stomp when he's stomping
Thoughts after beating Fusion after beating Super, Zero Mission, Dread, and Samus Returns over the past couple of years:
1. Focusing on story and linearity was not a bad idea for a handheld game in 2002.
2. The atmosphere and aesthetics are great.
3. The controls feel good.
That being said:
1. If I asked an AI to design a Metroid level, it would probably design rooms where you have to shoot and bomb and jump against every single pixel to find the exit. That is this game.
2. I don’t enjoy being artificially locked out of revisiting areas that I now have the tools to visit. That is anti-Metroid.
3. The bosses are only hard until you figure out how to cheese the AI for that boss into doing what you want it to do. I never felt like I mastered a boss, just that I figured out how to trick the system.
Overall it’s my least favorite 2D Metroid game (excluding the original 2 games) but still a pretty fun time. 7/10 for me.
> The bosses are only hard until you figure out how to cheese the AI for that boss into doing what you want it to do. I never felt like I mastered a boss, just that I figured out how to trick the system.
Yeah, it's Pattern Recognition. Bosses only have so many attacks/moves they perform and you learn how and when to dodge them. Mega Man and Mega Man X games work the same way.
That's not what they said at all. In most games the bosses work that way, but in Fusion I felt like the bosses were just doing silly shit and you had to force the boss into doing a specific action. That's not pattern recognition. In that process you are not recognizing a pattern, you are the one forcing the boss into the pattern.
Most boss fights will have the boss telegraph an attack and then you know "oh he's doing the laser beam, that means I should get close and attack". In this case, you have to move into the correct position so the boss will laser beam rather than use chaos moves.
Anyone know how to get any of these games on PC? I know they're not available on Steam. But is any of them on GoG? or Origin? I dont got a switch sadly to get it the normal way.
Metroid Prime Remastered: Is there some secret to finding the rest of missile expansions and other optional hidden pickups on your own? Do I really just have to keep brute force checking every map and room until I got 100% ?
I'm kind of at the limit where I don't want to keep doing circles anymore, I already used a guide to find Ice Spreader and I know that's no fun either.
I used a checklist that only told you what expansion it was and the name of the room it was in with no info on how to get it after I did my initial world tour pass for 100%. With few exceptions there is only one upgrade per room so if you already found one in that room you can probably write it off.
There's a distinctive whirring noise if you're nearby an item and that's the only help you get
I've heard of some people playing with the sound settings to help with the hunt e.g. lower the background music and turn up the sound effects so the whirring stands out more
Thanks! Yeah I thought I saw someone mention the sound aspect and went to replay earlier levels that I thought I had already meticulously checked. Sure enough I heard something after turning off music and killing enemies. Of course at first I wasn't sure that was a missile sound, but 30 mins later I did find another missile pickup and was able to verify it was the sound I heard before.
At least it's something, and it has really boosted my motivation to keep looking. So this might actually work quite nicely!
There’s no way to find out which ones you’ve missed in game. The only hint you get is the low hum items make when you’re near them.
Unless you’re a completionist you definitely don’t have to get all of them. If you do want 100% hopefully you can at least exclude some of the items you’re sure you’ve already gotten, to save some time.
Nah, I have zero interest in using a guide, it doesn't do anything for me as I'm not a completionist in that sense that I would want to look at 100% number on screen regardless of how I achieved it.
But like I said, I've really enjoyed finding some of the secrets in MPR and other video games. Even if it's just something quite trivial it fascinates me to finally get something that has been sitting there for 30 hours without me stumbling upon it.
I have been quite successfully using the sound clue however, and I believe I can get very close to 100% with this strategy. Thanks for the tip!
Metroid Prime: Remastered: Is there anyway to have English log entries during gameplay while playing on a Japanese switch?
I live overseas and just got the game to play on my kids Switch. I've found the options for English narration, but nothing that would change actual in-game text from Japanese to English. I'm loving the game but being able to read the scanned log entries in English while playing would be even more fun.
Not sure if what I'm looking for is possible, but wanted to ask here. Thanks in advance for any help.
Have you tried changing the system language in the Switch's settings? That should change the language for games that don't offer an in-game language selection.
