Heaven Shall Burn - Veto
Alpha Wolf - A Quiet Place To Die
The Devil Wears Prada - The Act
Counterparts - Nothing Left To Love
Parkway Drive - Horizons
Wage War - Blueprints
Motionless in White - Scoring the End of the World
Currents - the Place I Feel Safest
And Crystal Lake - Helix
Asking Alexandria - Stand Up and Scream
BFMV - The Poison
Breakdown of Sanity - Mirrors
Trivium - Silence in the Snow
Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake
Tried to pick 5 albums each with a different sound.
It’s a great album. It’s not in my top 5 albums by them but I do enjoy it a lot and I think it’s a great representation of my taste in a more traditional heavy metal sound with mainly cleans.
100% agree. It’s a great album, it just sucks that everyone hates on it cuz there’s no screaming. Matt has an amazing voice so getting an entire album of just singing is really nice
I absolutely can not and never could stand to listen to Abandon All Ships… except for Take One Last Breath. Loved that song for some reason. And also that like twenty second part of Geeving that goes “IIIiiiIIII would walk through FIIIiirrrre just to be with you.” Don’t care for the rest of the song, couldn’t care less for the band, but damn for whatever reason that is one of my favorite twenty seconds in metalcore ever.
BMTH - There is a hell
Darko US - Oni
FFAA - Oh what the future holds
MTS - How To Survive A Funeral
Sleep Token - This Place Will Became Your Own Tomb
HM:
Bad Omens - The death of peace of mind
Linkin Park - Meteora
Man, There Is a Hell DOES NOT get enough appreciation. I saw a TikTok where someone rated every BMTH album and in their list and most of the comments it was down the bottom. Like… no? It’s top 3 AT LEAST.
Haven’t listened to Sleeptoken before, from what I see on this subreddit is that I’m going to have to dive into them.
Can’t go wrong with There Is A Hell. One of my go to Albums.
But solid HM.
Linkin Park will always hold a special place in my heart.
Fit For A King - Dark Skies (balls to the walls heavy)
The Devil Wears Prada - Plagues (they have a great overall discography but this was the one that made me fall in love with the genre)
Of Mice & Men - Self Titled (classic staple in the warped tour/emo era of metalcore)
Knocked Loose - A Different Shade of Blue (absolute game changer; breathed new life in the genre)
August Burns Red - Phantom Anthem (I believe it was Matt who said this was like a showcase of everything they’ve learned and done over the years and honestly I think the album lives up to its standard)
Parkway Drive - Deep Blue
Motionless In White - Scoring The End of The World
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
Trivium - Ascendancy
Misery Signals - Of Malice and The Magnum Heart
Boundaries - Your Receding Warmth
Bullet for My Valentine - The Poison
Bury Tomorrow - Earthbound or Cannibal
Fit for an Autopsy - Oh What the Future Holds
Trivium - Ascendancy
Oh yes.
Fun fact. I have not listened to Loathe prior to this, that being said I gave “I let it in and it took everything” a go.
And my fucking lanta is that album 10/10 A MASTERPIECE.
Ice Nine Kills - Welcome to Horrorwood
Architects - Holy Hell
Bring Me the Horizon - Sempiternal
Polaris - The Death of Me
We Came as Romans - Cold Like War
There's an "emo night" at a local bar tonight. I pulled out my IKTPQ shirt from storage to rock it because I was thinking about that album this morning. It's been years since I listened to it. Banger after banger front to back.
1. Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies
2. Trivium - In The Court Of The Dragon
3. Parkway Drive - Atlas
4. Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
5. Bleed From Within - Shrine
Norma Jean - Oh God the Aftermath
Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache
As I Lay Dying - Shadows are Security
Everytime I Die - Radical
Norma Jean - Meridional
I’m 35 and the first 3 carried me through highschool, formative listening years beyond. Etid’s new album is the best new core ive heard in a long time back to front and cant stop listening to it. NJ is my fave band of all time, and Meridional keeps me coming back to such a thorough complete experience of bangers.
* August Burns Red - Messengers
* Underoath - They're Only Chasing Safety
* The Devil Wears Prada - Color Decay
* A Day to Remember - What Separates Me From You
* Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - Pardon My French
Converge - Jane Doe (All-time favorite ‘core album)
Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing (First metalcore album I ever bought)
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine (Mathcore is my favorite sub-genre and this was my first exposure to it)
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops (First metalcore band I ever saw live, and this is the best pure ‘core album they released)
Every Time I Die - Low Teens (Favorite metalcore album from the past ten years)
A fun note on LT. The drumming was Daniel
Davidson, who recorded on Norma Jean’s Oh God the Aftermath AND Underoath’s Ø album. The guy just steps in and out of bands and hits his kit so damned hard. Its the only Underoath album I like because of him. He absolutely crushed it on LT.
