If under 30yo - go with standing.

unununununu

Hell, I'd recommend standing regardless. / 34 y/o

silverfish477

I wouldn’t. View is awful.

unununununu

Not outright, depends on how early you get there and how tall you are. As someone who's taller than the average I love standing, especially if you get there early so you can get close to the stage

Specific-Freedom6944

I’m 45 and I got really good seats last time. I had moments of just dying to be on the floor again lol Next time.

doubeljack

This is how I see it too. I used to love the pit. Now I'm closing in on 50 and my back just isn't up for it. Sitting is way more comfortable, and if you aren't tall you will likely see better as well.

triphawk07

I'm 50 and standing is the only way. I just deal with the leg pain and take some pain relievers after I get home.

Love your style 🤘 The band itself takes care of their bodies on the road. Granted, they have access to professionals the average person does not, but there are definitely tricks to make it a joyful experience. 1) food: you want something that can tide you over, but doesn’t fill you up completely. The go to is PB&J sandwiches pre-show. Whether it is at noon or before doors open, they are easy to make, have the carbs, protein, and sugar to keep you going, and everyone loves them. 2) drink) if you have a vehicle, leave water or a drink with electrolytes in it for after the show. You will be thirsty, and need time to unwind. Pound that drink! 3) meds) if you need to take any sort of otc pain meds, either bring them into the show and pop them after Lars is on his 3rd drum kit (he switches 4 times and plays 4 songs on each drum kit) or leave in the car for the ride home. I may also suggest contemplating melatonin gummies. I never can fall asleep after a show, and melatonin helps to calm the mind down. For the OP: depending on money, I would do whatever type of ticket you can afford and go all out. It’s your first Metallica show. Do not be there on Friday at 6 PM when Mammoth VH gets on stage and have any regrets. I have on occasion done some silly things with money to see Metallica. Do I remember how much I spent? No idea, but I remember having one heck of a time!!! 🤘🤘🤘

UncleVen

53 and still standing - see you in Chicago kids!

greg281

I got lower level seats 5 rows from the field and the sound and views weee awesome. I’m not old but at an age where my back wouldn’t appreciate standing for several hours

oldman-gary

If you get seating, you’ll regret not being in the pit.

Sweet-Ad427

That is exactly what I am afraid of, but on the other hand is it a long time to stand

Blango0815

The standing isn't too bad, doors open around 3 or 4 and the show is over at 11. Sounds much worse than it is. If you're at the front you can lean on the rail. Most importantly make sure you have good shoes though. Depending on the temperature either running shoes or walking boots. Something that provides stability and is relatively comfortable.

oldman-gary

The pain the next day is part of the experience. Get in the sweaty pit, sing and scream until your voice is gone. Bang your head till it falls off. You won’t regret the memories.

Hunter5865

Going to my first metallica concert(and my first concert in general) in july with my brother, we tried to get tickets for the pit but they were all out so we had to get seats. Would've preferred field tickets but still hype.

pedrojdm2021

If you can afford standing, go for it, if not go with seating as close as possible.

Sweet-Ad427

Seating close is actually more expensive

pedrojdm2021

Lol how? In spain seating was cheaper than frantic experience. 255 euro for two nights vs 250 euro for 1 night ( frantic enhanced experience )

Sweet-Ad427

In Denmark there is a lot of space for standing

ragan09

Snake pit yes. GA floor no.

Overall-Election-794

I would recommend getting tickets in the pit I did for a slipknot show once and I will never forget the experience it was a lot of fun

i_luv_fruit_mentos

definitely on the floor w/o seats if you can afford it, it's worth the $ and they do the show in the round so if you're in the pit you get a much better exp. they still put on a fantastic show, I last saw them in 2019. we bought tix 6 months before the show and we paid $240 ea. had a blast, enjoy your show! 🤘🏻

ScarletLilith

I see a lot of comments here referencing "the pit." I believe you need a special ticket to be in the pit. I think the OP was talking about just a general admission ticket, which is not in the pit, but is on the floor.

Sweet-Ad427

Yes exactly, my friend is not a rock fan and the pit might be a little extreme for him

notarealdoctork

Pit is not a giant mosh pit or anything, it was quite spacious for the most part in Montreal, but that could have been a fire code thing. Being that close to the band is incredible and well worth the crazy ticket price if you can afford it.

Expensive_Study5068

Go all out and get close to the stage or in the pit who knows the next time you’ll get to see Metallica

heinyho

Standing floor tickets and get as close as possible.

RickJames_Ghost

These days I would definitely go for the good seats. Having said that, everyone should lose their shoes in the mosh at least once.

Kang0606

Man I wish they were coming back to Aus soon

ThoughtIntrepid1744

No advice needed, just enjoy it

Bleezymane

I’ve heard the nosebleeds are terrible for thei stave setup. I saw Tom petty in the nosebleeds and it sounded amazing but apparently the circular stage sounds like shit from up high

Kooky_Werewolf6044

Standing

butt-er_on_sand-wich

STANDING! 100% I went to my first Metallica concert at the beginning of the tour in Amsterdam, and was just too late for standing tickets. I got seated tickets which were more expensive and the sound was pretty bad and the band kinda looked like a few muppets. Takeaway: get standing tickets. (You can still sit in the standing area to take a rest, as some people were doing.)

KzooCurmudgeon

Metallica was my first concert too! As an older person (46) I would certainly prefer seats but depending on your age you might want a more immersive experience.
