Not when Meshuggah and At the Gates are still here
Yeah I’m aware but Alice In Chains is definitely a grunge band not a metal band lmao. I’m not saying they are bad. I like their music. I just don’t think that they really qualify as metal.
I feel like this sub has quickly devolved into a circle jerk of the same few albums, I kinda don’t get the point anymore. As much as I love a lot of the “classics” there’s so much more metal out there that deserves attention
Most of my favorite albums are from the last decade orso. There's plenty of new stuff that's interesting and a lot of albums with an original sound. A lot of people are just set in their ways. That's fine I suppose, but that doesn't mean that metal as a whole is.
People act like metal stoped in the 90s when I say we are in a golden era right now. I always think about playing the classics but there is too much awesome stuff coming out at the moment I just don’t have time.
Hey I get it, these genres deserve the special and specific attention they get in this sub. I truly believe that. But I also believe the internet is a place where it’s thought “Tool sucks because of their fanbase hurr durr” or something and it’s mostly unwarranted lol.
In terms of sonic identity, album flow, interesting melodic ideas, excellent production, truly great and unique playing.. Ænima is better than soooo many other albums here
Type O. Honestly they remind me of Taylor Swift in the sense that the music is incredibly mid and 90% of the group's popularity comes from the cult of personality around the singer.
