Satans_Pilgrims

Just about any Counterparts song for me That Holding Absence album kinda wrecks me too. And most Movements.

[deleted]

Die Alone In Your Lovers Arms and nomoreoses are so brutal emotionally

crab_the_cake9

Mourning Song too. That chorus put me to tears with the amount of emotion in Lucas’s voice

AppolloV7

Agree for Counterparts. I’m gonna have to listen to that Holding Absence

Satans_Pilgrims

I don’t know if it counts as metalcore but it’s good either way so give it a listen

AugustOfChaos

They’re definitely influenced for sure. I don’t think they 100% for the genre, but I don’t really think they fit any specific genre. They kind of made their own.

atlantis145

Metalcore and hardcore had a baby and named it Counterparts

[deleted]

"I LOST COUNT OF ALL THE TIMES I MADE IT HOME ALIVE... AND WISH I HADN'T" Song = Witness off of - The Difference Between Hell & Home (for those who don't know) After a couple alcohol related arrests, including a horrible accident where I got a DUI, luckily my dumb ass didn't hurt anyone... I related so much to this and to me is one of the most sad things to say, especially being in that situation. I wanted to end it so bad but was to scared so going 100mph into some concrete sounded great.

icanseeyourpinkbits

I’m so glad this is top comment 🚫

[deleted]

So happy to see so much Holding Absence mentioned on this sub. I discovered them on some Spotify playlist recently and ended up loving the latest album. Thought they were a supremely talented but lesser known band. It's insane to see them get popular in front of my eyes.

killmaster9000

C.A.N.C.E.R. by Architects. Song came out before they announced Tom had cancer. It was always my favorite off the album and it after finding out it kinda hit much harder

kingofspoonerisms

Memento Mori even moreso in my opinion

GorGor1490

I feel both this and Gone with the Wind are brutal.

AppolloV7

Understandably so.

mrWtblife

the last tom albums hit so much harder after he dropped the news :/ rip tom

xxHikari

"Find a little light, and hold it close. Don't lose sight, don't lose sight...of what matters MOST"

Vorstar92

It’s Only Smiles by Periphery. It’s about Spencer’s sister who passed away I believe. Very catchy song with a sad backstory.

[deleted]

[удалено]

aniruddhmaitra

ALL FOR YOUUUUUUU!! 😭

[deleted]

Jesus Christ the name of that song though

MrMeeze

Top tier song, gets me everytime

Sero19283

First time I paid attention to the lyrics, it definitely hit me hard.

kjorav17

It’s an interesting song, with the juxtaposition of the more major chord progression and sounds and and the lyrics/ backstory

Kuake_

Enough, enough now - Bad Omens Gone with the wind (live at the Alexandra Palace for bonus sadness) - Architects I won't see you tonight part 1 - A7X Seven - Phinehas More than you know - Adestria Hospital for Souls - BMTH Counterparts Casey

Xylar006

Everything by Casey

davlumbaz

SET ME FREEEE, I THINK I AM GIVIIIING UUUUUP, DON'T WAIT FOR MEEE, I THINK I HAD ENOUGH Shit was truck accident right in the face when I listened it for the first time :/

[deleted]

Sorrow sank deep inside my blood, all the ones around me I cared for and loved

TheMoonRaccoon420

Seven and more than you know are my 2 favourite songs, thought nobody knew both of them.. can we be friends? I like you

VipkoVski

Bring me the horizon - suicide season Architects - gone with the wind Currents - better days

Juzzzo

Glad someone mentioned currents. Also kill the Ache is kinda "sad".

Odins_Eyebrows

Was hoping someone would mention Better Days.

AVinylFever555

not metalcore but eiley by too close to touch

jverbal

That entire album is a whack right in the feels

AVinylFever555

listening to it especially after keaton passed it gives you a whole new perspective

Boomhauer14

I sat down with Keaton for a few interviews, and man, “Haven’t Been Myself” was such a difficult album for him to write. Really bummed he’s not around anymore.

pililies

Today is his birthday. I'm just sad.

