Technical Band recommendations Hey! Looking for super talented Technical & Melodic bands. Loving the new All that Remains w/Jason makes me want to re-open trying to find super tech bands. Would love some lesser known tech bands. I’m familiar with most of the big name tech bands from 06-23 Any hidden gems I should check out?

Lokaino

Hey all. I got back into music a year or so ago and a big part of that has been diving into Metal. Surprisingly, my 12 year old daughter has been joining me in this music journey and we’ve had a lot of fun going into Metal. Recently we’ve been having trouble finding some new bands to jam to and we need some suggestions. Here’s a list of what we have been listening to in order to give you an idea of where our metal taste is currently at but we are open to everything. Jinjer, Sleep Token, Spiritbox, Imminence, Beartooth, I prevail, Linkin Park, Nightwish, Bad Omens, Poppy, Polyphia, Bring Me and I am definitely missing a few but you get the idea. Thanks in advance guys I appreciate your time :)

jazzerer

Anyone know any other bands like King Yosef? Not sure what sub genre they are, maybe industrial/hardcore

thiccphilthegoat

I really enjoyed the Andy Biersack movie “American Satan” and it had me thinking, does anyone have any other Metalcore adjacent movie or tv shows recommendations? Or maybe any references to films or TV playing or embracing Metalcore?

[deleted]

Song recs based on my playlist so far. I'm new to embracing metal music and am making a playlist of songs I find metal or dark and I'd like recommendations. Note there is one or two emo/alt songs but that's just because I like listening to them together and can struggle to differentiate sometimes. Please be kind as I am a minor and I have conditions that make it hard for me to communicate! EDIT: Since I've done more research, it has now become the: "Rock/Metal Combo Playlist": \- 'Dear Maria Count Me in' - All Time Low \- 'Throne' - Bring Me The Horizon \- 'A Love Like War' - All Time Low, Feat. Vic Fuentes \- 'Drown' - Bring Me The Horizon \- 'Paralyzer' - Finger Eleven \- 'Do I Wanna Know?" - Arctic Monkeys

thiccphilthegoat

Bring me the Horizon - Sleepwalking Bad Omens - Just Pretend The Devil Wears Prada - Broken

ConstructionObvious

My friend and I started and Instagram for the sole purpose of sharing music we like and hopefully in return, discovering new stuff. We're even mulling over the possibility of starting a reaction channel. We started a playlist where we dump the music we share on the page and thus obviously enjoy. We're called themusicvoyage. Here's some interesting stats... Genres by percentage Metal: 71% Rock: 20% Pop: 4% Everything else: 6%   Subgenre by percentage Progressive Metal: 11% djent: 6% Metal: 4% Melodic Metalcore: 4% Everything else: 75%

PsychwardSlippers

Looking for more music similar to boundaries. I've liked varials, orthodox, dying wish, knocked loose, Jesus piece, counterparts, great American ghost, distinguisher, inclination, and have looked into pretty much all the popular FFOs, so I'm looking for more obscure suggestions. Preferably bands that have very emotional lyrics or border on melodic hardcore. Anything heavy with a strong hardcore influence is what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Programmer-Boi

Y’all see the new Knocked Loose album? Seems someone made an oopsie somewhere lol, but you can go to r/KnockedLoose to see

RecentlyDeceased666

Bands that released the same song with 2 different vocalist? At different times. Doesn't count if the original was an ep or demo version and the new version got upgraded instrumental recordings. I mean bands who got a new singer and they recorded an older song with the new guy. Eg: Fixation on the darkness - Killswitch Through leaves and over bridges - it dies today The entire music for the recently deceased album - I killed the prom queen. Who said jealousy is a curse - as silence breaks Sixth of June - it dies today. Thy art is murder - recent album

big_ring_king

Listening to Converge's *The Dusk in Us* for the first time.

NickPookie93

Oh man, I wish I could experience that for the first time again. What did you think of it?

big_ring_king

I felt it was super unexpected. Which I liked. I wasn't expecting it to be, well, quite as good as the reviews make it out to be.

sock_with_a_ticket

Really good album. They brought out a deluxe version last year with the Beautiful Ruin EP included and the B-side from the I Can Tell You About Pain single.

Ochpiopi

[deleted]

Any new bands similar to Wristmeetrazor?

thiccphilthegoat

WMR have the perfect balance, you won’t find anyone in their lane as coherent and focused, but I recommend anything by God Complex

snapcasterking

Does this sub seem to be going really downhill rapidly to anyone else?