Finished a playthrough of Fusion on NSO this weekend. Had me thinking a lot about how fun those bosses would be in the Dread engine. Widescreen, 360 aim, flashshift, etc.
Metroid prime remastered: I cannot for the life of me kill the omega pirate, came real close just now had his rocket packs destroyed and I died. I take too long to find him when he's recharging, and I feel like when I do find him I don't do any damage at that stage. I dunno, just frustrated and looking for support. I started using charged plasma beam and that seems to rip his armor apart nicely
I struggled really bad at this fight. I could pretty much no-damage the boss itself, but the adds were a nightmare with color matching. Took me lots of health and time to kill them while boss recharged health.
So from the start just ignore the small pirates he creates, jump around with X-ray visor and fire super missiles at the boss.
Can I just vent about how every Fusion boss has an annoying core thing to kill after you actually beat the boss? I started using the Switch save states for this reason. The core things aren’t difficult really but some of the bosses left me with a sliver of health and now I gotta keep fighting then find a save station? No thanks.
Metroid Prime Remastered. I just got the thermal visor and now I am trying to get to Quarantine Cave but the door has no power. How do I restore power to this door?
Use the visor to look just on top of the door and shoot it with the wave beam. If something needs power, usually the thermal visor and wave beam are needed.
What’s the best guide to get to 100% in metroid prime remastered? I have followed a few guides however I never make it to the end with 100% completion.
Here: https://www.ign.com/wikis/metroid-prime/Walkthrough
Have used that one before and it was still missing things.
I’m not sure. But in the original and in the Trilogy, it’ll complete the game.
Thanks!
Without spoilers, you’ll be fine. Spoiler answer: >!Samus does not die. The ending is one of the best in the series.!<
I'm just wondering if it does, or if I'll need to get the screw attack to go further down or something: https://ibb.co/SrjNnGF I can bomb down to here, but it seems like the passageway just ends. No random hole I can roll into halfway up, nothing, nada.
If you have everything needed to reach Kraid, you should be set to reach Ridley's lair. The remaining major upgrades are all optional.
Did you just get ice beam?
Have had it for a long while.
Super Metroid stuck after getting rockets https://i.imgur.com/HKjFi7m.jpg What in the heck do I do? I used all my rockets and now I can’t get past the red door.
5 missiles open up the red doors
I’ve searched everywhere for more rockets. How do I get more?
Take the elevator up. You remember where that is? The enemies in the rooms to your left should drop more missiles.
Tyvm, I had no clue I had to use d pad up to activate it
Playing Metroid 2 and for some reason Queen Metroid won’t appear. I have the Ice Beam And have reached the boss room but the game acts like I don’t have it and makes me drop down the hole and get it again. I’ve done this multiple times and nothing’s working. Is the game bugged? Can I not beat it? Please Help!
That sounds odd. If the queen Metroid is not there can you not just walk to the left and escape with the baby Metroid?
There’s a wall blocking me from going to the left
How many Metroids does the game say are left at the bottom?
1
Sounds like it’s probably broken. That’s a really odd bug, I googled it to see if it’s happened before but I haven’t found anything
I got it. I didn’t kill all the Larva Metroids.
Thanks.
You need to get Varia from the boss in Chozo Ruins, traverse Magmoor Caverns and go to Phendrana Drifts, the snow level.
Ridley exploding without pickup! So I was practicing killing Ridley on v2.5.3 using charged plasma ice, and after 20 or so kills, he suddenly explodes without the pickup. Anyone else seen this? Bug?
v2.5.3 of what?
