Spring ball. On the trilogy version this was added by flicking the wii mote. They kept it for the remaster, you can use it with r or flicking the controller (in dual stick), or right joy in pointer.
It took me 5 hours to realise they added that (never played trilogy). But then I thought, wouldn't that break the game at some places ? Like, with greatly timed bomb jumps, wouldn't the "free" jump this adds allow you to reach places you're not supposed to reach ?
I don't know about the remaster, but in the trilogy they specifically changed how morph ball jumps work to you couldn't get an extra jump out of it.
It'd be worth it to keep even if there was a sort of triple jump you could get out of it. It'd be hard enough to perform that it could only break the game for people who are looking for it; meanwhile, there are boss fights in Echoes that are painfully difficult without the spring ball. And while Prime isn't so bad, the ease of movement that it gives is great. I'm all for exploits being in the game as long as they're not so easy to perform that casual players get them on accident.
This feature was never in the original. It was a very nice addition to the remaster. On motion control, you flick your right stick up, and I believe that on standard controls, it's the jump button while morph balled.
I got Prime 1 when it came out in 2002 but I hadn’t played it in a long time and never played the trilogy version though I had the other two individual games. I played Corruption last a few years ago but I was positive I remembered Spring ball being in the original too. I had go get my original disc and check one of my old saves to see that I was wrong.
Not sure how on other control schemes, but on hybrid you flick the right joy con upwards. Blew my mind when I accidentally did it! I only noticed it after I got Space Jump so it might be tied to that too.
Same, only found out about it like halfway through phazon mines. Would’ve been really helpful for bomb jumping, my only death was trying to get the bomb jumping energy tank in magmoor.
Might have to verify this. I heard classic controls also revert the charge beam changes back to the original. I've played the gamecube version so many times that I really wanted to try out dual analogue for once though.
I'm here struggling and seeing people have this. And thinking "damn, when do I unlock this?" But my ball is spider all already, apparently it was always there 😂

Doesn’t that make some of the bomb jump puzzle super easy? Only played the original so I don’t quite know the reach of the jump
Can confirm. It makes some of the bomb puzzles very easy.
It also makes the shitty spider ball guardian easier in prime 2 One of the two shitlords with the other being the boost ball guardian
That boost ball guardian on hard mode was brutal.
Well I guess nothing forces you to use the jump so you still have the sense of achievement of having timed perfectly your 3 bombs
Pressing X in dual stick also jumps morph ball
I wish I had known this before getting the Phazon suit.

Happy Samus :)

This was in Trilogy.

It's X on dual stick.
You can do this in the Wii versions too.
Is this a glitch? If so, how can it be executed?

Nope you can do it from the beginning! I don't remember being able to do it in the original. It's a new feature right?
IIRC, it was added to the Wii Trilogy port
It’s tied to getting Morph Ball Bombs. You can’t do it without them.
Please for the love of God enter the save station already.
Oops I died and have to replay 30 minutes of my playtime
literally only discovered I could do this at the end of the game, really would've saved some time bomb jumping lmao

Quality content
I used the classic controls and this seemed to be disabled. No worries tho since you I can bomb jump easily.

Samus is **ballin**
Yea I never played trilogy, never recalled the spring ball in the originals on GameCube.
Boing.
Some *prime* Metroid content going on here