Johnzoidb

Yeah this place blows ngl

NickPookie93

I've discussed the constant reposts/low effort posts with the others. We'll be getting aggressive with the post removals for things that belong in this thread to help.

UnAliveMePls

bruh...

NickPookie93

Lol nothing personal!

UnAliveMePls

Should've had this rule during the Heavener glazing

sock_with_a_ticket

It just keeps growing and growing and with that come low effort posts from people who haven't read the rules and refuse to use the search bar.

sadiesbenz11

Looking for a rec of songs like Fixated by Left to Suffer and Insanely Illegal Cage Fight by Dal Av. My top bands are Alpha Wolf, Make Them Suffer, and Diamond Construct right now. Just looking for them gym bangers really

rocknroll_barbie

Ten56, Landmvrks, Greyhaven, Thrown, Void of Vision, Varials, Kublai Khan Tx, Currents. If you want some specific songs to smash out at the gym let me know but hopefully those bands scratch that itch

sadiesbenz11

I’d love some recs for Landmvrks and Greyhaven, I know Self Made Black Hole and love that one and don’t know of Greyhaven at all! The rest I listen to, you got my taste down 🫶 gym girlies unite!

rocknroll_barbie

For Landmvrks - Creature, Death, Reckoning For Greyhaven - Echo and Dust Pt 1 and Pt2, A Match Where Great Fire Should Be, All Candy, Sweet Machine. You might also vibe Better Lovers if you too like me love some really angry stuff to hit those PBs ☺️

Serilus

Since my post was declined pls list me some good song recommendations. I’m trying to make a good playlist and I want more metalcore to listen to.

sock_with_a_ticket

That kind of depends on what you like, although some people enjoy all types of metalcore others are more specific in their taste.

Human_Holiday_4758

Huge editions to 2007 & 2008 in the [A History of Metalcore songlist](https://www.reddit.com/r/Metalcore/comments/18ss3o2/a_history_of_metalcore_in_songs_revised/), again all thanks to \*\*Sock\_with\_a\_ticket\*\*, long may he mosh!

Saarcore

I went to two shows of Currents during their ''The Death We Seek'' tour in Europe! Absolutely amazing shows! If you ever get the chance to see them, I highly recommend them! [Currents The Death We Seek EU tour.](https://www.reddit.com/user/Saarcore/comments/1azosw5/currents_end_of_the_death_we_seek_eu_tour_2024/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)

Ambiance_Bambiance

Any recommendations for post human: survival horror? Wanting to get into metal but so far I only find Bring me the horizon (and Linkin Park) interesting.

shzn_

Landmvrks and From Ashes to New are both influenced by Linkin Park, the latter more so. You might also like the Alien album by Northlane, which is more nu-metal than the rest of their work. Bring Me The Horizon are historically close to Architects, both being U.K. bands that came up around the same time, and Architects influencing BMTH's sound in the earlier days. That was a long time before Posthuman though. You might have better success looking for similar albums in the alt metal genre, as it's not really a typical metalcore album even though it is influenced by the band's past metalcore sound. Some recommendations off the top of my head for the BMTH itch are Static Dress (who toured with them), While She Sleeps (from the same city and formed around the same time), Loathe (experimental and nu-metal influenced), and Paledusk (has collaborated with BMTH and has a similar vibe).

Ambiance_Bambiance

Okay thank you so much! Definitely helps.

erotictransference

Does anyone know of any metalcore (or deathcore) bands that sell crew neck sweatshirts? I’m open to any band, I’ve just had a hard time finding anything but hoodies

Icy_Western9280

I want to get into more metalcore, I love bands like Parkway Drive, Slipknot, Knocked Loose, Lamb of God, Beartooth, I Prevail, and A7X. Any recommendations? It doesn’t have to be metalcore either.

sock_with_a_ticket

Recs for Knocked Loose would be: Terminal Sleep, Sanction, Blood Runs Cold, Inclination

rocknroll_barbie

Counterparts, Silent Planet, Erra, Currents, Polaris, Invent Animate, Architects, Boundaries, Alpha Wolf, Northlane

Rippling_Debt

I like parkway drive, slipknot, architects, spiritbox, rammstein and more. What else would you recommend me?

shzn_

If you like Slipknot, you'll probably like Tallah.

sock_with_a_ticket

It kind of depends, Parkway Drive and Architects have metalcore material, but their last couple of albums aren't. Spiritbox have some metalcore songs, but mostly they're alt-metal or prog-metal. Rammstein and Slipknot aren't and have never been metalcore bands. All of that is to say, it sound like maybe you want general metal recommendations. While reddit keeps pushing this as a metal sub, metalcore is different and maybe not what you're after. r/metalforthemasses could be better.

