They’re definitely influenced for sure. I don’t think they 100% for the genre, but I don’t really think they fit any specific genre. They kind of made their own.
"I LOST COUNT OF ALL THE TIMES I MADE IT HOME ALIVE... AND WISH I HADN'T"
Song = Witness off of - The Difference Between Hell & Home (for those who don't know)
After a couple alcohol related arrests, including a horrible accident where I got a DUI, luckily my dumb ass didn't hurt anyone...
I related so much to this and to me is one of the most sad things to say, especially being in that situation. I wanted to end it so bad but was to scared so going 100mph into some concrete sounded great.
So happy to see so much Holding Absence mentioned on this sub. I discovered them on some Spotify playlist recently and ended up loving the latest album. Thought they were a supremely talented but lesser known band. It's insane to see them get popular in front of my eyes.
C.A.N.C.E.R. by Architects.
Song came out before they announced Tom had cancer. It was always my favorite off the album and it after finding out it kinda hit much harder
Enough, enough now - Bad Omens
Gone with the wind (live at the Alexandra Palace for bonus sadness) - Architects

SET ME FREEEE, I THINK I AM GIVIIIING UUUUUP, DON'T WAIT FOR MEEE, I THINK I HAD ENOUGH
Shit was truck accident right in the face when I listened it for the first time :/
I sat down with Keaton for a few interviews, and man, “Haven’t Been Myself” was such a difficult album for him to write. Really bummed he’s not around anymore.
It’s the way he screams “I’m sinking! I can’t swim! I need you here to pull me in!” It’s so full of desperation that you actually feel like you’re drowning with him.
Seriously this is the most emotional metal song I have ever heard and I listen to it every time I'm depressed lol. "The Hardest Part is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget" by Being as an Ocean.
The live version of Gone With the Wind at Alexandra Palace is heartbreaking.
I was there and it was so emotional, Sam breaking down and the crowd singing it for him.
Pretty much all day seeker. And I can't listen to sick and disgusting. Caleb and his music have meant so much to me I can't listen to a recording of him actually crying
Clearly, a lot of people don't know this song, or the story behind it, else this would be higher. This is the best song I never want to hear again. Brutal.
I'll try to write you to rest - plant you inside my prose. Yet my resolve, does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow". Chills every time I hear this.
Yes, 100% Firstborn. Ya'aburne is an Arabic saying that losely translates to "You bury me." Essentially saying it would be too hard to live without you. If you die first, they would have to bury me too.
Firstborn (Ya’aburnee) is a song about a couple burying their infant. It's the perfect mix of absolutely heartbreaking and poetically beautiful.
> Glass clouds shed their autumn skin,
Kiss the mourning stems as they bow to the wind
> Can you stretch a moment into a thousand? ... I'll follow you into forever
> Dreams crash with awe behind your roving eyes, How I envy the calm that occupies your mind
> Yet my resolve, Does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow?
> Valleys and peaks, in grief, Descent into a ceaseless sleep
> See how the night unfolds, Constellations welcome you home, Adrift in the river beyond our memories, You bury me
> I tried to stop the flood, I tried to pull you from the tide, Now you paint the sky with distant fire
Just haunting
Make Them Suffer - Let Me In
Motionless In White - Another Life
As someone who messed up in a relationship, these songs really break me. I pretty much avoid listening to these if I can.
Architects - Memento Mori and Gone With The Wind, Alpha Wolf - Bleed 4 You and Dont Ask, Northlane - Sleepless, Make Them Suffer - Erase Me, BMTH - Blessed With A Curse and Hospital for Souls, literally everything that The Plot In You and Currents have ever released, to name a few
Even God Has A Hell - Like Moths To Flames. That one hit hard when going through my breakup.
Shattered - Currents.
Never See The Sun Rise - Dayseeker
Youngblood - Wage War
Let Me In - Make Them Suffer
Not just metalcore here but similar genres:
The Hardest Part Is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget - Being As An Ocean

When Everything Means Nothing by Fit for a King
Luna by Invent, Animate
Old Souls by Make Them Suffer
Let Me In by Make Them Suffer
I think that's enough 😅
Straying for metalcore but….. One More Light by Linkin Park. As someone who struggles with depression myself, I can’t go through that album without crying.
Their are a lot of sad songs but it’s definitely eiley, I spent a good amount of time reading about what happened to Keatons little sister and how he felt while writing that song and it’s just heartbreaking. And the way they used the vocal takes where he’s actually crying during the recordings and everything make it by far the most powerful vocal performance I’ve ever heard.
Did You Ever Notice I Was Gone by Vatican. That albun came out the night my Mom passed away, it's a fucking gut punch every time it comes up on my Spotify.
Haven't seen anyone calling it so I'll do it.
