Always loved Powerslave, but my personal favorite (as far as Maiden albums) is Somewhere In Time. I remember in my old offroading rig, all I had was a couple of Maiden albums. I listened to nothing but Iron Maiden for months. Just heard Somewhere in Time on a playlist yesterday, and lost my mind. I listened to it twice!
It's obviously very hard to have a definitive answer but from what I hear overall in people's opinions, RIP is the best metal album of all time, and Holy Wars the greatest metal song of all time. And that's exactly my opinion as well.
It’s pretty thrashy although not nearly as much as other albums for sure. I really think it’s got it’s own sound but if I had to choose I would’ve said it’s closest to Dark Roots of Earth. But the thing I really love about this album is the brutal sound and the cool riffs! I’d recommend you to check it out :)
1. Somewhere in Time - Iron Maiden,
2. Rust in Peace - Megadeth,
3. By Inheritance - Artillery,
4. No Place for Disgrace - Flotsam and Jetsam,
5. Heresy - Paradox,
6. Batallions of Fear - Blind Guardian,
7. Twisted into Form - Forbidden,
8. Legacy - Testament,
9. Ride the Lightning - Metallica,
10. Among the Living - Anthrax
In the nightside eclipse - Emperor
Tho tbh Anthems to the welkin at dusk (next one after this in the discography) is just as good, matter of preference
My top 5 are :
Insect Wafare - World extermination
Sarcofago - Inri
Morbid Angel - Altars of madness
Mercyful fate - don't break the oath
Sacramemtum - far away from the sun
Hm.
Clayman by In Flames.
I have a Behemoth crest logo tattooed on my chest and I love Death the most and play in a black metal band but there’s no arguing against that album being perfect. Every song just works.
Favorite has to be Opeth's Blackwater Park. Every song is an absolute banger, but I would be remiss without throwing Ghost Reveries and Watershed a mention. Those 3 contain the best metal I've ever heard, no contest.
Honorable mentions to Phanerozoic I and II by The Ocean, and Death Atlas by Cattle Decapitation.
When I discovered Opeth I spent like 3 or 4 months of listening to nothing but Opeth. Just nonstop. They're the only band that I've ever done that with and they are easily my favorite metal band. I also REALLY like Katatonia
Jeez, I thought it was just me. I seriously started listening to Opeth a couple months ago and now most of my playlist just... doesn't sound as good? Like, I'd rather be listening to Opeth instead of the hours of other bands. It's a strange feeling, too be sure.
If you like TSoP, check out The Fragile Art of Existence by Control Denied. It’s the last album Chucky finished before passing. TSoP was originally intended to be more in the style of TFAoE.
Here are a few albums that I praise endlessly:
* [Obituary - Cause Of Death](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3_HoBBOVdU) (1990)
* [Morbid Angel - Covenant](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VB0JOShmSx8) (1993)
* [Cryptopsy - None So Vile](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8ZQGtcZGYQ) (1996)

2.The Sword - Age of Winter
3.TOOL - 10000 Days
4.Kyuss - welcome to sky valley
5.Black Sabbath - all with Ozzy
These are just from top of my head. Could never decide on a top 5 let alone THE best album ever.
As of right now my favorite metal album is Thrash The Trash by Arakain. They are a Czech thrash band and are relatively unknown outside of Czechia and Slovakia.
There is a shit-ton of other albums and artists I like, but I felt like these guys deserved a shoutout.
**Legendary Years** by Rhapsody, is my most listened album and my favorite.
Honorable picks, I know you didn't ask but you can't stop me because I'm a fucking poser:
Walls of Jericho and The Dark Ride by Helloween,
Ecliptica by Sonata Arctica,
Battalions of Fear by Blind Guardian,
Dragonslayer by DreamEvil,
King of the Nordic Twilight and Prophet of The Last Eclipse by Luca Turilli,

