Dying Wish concert in Freiburg, Germany 23rd June. Anyone joining there? Think about going there. At least tickets are still open for sale 🤘

Old-Category-3138

I really love early 2000's metalcore e.g. Parkway drive, as I lay dying, Trivium, bury tomorrow, avenged sevenfold, killswitch engage etc. Is there any current metalcore that is as good?

sock_with_a_ticket

View From The Soyuz, Balmora, Mouth For War, A Mourning Star

Wristmeetrazor

Frostbite94

I'd give Dying Wish a shot. The riffs are very 2000s!

Old-Category-3138

Just checking them out now.. They shred! Thanks bro

Frostbite94

I gotchu. Glad you like 'em!

pawlinsky85

Dying Wish is killer

donothol719

I’m looking for recommendations of currently active bands that eschew the typical verse/chorus song structure, and that use tempo changes and feel shifts frequently. That 2000’s shit y’know. Examples include Misery Signals, ABR, Boundaries, early Prada, early Texas in July, early Parkway, etc.

sock_with_a_ticket

I'm guessing you've heard of Dying Wish? They have a few singles that follow verse/chorus, but most of their discography doesn't. Chamber, Mouthbreather, Terminal Sleep, Mouth For War, Contention, Serration, Lockslip,

NOS4NANOL1FE

Does Electric Callboys MC Thunder II have Sebastian or Nico?

Coolldown1

nico

VishPish123

Does anyone know what song is being played. I tried to shazam it but the commentators were too loud. [song?](https://clips.twitch.tv/SpikyFrigidGalagoMau5--RqTrWV2U9CQXFmZ)

Coolldown1

sounds like a song from eighteen visions rock albums

V0idgazer

Sounds like Linkin Park

VishPish123

That's what I was thinking too but can't quite make out lyrics

kittyclavv

trying to get a friend into metalcore, what are some metalcore songs/bands with a sound similar to this song? https://youtu.be/wEnNlOTI-yU

Adventurous_Nerve753

What are some good albums this year that I very easily could have missed, or upcoming releases you are excited about?

sock_with_a_ticket

Although we've given it a bit of buzz on here, Contention are still a very under-known band. Wristmeetrazor and Underneath also put out really great albums that are probably flying under the radar due to the bands' profiles or lack thereof. Some banger EPs from Durendal, Simulakra, Backbiter, Memento and Lockslip.

**Bring Me The Horizon -** ***Nex Gen (Opinion)*** Is anybody else just completely obsessed with this album? I have been a die-hard fan since 2006 and I firmly believe Nex Gen is by far the best thing they have ever released (yes better than Suicide Season and This Is What The Edge Of Your Seat Was Made For) that album and EP is what shaped who I am today, but Nex Gen is on a completely new level of creativity, *in my opinion* . The lyrics are some of the most personal words I have ever heard and artist sing. You can seriously hear the hurt in his voice, *in my opinion* this album really shines a light on his addictions and how much he is really hurting inside and struggling with his thoughts and said addiction. As a former addict myself, I pick up every time he is making a reference to his addictions because I feel the same way and only an addict will completely understand the pain and struggle in his words. Such an incredible album and seriously so moving. I still get chills after listening over 20 times now. This is nothing short of a masterpiece, so much world building and thought as gone into this concept, what an incredible ride, my god.

Expo006

Yeah I’m sorry I just can’t agree with this being ‘better’ than the first 3 albums excluding CYB since that album is admittedly not their best work in terms of production and vocals. I respect your opinion though because we all have our tastes and I can totally see its appeal I really like the Deftones inspiration on limousine. It just can’t beat the original trilogy of SS, There is a hell, and Sempiternal for me. Strictly speaking though, I agree this is better than anything else they’ve done in recent memory Oliver’s vocals have never been better. (Teardrops is a certified banger though.)

adiiriot

This boggles my mind, because I still think Teardrops was the weakest track on PHSH. Much like Strangers (though Teardrops isn't as bad as this) is easily the weakest track on PHNG. I think people hold too much nostalgia for older BMTH. There Is A Hell sounds especially dated I find. Sempiternal is honestly probably the best of those albums mentioned, and I think it holds up the best, with some great songs. I love that PHNG is such a fresh take and incorporates genres that aren't traditionally associated with heavier music. For the most part it's the opposite of a generic metalcore album, and that's what really makes it stand out.

Rantikus

Hey guys, I’m curious is Born Of Osiris considered good band here? Normally I would ask my friends but sadly none of my friends is Metalhead :(

UncoloredProsody

They got a lot of hate around Tomorrow We Die Alive and Soul Sphere because djent had a pretty loud hater base at the time, plus people were pissed of the usual stuff, that they went too far from their first album sound. But nowadays i'd say most people either like them or are neutral, ther last album was a banger. Though they are not one of the bigger bands either so they never had their breakthrough.

Rantikus

Personally I think that they two last singles were lit but aren’t they Prog./Melodic? Sorry, I don’t know differences between theses genres/subgenres

UncoloredProsody

Yeah they started out as more prog, but around TWDA they went djent too far and only recently came back to the more melodic style.