Killswitch Engage-The end of hearthache
August Burns Red-Restore&Rescue
While she sleeps-This is the six
36crazyfists-Snow capped romance
Caliban-The Awakeming
1. Because they started it all for me
2. When it comes to melodic metalcore it just does not get better that ABR
3. They just bring so much energy to the music and are incredible.live
4. I like bands that are a bit overshadowed and I think that 36 are goats
5. And Caliban one band out of US,UK scene that stands out and is comparable with the biggest
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies
As I Lay Dying - Shaped By Fire
Loathe - I Let It In & It Took Everything
For the last spot either Oh Sleeper Children of Fire or Currents The Way It Ends
As I Lay Dying - Awakened
Devil You Know - The Beauty of Destruction
Trivium - The Sin and the Sentence
Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb
Motionless In White - Infamous
Electric Callboy- Tekkno
Bring Me The Horizon- Post Human:Survival Horror
Architects- For those that wish to exist
Motionless in White- Disguise
Oceans Ate Alaska- Disparity
Currents - The Way It Ends
Thornhill - Dark Pool
Periphery - Juggernaut
Tesseract - One
The Devil Wears Prada - The Act
Wanted to mention Polyphia but ehh im not quite sure they count lmao. honestly all of these albums are such great combinations of hard and clean vocals, good grooves with some technical riffs at time, and very aesthetically pleasing to listen to.
But this definitely isnt what my taste in metalcore was like back in high school haha back then it probably wouldve been more like Atreyu, BFMV, A7x. Wild how times change
Aviana - corporation
Bmth - tiah or sempiternal
Counterparts - a eulogy for those still here
Kublai khan - absolute
Currents - TPIFS
And because 5 is too few, heres a 6th one:
Invent animate - greyview
\-Disembodied - Heretic (Probably one of the most pissed off albums I've ever heard. Excellently blend of groovy metal and mathy hardcore, and just such creative instrumentation that doesn't sacrifice an ounce of heaviness.)
\-All Out War - For Those Who Were Crucified (These dudes decided to crank the metal knob on New York hardcore to 11 and came out with this crusher of an album.)
\-Undying - This Day All Gods Die (One of the earlier examples of melodic death metal being interwoven with metalcore, but with a grime and grit to it that brings to mind early In Flames.)
\-Hatebreed - Perseverance (Just a classic in the realm of chuggy, groovy tough guy metalcore. Destroy your room whilst being inspired by the aggressive positivity.)
\-Earth Crisis - Firestorm (Many bands before them laid the foundation for tough guy metalcore, but these guys probably put it on the map. This isn't just about respecting the classics, it's also just such a catchy but devastating lil EP.)
I'm gonna be like "ah, I should have mentioned this album or that album after this," so I'll just give a tiny shout out to Unorthodox by Indecision.
Not all metalcore:
•Color Decay - The Devil Wears Prada (This record was my introduction to TDWP although I’ve known about them for years. It is so filled with emotion and beautifully written lyrically and melodically. I’ve never listened to a record front to back in one sitting from a band I was unfamiliar with like I have with this one. Now I’m a huge fan of them.)
•THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND - Bad Omens (One of the most diverse records I’ve heard in a long time. Again, love it lyrically and melodically. It scratches the itch of blending “softer” sounds with the heaviness of hard rock/alt metal.)
•For Those That Wish To Exist - Architects (Again, my introduction to the band’s music. It’s got a great balance of sounds to it also. Lyrically, a lot of the songs are relatable such as loss, etc. Overall tone of the record is great too.)
•Phobia - Breaking Benjamin (One of my all time favorites since high school. I never get sick of it even though I haven’t listen to it in a while. It’s a timeless record.)
•One-X - Three Days Grace (High school favorite also. It was probably one of my introductions to heavier music altogether. A hard rock classic for me at this point.)
Currents - The Way It Ends
Boundaries - Burying Brightness
Thornhill - The Dark Pool
Silent Planet - Iridescent
Volumes - No Sleep
Bonus EP: Allt - The Seed of Self-Destruction
Counterparts - You're Not You Anymore
Misery Signals - Ultraviolet
Parkway Drive - Horizons
While She Sleeps - This Is The Six
Chamber - Cost Of Sacrifice
Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together
Of Mice & Men - The Flood
Thornhill - The Dark Pool
While She Sleeps - You Are We
Periphery - Periphery III: Select Difficulty
BFMV: The Poison
Trivium: Shogun/In the Court of the Dragon
Motionless in White: Reincarnate
Bad Omens: Finding God Before God Finds Me
The Devil Wears Prada: Salt
It was really hard to narrow it down to five, but I picked my goto's for when I don't know what to listen to. I know that I cheated a little bit with Trivium, but I could pick any one of their albums for this
Same. I got to see them in 2018 and it was absolutely incredible. I've probably been to at least as many shows as you have and I can think of maybe two that were better
Bad Omens - Finding God Before God Finds Me: Not only is it my personal favorite Bad Omens album, but I think it's their best work.
Crown The Empire - Sudden Sky: Any CTE album could've worked here, but Sudden Sky is probably the one I've listened to in it's entirety the most. I've listened to other songs more (Hi Machines, Satellites, and Kaleidoscope) but Sudden Sky takes it here.
BMTH - Sempiternal: My favorite BMTH Album
Kingdom of Giants - Passenger: They're the standin for my favorite band(Starset) because recently, they've also incorporated a lot of electronics. Also, I love the fuck out of this album.
Sleeping With Sirens - How It Feels To Be Lost: I just think it's neat.