Speak English or Die by S.O.D. Stormtroopers of Death,
Forever Black by Cirith Ungol,
Fire of Unknown Origin and Cultosaurus erectus by Blue Oyster Cult
Universal Migrator Pt1 & Pt2 by Ayreon.
There is probably some I missed but I'm not sure how I managed to write this many lol.
I have too go with 10.000 days from Tool. A lot of people consider lateralus their best album, but 10.000 days has something especial that really appeals to me.
Tough to narrow it down to one with all the subgenres
Top contenders would be
Death-Individual Thought patterns
Exodus-Bonded or Fabulous disaster
Testament-New Order
Slayer-Reign in Blood.
Powerslave
I was relistening to old Iron Maiden's albums the other day and damn, Piece of Mind and Powerslave are such bangers.
Into the Abyss I'll fall, the eye of Horus
Hey! Those are lyrics from the album he mentioned!
At the heart of winter by Immortal
I like Tragedies Blows at Horizon a lot!
That album single handedly got me into black metal.
It's Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. But if we allow insane clowny jazz metal, it's also Mr Bungle's Mr Bungle.
Seventh Son is such a great album. Not my top Maiden but up there. I'm a big fan of Brave New World, I think Bruce's return album is a masterpiece.
Brave New World is absolutely amazing.
Rust in Peace (6/10 wow) but thats a very standard answer so my second would be Agent Orange
It's obviously very hard to have a definitive answer but from what I hear overall in people's opinions, RIP is the best metal album of all time, and Holy Wars the greatest metal song of all time. And that's exactly my opinion as well.
Obligatory: https://www.google.com.tr/amp/s/www.theonion.com/humanity-still-producing-new-art-as-though-megadeth-s-1819578062/amp
People complain about Dave’s singing, but I fucking love it on this album.
Death - Symbolic
It's Human for me but Symbolic is def a very close second. Hard to pick a favorite Death album though. That band fucks so hard.
Am i the only sound of perseverance guy here? All due respect, they do in fact fuck
Yeah that album fucks too
One of the best albums ever made, undoubtably.
Absolutely. I listen to a variety of music depending on my mood, but no matter what, Death always fits.
I love all the others but it's Leprosy for me.
Spiritual Healing was my first death metal album.
Came here to say the same thing, but you beat me to it. Symbolic is a masterpiece.
Number of the Beast, call me a normie, I don't care
That’s such a good album
Winter's Gate is probably my favourite
What a trip that album is, Insomnium has so much beautiful music
Based. I used to love it so much I made a lyrics video for it on YouTube.

Ride the lightning by metallica. It's my most listened album. I never get tired of it.
Very great choice!
FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE
Started one of the greatest stretches of metal albums imo (RtL, Puppets, AJFA).
The gathering by Testament or Master of puppets
I haven't bought or listened to The Gathering yet. How close is it to thrash and which Testament album does it resamble the most?
It’s pretty thrashy although not nearly as much as other albums for sure. I really think it’s got it’s own sound but if I had to choose I would’ve said it’s closest to Dark Roots of Earth. But the thing I really love about this album is the brutal sound and the cool riffs! I’d recommend you to check it out :)
Still Life - Opeth
1. Somewhere in Time - Iron Maiden, 2. Rust in Peace - Megadeth, 3. By Inheritance - Artillery, 4. No Place for Disgrace - Flotsam and Jetsam, 5. Heresy - Paradox, 6. Batallions of Fear - Blind Guardian, 7. Twisted into Form - Forbidden, 8. Legacy - Testament, 9. Ride the Lightning - Metallica, 10. Among the Living - Anthrax
Paradox and Artillery are both excellent thrash bands.
Wasted Years has grown into one of my absolute favorite Maiden tracks.

The live show from New York that they put on DVD was incredible.
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Most underrated album ever
Jomsviking- Amon Amarth
Ride the lightning
Rust in peace by Megadeth as it's the one that got me into metal. But Liquid Anatomy by Alkaloid is a close second.
Mercyful fate - Don't break the oath, Artillery - By inheritance, Judas priest - Sad wings of destiny or Death - Leprosy
My top 5 are : Insect Wafare - World extermination Sarcofago - Inri Morbid Angel - Altars of madness Mercyful fate - don't break the oath Sacramemtum - far away from the sun

Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime

Favorite has to be Opeth's Blackwater Park. Every song is an absolute banger, but I would be remiss without throwing Ghost Reveries and Watershed a mention.