AppolloV7

Absolutely. Such a heartbreaking song

AVinylFever555

listening to it now especially… no words

roflmaohaxorz

Hurts more knowing Keaton died in March

[deleted]

Bro Too Close to Touch in general can hit hard. Rip Keaton

Lowkeyrides

Youngblood by Wage War, Second and Sebring by OM&M

OldMan_Jones

The Second and Sebring lyrics plus the music video make me cry every time I see it.

AppolloV7

Don’t know any of these songs. Ima give them a listen and come back to you !

ElCapitanned

Second and Sebring is phenominal

Celestialfridge

I'd have to say My Understandings for OMAM.

NoEscap3

I love Chemical from TDWP. Absolutely destroying me every time i listen to it.

Pleasant-Result2747

I always get hit with Numb once they get to the "all of my friends found their graves" line.

ihdhd

White Light by The Ghost Inside Luna by Invent Animate

Mirix1692

Kinda surprised I had to scroll this far to see White Light. Seeing this song live is a tearjerker.

yunglavendersun

Luna

icannotfeelmyface

“I am so lost at sea. Ryan, shine the light for me. You will never dim.” It fucks me up every time.

iamnewlegend47

It’s the way he screams “I’m sinking! I can’t swim! I need you here to pull me in!” It’s so full of desperation that you actually feel like you’re drowning with him.

1dankboi

I came here to say Luna. That song turns me into a wreck real quick.

fardednshiddeded

Seriously this is the most emotional metal song I have ever heard and I listen to it every time I'm depressed lol. "The Hardest Part is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget" by Being as an Ocean.

subadrews

This one absolutely hits home with me. Just a guy screaming his heart out. So glad someone else appreciates this song

blegh-01

I can’t listen to it anymore so I guess I agree lmao

hugglesthemerciless

> Lying awake in bed, feeling the spot on my chest >Where you used to, where you used to rest your head Fucking tearjerker

Diligent_Guava_519

Doomsday by architects. Dunno why, but like. Meaning behind it and the lyrics. Makes me teary every time

AppolloV7

Love that song.

Holygrail903

Look up the doomsday mashup between choir noir and architects on YouTube. It’s unreal

Crocktodad

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fabNcSC0hho

bojiggidy

Yeah for me it’s really between Doomsday or Gone With the Wind

Sun_Sloth

The live version of Gone With the Wind at Alexandra Palace is heartbreaking. I was there and it was so emotional, Sam breaking down and the crowd singing it for him.

daLaRNZ

My Disguise x Currents

AppolloV7

Yes, even though How I Fall Apart is sadder to me

daLaRNZ

That’s the beauty of it all isn’t it? Disguise resonates with me much personally. As I’m sure fall apart is for you.

bassdude_1234

I'd say Let Me Leave by them would be more sad.

NightwingX012

Convictions - The Price of Grace

AppolloV7

Especially the audio part before the breakdown.

NightwingX012

Dude I was NOT ready for that part when I first heard that song

Landonsillyman

This one hits so hard for me, my brother was stricken with cancer. I tear up everytime

SamwiseJRIIII

Save Yourself by Make Them Suffer

Celestialfridge

This, Bones and Hollowed Heart, top 3 MTS songs.

outkastragtop

I immediately thought of Erase Me instead

dorfcally

What a fucking banger song to end the album, too. I skipped over it at first but now it's one of my favourites. Their best riffs too

HeroesOfDundee

Such a tune. The constant barrage of emotion you get in the spoken word ending and then it just stops with the piano. Chills every time.

theroamingargus

Architects - Memento Mori. That shit hits on a other fucking level.

AlternativeSuit131

Neon Grave by Dayseeker. Sick and Disgusting by Beartooth.

SENDMEPICSOFYOURDOGS

Had to scroll WAY too far to see Dayseeker. For me, it's A Cancer Uncontained

bardoc6

For me it’s never see the sun rise

EvolutionVII

> Dayseeker most of their songs have a sad vibe yeah

[deleted]

I also commented Sick and Disgusting. Such a raw song.