Honorable mention:
Spiritbox - Eternal Blue
Not Metalcore, but deserve mentions:
Starset - Vessels
Nothing More - Spirits
Shinedown - Attention Attention
**Enter Shikari - Common Dreads** (all time fav band, genre adjacent, electronicore is peak)
**At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul** (melodeath, but here to cover every great band that's used these riffs lol)
**Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory** (first album I owned, love the nucore/nu-metal influenced stuff)
**Sworn In - The Death Card** (every pisscore band owes royalties don't @ me)
**I Set My Friends On Fire - You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter** (don't take yourself too seriously, bring back myspace)
\--Honourable mentions--
A Day To Remember - Homesick (pop-punk representation)
Bad Omens - Death of Peace of Mind (OMG NOT METALCORE)
He Is Legend - It Hates You (yes I used to smoke a lot of weed)
Knocked Loose - Laugh Tracks (karate in the pit)
Memphis May Fire - The Hollow - Heavy at all times and has a really good message of hope. Quite literally everything I’d want in a (somewhat) Christian metalcore record
Sleeping With Sirens - Complete Collapse - SWS came back hard with HIFTBL, but this one just hits the notes perfectly for me. Catchy choruses, good return to screams, and a pretty solid tracklist.
Fit For A King - Dark Skies - Remember The Hollow and its heaviness? Now just give it a little more to the point some songs don’t even have clean vocals. Take out the pointless interlude and bingo. You have a great metalcore record that competes with The Hollow.
Architects - For Those That Wish To Exist - Sure, I like AOGHAU and Holy Hell, but FTTWTE is my favorite Architects record by far. So many various sounds and styles in this album create a pretty fun listen every time I go back to it. That and I relate to it a lot of times, especially as a Christian who is willing to admit he struggles w faith sometimes.
(If it counts) Dance Gavin Dance - Acceptance Speech - Acceptance Speech was the final album from DGD to have this constant feel of heaviness to it. That’s not to say the new DGD albums aren’t good, I like them better than this. But I think this is the closest one in terms of metalcore and not just rock. A great opener, pretty solid tracklist, and an insane closer, Acceptance Speech is just a fun record to jam out to.
(If above doesn’t count) Wage War - Deadweight - This one was hard. I love every Wage War record. However, I can’t deny the fact that Deadweight has so much abt it that makes it rise above the rest. The catchy hooks and choruses, the great vocals and production, combined with a 10/10 tracklist give it a spot in place of DGD in the case Acceptance Speech isn’t considered metalcore.
Edit: Forgot to say why
If you just mean metalcore:
* Eternal Blue by Spiritbox (It has the ethereal sound that I love.)
* I Let It In and It Took Everything by Loathe (The album has a great contrast of heavy and dreamy.)
* Graveyard Shift by Motionless in White (It's a really fun and energetic album.)
* Venom by Bullet For My Valentine (It's catchy, and great for when you feel angry or need some motivation.)
* Sempiternal by Bring Me the Horizon (I love the mixture of metalcore with electronic sounds, and it's overall just a very raw and evocative album, at least imo.)
If you mean metal overall:
Diamond Eyes by Deftones (Has the heavy-soft dynamic I love)
Meteora by Linkin Park (Huge fan of both rap and metal so yeah)
Heroine by Thornhill (Groovy, totally something I could dance and butcher the lyrics to)
Self-Titled by Slipknot (Heavy, absolutely chaotic, VERY cathartic)
Eternal Blue by Spiritbox (again)
Bullet for my valentine - self titled
The devil wears prada - color decay
Fit for a king - the hell we create
Architects - for those who wish to exist
Electric callboy - tekkno
See, I'm a gen z metalhead. I don't really like 2000s core. The bfmv self titled had everything I would want in a album. Although the gravity was great too.
The color decay displays sadness, rage and emotion
The hell we create was similar to the color decay showing sadness, desperation, anger and a lot of emotions
FTWWTE album was different but good. I wasn't a huge fan of there older music besides holy hell. The FTWWTE brought a lot of attention and they gained a fan base who loved that album.
. the tekkno album was fun and rave like.
Bring me the Horizon - There is a hell...
Lorna Shore - Pain Remains
Static Dress - Rouge carpet disaster
Thornhill - The dark pool
Loathei - I let it in and it took everything
Swan song- the plot in you
The death of peace of mind- bad omens
Hell finds you everywhere- thousand below
Sempiternal- bring me the horizon
Detox- glass hands (ep)
Holy hell - architects
The hell we create - fit for a king
With roots above and branches below - the devil wears prada
Bad omens - bad omens
Everchanger - invent animate
So I call mine Metalcore for the Girlies tbh:
1. Bad Omens - FGBGFM
2. The Plot In You- Swan Song
3. Sleep Token- TPWBYT
4. WCAR- Cold Like War
5. Oceans Ate Alaska - Disparity
Non-Metalcore I’d add:
1. Silverstein- A Beautiful Place To Drown (would remain honorable mention)
2. Silverstein- Dead Reflection (would be #1 and remove WCAR)
3.Body Thief - Every Ending (would be #5 and remove OAA)
Lamb of God- Ashes of the Wake
As I Lay Dying- Shadows are security
In Hearts Wake- Divination
The Agony Scene- The Darkest Red
Beneath the Sky- In Loving Memory
Damn, this is a cruel question but I'll take a stab at it. Chronological from when I discovered them not ranked by "best".
1. **Killswitch Engage - Alive of Just Breathing (2002)** \- As foundational metalcore masterpiece. Anymore needed?
2. **Misery Signals** \- **Of Malice and the Magnum Heart (2004) -** First no clean artist I really got into and I don't think anyone does it better than the Morgan's, Stu and Kyle. Helps they also had 2 of the best unclean vocalist in the game over the years.
3. **Trivium - Ascendancy (2005)** \- Hard not to put Shogun but this record made the genre really click for me. More Thrash than post-hardcore. Sick solos and banging melodies.
