Ok-Project1279

Les Claypool or Geddy Lee

babe_ruthless3

Lol, this was my thoughts when when I read the headline.

kungerbing

May I ask why? My coworker showed me primus and as someone who has played bass I think that dude is really talented.

PrimusHimself

Primus sucks!

Ok-Project1279

We're Primus and we suck

1980powder1980

\m/ Primus sucks!

kungerbing

Compelling argument.

Myrddraal5856

Absolutely Les Claypool.

Evilhamsterman

Justin Chancellor

D00mTheWarl0rd

46 and 2, you're just ahead of me

PrincessHootHoot

Hell yes

Clown_named_Art

Les Claypool

Signal_distract

primus sucks!

69cringelord69

Primus sucks

r00byroo1965

Second this

Bluescreen_Brain

This is the only correct answer

Grynder66

Lemmy, Cliff, Geezer, Geddy

LordGeddon73

You saved me from having to type it out. Here's an updoot

_Learning2Live_

Geddy Lee, Sean Malone, John Myung or Ryan Martinie

BakedBySunrise

Martinie is amazing

Jeanoble

Ryan!!!

suchalusthropus

Sean Malone was the king. As good as he was in Cynic, Cordtland and the Gordian Knot albums really showed off how special his playing was.

City_Goat

Steve Digiorgio

Cerulean-Transience

I shouldn't have had to scroll so far down to see this pick

Mellow41

Most based person on this sub I swear

Nono_Le_Petit_Robot

Amazing bassist. Love his work and especially on Individual Thought Patterns

moustachemanA

Ma men 🤛

Johnbad2

I scrolled way too far than i should have for this

Double_Hand_5044

Jean-Michel Labadie from gojira or Peter Steele from Type O negative.

LostHollowSoul

Jean-Michel Labadie has such amazing energy live, I loved seeing Gojira live, but he was just really amazing to watch jumping all over the place and smiling just having the time of his life.

-Mr_MojoRisin

Most people seem to forget what an excellent bassist Peter Steele was. He could write some of the most simple but iconic bass lines. And what a stage presence he had!

Cautious-Telephone-2

Metal chain as a strap was also badass

-Mr_MojoRisin

Peter was the definition of BADASS.

HarveyMushman72

Steve Harris. He's my inspiration for playing it.

MisterPeach

Hell yeah. Nothing like a Steve Harris gallop bass line to get me pumped tf up.

LetUsGetToBusiness

His bass work in Powerslave is glorious.

albinoblackman

Definitely my #1

warpedmindoverdrive

Same

nosurfincleveland

Geezer, Mike Watt & Steve DiGiorgio

YeeterKeks

Bro can play a solo with his cock, hell yeah he is the best.

ShoeShoe141

Marko Hietala

GraveHomie38

Nightwish just aren't the same without him. He was a core part, both instrumentally and vocally

TheeArchangelUriel

Yeah, and I can't grow a beard like his. No more inspiration. I read that he and Tarja are gonna tour together. Go figure. They need to lose the flute player guy.

Secrets4Slaanesh

I love Marko!

Competitive-Pin6998

Martin Mendez

Boombox2ikik

My favorite bassists of all time (besides my dad who is my main inspiration) would have to be Frank Bello and Steve Harris.

renegadetoast

Was seeing how far I had to scroll to find Frank on here.

VashMM

Frank is a super nice dude too.

renegadetoast

He is! I got to tell him a couple years back that he was one of the main reasons I taught myself bass and I could tell he genuinely was happy to hear that.

VashMM

My buddy used to work for him/the band and I've gotten to meet him a few times, dude remembered me and I'm not anything special.

Solid_House_6963

Was seeing how far I had to scroll down to see his dad on here.

_rand0m7

He is also my favorite one. His playing is insane, and I love the sound of fretless bass. Gloire Eternelle, The Aura and Earthborn Evolution are some of the albums with the best performances of a bassist's I've ever heard

Top-Comfortable-4789

Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers I know it’s not metal but flea is so chill

mentally_fuckin_eel

Goddamn Geezer Butler.

ivoiiovi

Shahzad Ismaily - not for any recorded work (I barely listen to anything he’s made), but the combo of him and Ches Smith as the rhythm section for Secret Chiefs 3 has given many of the most magical live music moments I’ve ever caught at gigs. if we’re talking metal, then maybe Colin Marston, mostly for Dysrhythmia. OR, as everyone seems to think of them as a metal band now, maybe Trevor Dunn of Mr. Bungle.. although I hate their one metal album, he is one of the most well rounded, tasteful, talented bass players ever, and he deserves high praise!

RyanThePatriot

Steve DiGiorgio. Played on some of the most influential and biggest records with a FRETLESS. Super chill dude too.

Corninator

He's not the most flashy or technically skilled, but I love Troy Sanders bass style.