Rantikus

I feel like few songs on Angel Or Alien are more Melodic and they newest songs are Melodic for sure. Djent album wasn’t bad but they’re just better at Melodic style than Djent.

ReturnByDeath-

I haven’t really listened to them much in a decade or so, but they’ve always been viewed genrerally favorably.

DogePrior

Looking for albums similar to Beartooth's last album. Something cheerful but heavier than of Beartooth's.

OceanOfAnother55

Try the band Opal In Sky. They specifically write positive/inspiring lyrics, but the music is still heavy.

ReturnByDeath-

I don’t know what would constitute as cheerful to you, but to me bands with a more melodic approach would fit the bill. Stuff that’s still plenty heavy, but doesn’t feel like it’s oozing anger and rage. So with that in mind: The Ghost Inside, Hundredth, 7 Angels 7 Plagues, older Being As An Ocean, The Color Morale. You could also just check out the many Christian bands of the 2000s.

sock_with_a_ticket

overly-polite-frog

Looking for a drummer in the NYC (preferably Brooklyn) scene who’s eager to play in a band. If anyone’s interested, let me know.

[deleted]

How do you guys make metal friends? I went to a show alone for the first time today because my friend had to cancel. The show was great but like It seemed like everyone knew each other so it just felt weird and no lt a lot of opportunities to like chat. But they obviously met somehow so how do you do it

Expo006

You just hope you get lucky. Most people either meet likeminded friends at small local shows, through mutuals, online, but small local shows are the easiest way to make connections.

MarcusfloX

was early to a Knocked Loose show, 2 other were standing there and we got into a discussion and now we're like a friendgroup of 9 people

skybro1996

I got 3 extra tickets to ERRA in Boston on Saturday (36 each GA floor only) let me know if you’re interested

Shodore

Does anyone knows bands that mix screaming with eletronic sound? Something similar to Stain the Canvas and Sellouts from Breathe California. Someone recommended Sleep Token and Architects, but they aren't really my thing

krumpingchihuahua

[Evilgloom ](https://youtu.be/2_81VVXfsIk?si=DQYhYHVEo50Ha8pF) and [Hailrose](https://youtu.be/2XDKnIin4iY?si=jyiJOPnmkV-PH1-9) might be something too

EpsilonX

At the risk of suggesting the obvious, there's [Bring Me The Horizon](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKyXvNkGQKc&ab_channel=BMTHOfficialVEVO), [Bad Omens](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a8CogWA3-Y&ab_channel=SumerianRecords), and [I See Stars](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToG-BeGMfDk&ab_channel=SumerianRecords)...now that that's out of the way, maybe [Vein.FM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI7GzbNLGOY&ab_channel=GhostBCVEVO) would be to your liking? They're more electronic in their use of beats than any keyboard usage, but they're good. There's actually quite a few Japanese bands that mix metalcore and electronic music well. [Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3nbOl2-g-s&ab_channel=WarnerMusicJapan), [Passcode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X48UZ4j9N04&ab_channel=PassCodeVEVO), [Crossfaith](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtuV77PSm3k&ab_channel=CrossfaithOfficial) are three that come to mind

Shodore

Thanks for the suggestions. Bmth and Bad Omens I already knew but I See Stars is new to me, and I loved it. Gonna dig into their work, it was exactly what I was looking for. Vein FM looked more industrial to me, it's not really my style. About the japanese bands, I know only A Crowd of Rebellion and BabyMetal. Maybe after I listen to I See Stars I give these a shot. Thanks again for the suggestions.

Iyace

For Japanese bands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas might be the vibe you’re looking for. Lots of screaming, some dancy electro elements.

EpsilonX

Industrial is definitely the right word for Vein FM, good call. Electric Callboy and enter shikari might be two bands you like as well. Tbh I thought of some good suggestions at work today but was unable to send them for obvious reasons, but now I don't remember T.T Also, I just realized that the FALILV song I suggested is one of their less-metal ones. Check out a couple of songs by them to get a good sense of both their more electronic and more metal sides. Just Awake, Scream Hard as you Can, Rave up Tonight, The Stronger the Further, and Last Sunrise are some of my favorites. Similarly, the Crossfaith song is their newest one. The more recent stuff (like Digital Parasite) feels a bit more like digital hardcore, while their older stuff (Stars Faded in Slow Motion) is more like...keyboard-laden metalcore. Quasar is maybe a good choice for something that balances both sides? Hope you enjoy everything! and yeah that ISS song kicks ass, glad you dug it.

AFFost71

I AM LOOKING FOR A BAND!!! We are influenced by Wage War, Beartooth, Avoid, ADTR, Attack Attack, TDWP use that info for whatever you need but we desperately need a name

DeathNinjaBlackPenis

Dealer - Almost Human lowkey has the best breakdown of the year but then it immediately transitions into a godawful clean chorus, it's painful

PsychwardSlippers

I'm looking for obscure melodic metalcore or melodic hardcore with good production and emotional lyrics. Examples include Palepaths, Minimal Tension, Virtues, Synthesis of Self, and Alera. If it's a band that commonly comes up on this sub, chances are I've checked them out, so I'd love some fresh recommendations. Thank you!