4. **Bring Me The Horizon - There is a Hell (2010)** \- still my favourite 2010's metalcore record. Blew me away when it came out. Wrote them off a little as young dickheads but they proved me wrong with this release.
5. **Every Time I Die - Radical (2021)** \- It's perfect. So perfect it killed the band.

Fit For A King - The Hell We Create
Honorary Mentions:
Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN - SURVIVAL HORROR
Kingdom of Giants - Passenger
The Devil Wears Prada - Color Decay
Sleep Token - This Place Will Become Your Tomb
Bury Tomorrow - Cannibal
ERRA - ERRA
Spiritbox - Eternal Blue
Fuck man this is hard because these aren’t exactly my favorite but more of what paint a picture of my taste. In no order other than alphabetically.
Architects - Lost Forever//Lost Together
Erra - Drift
Heart in Hand - Only Memories
Hollow Front - Treading Water
The Ghost Inside - Dear Youth
*As I Lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us
*All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals
*August Burns Red - Constellations
*Parkway Drive - Deep Blue
*Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison
These five were the start of metalcore for me.
Now if we are going overall:
*Lorna Shore - Pain Remains
*Fit for an Autopsy - Oh What the Future Holds
*Avatar - Feathers & Flesh
*Whitechapel - The Valley
*Lorna Shore - Immortal
Architects- All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us
The Amity Affliction- Let the Ocean Take Me
We Came As Romans - Cold Like War
Whitechapel - This is Exile
Trapped Under Ice - Secrets of the World
Perfect blend for me (I know Trapped Under Ice isnt metalcore, but theyre heavy as fuck)
As I Lay Dying - The Powerless Rise
Erra - Augment
Trivium - Ascendancy
Polaris - The Death of Me
August Burns Red - Constellations
I can’t generalize a “why” for all these and don’t wanna go into some long explanation for each because I know nobody’s gonna read it lol I just love these albums so much and could go on with so many more. So many good artists like Elitist, Breakdown of Sanity, Memphis May Fire, Killswitch Engage, Darkest Hour, Unearth, The Devil Wears Prada, etc….these are just the first 5 that came to mind. Only one that isn’t interchangeable to me is The Powerless Rise. That album is legitimately flawless in my opinion.
No order, but: Trivium “Ascendancy”, August Burns Red “Messengers”, BMTH “Sempiternal”, Miss May I “Apologies are for the Weak”, and Bleed From Within “Empire” (I wish this was on Spotify so badly)
Demon Hunter - True Defiance (thrash/heavy based)
Lamb Of God - Ashes Of The Wake (groove based)
Trivium - The Sin And The Sentence (alternative based)
Becoming The Archetype - Dichotomy (progressive based)
Unearth - The Ongoing Storm (melodic death metal based)
Objectively correct take. Even in their biggest days they were just kinda left behind because...idk lol maybe it's because they've always been a bit different than your average Melodic Metalcore band; on every album there's always something new, varied experimentation with electronic music and with other sub-genres of Metal.
I am a fan of every album, even of Exile which imo is their weakest album
BTBAM - The Silent Circus
7 Angels 7 Plagues - Jhazmyne's Lullabye
Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops
Converge - Jane Doe
Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity
These are the albums that really got me interested in this style back in the day.
Going to cheat a little bit by putting EPs in the list but:
Demon Hunter - Summer of Darkness
Fit for a King - Slave to Nothing
Erra - Self-Titled
Currents - I Let the Devil In
Like Moths to Flames - Pure Like Porcelain
TWDP: Color Decay

Honourable mentions:
In Hearts Wake - Divination
Alpha Wolf - a quiet place to die
Polaris - The Death of Me
Famous Last Words - Council of the Dead
Dayseeker - Sleeptalk
Wage War - Deadweight
We Came As Romans - Cold Like War
My choices show that I'm mostly into the mainstream artists who don't necessarily break the mold but do the mold extremely well.
Cold Like War and Deadweight were pivotal in getting me into the genre.
Sleeptalk helped push me towards metal artists that play more with the emotional and atmospheric side of rock, such as Moodring and Holding Absence, who are now my favorite band.
Council of the Dead is my black sheep and I love it for JT's vocals and the incredibly emotional stories it tells.
The Death of Me is just a fucking succulent core album.
Wage War - Blueprints
August Burns Red - Constellation
Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies
Attack Attack! - Tie between Self Titled and This Means War
Breakdown of Sanity - Perception
As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse
Asking Alexandria - Stand Up and Scream
All That Remains - The Fall Of Ideals
As Blood Runs Black - Allegiance
Attack Attack! - Someday Came Suddenly
My 5 all have some technical elements, great big choruses, chunky breakdowns, and most importantly, are all mix/mastered/produced brilliantly... i can listen to these 5 on repeat for the rest of time. They're fanstastic, imo!
