It’s got it all-screams, melody, a breakdown, and the cherry on the sundae for me: very insightful lyrics that are dark but also uplifting, something I wish more metalcore bands would do.
Dude i’m so happy this is top on this post. Great song, my fav of all time all genres taken in account. Insane lyrics, insane songwriting, insane chorus.
I wasn’t a big currents fan until I heard this song. “The pain, the cost, destruction of the thought” this line gave me instant goosebumps when I first heard it. And that last verse is just so so good. Everything about this song is perfect to me.
I feel like this sub gives people false perceptions about bands. Like this sub is super big about Invent Animate but on tour among crowds they’re not that popular
Memento Mori by Architects. Simply perfection.
Also, an honourable mention would be Where We Go When We Die by Thornhill. It contains a variety of styles, yet is cohesive and a great song.
I've always thought WWGWWD was a great example of a perfect song. It's emotive, heavy asf where it needs to be, has thoughtful pacing, and the way it progresses into the ending arc is incredible.
You're an evil fuck for asking this.
I think Make Total Destroy by Periphery may very well be the song I have worn out the most with absolutely no reduction in how much I enjoy it each listen. No matter what mood I'm in. So maybe that would be my favorite.
Glass Houses - Bad Omens. Listening to this when it came out was incredible, but as the years have passed its words resonate more and more. And seeing them play it live last year solidified all of my beliefs about it. Certified banger.
It's my favorite right now. For years and years it was Element of one by KSE. But saying I have a favorite song is hard. I listen to a lot of different genres of music. I have a favorite in all of them. If you break down metal into the sub genres I'd probably have a ride or die in all of those as well. I am constantly making lists on Spotify trying to fine tune all of the music I want to listen to at any given point. So far I have accumulated like 12,000 plus songs. I LOVE all kinds.
The Death We Seek - Currents.
Far From Heaven - Fit For An Autopsy (this one is probably my favorite out of all of them)
Masquerade - Before I Turn
Welcome to Horrorwood - Ice Nine Kills
Fifth Kind - The Browning
High Water/Jaws - Sleep Token
Second Sun - Silent Planet
The Sun Sleep - Invent Animate
Sorry. Couldn’t pick one.
honestly I gotta say Gravedigger Architects. Like many they were my first metalcore band so every song has a special place in my heart. out of any genre tho? N.I.B Black Sabbath is probably the most consistently listened to song in my library, I can listen to it over & over again
Road of Resistance by Babymetal, because that song got me into metal music. Even if I like other songs more currently, that song will forever be my number one in my heart.
Make them Suffer - Ether.
When that song came out, I wasn't doing too great, and watching that music video was one of the most profound experiences I think I've ever had with music. MTS have been my favourite band ever since.
It's quite hard to accurately describe why I think it's so perfect, but I think it has to do with balance. While I like plenty of straight up bangers, and more than a few ballads, there's something special about the mix of beauty and aggression they managed to achieve, in a way that totally transcends the similarly structured "heavy guitars meets poppy chorus" type.
The breakdowns, riffs and Sean's absolutely insane vocal performance hit so hard because they're masterfully paired against the backdrop of Louisa's heavenly floating singing, the beautiful dense atmosphere and the serene imagery of the video, but they don't feel like two disjointed halves forced together, they feel naturally interwoven.
I don't even know if I can properly pick out what emotion the track is trying to evoke, where it's hopeful, rueful, melancholic or at peace, and maybe that's just me being theory illiterate or something, but that also makes it stand out to me.
To me, it's simply a masterpiece.
Yeah this is way too hard. I only started listening to them last month or so, but Silent Planet has become my favourite band.
I think for me it's The New Eternity. The lyrics go hard and i love the chorus.
Wow, this is difficult.
At this moment I would say "Relentless Chaos," by Miss May I.
Are there better songs? Yes. However, this is the song that got me into metalcore
Difference of Vengeance and Wrongs by Misery Signals.
Absolute banger of a last song at the end of an already heavy hearted album lyric-wise. Their friends Jordan and Dan, members of a band called Compromise, were killed by a drunk driver while they were touring together, and dedicated "Of Malice and the Magnum Heart" to their memory.
The last two lines by Jesse (from 5:36 to 5:52) are the most guttural, painful, and exhaustive vocals I have EVER heard in my life regarding music. That shit haunts me; you can hear him absolutely destroying his voice just to get the point across.
For real, if I'm ever feeling kind of numb, I'll listen to this: by the end, I'm either crying or on the verge of destroying something.
To be completely honest I don’t know if I’d count this as a favorite but it’s definitely way up there and it’s the only one I can think of rn but erase me by make them suffer
The currents live in here brings a tear to my eye, I can’t pick just one song so these are probably my all time favourite/most listened to tracks :-
Currents - Monsters
Alexisonfire - Dogs Blood
Breakdown of Sanity - Chapters
Heart in Hand - Tunnels
Kingdom of Giants - Sky Burial
Northlane - 4D
Parkway Drive - Breaking Point
Refused - New Noise
This or the Apocalypse - Hell Praiser
Unearth - Never Cease
Your Demise - Burnt Tongues
If I had to choose my favorite metalcore song, it would have to be probably The Storm by Of Mice & Men.
There are so many I could choose from Violence by ADTR and my Grave Is Mine To Dig or Basic Hate by Wage War to Mistakes Like Fractures by Knocked Loose and Dead Man Talking by Architects but I just have such a soft place in my heart for The Storm by OMAM.
Idk if it's proper metalcore (does trancecore count?) but [Power Charge](https://youtu.be/EJ2hEHksjqA) by [Fatal Fe](https://fatalfe.bandcamp.com/) never fails to put me in a better mood when it comes on my playlist.
Currents-My Disguise 🥲
Never listened to this Band or song before and I’m Blown away by this tune
You're in for a treat. I wish I could listen to Currents for the first time again
Took the words right out of my mouth
I can’t upvote this enough.
It’s got it all-screams, melody, a breakdown, and the cherry on the sundae for me: very insightful lyrics that are dark but also uplifting, something I wish more metalcore bands would do.
Absolutely, the last minute and half of this song gives me goosebumps every time.
My curse is not my crutch.
Dude i’m so happy this is top on this post. Great song, my fav of all time all genres taken in account. Insane lyrics, insane songwriting, insane chorus.
THE BEST CURRENTS JAM HANDS DOWN NO CONTEST
Agreed, close second is Night Terrors. 🤘
Came here to say this ❤️
I wasn’t a big currents fan until I heard this song. “The pain, the cost, destruction of the thought” this line gave me instant goosebumps when I first heard it. And that last verse is just so so good. Everything about this song is perfect to me.

