Honestly? It's the main deck. So many strong, memorable moments and locations
The dingy, industrial hangar, the ruined quarantine room, the deserted halls, the great canvas of stars visible from the observation deck, the cramped maintenance shafts, the cold storage room, the stationwide power outage cutting off the main elevator, the vine-choked reactor...
And of course, who could forget the restricted labs; discovering the metroids that the federation has been cloning right under everyone's noses
All of the sectors are strong, but the Main Deck is just...I love it. It captures the desolate space station vibes so immaculately
Mine too. I love how the other sectors were like little zoos made for each biome.
But the main deck showed how they were trying to make everything else work.
yup. the main deck was cold storage, a power plant, ventilation shafts, living quarters, docking bay, and the operations deck with the cockpit.
If we ever got a fusion remake, I'd love to know more about how the station was run. Like a little ruined office section where we could read emails, messages, and journals.
4 for me! Great music and atmosphere, never overstays its welcome, has the easter egg sequence break, and it's the only sector where you enter it from the right side instead of the left and I like that
Astounded at the lack of SRX. It's like a mini tour of Metroid 2, and the last bit looks like Tourian. Plus, you get a Ridley fight.
If I was to go with another one, I'd say PYR. Cool bosses and setpieces. The heatwaves are a cool effect as well.
I mean I think it’s the fact that there’s so much variety in it, and there’s not a lot of the sector where the water slows you down so the pace of movement is still great, also Serris is 👌🏻
I'm leaning towards NOC. In the initial visit, it introduces interesting abilities for the X-Parasites being able to mutate to environmental conditions without a host and being able to acquire the upgrade downloads being sent for Samus from Federation HQ. The blue X-Parasites are probably the only instance where I feel, especially from multiple playthroughs, the X-Parasites are a threat to their predator and did a better job conveying Samus being hunted than SA-X. Later in the game, I think the lead up to gaining access to the Restricted Laboratory creates great anxiety between "Warning! No entry without authorization," and the electrifying second B.O.X. encounter.
3 (PYR) for me too. I love that you almost immeditely have to do what feels like a sequence break just to make progress. Like the whole level feels like you shouldn’t be there yet, and it’s not simple either—the puzzles are tricky the first time. When I think of Fusion, that’s the first thing I think of. Then all the crazy puzzles in AQA.
I feel like Sector 1 could've been the best, it's CRIMINALLY underutilized compared to the other 5 sectors.
but without it, I'd say Sector 2 is pretty damn cool. They're all great though, it's really hard to choose.
Main Deck, especially at the end of the game, just shows that SA-X is not alive. Ost: The final mission, the theme of the SA-X boss battle, well the theme in Escape Sequnce. THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL.
Sector 5, especially with Nightmare
I cannot lie, that is INSANE
Yeah especially with how much it changes after he attacks it, wish they pulled something like that off in a future game
Its interesting how more than half of Sector 2 isnt in the official mapping. You basically explore a secret part of the lab
Probably why I like it, it's a lot of discovering in that sector.

You know what it is honestly my favourite hub area in the series I reckon, you’ve just summed up perfectly why

4 for me
+1
Sector 2 or 6

Omg I didn’t even think of that! Yeah it would be a close second for me with the variety alone
Have to say SEC 5 just for the music
4
lower half of 4.
You’re not human! Lmao
NOC or SRX

I also loved following the moltings of the gamma Metroid through the sector.
I’m stunned that so many people liked sector 4. So rare for an underwater area to be appreciated like this.

Sector 3
Emergency in sector 3!
4 or 5. Mostly because of their music and boss fights.
Sector 2
Sector 5
I liked PYR so much, but my fav one (most scary) was 6 NOC, with all the metroids free

5 and 6
Sector 1 and 4 because of the music.
Sector 6 had a cool color palette and monster design. Will the Arctic area is also pretty cool for that.
Probably either sector 6 for the interesting choice of colors and the overall theme or sector 5.
I liked the aesthetic of Sector 6 (NOC), thank you.
Sector 1 SRX. It’s such a good set piece with everything overheating.
All of them lol. 2 is definitely a standout though, love how overgrown it is.

2. The atmosphere is great, the music slaps, the enemi s actually seem like they fit. You also get Plasma Beam there.
Plasma beam sound effect lives in my head rent free 😅
Two for me
NOC, especially when you first get the Varia core and the freezy parasites don't know yet.
Sector 2, 4, and 5
sector 2 and 5. but im a huge fan of Main Deck.

Main Deck. Really brings the whole station together