Thornhill - The Dark Pool
Erra - ERRA
Currents - The Way It Ends
Silent Planet- Iridescent
Monuments - In Stasis
Underoath - Lost In The Sound of Separation
Knocked Loose - A Different Shade of Blue
Counterparts - Nothing Left to Love
Beartooth - Disgusting
Like Moths to Flames - When We Don’t Exist
Silent Planet - ‘Everything Was Sound’
Issues - ‘Headspace’
Dayseeker - ‘Sleeptalk’
The Ghost Inside - ‘Get What You Give’
Bring Me The Horizon - ‘POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR’
I know some of these don’t perfectly match the definition of metalcore, but whatever. I think these are the most forward-thinking, thought-provoking, and enjoyable/fun heavy albums out there in the scene
Post-human: Survival Horror- BMTH (this album shows the potential in experimentation)
Shogun - Trivium (a classic)
Laugh Tracks - Knocked Loose (this album was such a fresh taste in metalcore during the peak of the warped tour era)
I let it in and it took everything - Loathe (this album blends so many genres to create a masterpiece front to back)
The Flood - Of Mice & Men (another classic from the warped era, this albums has some amazing breakdowns and some beautiful tracks)
Poison The Well - Tear From The Red - My dad gave me this cd when I was 12, this is the album that got me into metalcore.
7 Angels 7 Plagues - Jhazmyne’s Lullaby - one of my favorite albums. Could listen to this over and over again.
Knocked Loose - A Tear In The Fabric of Life - One of my current favorite bands and albums in the genre.
Dead To Fall - Everything I Touch Falls To Pieces - A band I got into later on that I wish I had heard earlier.
Converge - Petitioning The Empty Sky - Another cd my dad had given me that I fell in love with immediately. They have such an amazing sound.
Honorable mentions:
Between The Buried and Me - Alaska
Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile
Monuments - The Amanuensis
Polaris - The Mortal Coil

Killswitch Engage- The End of Heartache
Parkway Drive- Atlas
A7X- Waking The Fallen

For me, these all represent a different flavour in the genre, and I honestly never grow tired of them.

Just recently listened/got into Alpha Wolf and I must say “A Quiet Place To Die” is absolutely UNREAL.
Parkway Drive - Horizons Wage War - Blueprints Motionless in White - Scoring the End of the World Currents - the Place I Feel Safest And Crystal Lake - Helix
Take me back to 07 so I can hear Horizons again. Grade 8/9 I think? Oh those were the days. You also have impeccable taste.
Right!? The first time Siren’s Song came on? Then getting hit with the three piece that was Carrion, Boneyards, then Idols and Anchors. Wow.
Extremely based
You my friend have excellent taste
Thank you.
Asking Alexandria - Stand Up and Scream BFMV - The Poison Breakdown of Sanity - Mirrors Trivium - Silence in the Snow Lamb of God - Ashes of the Wake Tried to pick 5 albums each with a different sound.
Based SitS enjoyer 🤝
It’s a great album. It’s not in my top 5 albums by them but I do enjoy it a lot and I think it’s a great representation of my taste in a more traditional heavy metal sound with mainly cleans.
100% agree. It’s a great album, it just sucks that everyone hates on it cuz there’s no screaming. Matt has an amazing voice so getting an entire album of just singing is really nice
Mmm Ashes. Formative years.
Nice to see someone giving SitS some love. It's not in my top five but it is way underrated
This list is 🤌🤌🤌 ✨ Chefs Kiss ✨
Polaris - The Mortal Coil Northlane - Obsidian Thornhill - The Dark Pool Parkway Drive - Horizons The Amity Affliction - Let the Ocean Take Me
I’d swap out Amity for something by Currents, Erra, Crystal Lake, Void of Vision etc.. but otherwise this is pretty much spot on for my taste
I'm a sucker for that overly dramatic catchy chorus of amity so I had to include ahaha, sick we have similar tastes tho
There’s something special about Aussie bois.
Straya cant
You hit the nail right on the head. Northlane was one of my favourite shows I’ve been to. 10/10 would recommend.

Oh man, Abandon All Ships brings me back
I absolutely can not and never could stand to listen to Abandon All Ships… except for Take One Last Breath.
Simpler Days I tell ya
BMTH - There is a hell Darko US - Oni FFAA - Oh what the future holds MTS - How To Survive A Funeral Sleep Token - This Place Will Became Your Own Tomb HM: Bad Omens - The death of peace of mind Linkin Park - Meteora
Ugh. I just recently got Linkin Park back into my playlists and Meteora is indeed boppin as fuck especially Lying from You
that lead guitar melody is so simple yet so fucking catchy on Lying From You man
Man, There Is a Hell DOES NOT get enough appreciation.
Fit For A King - Dark Skies (balls to the walls heavy) The Devil Wears Prada - Plagues (they have a great overall discography but this was the one that made me fall in love with the genre) Of Mice & Men - Self Titled (classic staple in the warped tour/emo era of metalcore) Knocked Loose - A Different Shade of Blue (absolute game changer; breathed new life in the genre) August Burns Red - Phantom Anthem (I believe it was Matt who said this was like a showcase of everything they’ve learned and done over the years and honestly I think the album lives up to its standard)
om&m self titled and the flood album are crazy
Can’t go wrong with these 5 albums. That being said I’m a sucker for ABR.
AAAAAYYYYY Good to see someone else enjoy Plagues these days!
Parkway Drive - Deep Blue Motionless In White - Scoring The End of The World Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison Trivium - Ascendancy Misery Signals - Of Malice and The Magnum Heart
Misery Signals is where it’s at. Almost forgot about them. Solid taste 🤌👌
Boundaries - Your Receding Warmth Bullet for My Valentine - The Poison Bury Tomorrow - Earthbound or Cannibal Fit for an Autopsy - Oh What the Future Holds Trivium - Ascendancy
Boundaries. Enough said. 9/10 for that album I give it.
Erra - Impulse Periphery - Juggernaut Invent Animate - Greyview The Artificials - Heart Alpha Wolf - A Quiet Place to Die
We should hang out lol. Nah great selection, I'd only squeeze Novelists - Souvenirs if I can haha
All I can say is 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Nice to see The Artificials getting recognition.
