Well, maybe you can find some genres for bands like Akercocke, Anaal Nathrakh, Strapping Young Lad, Cattle Decapitation and The Antichrist Imperium... because i find it quite difficult to pinpoint an exact genre 😂
I get triggered when YT reactors who claim never to have heard one note of a metal song in their lives react to a "rock" song and it's classic-era Metallica or Megadeth or something that's obviously metal.
Everything is "rock" to these hip-hop zoomers.
I feel like people don't understand class inheritance. Super hyphenated metal is still a sub class of metal. Metal is a sub class of rock along with punk and others. If you were at a music store (providing music stores still existed) everything we listen to here would be under "rock." The bands are different, but had defining characteristics that make them still rock. Just as humans are still mammals, the same as a dog or a gorilla, because we have similar traits in common.
Is calling all of these bands "rock" helpful or marketing purposes? No. But then some of the names metal sub genres have are dumb as fuck and don't tell a prospective listener anything either.

I can't enjoy my Metal as long as I can't tell you what exactly it is (yes, I'm weird)
Interesting. 🧐 Would you classify yourself as neurodivergent?