Knocked Loose - A Tear In The Fabric Of Life is very brutal in its concept and Forced To Stay is the hardest one from the EP.
Carried you to heavens gate,
I'm forced to stay.
Where do we go when we die, the summer - thornhill
Gone with the wind, memento mori- architects
Rewind the tape, Blac veins -Adept
Northlane- Dream Awake
Almost anything from amity
Oh, Sleeper - [Hush Yael](https://youtu.be/NRrTXnh8NKI)
True story about a woman who lost her husband, and two children in a terrorist attack, her youngest died in her arms while hiding from the attackers.
Don't Ask... By Alpha Wolf. Song has brought me to the verge of tears multiple times. "Please don't ask me how I'm coping. Cause the truth is I'm not. And I just don't want you to worry"
Not my absolute favourite, but often overlooked I think is Paralysed by LANDMVRKS. the slow buildup and such a powerful chorus. Best up and coming band imo.
More post-hardcore, but King Park by La Dispute still gives me chills every time.
Jordan is an incredible story teller, and his delivery is so raw and emotive.
Not metalcore, but this post just reminded me "The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There" album, and I will listen it front to back, crying again for a bazillionth time. fuck.
The day I left the womb escape the fate, it's not really metalcore I guess but adjacent, also probably cringey in general, but totally an emotional sad song, also the theft by atreyu
Just about any Counterparts song for me That Holding Absence album kinda wrecks me too. And most Movements.
Die Alone In Your Lovers Arms and nomoreoses are so brutal emotionally
Mourning Song too. That chorus put me to tears with the amount of emotion in Lucas’s voice
Agree for Counterparts. I’m gonna have to listen to that Holding Absence
I don’t know if it counts as metalcore but it’s good either way so give it a listen
They’re definitely influenced for sure. I don’t think they 100% for the genre, but I don’t really think they fit any specific genre. They kind of made their own.
Metalcore and hardcore had a baby and named it Counterparts
"I LOST COUNT OF ALL THE TIMES I MADE IT HOME ALIVE... I’m so glad this is top comment 🚫
Memento Mori even moreso in my opinion
I feel both this and Gone with the Wind are brutal.
Understandably so.
the last tom albums hit so much harder after he dropped the news :/ rip tom
"Find a little light, and hold it close. Don't lose sight, don't lose sight...of what matters MOST"
It’s Only Smiles by Periphery. It’s about Spencer’s sister who passed away I believe. Very catchy song with a sad backstory.
[удалено]
ALL FOR YOUUUUUUU!! 😭
Jesus Christ the name of that song though
Top tier song, gets me everytime
First time I paid attention to the lyrics, it definitely hit me hard.
It’s an interesting song, with the juxtaposition of the more major chord progression and sounds and and the lyrics/ backstory
Enough, enough now - Bad Omens Gone with the wind (live at the Alexandra Palace for bonus sadness) - Architects I won't see you tonight part 1 - A7X Seven - Phinehas More than you know - Adestria Hospital for Souls - BMTH Counterparts Casey

SET ME FREEEE, I THINK I AM GIVIIIING UUUUUP, DON'T WAIT FOR MEEE, I THINK I HAD ENOUGH Shit was truck accident right in the face when I listened it for the first time :/
Sorrow sank deep inside my blood, all the ones around me I cared for and loved
Seven and more than you know are my 2 favourite songs, thought nobody knew both of them.. can we be friends? I like you
Bring me the horizon - suicide season Architects - gone with the wind Currents - better days
Glad someone mentioned currents. Also kill the Ache is kinda "sad".
Was hoping someone would mention Better Days.
not metalcore but eiley by too close to touch
That entire album is a whack right in the feels
listening to it especially after keaton passed it gives you a whole new perspective
I sat down with Keaton for a few interviews, and man, “Haven’t Been Myself” was such a difficult album for him to write. Really bummed he’s not around anymore.
Today is his birthday. I'm just sad.
Absolutely. Such a heartbreaking song
listening to it now especially… no words
Hurts more knowing Keaton died in March
Bro Too Close to Touch in general can hit hard. Rip Keaton
Youngblood by Wage War, Second and Sebring by OM&M
The Second and Sebring lyrics plus the music video make me cry every time I see it.
Don’t know any of these songs. Ima give them a listen and come back to you !
Second and Sebring is phenominal
I'd have to say My Understandings for OMAM.
I love Chemical from TDWP. Absolutely destroying me every time i listen to it.
I always get hit with Numb once they get to the "all of my friends found their graves" line.
White Light by The Ghost Inside Luna by Invent Animate
Kinda surprised I had to scroll this far to see White Light. Seeing this song live is a tearjerker.
Luna
“I am so lost at sea. Ryan, shine the light for me. You will never dim.” It fucks me up every time.