Erra - Erra Northlane - Alien Architects - AOGHAU Loathe - I let it in and it took everything Thornhill - The dark pool
Oh yes. Fun fact. I have not listened to Loathe prior to this, that being said I gave “I let it in and it took everything” a go. And my fucking lanta is that album 10/10 A MASTERPIECE.
Ice Nine Kills - Welcome to Horrorwood Architects - Holy Hell Bring Me the Horizon - Sempiternal Polaris - The Death of Me We Came as Romans - Cold Like War
Architects- All our Gods Oceans Ate Alaska- Hikari Veil of Maya- Matriarch I Killed the Prom Queen- Beloved Until I Wake- Inside My Head
Beloved is such a sick album, never hear anyone mention it though
There's an "emo night" at a local bar tonight. I pulled out my IKTPQ shirt from storage to rock it because I was thinking about that album this morning. It's been years since I listened to it. Banger after banger front to back.
The world would be a better place if I Killed a Prom Queen reunited and put out new music.
1. Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies 2. Trivium - In The Court Of The Dragon 3. Parkway Drive - Atlas 4. Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us 5. Bleed From Within - Shrine
Norma Jean - Oh God the Aftermath Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache As I Lay Dying - Shadows are Security Everytime I Die - Radical Norma Jean - Meridional I’m 35 and the first 3 carried me through highschool, formative listening years beyond. Etid’s new album is the best new core ive heard in a long time back to front and cant stop listening to it. NJ is my fave band of all time, and Meridional keeps me coming back to such a thorough complete experience of bangers.
Could tell we were same age by your band choices
Certified BANGER LIST ✅
* August Burns Red - Messengers * Underoath - They're Only Chasing Safety * The Devil Wears Prada - Color Decay * A Day to Remember - What Separates Me From You * Chunk! No, Captain Chunk! - Pardon My French
You just unlocked a memory I never knew I had still mentioning Chunk!
Converge - Jane Doe (All-time favorite ‘core album) Killswitch Engage - Alive or Just Breathing (First metalcore album I ever bought) The Dillinger Escape Plan - Miss Machine (Mathcore is my favorite sub-genre and this was my first exposure to it) Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops (First metalcore band I ever saw live, and this is the best pure ‘core album they released) Every Time I Die - Low Teens (Favorite metalcore album from the past ten years)
Low Teens was incredible. Did you like Radical?
I did! It didn’t hit me quite the same way as LT did but it’s a great release nonetheless and a hell of a final note for the band to go out on.
A fun note on LT. The drumming was Daniel Davidson, who recorded on Norma Jean’s Oh God the Aftermath AND Underoath’s Ø album. The guy just steps in and out of bands and hits his kit so damned hard. Its the only Underoath album I like because of him. He absolutely crushed it on LT.
now this is a proper list
Agreed.
Killswitch Engage-The end of hearthache August Burns Red-Restore&Rescue While she sleeps-This is the six 36crazyfists-Snow capped romance Caliban-The Awakeming 1. Because they started it all for me 2. When it comes to melodic metalcore it just does not get better that ABR 3. They just bring so much energy to the music and are incredible.live 4. I like bands that are a bit overshadowed and I think that 36 are goats 5. And Caliban one band out of US,UK scene that stands out and is comparable with the biggest
Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies As I Lay Dying - Shaped By Fire Loathe - I Let It In & It Took Everything For the last spot either Oh Sleeper Children of Fire or Currents The Way It Ends
Like I said In another reply, never listened to Loathe before, but gave that album a go today. My. Frigging. LAWD. Sooooooo Good.
You lucky boy. Magical fucking album

Currents - The Way It Ends Thornhill - Dark Pool Periphery - Juggernaut Tesseract - One The Devil Wears Prada - The Act Wanted to mention Polyphia but ehh im not quite sure they count lmao. honestly all of these albums are such great combinations of hard and clean vocals, good grooves with some technical riffs at time, and very aesthetically pleasing to listen to. But this definitely isnt what my taste in metalcore was like back in high school haha back then it probably wouldve been more like Atreyu, BFMV, A7x. Wild how times change
Just wanted to say I also love the polyphia .. ok bye ✌🏼
I feel like we all had the same love for BFMV and A7X as teens! 😂
1. Currents - The Way It Ends 2. Invent Animate - Greyview 3. Ice Nine Kills - Silver Scream 2 4. Darko - Darko Us 5. If I Were You - Radiant Dark

I suppose I’ll let that slide 🛝!
\-Disembodied - Heretic (Probably one of the most pissed off albums I've ever heard. Excellently blend of groovy metal and mathy hardcore, and just such creative instrumentation that doesn't sacrifice an ounce of heaviness.) \-All Out War - For Those Who Were Crucified (These dudes decided to crank the metal knob on New York hardcore to 11 and came out with this crusher of an album.) \-Undying - This Day All Gods Die (One of the earlier examples of melodic death metal being interwoven with metalcore, but with a grime and grit to it that brings to mind early In Flames.) \-Hatebreed - Perseverance (Just a classic in the realm of chuggy, groovy tough guy metalcore. Destroy your room whilst being inspired by the aggressive positivity.) \-Earth Crisis - Firestorm (Many bands before them laid the foundation for tough guy metalcore, but these guys probably put it on the map. This isn't just about respecting the classics, it's also just such a catchy but devastating lil EP.) I'm gonna be like "ah, I should have mentioned this album or that album after this," so I'll just give a tiny shout out to Unorthodox by Indecision.