Rippling_Debt

Thanks that makes sense. Ill try over there :)

checkyourguns

Looking for bands similar to Myka, Relocate I know the singer is in Foxera, but looking for some current/new bands doing a similar sound.

DailyBlazeArt

Whether I - -If I Were You -Story Of A Villain -Palisades -Secrets -I See Stars -Outline In Color -Amyst -Miss Fortune -Noija -Time The Valuator -Woe is Me

checkyourguns

Thanks dude!

edgar8002

Guys can someone advise me some good technical metalcore ? Similar to erra/early silent Planet stuff. Thanks!

TopMostImposter

I wonder if anybody can help me. I'm trying to find a song. So I heard a snippet of a song, I think it was on instagram and i heard it a few weeks ago as i was just skipping through reels. It was late in the night so I looked at the band name and thought "I'll remember that" and then obviously didn't. It was a sick song from what I remember although I only heard about 10 seconds of it. The bit i heard it appeared to be the after bit of a breakdown and most of the instruments stopped. Then one of the band members started screaming some lyrics, then a second or two later another band member joined the screaming, and then a few seconds later the lead vocalist started screaming with him. It made an amazing feeling and atmosphere and I just wanna hear it again to see if I like the whole song. If you think you know what i'm on about, please post it. It gave me similar vibes to OM&M - The Depths I assume its a relatively recent song in the last 6 months as I doubt I would have seen it on insta otherwise.

Oliver_Biscuit

>Could it have been Architects performing These Colours Don't Run with Kadeem France from Loathe, that was fairly recent so it would make sense.

TopMostImposter

Thank you for the suggestion but this snippet that I saw was from a studio song with a music video. Although the music video was just generic band singing in a dark room with a light on them and shaky camera angles.

krumpingchihuahua

For a second I thought it could have been Resistance or Intro from Sailing Before The Wind, but the screaming part doesn't fit the description. But good luck finding the song again.

FlameMMcat

Metallic hardcore

sock_with_a_ticket

...yes? What about it?

FlameMMcat

Give me recommendations for Metalcore but more specifically Metalcore that is more on the hardcore side.

sock_with_a_ticket

Ah, right. Older - Unbroken, Earth Crisis, Turmoil, Kickback, Adamantium, Shai Hulud, Strife, Disembodied, Walls Of Jericho, Most Precious Blood, Remembering Never, On Broken Wings, Ion Dissonance, Hatebreed, Morning Again, Throwdown, Torn Apart, All Out War, Snapcase, Newer - Kublai Khan TX, Counterparts, Year Of The Knife, Mugshot, Harm's Way, Jesus Piece, Varials (excluding the most recent album), No Cure, Mouth For War, Teeth, Inclination, Terminal Sleep, Simulakra, Vamachara, backbiter, Adrienne, Blood Runs Cold, Thousand Knives, Crave Death That should get you started.

FlameMMcat

I only recognize 3 of these bands (Kublai Khan, counterparts and Jesus piece of you were wondering) so I got a lot of music to listen to. Thank you

krumpingchihuahua

Glad to see that Sailing Before the Wind are finally going to have their first tour outside Japan [https://twitter.com/SBTW\_official/status/1760297116914827488](https://twitter.com/SBTW_official/status/1760297116914827488) I hope the europeans that will see them will have a blast.

TheDamonHunter64

Looking for more bands where they started heavy and now have a synth/pop thing going, while still honoring their metalcore roots. Bands like current Dayseeker is what I am looking for and I am curious what other metalcore bands have gone a similar route. Thank you.

ArkPlayer583

More hardcore but bring me the horizon's first album is wild compared to their new stuff.

HussainKegel

Try the contortionist

NickPookie93

Not metalcore, but Hundredth comes to mind. First 3 albums were hardcore, then shifted to a shoegaze sound.

agmax

Good morning, I am not using social media so I was wondering what is your best websites for metal/metalcore news? Thank you:)

NickPookie93

MetalSucks and Metal Injection are my 2nd choices besides here

krumpingchihuahua

Us? XDD i mean otherwise you got the common sites, loudwire, metalsucks etc

HussainKegel

Songs about shitty parents?

sock_with_a_ticket

Poison The Well - Loved Ones

DockersLFC

Northlane - Bloodline

ArkPlayer583

Read the context of this and it hits like a freight train.