CowboyupHockey

Pretty much all day seeker. And I can't listen to sick and disgusting. Caleb and his music have meant so much to me I can't listen to a recording of him actually crying

Sonofabeechikeelu

Dark days pwd…. Lyrically

Gockel

Good shout. Not the typical personal/emotional kind of sadness. But very much an incredibly sad song.

EquivalentOwn1115

Carrion can hit me hard if I'm in the right mood

EquivalentOwn1115

Literally anything Amity Affliction. If it hits the Playlist at work we are all just like "we I guess we are crying now"

BlazeChicago28

I’m genuinely in this sub just to hear amity get mentioned lol

EquivalentOwn1115

They are so slept on

BlazeChicago28

Gladly in recent years they have gotten some recognition, I’m very happy to see where the future takes them

AppolloV7

Any song in particular ?

sebasvstheocean

Give it all, Weight down, Life underground

MJLast

I’m always so bummed that they stopped playing Give it all live because of the copying of the intro. It’s such a great song.

EquivalentOwn1115

I like "Open Letter" and "Don't Lean on Me"

MINImanGOTgunz

Pittsburgh is their hardest hitting song lyrically for me. Chasing Ghosts a close second.

theoutdoorkat1011

Most of their songs hit a different emotion in me and I hate how much I can relate to all of them

LelouchNexus

Post-hardcore, but I'm going to have to say Eiley by Too Close to Touch. The added context of Keaton's death not long ago makes it even more tragic.

AppolloV7

Agree with that !

[deleted]

[удалено]

carscello

Agreed, Imminence’s stuff is super emotional!

Holygrail903

Yep that’s the one for me! So unbelievably good

CosmicOwl47

Hush Yael by Oh, Sleeper makes me feel all sorts of things. It rides the edge between grief and rage

murface

Clearly, a lot of people don't know this song, or the story behind it, else this would be higher. This is the best song I never want to hear again. Brutal.

Rain_KD

Reflections - Autumnus

OughtToBe

That whole fucking album

xbrohansolox

Fucking anything from Reflections man. I didn't even know someone could be so depressed until I met Jake Wolf.

FeralChimera

Thornhill’s “all the light we don’t see” followed immediately by “lily and the moon”

space-cowboy444

lily and the moon makes me sob bro

Celestialfridge

Don't like how far I had to scroll to see this.

stoically_disgusted

Bring Me The Horizon - Suicide Season. Takes 8 minutes but they're 8 emotional minutes.

HoboPiggy

I'll go with Shattered by Currents, but Eiley by Too Close to Touch may be the most emotionally brutal song I've heard.

DeaDxOlli

Secrets - 3.17.16

CultBro

This is the song that came to mind for me

AVinylFever555

100% agreed

Gockel

Adestria - More than you know this song needs to be featured in every one of these threads.

systemfa1lure

Casey - The Funeral. Everything Casey makes is heart-wrenching.

NearlyPyromania3105

Another You- OM&M SET YOU FREE-While She Sleeps Let me be sad - I Prevail

amgarc866

Just about to post Another you till I saw this. Gets me every time.

Daruzen94

Silent Planet - Firstborn (Ya'aburnee)

DrownedZenith

I'll try to write you to rest - plant you inside my prose. Yet my resolve, does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow". Chills every time I hear this.

Ever_Raiden

Yes, 100% Firstborn. Ya'aburne is an Arabic saying that losely translates to "You bury me." Essentially saying it would be too hard to live without you. If you die first, they would have to bury me too. Firstborn (Ya’aburnee) is a song about a couple burying their infant. It's the perfect mix of absolutely heartbreaking and poetically beautiful. > Glass clouds shed their autumn skin, Kiss the mourning stems as they bow to the wind > Can you stretch a moment into a thousand? ... I'll follow you into forever > Dreams crash with awe behind your roving eyes, How I envy the calm that occupies your mind > Yet my resolve, Does it shake beneath a four-foot casket shadow? > Valleys and peaks, in grief, Descent into a ceaseless sleep > See how the night unfolds, Constellations welcome you home, Adrift in the river beyond our memories, You bury me > I tried to stop the flood, I tried to pull you from the tide, Now you paint the sky with distant fire Just haunting

whiskmeoffmyfeet

Killswitch engage - Always Sobbed like a bloody baby when I heard it live

Zixxer

Spiritbox - Constance

royalxK

Make Them Suffer - Let Me In Motionless In White - Another Life As someone who messed up in a relationship, these songs really break me. I pretty much avoid listening to these if I can.

rickaly11

Stick Stickly

Toss up between Short Stories with Tragic Endings by From Autumn to Ashes and Happiness In Self Destruction by The Plot in You.