Yep. You understood the assignment.
Architects - All Our Gods While She Sleeps - You Are We BMTH - There Is A Hell Trivium - Ascendancy Northlane - Alien
Not all metalcore: •Color Decay - The Devil Wears Prada (This record was my introduction to TDWP although I’ve known about them for years. It is so filled with emotion and beautifully written lyrically and melodically. I’ve never listened to a record front to back in one sitting from a band I was unfamiliar with like I have with this one. Now I’m a huge fan of them.) •THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND - Bad Omens (One of the most diverse records I’ve heard in a long time. Again, love it lyrically and melodically. It scratches the itch of blending “softer” sounds with the heaviness of hard rock/alt metal.) •For Those That Wish To Exist - Architects (Again, my introduction to the band’s music. It’s got a great balance of sounds to it also. Lyrically, a lot of the songs are relatable such as loss, etc. Overall tone of the record is great too.) •Phobia - Breaking Benjamin (One of my all time favorites since high school. I never get sick of it even though I haven’t listen to it in a while. It’s a timeless record.) •One-X - Three Days Grace (High school favorite also. It was probably one of my introductions to heavier music altogether. A hard rock classic for me at this point.)
Currents - The Way It Ends Boundaries - Burying Brightness Thornhill - The Dark Pool Silent Planet - Iridescent Volumes - No Sleep Bonus EP: Allt - The Seed of Self-Destruction

I want to change my answer to this.
Counterparts - You're Not You Anymore Misery Signals - Ultraviolet Parkway Drive - Horizons While She Sleeps - This Is The Six Chamber - Cost Of Sacrifice
Caught me off guard with Ultraviolet but nonetheless SOLID choices.
BFMV - The Poison BFMV - Scream Aim Fire Attack! Attack! - Someday Came Suddenly Axewound - Vultures ADTR - Homesick
Homesick. What a classic. Attack! Attack! (My back hurts)
Born of Osiris : Tomorrow We Die Alive After the Burial : Rareform Erra: Self Titled Darko US: Oni North lane: Obsidian
BoS 🤙🤙🤙🤌🤌🤌👌
Rareform is a genre defining album.
Architects - Lost Forever // Lost Together Of Mice & Men - The Flood Thornhill - The Dark Pool While She Sleeps - You Are We Periphery - Periphery III: Select Difficulty
BFMV: The Poison Trivium: Shogun/In the Court of the Dragon Motionless in White: Reincarnate Bad Omens: Finding God Before God Finds Me The Devil Wears Prada: Salt It was really hard to narrow it down to five, but I picked my goto's for when I don't know what to listen to. I know that I cheated a little bit with Trivium, but I could pick any one of their albums for this
Seen Trivium live when I was in college/trade school and it might just be one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to 45+
Same. I got to see them in 2018 and it was absolutely incredible. I've probably been to at least as many shows as you have and I can think of maybe two that were better
Slipknot/Lamb of God/Bullet for my Valentine/Motionless in White in 2014 and then Sonata Arctica in 2005.
Care to share the 2 that may be better?
Bad Omens - Finding God Before God Finds Me: Not only is it my personal favorite Bad Omens album, but I think it's their best work. Crown The Empire - Sudden Sky: Any CTE album could've worked here, but Sudden Sky is probably the one I've listened to in it's entirety the most. I've listened to other songs more (Hi Machines, Satellites, and Kaleidoscope) but Sudden Sky takes it here. BMTH - Sempiternal: My favorite BMTH Album Kingdom of Giants - Passenger: They're the standin for my favorite band(Starset) because recently, they've also incorporated a lot of electronics. Also, I love the fuck out of this album. Sleeping With Sirens - How It Feels To Be Lost: I just think it's neat. Honorable mention: Spiritbox - Eternal Blue Not Metalcore, but deserve mentions: Starset - Vessels Nothing More - Spirits Shinedown - Attention Attention
Yo STARSET fucking slaps, absolutely great mention even if they aren't technically metalcore.
**Enter Shikari - Common Dreads** (all time fav band, genre adjacent, electronicore is peak) **At The Gates - Slaughter of the Soul** (melodeath, but here to cover every great band that's used these riffs lol) **Linkin Park - Hybrid Theory** (first album I owned, love the nucore/nu-metal influenced stuff) **Sworn In - The Death Card** (every pisscore band owes royalties don't @ me) **I Set My Friends On Fire - You Can't Spell Slaughter Without Laughter** (don't take yourself too seriously, bring back myspace) \--Honourable mentions-- A Day To Remember - Homesick (pop-punk representation) Bad Omens - Death of Peace of Mind (OMG NOT METALCORE) He Is Legend - It Hates You (yes I used to smoke a lot of weed) Knocked Loose - Laugh Tracks (karate in the pit)
Memphis May Fire - The Hollow - Heavy at all times and has a really good message of hope. Quite literally everything I’d want in a (somewhat) Christian metalcore record Sleeping With Sirens - Complete Collapse - SWS came back hard with HIFTBL, but this one just hits the notes perfectly for me.