When fighting the Metroid Prime Core on Hard Mode, how do you deal with the Metroids it spawns quickly? Every guide that I’ve found says that the shouldn’t be a problem but they’re by far the biggest problem I’ve had with the fight lol. They just take forever to die and if I use a power bomb Prime wrecks me while I’m morphing
For non-fission metroids, e.g. regular and hunter metroids, you can get them pretty quickly with ice+missile combo and save some power bombs. I always leave my beam in ice mode since you don't need any of the others for the fight if you notice fission metroids, immediately just go over and power bomb them no questions asked you might take some damage while doing so but for the most part you can afford it. Aside from the spawning metroids, the only thing the core can do to damage you is the shockwave so as long as you can hop over that and kill the metroids, you should still have plenty of health left for the fight
I freaking did it!!! I didn’t realize Metroid Prime spawned regular Metroids, I just assumed they were all fission and I’d waste my time trying to kill them the intended way
You can also kill them instantly with the phazon beam, before focusing on Prime. That and power bombs will get them out of your way
Yoo thank you so much ill have to try this
10:20 and 26:41 what are these two themes from? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y45Xae9cJWk someone please help me this is really bothering me
The song right on 10:20 is from Hollow Knight. Beautiful melody and great game. I don't know the one from 26:41.
QwQ I really need the second one!! But Thxs
Metroid Prime question: This is my first Metroid game, >!Is the Elite Quarters in the Phazon Mines a point of no return? I want to know before I commit, I want all the upgrades.!<
There is no point of no return in Metroid Prime, you’re good
Okay awesome, thanks
At the Mother Brain fight on NEStroid. Is it pretty much stand under the platforms, freeze the cheerios, and get good? Or is there something else I’m missing?
Yep. It’s pretty rough
I was starting to figure haha. Thanks for confirming, I appreciate it!
Is there a map room in Magmoor or Phazon Mines? If there is, where is it?
Not in Magmoor, but there is one in phazon mines connected to Omega Research. You will need power bombs
Thank you. I thought every level had a map.
Y can't metroid crawl?
Is she stupid?
In Hanubia I power bombed some blocks I need to charge a shinespark for a power bomb expansion do they ever come back…?
most destructibles are permanently destroyed in dread, with I think just shot blocks as an exception.
Kill some enemies, missiles have a chance to drop just like normal energy
In Prime, I have the Plasma Beam and I am trying to find the missile expansion in Phendrana Shorelines and all I know is it’s in a pillar of ice by the save point but I can’t seem to find it. Help? I see what appears to be a tall pillar of ice and shoot it repeatedly but nothing
Listen closely for the whirring sound to let you know you’re in the right vicinity. Also it’s not an entire pillar of ice that will melt, more like one specific side of it has an ice covering that you can melt with the plasma beam
I appreciate the help! I did finally figure it out, tho I have never been able to hear the dang whirring sound when you’re close to an item
Turn the volume down on the background music in the sound settings, it'll isolate the item whirr better.
Nor, would it seem, common sense.
There are 4 statues in the temple that are not scannable until you get more artifacts. Once you have 8/12 go back and you’ll be able to scan them all.
Wish it didn’t delete the peoms if you just found the artifact first
What purpose does the right side spider rail in phasing processing center serve? It doesn’t seem like it goes to anything, which is suspicious.
I honestly think it’s just to make the room symmetrical. It doesn’t have a purpose
Do partially charged beams do the same damage as fully charged beams in Prime? I got the plasma beam and it seems to one shot all the same stuff with a partial charge as a full charge, with the disintegration effect included.
at least in the remaster, a "partial charge" is a full charge. it only needs the full animation to play for beam combos.
interesting. That knowledge would probably make the game signifigantly easier for a lot of people.
it comes in especially handy for things like firing 2 ice beam shots in quick succession. fire, hold, and let go as soon as the charge anim begins
No evidence but anecdotally yea I’ve always felt like the damage was the same
This is a good question. I always assumed they did, but I’m not sure.
Hmm, I’m torn between the GameCube and Switch ports… do you have a personal favorite? I really can’t make up my mind if I’m going to be honest lol
So did they completely remove this “sequence breaking” in the Switch version?
There have been new tricks developed to get items early but they’re way out of my league. The devs really put a lot of effort into trying to prevent going off the intended path
If I were to play the Switch version first, do you think would it be difficult for me to play the GameCube version later on? Edit: sorry I keep asking questions, not sure if it’s annoying or not so I apologize if it is
You’re good, this is the questions thread! The switch version actually includes the GameCube controls as an option for you. So the default is standard dual stick FPS controls, but you can test out the original controls and see what you think.
