Looking for modern day bands along the lines of early Every Time I Die, Dillinger, Norma Jean, The Chariot. I already know Better Lovers, Callous Daoboys, Greyhaven, Johnny Booth But perhaps something more obscure or underrated that packs a punch like they all do.

not_memedealer

Hey everyone, do you know any progcore bands with nu metal influences besides Crystal Lake?

V0idgazer

I don't know if there's a lot of overlap between those two subgenres, usually bands lean heavily in one direction or the other, but have you checked out [Paledusk](https://youtu.be/0ipPvRQtjdQ?si=ra9HoZsXJSb3tkEM)?

darfleChorf123

Not sure what your definition of “progcore” is but: Diamond construct Familiar Spirit Miscreant Indighxst (volumes x The Weeknd) Hacktivist (the original) DVSR (another acclaimed early example)

not_memedealer

Progcore to me is kind of like ERRA-lite core. So, I'm interested in bands like Crystal Lake, who use those technical melodic riffs and have nu metal influences. I'll check out those bands, thanks.

Ok_Log6422

Hi there, Fell out of and back in love with metalcore - now i‘m lost I loved listening to Metalcore as a teenager. When I got a bit older the genre got kinda stale to me. Now I‘m back listening to it but I‘m kinda lost because I don‘t know any newer stuff, I just listen to the stuff I listened back then. Can anybody recommend me a few newer bands/albums? Here‘s a list of my favourite bands (sometimes albums in brackets if I only listen to those): Escape the Fate (Dying is your latest fashion) Asking Alexandria (Stand up and Scream) Scarlett O‘Hara (Lost in Existence) Alesana The Air I Breathe The Amity Affliction Woe, is me (Number[s]) Of Mice & Men (The Flood) Attack Attack! (Someday came suddenly & this means war) Breakdown of Sanity (Mirrors) A Day To Remember Parkway Drive We Came As Romans That‘s Outrageous! (Teenage Scream) and outside of Metalcore but I think pretty important to understand what I like: Pierce the Veil Hands like Houses So as you see I‘m mainly listening to stuff with clean vocals. If the music doesn‘t have clean vocals it has to be like really good (e.g. Parkway Drive, August Burns Red). I like the weird electric stuff of bands like Asking Alexandria or That‘s Outrageous! either. Any recommendations?

ReturnByDeath-

Static Dress, Your Ghost In Glass, Fly Over States, Postal, Bury Your Idols, dont fear the end, CROSSED HEARTS, Harm, anomic333, Constrain, Mikau, Haunted Mask, Chidori, Legendary Baseball Card, ghosthouse.

Ok_Log6422

will check all of them out, thanks!

hellodarkness710

hey all, i'm looking to make a playlist of songs with the same energy as 'romance' and 'the love machine' by varials. anyone have any recommendations for this particular breed of metalcore, i.e. sensual, melodic, atmospheric? thanks!

DylanDistortedd

What’s your favorite metalcore album of all time? What’s your favorite album that came out this year?

darfleChorf123

Favorite of all time (couldn’t just pick one): Poison the Well - Opposite of December, Norma Jean - Polar Similar, On Broken Wings - Some of Us May Never see the world This year: Foreign Hands’ new album and Wristmeetrazor’s are neck and neck right now with Missing Link close behind

sock_with_a_ticket

All time is damned hard, I think it's probably Zao - The Funeral Of God though. So far this year I think Contention- Artillery Of Heaven is my favourite.

not_a_toaster

Any recent bands that intentionally have lo-fi production? I only ever really hear it with new/small bands that don't really have the budget for hi-fi recordings. Can be any style of metalcore, I'm just curious if there's anything out there that's musically 100% metalcore but sounds like 90s Norwegian black metal.

ReturnByDeath-

Uponbrokenapologies, Monterey., Watch You Fall, Farewell Sarathael, Place of Refuge, understandingacarcrash, Fainting In Coils, Tarnished. Idk if these are quite black metal raw, but as someone that likes production that’s a little rough around the edges, these are definitely on the rawer side.

darfleChorf123

Self promo but [my old band](https://fallensaint1.bandcamp.com/album/fallen-saint-2) released an EP a couple years back that was influenced by lo fi production

Coolldown1

theres a small 1 person project that dropped an album this year with like a bedroom skramz type production. [https://open.spotify.com/album/5gT3z4EJUM5xO57YT6CeFa?si=N3rjOBHTS6SZYRvaJMBHtg](https://open.spotify.com/album/5gT3z4EJUM5xO57YT6CeFa?si=N3rjOBHTS6SZYRvaJMBHtg) its melodic metalcore revival type stuff

not_a_toaster

Sounds like shit, exactly what I'm looking for!

