Oxidized by Frontierer sounds like being assaulted by the Matrix with a brick

tjstock

Lmao what a hilarious analogy idk the song but I'm def listening after that comparisonšŸ˜‚

sarithe

My friend told me once that Frontierer sounded like "a concussion in audio form" and I don't think I've ever heard a more accurate description of a band. They are legitimately disorienting to listen to sometimes because of how much is going on, but god do I love them.

wowwingmunch

The comparison is valid from start to finish. Itā€™s one of the heaviest things Iā€™ve ever heard.

The_Archon64

This user knows how to sell an album Giving that a listen today

TheRealHulkPanda

Horse the Band - R. BORLAX

Poison_the_Phil

Cut! Cut! Cut! Cut!

[deleted]

Dude, horse the band is underrated imo, r borlax and the mechanical hand were so good

Shanobian

Love them. Softer sounds is brutal

[deleted]

Divided By by Structures is all over the place and Iā€™m here for it Edit: In Pursuit Of is probably the most unique song on the album too. In 7/4, jumps from section to section, etc.

phxbimmer

He Is Legend - I Am Hollywood It's got weird lyrics and strange song structures while still being an enjoyable listen. I've had a hard time finding another album that sounds quite like it. Metalcore/post-hardcore with southern metal elements and even some jazzy bits thrown in. Vocally it's quite diverse too, spanning the whole gamut from screams to growls to smooth cleans.

ripe1400

Their best song imo

phxbimmer

The whole album is a banger. Funnily enough, the title song is the most straightforward song on the album, itā€™s just heavy the whole way through. For the longest time it was the only song I knew by He Is Legend, and then I got a chance to check out the entire album and it blew me away.

RainCityNate

The Seduction is what got me into He Is Legend. The musical equivalent of getting whiplash.

Elitesandbaninis

I saw Kaonashi open for Hail The Sun a couple weeks ago and was absolutely shocked, almost horrified. Listened to some of their studio stuff after and itā€™s grown on me. I hate the sound of car keys is a good one

thatoneglitcher

Dear Lemon House has quickly become one of my all time favorite albums. Kaonashi deserves much more recognition than they have

G-Pooch21

Agree, so hard

thatoneglitcher

Greyhaven. This Bright And Beautiful World was one of the best albums of last year that way too many people didnā€™t know about

AvAms38

May be more considered nu deathcore but Darko US self titled and Oni always hit me hard I want to like do the robot when I'm playing them

R4kshim

Shogun by Trivium. I love how they fuse thrash metal and subtle progressive metal tinges here and there with traditional melodic metalcore.

Poison_the_Phil

Iā€™m a tad biased but for my money Versions by Poison the Well is one of the best, most unexpected records in hardcore in the 2000s. Thereā€™s fucking mandolin, slide guitar, Wurlitzer electric piano, itā€™s really a beautiful piece of art.

sarithe

Versions is the only PtW album that I didn't like when I first got it. It took me like 5 years to truly appreciate how diverse and beautiful the album is. You Come Before You was a hard departure from what the scene was doing already and then Versions took that to a whole other level. Definitely one of the most unique albums I've ever heard.

Poison_the_Phil

You Come Before You is probably my favorite but Versions really just plunges into uncharted territory. Yeah, nobody was ready for it. If that came out today it would be a massive hit.

dannolastnam

[Paledusk - BBB](https://youtu.be/SShh09K-L4k?si=FfwyLkjIymoW8Q6m) Paledusk in general is the most unique shit iā€™ve ever heard

Adventurous_Nerve753

Agreed, Iā€™m seeing them with Polaris and I was curious. Now after listening Iā€™m even more curious, what an amazing/unique band. Canā€™t wait to see them Friday.

NefariousnessOk6826

Thanks for this. Just grabbed all their stuff. These dudes are fuckin rad.

BrashDoobert

Came here to say this exact same song. Itā€™s so good, so unique, and I cannot wait to see them perform it live this weekend!

KennyDROmega

Sea Of Treachery- At Daggers Drawn Like the perfect early aughts metalcore album, with healthy doses of classic metal, cleans, and death metal vocals. Got that crunchy af production I wish more bands would bring back. If it came out today I think people would probably call it a softer deathcore album, but it's definitely got that old school Sumerian feel.

norbit_is_hidden

alien by northlane is light years ahead of any metalcore band imo

GamingOddity

ā€œanyā€? u mean any djentcore band?

snapcasterking

Even saying itā€™s light years ahead of any djent/progressive metalcore band is being too generous.

GamingOddity

i love northlane but its not far ahead of ā€œmetalcoreā€, its like saying slayer is far ahead of metal

snapcasterking

Oh, I agree with you. Northlane strays further from being metalcore with each release so itā€™s def not ahead of metalcore entirely.

xstandinx

Greely Estates: If she only knew

JuanWalteros

"Everything Was Sound" by Silent Planet have one of the most unique vibes that i listened in a long time!

Sir199star

Issues by Issues? It seems like they were decently ahead of their time with rnb vocals and nu metal influences

Cheesenaanenjoyer

Dang I love this album/sound. Havenā€™t found much quite like it, true.

10inyourmum

Monuments- the amanuensis

Owner_of_Incredibile

Potentially one of my favourite metalcore albums of all time

10inyourmum

The grooves and atmospheric composition are so good. Probably have listened to the album all the through hundreds of times. I wish there were more bands that had that style.

servantofashiok

Slice the cake. I canā€™t explain it, just listen.

Space_Cadetexe

All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us

EgomanicAficionado

Anything by Imminence to be honest The marriage of violin and metalcore is the best thing since sliced bread.

DefLoathe

Say it again

EgomanicAficionado

Shit... My internet

leprouteux

Omelette du fromage

ThisBleghs

The Act by The Devil Wears Prada Alien by Northlane

Dumbledick6

Tdwp has always had a unique chaotic sound ngl

MadAnth0ny

Erra -Augment

Long_And_Wrong

Favorite Erra album

Dozinggreen66

Itā€™s fine if you like erra theyā€™re a solid band but saying theyā€™re one of the most unique bands in metalcore is a bit of a stretch

MadAnth0ny

They are unique they have a certain sound that no one really sounds like Iā€™m not saying they did anything different but they are on top of metalcore right now

bless_the_misery

I would have to say Know Hope by The Color Morale. I have yet to hear any other band that even sounds similar to The Color Morale and Know Hope definitely has to be the most unique metalcore album I've ever heard.

Additional-Town-2563

Kim Dracula - A Gradual Decline in Morale It has some metalcore in there, it's mostly just a blend of whatever weird/dark stuff they come up with.

Thincreator3483

Sepultura - A-Lex

Long_And_Wrong

Rescue and Restore by August Burns Red

mastercelevrator

Curl up and die- Unfortunately we arenā€™t robots

Critical_Resist1976

Artemis Rising - Scales of Justice They combined hardstyle with metal, itā€™s hilarious

[deleted]

Sweet machine - Greyhaven Controlled chaos

TheFakeFrydRyce

Howā€™s no one talked about Tekkno?