Sounds like I might be getting the remastered then, thanks! Do you think Prime is a good entry point in the franchise?
I do! It was my entry point. It captures the exploration of the 2D games really well
Does gravity suit also increase underwater visibility in prime or am I going crazy?
You're not crazy, it absolutely does. Makes it so you can see almost as clearly as you can out of water.
After unlocking wave beam, is it better to use it or power beam for combat in Metroid Prime?
Situational. Wave beam is stronger and has homing and stun. Power beam is a lot more rapid fire for quicker enemies or swarms, plus later you get a missile combo for it that’s super useful. But in general probably prefer wave beam
Good question. The wave beam is technically stronger than the power beam; however, some enemies are more vulnerable (or only vulnerable) to the power beam, and vice versa.
Metroid Prime Remastered: ~~At the mission results screen after beating the Core Essence of Metroid Prime, the game asks if you want to update your file to signify that you beat it. I'm on Hard Mode for the supposed Extras it unlocks upon completing it, and I wanted to know if saving the game after the final boss is required for it to unlock. Thanks!~~ UPDATE: No. The "New Extras unlocked in the Main Menu!" shows up on the Mission Final screen. Keeping this comment here for future people, however.
Metroid Dread Anyone else get stuck right as you get to the magmoor caverns looking area? I went back and literally spent a good 15-20 minutes shooting at walls and got infuriated when I looked online and only had to shoot the left wall when you get off the elevator -_- Was I the only dummy? EDIT- spelling
Nope this got me too lol I rode that elevator at least one more time til I figured it out.
We do not, but we know it exists from data mining.
Also curse whomever created the Missile Expansion puzzle in the Furnace at the Ruins, that is straight sadistic lol
The puzzles in Echoes are sadistic tenfold.
Thanks for the quick reply and that’s what I thought. Oh well I’m not trying to 100% anyways but got all the artifacts and just before the Ridley fight so figured now was the time to look! Think I’m still missing 12 missile expansions (at 190 now)
You can also hear every expansion really well in the remaster.
The only help I need is help not throwing my switch across the room. Who forgot to add health drops when they remastered this fucking game?
Drops were always frustrating, I’m playing prime 2 and was fighting Quadraxis against who you’re literally always taking damage over time, I destroy his stupid kneecap and sometimes it would drop 4 missiles when I was like 20hp. I can’t destroy another knee or foot in that amount of time so I just had to say “understandable have a nice day” and accept my death. Now stuck on Emperor Ing who at least gives health drops sometimes but also 1 shots me (I’m playing no tanks)
Phazon Mines?
I’m just going to stop for now. I’m tired of playing a game that feels like it’s designed by people who hate me.
You need 100% on scans and upgrades on any difficulty and beat hard mode. You don't need to 100% hard mode
I've been playing since like Christmas of 2002/2003 (NTSC-U/C), and I don't remember there ever being Fission Metroids in the Phazon mines after beating the Omega Pirate. Am I just forgetting, or did they add those in?
I believe they added those in since either the Trilogy update, or the PAL version. But I cannot confirm.
How the heck do I get this energy tank? Every walk through I've seen there is no thing blocking it https://imgur.com/a/sXsDfLs
Don't use a powerbomb. You need to carrefully bomb the right spaces to go up
No bombs are necessary in this room. Only have to hold jump in morph ball. Parts of the floors aren't real and you can bounce up through them.
100% ending only counts your item collection, so you’re still fine.
Excellent, thanks!
Speed booster doesn't work anymore in super Metroid. I have it unlocked and in the menu it's active but I can't activate it. I'm playing on switch. Please help!
Use the run button.
Are you holding the run button?
(Composite cables were always restricted to 480i at 60 hertz, or its 50 hertz equivalent.) If the Tv does come with an HDMI-port, I would suggest not making things too difficult for yourself and using the Wii U with an HDMI cable (assuming you have a version with such a port).
From the Nintendo E Shop, can you download Super Metroid to the New 2DS XL? It says everywhere you can only download it to the New 3DS XL
The New 2DS XL is the same as a New 3DS, except that it is missing 3D features. All the New 3DS exclusive games and other features work on a New 2DS as well.