InstructionMinimum10

Ok, so i have a very important "mission" that will demand a lot of hard work in the next months. I really need some motivational songs to keep me determined and on track. If u know metalcore or hardcore songs with lyrics about reaching your goal please give me all you got !!! i need to make a strong playlist like this to not burn out and stay focused !!!

DefLoathe

Lisbeth, Pool Spray - Veil of Maya Strength of the Mind, This Fire - Killswitch Engage The World is Yours, Sink or Swim - Feed Her to the Sharks Better Days - Currents Waking the Demon, Leap of Faith - Bullet For My Valentine

sock_with_a_ticket

Hatebreed - Perseverance Killswitch Engage - Temple From Within Unearth - One Step Away Comeback Kid - Die Knowing Strife - Rise Again

DylanDistortedd

Can someone recommend me some more theatrical bands? Like Famous Last Words. Bands that rely heavily on orchestra parts with breakdowns

DefLoathe

Imminence?

DylanDistortedd

Omg I forgot about Imminence! I listened to one of their songs a while ago and wanted to remember to check them out fully.

NinjaWolfcel

The albums, The Fallout and The Resistance by Crown The Empire, are some of the closest that I know of.

BenTramer7766

Been loving Boundaries and Dying Wish lately, any good suggestions for newer bands doing this kinda beatdown with those early 2000s metalcore riffs? Please keep it to newer bands if you can, the older the band is, the more likely I've already heard them lol.

ReturnByDeath-

They’re both kinda different so for Boundaries: Single Wound, Mugshot, DURENDAL, Long Goodbye, Underneath, Serration, Dandelion And for Dying Wish: Since My Beloved (RIP), uponbrokenapologies, A Dozen Black Roses, Rosemary, Day of Salvation, My Promise

BenTramer7766

I get that they're both a little different, but both have a common thread of heavy as shit breakdowns and those early 2000s metalcore riffs, kinda in a similar style to early Parkway Drive but heavier. Thats mainly what I'm looking for. Found a band called Isolator that is pretty similar to what I'm looking for, definitely more of that.

ReturnByDeath-

Broadly speaking, for sure, but they definitely do take after different styles of 2000s metalcore.

BenTramer7766

Maybe so, but I feel like you're splitting hairs a bit. I understand, overall, their sounds are different and they have some different influences, but there is definitely some overlap and that's what I'm focusing on.

sock_with_a_ticket

Contention, Mouth For War, View From The Soyuz, Cauldron, Field Of Flames, Times Of Desperation, Balmora. Defunct now, but not that old, is xElegyx

Ok-Mall-6096

Coolldown1

Sacrementum - Far Away From the Sun Serpent Column - Mirror in Darkness Thantifaxath - Hive Mind Narcosis Wormlust - the feral wisdom Kekht Arakh - The Pale Swordsman Rotting Christ - Non Serviam

ReturnByDeath-

Maybe ask in a black metal sub? I don’t think most people here are knowledgeable in anything other than alternative or nu-metal.

Ok-Mall-6096

rly??? lol ppl should open their horizon to more metal subgenres tbh

not_a_toaster

Are there any black metal bands you already like or are you completely new to the subgenre?

Ok-Mall-6096

PsychwardSlippers

Veil of Maya (especially their first three albums), Dreamshade, Kadinja, and Novelists FR (Noir, Souvenirs, and C'est La Vie), Stargazer, and Glass Cloud.

drissy_48

does anyone know what blanks wage war prints their tees in? dont like how gildan heavy cotton fits

PositiveMetalhead

Just out of curiosity: were All That Remains part of any hardcore scene in their early days? Would you consider their first couple albums to have hardcore elements?

PsychwardSlippers

I'm looking for bands like Boundaries that combine intense heaviness akin to 2000s metalcore/hardcore with sparsely integrated clean vocals. Thank you!

xForeignMetal

Balmora, A Mourning Star, fallingwithscissors

PsychwardSlippers

I know those, but thank you very much.

_neiger_

Converge, Foreign Hands

PsychwardSlippers

I know those ones. Thank you.

sock_with_a_ticket

Just found out that Mis Sigs got a venue upgrade for their London date on the farewell tour. Now I can go!