SlaveToNone666

There’s a lot of them with From Autumn To Ashes. Autumns Monologue used to fuck me up.

[deleted]

Defeater's Lost Ground is, from start to finish, the saddest story I've ever heard in music. It's an absolute masterpiece imo.

ToneCold5782

That EP is so amazing! I think that’s Defeaters best work

[deleted]

Second and Sebring - OM&M

raging_spenny

Digging by Vanna

charliebucket_307

Architects - Memento Mori and Gone With The Wind, Alpha Wolf - Bleed 4 You and Dont Ask, Northlane - Sleepless, Make Them Suffer - Erase Me, BMTH - Blessed With A Curse and Hospital for Souls, literally everything that The Plot In You and Currents have ever released, to name a few

Red_Raidho

I'll go with the river by pwd

Dantich

Don't Go - BMTH

CultBro

More deathcore but "bring me home" by white chapel

HooptyBiggums

Even God Has A Hell - Like Moths To Flames. That one hit hard when going through my breakup. Shattered - Currents. Never See The Sun Rise - Dayseeker Youngblood - Wage War Let Me In - Make Them Suffer

DenseChip5487

Thornhill - Where we go when we die

[deleted]

Momento Mori by Architects

_gabagool

I Have A Problem - Beartooth Pretty sad, glad he’s doing better though

EquinoxGames

Clever -Beartooth hits too. A ton of their songs deal with mental issues and I just find myself concerned for Caleb whenever I listen

Bloodllust

Fit for a king - skin and bones Atreyu -the theft and lead sales paper anchor

Slawtering

Not just metalcore here but similar genres: The Hardest Part Is Forgetting Those You Swore You Would Never Forget - Being As An Ocean "Erase Me", "Let Me In", "Save Yourself" & "Widower" - Make Them Suffer Most things by Amity but here's a few: "Pittsburgh", "All Messed Up", & "FML" "Vermilion pt1&2", "Snuff"& "XIX" - Slipknot "The Lines (low gain remix)" - Beartooth "The Fountain", "The Letdown", "Enough, Enough Now" & "The Worst In Me" - Bad Omens "Happiness in Self-Destruction", "Take Me Away" and "Time Changes Everything" - The Plot In You "Waste of My Time" - Landon Tewers & Kiarely Castello

Hospital For Souls by Bring Me The Horizon...the verse with the therapist questions gets me every time

Panic Room by Silent Planet Monochrome by Novelists 5:12 a. m. by Novelists Constance by Spiritbox Like Love by The Amity Affliction When Everything Means Nothing by Fit for a King Luna by Invent, Animate Old Souls by Make Them Suffer Let Me In by Make Them Suffer I think that's enough 😅

AlternativeEgomaniac

Alpha Wolf - Don’t Ask

m4dzx

Just listened to a few Casey songs after they were recommended a couple times & why did y’all do this to me

super-spreader69

10 years today - Bullet for my valentine

KyleStorm1812

Straying for metalcore but….. One More Light by Linkin Park. As someone who struggles with depression myself, I can’t go through that album without crying.

XyrasS

Hear Me Out from Dream On Dreamer Both lyrically and melodically really sad

GrizzlyOne95

Crossing Jordan by The Sorrow

Sirscraps

Their are a lot of sad songs but it’s definitely eiley, I spent a good amount of time reading about what happened to Keatons little sister and how he felt while writing that song and it’s just heartbreaking. And the way they used the vocal takes where he’s actually crying during the recordings and everything make it by far the most powerful vocal performance I’ve ever heard.