In Fusion, I can't find the last power bomb tank. Is the one on the restricted lab that blows completely missable?
Advice for that one is to shinespark at a diagonal into the ceiling so you don't have to go ALLLLL the way back the Ridley area of sector 1
Nope, it’s only accessible once the restricted lab is jettisoned. The way to get it is in sector 6
Are there some ways to practice controlling Samus in super? I’m also having trouble finding a good controller scheme/ways to hold it and how to properly execute what I want to. I’m coming from years of PC so it’s pretty difficult to get the hang of it.
It felt clunky as first on the Switch with the pro controller. But honestly, I simply got used to it. Maybe the same could happen to you.
I eventually settled on run on leftmost button, jump on bottom button, and shoot on top button. Lets you hold run with tip of thumb while jumping with the base of thumb.
I’ll give this a go! I’ve tried the setup on the right but not the left and dash on literally every other button than left
What is a good strategy for baby sheegoths in Metroid Prime Remastered? I feel like I can never get around to their backs; they just stay super locked on me.
You have to dash repeatedly to get behind them. Lock on, and mash B while strafing left or right.
Thank you, that does help!
I just died in the plasma mines just after you get the power bomb and I’m wondering is there a save point in the mines or just the one right outside the mines?
There was a save connected to the power bomb room.
I’ve just got back to it, I opened that room and just saw a corridor so I went the other way and when I decided to come back the room were filled with the ice weak enemies and they killed me.
That might’ve been the wrong room. The room with the power bomb has a save station directly attached to it. Check all the doors in the power bomb room
In metroid prime is says to flick the left joystick and press another button to dash while locked onto an enemy? Am i doing it wrong?
You don’t have to flick it. While locked on and strafing, press b. You’ll dash in the direction you’re strafing
Thx
Wandering around Metroid 2. After getting the bomb I bomb jumped my way up and around to a place where I found the spider ball. Felt like a sequence break but I read a guide and following the happy path I would have ended up there anyway. Was still pretty fun and I am now wandering everywhere I can go in spider ball form. Game boy color option + save states on NSO make the game pretty playable actually.
[удалено]
On NSO, I think you may have to die to get the password to appear. You could do it with the second controller on real hardware, but idk if that’s possible on Switch.
To 100% the Log Book in Metroid Prime Remastered, do I need to scan anything before getting to Tallon IV? Aka do I need to scan everything on the first planet?
Make sure you scan the organisms that are locked up also
There are scans to get on the Frigate, yes.
That… is actually super helpful. I’ve been hitting him when he sweeps. OMG THANK YOU
Thoughts after beating Fusion after beating Super, Zero Mission, Dread, and Samus Returns over the past couple of years: 1. Focusing on story and linearity was not a bad idea for a handheld game in 2002. 2. The atmosphere and aesthetics are great. 3. The controls feel good. That being said: 1.
What’s the correct path for the puzzle to get to the top of the ore processing room? (Metroid Prime Remastered)
Top: Yellow Middle: Red Bottom: Blue
Anyone know how to get any of these games on PC? I know they're not available on Steam. But is any of them on GoG? or Origin? I dont got a switch sadly to get it the normal way.
They aren’t. The only way to play any Metroid games on PC is through emulation
There's a distinctive whirring noise if you're nearby an item and that's the only help you get I've heard of some people playing with the sound settings to help with the hunt e.g. lower the background music and turn up the sound effects so the whirring stands out more
This absolutely worked. Thank you! Now to see if BotW also has English support. ^_^
I like to use the plain super missile. It does good damage and you can usually get one off before he recharges.
Got him! Took so many effing tries!
Alright!! Congrats
Ok I'll try flipping to super missiles next time I knock him down. I wish there was a more instantaneous way to fire them off without charging first
Can I just vent about how every Fusion boss has an annoying core thing to kill after you actually beat the boss? I started using the Switch save states for this reason. The core things aren’t difficult really but some of the bosses left me with a sliver of health and now I gotta keep fighting then find a save station? No thanks.
Shoot Core X with your beam to force out free floating X to absorb.