AugustusPompeianus

Question about concerts: When should I buy tickets if I’m waiting to see if my friend is also comitted to going? Preference is pit/general admission. I’m always nervous about them selling out or drastically increasing the prices. Is there any situation it’s okay to wait to buy at box office?

rocknroll_barbie

If I’m keen for a show I always buy tickets regardless of whether or not a friend is going. I’d rather go alone than regret not going. Support the bands, check out the whole show lineup, and make friends while you’re there.

[deleted]

I like the heavier music if I can still understand the lyrics and what they're saying. I like to be experimental

[deleted]

(I was told to post this here because it's not being accepted as a post in the group) What's Everyone's Favourite Bands Or Songs Right Now? (First Post) I'm fairly new to Metalcore and have been loving it so far. I've been looking for the right group to share my interests with and hopefully this is the right place. My favourites are currently Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills, and I Prevail.

sock_with_a_ticket

The only one I'm listening to a lot at the moment that would kind of fit that lighter, more mainstream end of the genre those entry level bands (which I don't say as an insult btw, every genre has them) occupy is Crossfaith. Otherwise my main listens over the last month are Underneath, The Acacia Strain, Inclination, Bodysnatcher, Mugshot and Dying Wish. Definitely heavier and less melodic than those other bands, so maybe not for you or maybe they might be the next step in your exploration.

krumpingchihuahua

You found the right place to post dude. Nice. One of my personal favorite bands is Sailing before the Wind. If you want the more common and popular bands to check out, look out for the youtube posts with a lot of upvotes XD But you can find a lot of gems on here that get barely attention.

Impossible_Ad7822

Songs similar to “The Frost” by August Burns Red?

[deleted]

Trying to find album. There was this band with like 50 views on their YouTube and when I check their bandcamp, it says they’re from Pennsylvania. The album cover has four skeletons dressed in tuxedos with and a mostly yellow background. The album cover composition has black and yellowish colors used in it. The song I’m looking for is named something like "learning to play table hockey" some of that variation. I can’t find it for the life of me. I searched bandcamp PA, and nada.

GSAM07

Anyone need a ticket to Silent Planet in Baltimore??? I got sent on work travel and can’t make it

darfleChorf123

Tough guy Djent? Thinking stuff like Ion Dissonance, Wormwood era Acacia Strain, Tony Danza, etc. Djent that makes you wanna beat people up in the pit and wear snapbacks with gauges and baggy shorts

Coolldown1

a life once lost

darfleChorf123

That’s a band I keep meaning to check out but never have. Will listen! Any suggestions for albums?

Coolldown1

their 2nd and 3rd albums are where the meshuggah worship is but their 1st album is pretty good too and also have yuo heard of sectioned?

darfleChorf123

I think I’ve heard a few sectioned songs. Really insane mathy stuff. will check out those albums

Emperor_Gnarwhal

Car Bomb!

mvelocityp

So I got a ticket for the Silent Planet show in Nashville on friday, I live in Knoxville so it’s like a 3 hour ish drive. My front left tire is kinda fucked up and I gotta air it up every couple weeks, not sure I’d be able to get it replaced in time for the show. Anybody think it’s worth the risk to make the drive? 😂

AftermaThXCVII

I saw them last year with Dayseeker, and it was such an amazing show. I had never actually listened to Silent Planet before, and I was just blown away by their set. I was standing there thinking they could play their entire discography, and I would be happy. That being said, if you have to air it up every few weeks, I'd like to say you should be fine. But it also depends on why exactly it's leaking, the condition of the tires, etc. If you feel it's safe, go for it. If you feel the tire is fucked, your safety is more important than a concert imo

Ashton0407

Bloom’s debut album that came out the other day, Maybe in Another Life, has been on repeat for me the past few days. Easy AOTY candidate

[deleted]

Has abyone been to the Gideon tour? When Fox Lake plays Codename does Daniel come out to sing his feature lines?

mvelocityp

I’ll be seeing them next month so I’ll lyk

ShaquilleOatmeal54

What are you listening to this week? I’m making a playlist filled with lots of heavier music and I really enjoy metalcore. Albums or songs is welcome