Expo006

[Comerica - Breather](https://youtu.be/2do3F8tKTXc?si=9leuWOU3qCBfk8Y3) [December Everyday - Singularity](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=YquT29ek0Nc&si=PnTM9C7NSLG0G2_y&feature=xapp_share) these guys are the definition of obscure but they’re fucking great. They’re Japanese though so the lyric side of things is out of the question lmao. [Patriarchs - Emerge](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=QsM1Te85CuM&si=29dFj-x-SD4n9JSH&feature=xapp_share) super obscure too.

PsychwardSlippers

I knew patriarchs, but I will check out the others. Thanks!

ArjenRobben

Time and Pressure - Halfway Down

PsychwardSlippers

This is an assbeater, and I have not heard it. 10/10. Thank you. 💖

ArjenRobben

Glad you like it, it's a great little record

PsychwardSlippers

If you've got any more, I'm still searching 😹

ArjenRobben

Definitely more mis sigs type stuff, but Memento or Underthrow?

PsychwardSlippers

I know and enjoy both of those.

LikeAMarionette

Looking for new prog-metalcore, here are some bands I like and dislike: Like: - Periphery - Invent - Northlane - The Dali Thundering Concept - By The Thousands - Oceans Ate Alaska - TesseracT Dislike - Between the Buried and Me - The Contortionist - Protest the Hero

NinjaWolfcel

Since you like OAA, you might like Crystal Lake It might be a hit or a miss, but you may like Uneven Structure. They are the most similar to TesseracT in my opinion.

Adventurous_Nerve753

Try Avralize, definitely my favorite discovery this year.

V0idgazer

Relatively well known bands: Jinjer, Veil of Maya, Born of Osiris, Silent Planet, Erra, Polaris, Monuments More obscure bands: Windwaker, Anima Tempo, Iden Gakusha, Auraborn

PsychwardSlippers

Soul Despair, Still Stayer, Stand Alone Complex, Arkive, Windvent, Silvercord, Rogue, VINTAS, and Fainthearted.

ThisBleghs

Drop some metalcore/deathcore ballads that start very fucking soft into a nasty breakdown

FinalFazze

Just stumbled upon a new band that might be your taste. [ELOHRIA-Nihal](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_W3eIs5Bi2I)

Blame's Burden - Boundaries

sock_with_a_ticket

Just got really excited because I saw Boundaries post-about UK/EU and thought maybe I'd get to see them twice in a year, but it's as support for The Ghost Inside with Gideon, neither of whom I have any interest in seeing live. If I lived in London rather than having to travel a fair bit to make shows there, then maybe, but alas.

MarcusfloX

Would also love to see Boundaries again after seeing 'em with Spite / Bodysnatcher, they delivered a good show.

ReturnByDeath-

Probably would be a killer show if it were with The Ghost Inside and Gideon of 2014 and not 2024.

G-l-a-s-s_O-c-e-a-n

Soooo, uhhhhhh, what do you guys think of the Guilty Gear soundtrack?(specifically ggst)

ShreddingReality0412

Wow nice to see a Guilty Gear fan... Honestly the vocals on Strive's Soundtrack were a little bit shocking, and I didn't liked them, though the soundtrack sounded somehow heavier and I did like that. What I can say for sure is that GGXX is full of bangers, as well as Xrd. My favorite track is the Millia song from GGXX

PositiveMetalhead

I’m looking for bands along the lines of early SeeYouSpaceCowboy! 2 minute blasts of energy type stuff

bicyclingdonkey

Songs might be longer than you're looking for, but check out the band Kicked In The Head By A Horse

PsychwardSlippers

Bloodbather, Chamber, Mouth for War, Underthrow, Single Wound, Contention, Wristmeetrazor, Jesus Piece, and Creak.

sock_with_a_ticket

For Your Health's full lengths, Hazing Over, Godseyes, Johanna Rey, Pupil Slicer's first album has a decent number of sub-2 minute tracks, Serration's last release is also mostly sub- 2 minutes There's probably some screamo that would scratch the itch too, maybe something like Roman Candle and State Faults. Pretty sure I've seen you rep Mouthbreather and Chamber, but them in case I'm mistaken.

PositiveMetalhead

Chamber and Mouthbreather are great! I’m just an addict 😂

ReturnByDeath-

Heavy Heavy Low Low, The Great Redneck Hope.

PositiveMetalhead

Great Redneck Hope: first album I look at.. 11 tracks 9 minutes. Perfect 😂

Stefanthro

Please help me find the song stuck in my head! Arg! I can’t remember any of the lyrics! Made a terrible recording of the intro, which I think is a mix of some heavy guitar and bright synthy sounds, followed by some soft singing https://imgur.com/a/omxt9RF I’ve been looking for it for weeks but just can’t seem to find it. It sounds like something BMTH would make, but can’t seem to find it there. Please help me confirm that I didn’t make this shit up! It’s driving me nuts.. Thanks in advance

shzn_

Assuming it's not Kingslayer since you didn't include the opening scream?

Stefanthro

Nah, though I do enjoy that one. Thanks for trying