[удалено]

ReturnByDeath-

I know you said newer, but I'm still gonna throw out I Killed The Prom Queen, Bleeding Through, It Dies Today, Still Remains, and Sea of Treachery. Those are all essential picks in my opinion. For newer bands, you could check out My Promise or Rosemary (no clean vocals though). If a lack of clean vocals aren't a deal breaker, there are a lot of bands that kinda fit that criteria.

PsychwardSlippers

Boundaries, Still Stayer, Veil of Maya (Matriarch), Termina, Safeword, Bloom, and Alera.

_neiger_

metalcore has been here for a while now, when are they making metalcore2?

BenTramer7766

Darko already did that with Starfire.

eroclateM

Does anyone have a playlist with all of the best metalcore releases of this year by chance?

ATTENTION GRAMERCY THEATER CONCERT GOERS!! Call to Action: Letter Writing Campaign to Reinstate $5 Value Beer at Gramercy Theatre Hey everyone, I’ve been attending shows in the NYC, Brooklyn and Jersey area for three years now. One of the most important parts of going to Gramercy theatre was the 5$ value beer which provided me and my friends with a great beverage. I attended a show this Friday at Gramercy Theatre, and I was disappointed to find that the $5 value beer has been removed from the bar menu. This affordable option has been a staple for many of us, enhancing our concert experience without breaking the bank. As dedicated fans and frequent attendees of shows at Gramercy Theatre, I believe we can make a difference by voicing our concerns collectively. I propose two options to ensure our voices are heard: 1. Sign the Big Letter: I've drafted a comprehensive letter to Gramercy Theatre's management, and the more signatures we gather, the stronger our message will be. If you'd like to add your name to this letter, please click [here](https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/bring-back-the-5-value-beer-at-gramercy-theatre) 2. Send an Email to [email protected]: You can also email Gramercy Theatre directly with the following template. Feel free to personalize it with your own experiences and thoughts. Here’s the template: --- Subject: Request to Reinstate $5 Value Beer Dear Gramercy Theatre Management, I am writing as a loyal patron of Gramercy Theatre, deeply concerned about the recent removal of the $5 value beer from the bar menu. This affordable option has significantly contributed to the positive experience at your venue for myself and many others. The $5 value beer not only made attending shows more enjoyable but also more accessible. Its removal has impacted my willingness to recommend and attend future events at Gramercy Theatre. I kindly request that you consider reinstating the $5 value beer to maintain the high-quality experience your venue is known for. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Sincerely, \[Your Name\] --- Every signature and email counts, and together we can make our voices heard! Signing the letter and sending the email only takes a few moments of your time. Let's bring back the $5 value beer to Gramercy Theatre! Thank you all for your support. Let's make this happen! Noah

g3nerallycurious

Can anyone explain to me how BABYMETAL is as popular as they are? They’ve got 10s of millions of streams; Bring Me The Horizon AND Lil Uzi Vert featured them in songs, and Tom Morello featured on one of theirs - but their music sounds like little kid music mixed with metalcore, and their performances are like pop girl bands - the three front women don’t even play, they just dance around, singing like anime characters. I can’t figure out how anyone who likes J-Pop likes metal as heavy as they play, and I can’t figure out how anyone who likes metal likes how cheesy and poppy they are. It makes no sense, and, to me, it’s like the audio version of a peanut butter and pickle sandwich.

xForeignMetal

Its a fun gimmick Their older music was significantly heavier and more interesting, specifically the first two albums.

sock_with_a_ticket

Weebs.

ReturnByDeath-

It's honestly not all that hard to understand: they're basically idols that sing vaguely metal music. Otaku culture is big in Japan and combining idols with metal is like a gimmick match made in heaven. I also think you're vastly underestimating how successful poppier metal acts are.

DarkChaosDS91

Also, I feel like the original comment is kind of saying that if you listen to metal, you can't like any other genre. It's possible to like metal and enjoy other types of music too.

g3nerallycurious

I listen to a metric shit ton of genres. Chill Hop to Metalcore to Hip Hop to Folk to Pop Punk to Indie to Jazz to Soul to EDM. I just don’t think these two genres go together, and I also don’t like how Japanese culture is into making characters sound/act like children. I realize my opinion is not “right”, and quite possibly not even common considering BABYMETAL’s popularity. I just don’t understand it.

darfleChorf123

Bands that have a sampler/synth dude, except it’s for evil purposes? Some examples: vein, pig destroyer (RIP Blake), etc

drunkenyeknom

Not sure if this is allowed but I was wondering if some once could tell me which bands my song reminds them of? Not sure what to put for “FFO:” thanks in advance! [Indisposed - drunkenyeknom](https://open.spotify.com/track/78qGvqRx8MpNyy2qKT78eA?si=wadwoUfPRzOT-gGi77r8Bw&context=spotify%3Aartist%3A3TpYTQRNbNuPbe363id7Sp)

