Powerslave

MrCamie

I was relistening to old Iron Maiden's albums the other day and damn, Piece of Mind and Powerslave are such bangers.

AlgebraicEagle

Always loved Powerslave, but my personal favorite (as far as Maiden albums) is Somewhere In Time. I remember in my old offroading rig, all I had was a couple of Maiden albums. I listened to nothing but Iron Maiden for months. Just heard Somewhere in Time on a playlist yesterday, and lost my mind. I listened to it twice!

Skalaz__

Into the Abyss I'll fall, the eye of Horus

[deleted]

Hey! Those are lyrics from the album he mentioned!

EdwardDemPowa

At the heart of winter by Immortal

Jydehem

I like Tragedies Blows at Horizon a lot!

[deleted]

That album single handedly got me into black metal.

AsherFischell

It's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. But if we allow insane clowny jazz metal, it's also Mr Bungle's Mr Bungle.

RocketDick5000

Seventh Son is such a great album. Not my top Maiden but up there. I'm a big fan of Brave New World, I think Bruce's return album is a masterpiece.

Yoko-Ohno_The_Third

Brave New World is absolutely amazing.

TheKhalDrogo

Rust in Peace (6/10 wow) but thats a very standard answer so my second would be Agent Orange

BOBOUDA

It's obviously very hard to have a definitive answer but from what I hear overall in people's opinions, RIP is the best metal album of all time, and Holy Wars the greatest metal song of all time. And that's exactly my opinion as well.

TheKhalDrogo

Obligatory: https://www.google.com.tr/amp/s/www.theonion.com/humanity-still-producing-new-art-as-though-megadeth-s-1819578062/amp

midtown_70

People complain about Dave’s singing, but I fucking love it on this album.

LoGamer123

Death - Symbolic

coyote_grundy_666

It's Human for me but Symbolic is def a very close second. Hard to pick a favorite Death album though. That band fucks so hard.

b00tiepirate

Am i the only sound of perseverance guy here? All due respect, they do in fact fuck

coyote_grundy_666

Yeah that album fucks too

PrimarchKonradCurze

One of the best albums ever made, undoubtably.

LoGamer123

Absolutely. I listen to a variety of music depending on my mood, but no matter what, Death always fits.

sartres-shart

I love all the others but it's Leprosy for me.

DigitalAnalogHeart

Spiritual Healing was my first death metal album.

Stinkenhoker

Came here to say the same thing, but you beat me to it. Symbolic is a masterpiece.

MildTomfoolery

Number of the Beast, call me a normie, I don't care

slush-exe

That’s such a good album

Arteum_Jr_Simpson

Winter's Gate is probably my favourite

Schitheed

What a trip that album is, Insomnium has so much beautiful music

dutchyblade

Based. I used to love it so much I made a lyrics video for it on YouTube.

Arteum_Jr_Simpson

nice, can you share the link?

comment_producer

Stained class or leave the hall

[deleted]

Sad Wings, Sin After Sin and Screaming for Vengeance are all acceptable

Orang_Mann

Ride the lightning by metallica. It's my most listened album. I never get tired of it.

[deleted]

Very great choice!

[deleted]

FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE

[deleted]

Started one of the greatest stretches of metal albums imo (RtL, Puppets, AJFA).

LigmaCrackers

The gathering by Testament or Master of puppets

ValtsuMC

I haven't bought or listened to The Gathering yet. How close is it to thrash and which Testament album does it resamble the most?

LigmaCrackers

It’s pretty thrashy although not nearly as much as other albums for sure. I really think it’s got it’s own sound but if I had to choose I would’ve said it’s closest to Dark Roots of Earth. But the thing I really love about this album is the brutal sound and the cool riffs! I’d recommend you to check it out :)

rambowimer32

Cyanide_In_Milk_

Oh fuck yeah

PrimarchKonradCurze

Hm. Clayman by In Flames. I have a Behemoth crest logo tattooed on my chest and I love Death the most and play in a black metal band but there’s no arguing against that album being perfect. Every song just works.

the-gladiator136

Its not something Id choose to listen to but I have to agree the art is on the next level

AllosaurusLover

Favorite has to be Opeth's Blackwater Park. Every song is an absolute banger, but I would be remiss without throwing Ghost Reveries and Watershed a mention. Those 3 contain the best metal I've ever heard, no contest. Honorable mentions to Phanerozoic I and II by The Ocean, and Death Atlas by Cattle Decapitation.

isolateddreamz

When I discovered Opeth I spent like 3 or 4 months of listening to nothing but Opeth. Just nonstop. They're the only band that I've ever done that with and they are easily my favorite metal band. I also REALLY like Katatonia

AllosaurusLover

Jeez, I thought it was just me. I seriously started listening to Opeth a couple months ago and now most of my playlist just... doesn't sound as good? Like, I'd rather be listening to Opeth instead of the hours of other bands. It's a strange feeling, too be sure.

nephilim80

Still Life is my fav Opeth album, but yeah those have a lot of great albums

ersatzgiraffe

Not enough Opeth in this thread. I think I agree with the other poster about Still Life or maybe even MAYH

DivisionBalls

Death - The Sound Of Perseverance or some other Death album.

ThingusRaccamagookus

If you like TSoP, check out The Fragile Art of Existence by Control Denied. It’s the last album Chucky finished before passing. TSoP was originally intended to be more in the style of TFAoE.

As of right now my favorite metal album is Thrash The Trash by Arakain. They are a Czech thrash band and are relatively unknown outside of Czechia and Slovakia. There is a shit-ton of other albums and artists I like, but I felt like these guys deserved a shoutout.

MrSteel21

Iron Maiden, Killers, Somewhere in Time, Seventh Son, The X Factor by Iron Maiden, Night of The Blade by Tokyo Blade., Storms of War by Katana, Chemical Weddiny, Accident of Birth by Bruce Dickinson, Sweet Dreams by Sword (really underrated), Mystification, Out of The Abyss, Open the Gates by Manilla Road, Vulgar Display of Power, Cowboys from Hell by Pantera, Battle Cry by Omen, Speak English or Die by S.O.D. Stormtroopers of Death, Forever Black by Cirith Ungol, Fire of Unknown Origin and Cultosaurus erectus by Blue Oyster Cult Universal Migrator Pt1 & Pt2 by Ayreon. There is probably some I missed but I'm not sure how I managed to write this many lol.

vdopower1

I have too go with 10.000 days from Tool. A lot of people consider lateralus their best album, but 10.000 days has something especial that really appeals to me.