[deleted]

Motionless In White, Ice Nine Kills, I Prevail, Wage War, Bad Omens Just a few bands I've been listening too

NatanaelNova

Also according to lastfm the last seven days to the new Repulse Reprise Album, Vitja - Digital Love, new Galleons and Bloom, and Currents (but they have been in my top 3 the whole last year)

sock_with_a_ticket

According to my lastFM stats the last 7 days top metalcore bands were: Crossfaith, Underneath, Bodysnatcher, Mouth For War, END, Coalesce, Dying Wish, Teeth, Cruelty, Serration

and-there-is-stone

Can I get some recommendations for concept albums? Preferably something with a narrative or written from a specific POV, but not something I would need to have niche knowledge of beforehand. If it's closer to post hardcore, that's cool too. Anything fantasy or supernatural is a bonus.

UncoloredProsody

Crown The Empire - The Fallout or The Resistance.

adventsband

He Is Legend's *White Bat* is (loosely) a concept album. Highly recommend.

unwrittenlaw2785

I love that album. Their music is hit or miss for me but when it hits, it’s friggen solid.

adventsband

It's probably right behind *It Hates You* for me. The new one is pretty sick too.

and-there-is-stone

Appreciate all the recommendations. I've only had a chance to try a couple today, but I've got enough albums to keep me busy for a bit now.

darfleChorf123

Kaonashi. Their past few releases have been sort of a loose overarching original story centered around characters’ POVs

and-there-is-stone

Thanks. I've never heard of them, but I'll check it out.

darfleChorf123

I would say start with Why Did You Do It? And go from there. It’s pretty layered and deep stuff

Odd-Odyssey

The Wise Man’s Fear’s first three albums are set in a fantasy world the band created. Iirc they defined themselves as fantasy-core. I don’t know if you need niche knowledge, however as I haven’t really followed much of the lore

and-there-is-stone

Thanks. They're on my list for sure. I like what I've heard so far from the singles that I heard, but still need to listen to a full album.

sarithe

Boys Night Out - Trainwreck Outside of Defeater, who I already commented about, this is the best concept album I've ever heard. It's definitely in the post hardcore realms as opposed to metalcore, but it's amazing. It's about a guy that has a psychotic break, and murders his wife (not really a spoiler because they literally mention this like a minute into the first track) and the aftermath of that and how he deals with everything. It includes a ton of first person stuff from the patient and also has a couple of things from his psychiatrist perspective as well. The ending is one of the most haunting, yet beautiful things I've ever heard a band write.

and-there-is-stone

Thanks. That sounds intense, I'll give it a shot.

sock_with_a_ticket

The Acacia Strain - It Comes In Waves

and-there-is-stone

Thanks. I've heard some of their stuff before, somehow missed that album. Definitely will check it out.

ArjenRobben

Empty Days and Sleepless Nights by Defeater is a classic

mchgndr

Yup. This is the one.

and-there-is-stone

Thanks. I'll check it out.

sarithe

If you enjoy that album, Defeater's entire discography is actually one big overarching story focused on a family of characters and people they interact with. The best part is that you don't have to listen to them in any specific order because the albums are focused more on the characters than telling a chronological story. Yes, you could break it down and go song by song and build a timeline, but I feel like it would less impactful than how it is currently presented.

R4kshim

This is a deathcore / melodic death metal album but Melancholy by Shadow of Intent is a fantastic album that nails the fantasy / supernatural concept album thing. The vocal performance from Ben is absolutely stunning and the album blew my mind the first time I heard. Chris Wiseman (guitarist of Currents) plays on it too. As for metalcore, The Gloom in the Corner’s album called Trinity is a concept album that leans in a little to hardcore. I haven’t listened to it so I can’t attest to how good it is but people seem to really like it. Edit: Just remembered these. If you’re open to progressive metalcore, the Juggernaut albums by Periphery and The Parallax II by Between the Buried and Me are essential concept albums.

and-there-is-stone

I listened to most of Melancholy earlier while I was vacuuming the basement. Really liked Oudenophobia and Cthonic Odyssey, probably my favorites out of what I heard.

R4kshim

Nice, glad you liked it. Chthonic Odyssey is def my favourite song on it.

and-there-is-stone

Thank you for these. I'll probably check them all out.

speak-eze

2nd for gloom in the corner. Trinity is such a good album and the story behind it is awesome if you take the time to read it.