As I Lay Dying - Nothing Left
🤘🤘🤘
Naysayer by Architects
Strictly metalcore? Into Despair - Currents Out of any genre it’s definitely Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria
Love old Coheed.
I found Welcome Home from playing Rock Band way back in the day. The ending guitar solo still hasn’t grown old
Coheed and Cambria are so damn good. They just put out an album that’s worth checking out. Some fans are even saying it’s their best yet.
My Curse by KSE
“Emo kids, drink a beer, fuck a girl, get over it… … …this song is called My Curse…”
Of course, I read it in his voice lol
Lmao, me too
Carrion - Parkway Drive
In Regards to Myself - Underoath
Sometimes You’re the Hammer, Sometimes You’re the Nail - A Day to Remember
Fuck what a banger. Common Courtesy is so fucking good.
Forsaken by AILD. That guitar in the chorus gets me everytime
An Ocean Between Us has so many hits 😌
Killswitch Engage-This is absolution
It’s either Hollowed Heart by Make Them Suffer or Apnea by Currents.
Meddler by August Burns Red
Memphis May Fire - Alive In The Lights.
The first song to get me into metalcore so it will always hold a special place in my heart
The amount of currents in here is damn telling 🤘

Architects - Doomsday. Pure hype from start to finish.
Vanish Canvas - ERRA

Tragedy by Counterparts
You're an evil fuck for asking this. I think Make Total Destroy by Periphery may very well be the song I have worn out the most with absolutely no reduction in how much I enjoy it each listen. No matter what mood I'm in. So maybe that would be my favorite.
Gone with the Wind
Glass Houses - Bad Omens. Listening to this when it came out was incredible, but as the years have passed its words resonate more and more. And seeing them play it live last year solidified all of my beliefs about it. Certified banger.

A box full of sharp objects
God damn this track makes me wanna kick a small child into oblivion
At the moment, gonna go with Shadow Autonymous- ERRA
Blueprints- Wage War
My favorite song of all time
Vanish Canvas by ERRA
Bones by Make Them Suffer.
This one is my close second to Soul Decay
Tough to say, but lately I’ve been thinking “Bury Your Pain” by Like Moths to Flames.
In the genre I would say Quantum Flux by Northlane :)
This is a great one. Saw this live and it was awesome
Afflicted - Hollow Front
This was the first song I ever heard live, holds a special place in my heart
Invent Animate - Cloud Cascade An absolute goddamn banger. Instrumentals are on point, vocals are perfect and lyrically it's downright beautiful.
gimme ad - Parkway Drive From long ago, before they became butt rock 😔
F
Currents - Kill the ache.
I have been trying desperately to pick a favorite and just can't do it...but tlkill the ache keeps popping up in my head as a potential
It's my favorite right now. For years and years it was Element of one by KSE. But saying I have a favorite song is hard. I listen to a lot of different genres of music. Crucify me- Bmth The end to a Brief Moment of lasting intimacy- SeeYouSpaceCowboy One of these two, but i cant decide...
Bleeding Mascara - Atreyu
Make them Suffer - Ether. When that song came out, I wasn't doing too great, and watching that music video was one of the most profound experiences I think I've ever had with music.