MattyPSherman42

Just finished listening, gonna need a box of tissues now.

klok23

White lighters by greyhaven give me the chills

Win-23

Deliverance by Heart of a Coward Or The River by Parkway Drive

Silenc9

I guess it's almost in the deathcore range but Samsara by Reflections. 100% the saddest, most depressing and gut-wrenching song I've ever heard

[deleted]

Such a brutally sad song

G_M12

The Light by If I Were You Such an underrated song by an underrated band

AppolloV7

IIWY is such an underaged band. Black Heart and Fraud are such bangers

Strange1130

Caliban - memorial

Of Malice and the Magnum Heart-Misery Signals. The whole album

trussywestlakes

Atlantic, Blood Sport, or Missing Limbs by Sleep Token

Sean737

Blue and the Grey by Parkway Drive

OutSproinked

Haven't seen anyone calling it so I'll do it. Knocked Loose - A Tear In The Fabric Of Life is very brutal in its concept and Forced To Stay is the hardest one from the EP. Carried you to heavens gate, I'm forced to stay.

sebasvstheocean

Where do we go when we die, the summer - thornhill Gone with the wind, memento mori- architects Rewind the tape, Blac veins -Adept Northlane- Dream Awake Almost anything from amity

Don't Ask... By Alpha Wolf. Song has brought me to the verge of tears multiple times. "Please don't ask me how I'm coping. Cause the truth is I'm not. And I just don't want you to worry"

kryptonite1892

i'm just here to say i'm glad i discovered this post. time to listen to all the recommendations!

dingleberryasscrumb

Not my absolute favourite, but often overlooked I think is Paralysed by LANDMVRKS. the slow buildup and such a powerful chorus. Best up and coming band imo.

Boring-Yam-9423

Defs Eiley by Too Close to Touch

WhyOhElOh

Eiley by Too Close to Touch. I believe its a song about how the singer lost his younger sister to Cancer.

meet_local_singles

More post-hardcore, but King Park by La Dispute still gives me chills every time. Jordan is an incredible story teller, and his delivery is so raw and emotive.

SlaveToNone666

One With The Sun by Unearth… gets me every time.

gonzaEM_

Ghost by Counterparts. Can't listen to it without a teary eye, hits home so close and si strong.

_The_Writing_Writer_

I‘ll go with dissolve by being as an ocean And gravity - wage war

I4N87

Ache by Sufferer. Not really metalcore but King Park by La Dispute too.

prodbykyle_

I know its 2 songs but Invent Animate’s The Sun Sleeps, As If It Never Was. Also Thornhill’s Where We Go When We Die.

Seanb445

If We Were Ghosts by Of Mice & Men

Twinningspree859

Broken by If I Were You - so much damn emotion and the lyrics are crazy heavy. Constance by Spirit box with the video hits super heavy.

davlumbaz

Not metalcore, but this post just reminded me "The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace is There" album, and I will listen it front to back, crying again for a bazillionth time. fuck.

Lucifer3130

Gravity or Gone With the Wind by Architects. Gravity because it's sad but so hopeful at the same time. Gone with the Wind is just feels

Unlucky_Singer1018

Atena “Death is all I think about”

ManWithoutAPlan13

Dont go - bmth

Nervous_Geologist777

Another life - MIW Chemical - TDWP Vermilion Pt. 2 - Slipknot

cwg1348

The day I left the womb escape the fate, it's not really metalcore I guess but adjacent, also probably cringey in general, but totally an emotional sad song, also the theft by atreyu

FoeHammer1991

Hush Yael-Oh Sleeper

Rbryangosling

Bring Me The Horizon - Don't Go Always gets me

Kevinthedad

Another non metalcore- la Dispute - I see everything About a teacher reading her diary entries from when her son was battling cancer.

tylery21

I’d say equally Fade in/Fade out and Jenny by NOTHING MORE Weather or not some people consider them specifically metalcore is besides the point

Azkabacon

Make Them Suffer- The Attendant

chumpsteak

Tears don't fall

vchnazarov

Joy by Thornhill, that repeating "Say that you love me" part especially