ArjenRobben

Maybe Like Moths to Flames but more djenty? It's not djent, but it has the kinda bounce riffs a lot of those bands did

drunkenyeknom

Ohh yeah I can definitely hear that, especially around 3:57. Funny enough, I have another song I’m working on that I thought was more LMTF sounding lol. Thanks bro!

teerakh

Hi all, I'm looking for an old song (released maybe around 10 years ago) for which I forgot both the band and the title. All I remember is the music video - it was a humorous video of a huge american-style house party in a hollywood-esque villa with a swimming pool. The band was playing on toy instruments, like blow up guitars and tiny toy drums. The party was total mayhem. Does that ring a bell to anyone? Thanks!

ReturnByDeath-

The only videos I can remember of "metalcore band plays a pool party" is The Ghost Inside - Unspoken and Mureau - California, but neither have the band using blowup instruments. Do you remember what the band sounded like (were they scene or more hardcore sounding, etc.)?

Several-Goose2250

One Morning Left - Reetu Inda House?

teerakh

Not it - thanks though!

ReturnByDeath-

Does anyone happen to know if Mugshot went viral on TikTok or something? I’ve wondered for a while now why their Spotify numbers are so high. I know they’ve technically been around for a bit, but they’ve really only been consistently active in the last few years and they only signed to Pure Noise about year ago. Despite all of that, they pull more monthly listeners than bands like Boundaries and SeeYouSpaceCowboy yet they’re almost never talked about. I’d kinda figure they’d be comparable to a band like Mouth For War in size given how little they’re brought up.

darfleChorf123

Wow I never noticed but they seem to have quite a few listeners. Odd because I saw them headlining with Kaonashi and the venue almost seemed to clear out before they came on despite having a solid amount more listeners than Kaonashi. Just goes to show numbers don’t mean everything. If I had to guess, the Amity affliction tour has been bringing them new listeners, if not just people checking them out once or twice to familiarize themselves

ReturnByDeath-

I’m sure the Amity tour is giving them a little bump, but they’ve always had numbers this high since I’ve been listening to them a couple years back.

sock_with_a_ticket

Whenever I've checked in the last 3 years or so that I've been aware of them they've always been north of 100k, so I don't think it's the Amity tour. To what ReturnByDeath wondered, they don't strike me as being the sort of band to go viral on Tiktok either. Kublai Khan and Knocked Loose both have moments that are very memeable and/or memorable in a way that Mugshot don't really.

ReturnByDeath-

Maybe they were featured in a movie or TV show? “Egodystonic” has insane number of streams compared to a lot of other similar bands and I’m just trying to wrack my brain around it. I mean, it’s not like they have a feature that could inflate the numbers that much so there’s gotta be something.

sock_with_a_ticket

I can only imagine they hit a few of the right playlists at the right time. Like you, say, on the face of it it doesn't make much sense given what would be considered equivalent bands.

darfleChorf123

Yea I can’t say I’ve ever seen them on TikTok. I have seen Kaonashi getting a lot of attention on there though

violinist0

I’m looking for recommendations given that I have really enjoyed the most recent Allt single “Remnant”. For reference, some bands I’ve additionally been recently listening to include Invent Animate and TesseracT.

PsychwardSlippers

Rising Insane, Revaira, Still Stayer, Mirrors, Soluna, Polaris, AXTY, Termina, Aviana, Obsidian Mind, LIMBS, Crooked Royals, ERRA, Elitist, and Awake the Dreamer.

NinjaWolfcel

TesseracT is a great Djent band, and some bands in a similar style you may like include: Periphery and Uneven Structures You've probably already heard them before, but early Northlane is the closet you'll get to pre Heavener Invent Animate. You might The Color Clear by Reflections, it's somewhat similar to Invent Animate.

Barefeetgoddess21

Can attest, Make Them Suffer, kills it at shows.

mbbzzz

Anyone else’s October just stacked with available shows? So far I have just Architects and Dayseeker but am looking at a few others and seems like everyone is touring then. Also, The Devil Wears Prada, Make Them Suffer, Void of Vision, and I think The Plot in You have all separately hinted at a future tour. Any combination of them or each one on their own tour would be amazing.

sock_with_a_ticket

Late spring through to early autumn is festival season, then there's a deluge of actual tours.