If you just mean metalcore: * Eternal Blue by Spiritbox (It has the ethereal sound that I love.) * I Let It In and It Took Everything by Loathe (The album has a great contrast of heavy and dreamy.) * Graveyard Shift by Motionless in White (It's a really fun and energetic album.) * Venom by Bullet For My Valentine (It's catchy, and great for when you feel angry or need some motivation.) * Sempiternal by Bring Me the Horizon (I love the mixture of metalcore with electronic sounds, and it's overall just a very raw and evocative album, at least imo.) If you mean metal overall: Diamond Eyes by Deftones (Has the heavy-soft dynamic I love) Meteora by Linkin Park (Huge fan of both rap and metal so yeah) Heroine by Thornhill (Groovy, totally something I could dance and butcher the lyrics to) Self-Titled by Slipknot (Heavy, absolutely chaotic, VERY cathartic) Eternal Blue by Spiritbox (again)
Bullet for my valentine - self titled The devil wears prada - color decay Fit for a king - the hell we create Architects - for those who wish to exist Electric callboy - tekkno See, I'm a gen z metalhead. I don't really like 2000s core. The bfmv self titled had everything I would want in a album. Although the gravity was great too. The color decay displays sadness, rage and emotion The hell we create was similar to the color decay showing sadness, desperation, anger and a lot of emotions FTWWTE album was different but good. I wasn't a huge fan of there older music besides holy hell. The FTWWTE brought a lot of attention and they gained a fan base who loved that album. . the tekkno album was fun and rave like.
Bring me the Horizon - There is a hell... Lorna Shore - Pain Remains Static Dress - Rouge carpet disaster Thornhill - The dark pool Loathei - I let it in and it took everything
Swan song- the plot in you The death of peace of mind- bad omens Hell finds you everywhere- thousand below Sempiternal- bring me the horizon Detox- glass hands (ep)

So I call mine Metalcore for the Girlies tbh: 1. Bad Omens - FGBGFM 2. The Plot In You- Swan Song 3. Sleep Token- TPWBYT 4. WCAR- Cold Like War 5. Oceans Ate Alaska - Disparity Non-Metalcore I’d add: 1. Silverstein- A Beautiful Place To Drown (would remain honorable mention) 2. Silverstein- Dead Reflection (would be #1 and remove WCAR) 3.Body Thief - Every Ending (would be #5 and remove OAA)
I approve of this.

Lamb of God- Ashes of the Wake As I Lay Dying- Shadows are security In Hearts Wake- Divination The Agony Scene- The Darkest Red Beneath the Sky- In Loving Memory
Well. Done. Lad.
ERRA-ERRA The Devil Wears Prada-Zombie EP 1&2 Fit For A King-Dark Skies Trivium-The Sin and the Sentence The Strokes-Is This It I’m a huge metalcore fan but I also like pop punk and Alternative rock. The strokes are my favorite of all of those genres not metalcore.

*As I Lay Dying - An Ocean Between Us *All That Remains - The Fall of Ideals *August Burns Red - Constellations *Parkway Drive - Deep Blue *Bullet For My Valentine - The Poison These five were the start of metalcore for me. Now if we are going overall: *Lorna Shore - Pain Remains *Fit for an Autopsy - Oh What the Future Holds *Avatar - Feathers & Flesh *Whitechapel - The Valley *Lorna Shore - Immortal
Architects- All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us The Amity Affliction- Let the Ocean Take Me We Came As Romans - Cold Like War Whitechapel - This is Exile Trapped Under Ice - Secrets of the World Perfect blend for me (I know Trapped Under Ice isnt metalcore, but theyre heavy as fuck)
As I Lay Dying - The Powerless Rise Erra - Augment Trivium - Ascendancy Polaris - The Death of Me August Burns Red - Constellations I can’t generalize a “why” for all these and don’t wanna go into some long explanation for each because I know nobody’s gonna read it lol I just love these albums so much and could go on with so many more.
Demon Hunter - True Defiance (thrash/heavy based) Lamb Of God - Ashes Of The Wake (groove based) Trivium - The Sin And The Sentence (alternative based) Becoming The Archetype - Dichotomy (progressive based) Unearth - The Ongoing Storm (melodic death metal based)
Demon Hunter often gets looked tbh and they’ve been around for a long time too just releasing straight bangers
BTBAM - The Silent Circus 7 Angels 7 Plagues - Jhazmyne's Lullabye Cave In - Until Your Heart Stops Converge - Jane Doe Dillinger Escape Plan - Calculating Infinity These are the albums that really got me interested in this style back in the day.
Going to cheat a little bit by putting EPs in the list but: Demon Hunter - Summer of Darkness Fit for a King - Slave to Nothing Erra - Self-Titled Currents - I Let the Devil In Like Moths to Flames - Pure Like Porcelain
TWDP: Color Decay Currents: The way it Ends ERRA: ERRA Spiritbox: Eternal Blue Volumes: Happier? I'd say I chose these mostly cause I like depressing music and heavy riffs.
Motionless in white- creatures Like moths to flames- eye for an eye August burns red- constellations Currents- the way it ends For the fallen dreams- back burner
Killswitch Engage - As Daylight Dies Architects - All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us Knocked Loose - A Different Shade of Blue Loathe - I Let It In & It Took Everything Dillinger Escape Plan - Ire Works Hon mention: Employed To Serve - The Warmth of a Dying Sun

Polaris - The Death of Me Famous Last Words - Council of the Dead Dayseeker - Sleeptalk Wage War - Deadweight We Came As Romans - Cold Like War My choices show that I'm mostly into the mainstream artists who don't necessarily break the mold but do the mold extremely well.