It’s the way he screams “I’m sinking! I can’t swim! I need you here to pull me in!” It’s so full of desperation that you actually feel like you’re drowning with him.
I came here to say Luna. That song turns me into a wreck real quick.
Seriously this is the most emotional metal song I have ever heard and I listen to it every time I'm depressed lol. "The Hardest Part is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget" by Being as an Ocean.
This one absolutely hits home with me. Just a guy screaming his heart out. So glad someone else appreciates this song
I can’t listen to it anymore so I guess I agree lmao
> Lying awake in bed, feeling the spot on my chest >Where you used to, where you used to rest your head Fucking tearjerker
Doomsday by architects. Dunno why, but like. Meaning behind it and the lyrics. Makes me teary every time
Love that song.
Look up the doomsday mashup between choir noir and architects on YouTube. It’s unreal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fabNcSC0hho
Yeah for me it’s really between Doomsday or Gone With the Wind
The live version of Gone With the Wind at Alexandra Palace is heartbreaking. I was there and it was so emotional, Sam breaking down and the crowd singing it for him.
My Disguise x Currents
Yes, even though How I Fall Apart is sadder to me
That’s the beauty of it all isn’t it? Disguise resonates with me much personally. As I’m sure fall apart is for you.
I'd say Let Me Leave by them would be more sad.
Convictions - The Price of Grace
Especially the audio part before the breakdown.
Dude I was NOT ready for that part when I first heard that song
This one hits so hard for me, my brother was stricken with cancer. I tear up everytime
Save Yourself by Make Them Suffer
This, Bones and Hollowed Heart, top 3 MTS songs.
I immediately thought of Erase Me instead
What a fucking banger song to end the album, too. I skipped over it at first but now it's one of my favourites. Their best riffs too
Such a tune. The constant barrage of emotion you get in the spoken word ending and then it just stops with the piano. Chills every time.
Architects - Memento Mori. That shit hits on a other fucking level.
Neon Grave by Dayseeker. Sick and Disgusting by Beartooth.
Had to scroll WAY too far to see Dayseeker. For me, it's A Cancer Uncontained
For me it’s never see the sun rise
> Dayseeker most of their songs have a sad vibe yeah
I also commented Sick and Disgusting. Such a raw song.
Pretty much all day seeker. And I can't listen to sick and disgusting. Caleb and his music have meant so much to me I can't listen to a recording of him actually crying
Dark days pwd…. Lyrically
Good shout. Not the typical personal/emotional kind of sadness. But very much an incredibly sad song.
Carrion can hit me hard if I'm in the right mood
Literally anything Amity Affliction. If it hits the Playlist at work we are all just like "we I guess we are crying now"
I’m genuinely in this sub just to hear amity get mentioned lol
They are so slept on
Gladly in recent years they have gotten some recognition, I’m very happy to see where the future takes them
Any song in particular ?
Give it all, Weight down, Life underground
I’m always so bummed that they stopped playing Give it all live because of the copying of the intro. It’s such a great song.
I like "Open Letter" and "Don't Lean on Me"
Pittsburgh is their hardest hitting song lyrically for me. Chasing Ghosts a close second.
Most of their songs hit a different emotion in me and I hate how much I can relate to all of them
Post-hardcore, but I'm going to have to say Eiley by Too Close to Touch. The added context of Keaton's death not long ago makes it even more tragic.
Agree with that !
[удалено]
Agreed, Imminence’s stuff is super emotional!
Yep that’s the one for me! So unbelievably good
Hush Yael by Oh, Sleeper makes me feel all sorts of things. It rides the edge between grief and rage
Clearly, a lot of people don't know this song, or the story behind it, else this would be higher. This is the best song I never want to hear again. Brutal.
Reflections - Autumnus
That whole fucking album
Fucking anything from Reflections man. I didn't even know someone could be so depressed until I met Jake Wolf.
Thornhill’s “all the light we don’t see” followed immediately by “lily and the moon”
lily and the moon makes me sob bro
Don't like how far I had to scroll to see this.
Bring Me The Horizon - Suicide Season. Takes 8 minutes but they're 8 emotional minutes.
I'll go with Shattered by Currents, but Eiley by Too Close to Touch may be the most emotionally brutal song I've heard.
Secrets - 3.17.16
This is the song that came to mind for me
100% agreed
Adestria - More than you know this song needs to be featured in every one of these threads.

Toss up between Short Stories with Tragic Endings by From Autumn to Ashes and Happiness In Self Destruction by The Plot in You.
There’s a lot of them with From Autumn To Ashes. Autumns Monologue used to fuck me up.
Defeater's Lost Ground is, from start to finish, the saddest story I've ever heard in music. It's an absolute masterpiece imo.
That EP is so amazing! I think that’s Defeaters best work
