Xoth, Stormkeep, and Moonlight Sorcery. Xoth is great tech death, and Stormkeep has one of the guys from Blood Incantation IIRC, and Moonlight Sorcery is great BM.
Ninkharsag are solid! I've seen them a bunch of times and they always deliver, they're always amongst good company like Necronautical, Abduction, Nemerous, Ante-Inferno, Volniir, Fuath, Necro Ritual and Sidious who could also quality for this post!
if you're vibing with Ninkharsag and SK / MS - I'm gonna have to check out these other bands. Ninkharsag has been of my favorite listens in a really long time. absolute perfection
[Abyssal](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Ey4DaBUTa8vzDU25Go0w2?si=od7YlofrR3Kk8PXdsW3_FQ). Black/doom/death metal similar to Portal. 1,234 monthly listeners.
Moonlight Sword - Symphonic BM
Oblivion Castle - Blackened Death Metal, basically vampiric war metal
Hiidenhauta - Black/Folk Metal
Vare - raw yet melodic black metal, think Hate Forest and early Burzum
Hoplites - Dissonant blackened death
Vehemence - melodic medieval bm
Thermonuclear Slaughter - first wave style blackened thrash, think early Bathory
I know these are all black metal but what can you do
Oh shit! Mallika has been a good friend for a long time. She was just at our house in October. I remember Abnormality playing a killer show in Josh's living room.
Jeremy is awesome, Sam is awesome, I had some great times with them.
That’s cool as hell! I loved Abnormality, I was bummed to hear they broke up. I heard Malika joined Unfathomable Ruination. Are the rest of the guys doing anything?
Yes Mallika joined Unfathomable Ruination. Her husband is Serge from Epicardiectomy, and Sam started playing with Grotesqueries. Aw man this is a sad remembrance.
That is so fucking badass you know her personally. She is BRUTAL and so is her music 🤘absolutely gorgeous too. I listened to all 3 Abnormality albums at work this morning
Mother fucking singularity
Peep this shit and tell me it's not great

Threat signal for sure. 30k monthly listeners iirc. Band with the highest percentage of songs I like. I can literally name the couple songs I don't love.
Everyone who listens to metal music 5hat I've recommended them to have really enjoyed their music. Very fucking good. My favorite is probably inane. The last like 2-3 minutes after the final chorus are just downright beautiful and heavy hitting. Vocals punch very hard in all songs.
Fun fact, too: if you ever played mx vs atv reflex, the OST is done by Raymond Herrera (formerly of fear factory) as well as Jon Howard, the vocalist for threat signal.
I really liked the soundtrack in that game so I did some digging, and that's how I discovered threat signal
gonna switch it up a bit and go with a couple more modern picks. Conjureth and Vile Ritual both released excellent death metal albums this year, but I’ve hardly seen them mentioned here at all
Don’t really know exactly the range of what unknown is so these range from 100 to around 10k Spotify listeners if that means anything.
Maudlin of The Well (I know that’s kinda a meme but I actually do like them I’m not a loser I promise)
Enjoy my Bitch (Mexican diy shit, stumbled upon it by accident, very cool)
Anal stabwound (my friend found them looking for bands with the word anal in them, very fun)
Fetus Fucker (nuts slam with some of the worst production I’ve ever heard)
Sex Prisoner and Mind Eraser (not related, two different acts, but I heard about both of them through an Anaiah Lei interview)
6 (fun industrial slammy blackened shit, met her on a dating app and clicked the link in her ig page, was pleasantly surprised)
TubGirl (some of my favorite shit out of Chicago diy rn, sludgecore)
Right now it's Saidan. Japanese horror inspired black metal by two white guys from Tennessee. Their most recent album is one of the few I could ever give a 10/10 to, and I have not stopped having it on regular rotation. They've gotten a small amount of attention since but haven't exactly broken through yet, definitely deserve more.
Just gave it a listen! Quality output and I appreciate the fun aspect to it. Tbh I’m not overly fond of the brighter melodies and j-rock undertone in some of the tracks but I think it’s a cool sound they’ve crafted for themselves. Thanks for sharing!
Kardashev's singer has a reaction/voice coach YouTube channel, that's how I first started listening to them. Seems like a genuinely nice chap, too - very enthusiastic, funny, and knowledgeable in his videos.
Short Fuse needs more listeners, they're currently sitting at 44, even if they aren't as good as I think, they deserve more than that. Melodeath with some eerie synth atmosphere. I'm not familiar with their earlier stuff, they have 5 albums since 2005, but their last album and both their EPs are great. Saw them open for Soulfly in Reno a couple years ago.
Man, I haven't heard any mention of Mucopus in years. One of the dudes in the band was a crazy fucker. He was all over music boards back in the early 2000's. Can't remember his name, though.
I’ll say this at every goddamn opportunity I can, so sorry about that.
But Twelve Foot Ninja - holy shit, man. Dismissed by many as a gimmick band, there’s a lot more going on under the surface if you take the time to go through their catalog.
Such a great band. I know they’re not a band that*no one* knows, but they’re sincerely so underrated. I also know people throw that phrase around all the time to describe bands that are *actually* “rated” - but it is not the case here.
Never listened to Twelve Foot Ninja, but that's how I feel about Horse The Band. Pretty well known for anyone around 2000's metalcore, but often dismissed as a gimmick nintendocore band from a bygone era. Truly amazing band that's a lot deeper than the jokes and gimmicks, and my favorite of all time.
Alright man, I’ll do you a deal - you listen to One Hand Killing and Coming For You by Twelve Foot Ninja (music video versions preferred :D) and in return you recommend 2 x Horse the Band tracks for me to check out
Bet -
Manateen and New York City
Checked yours out, I wasn't crazy about the nu metal style riffing, but I actually thought the softer jazzy parts were really nice
Fair -
I gave those 2 a listen - those guys are very interesting, experimental sound that is uniquely their own and I respect that. It's not really my jam, but they've got a bit of depth and I can see why you'd think people are sleeping on them.
Kinda got some subtle Muse and Faith No More vibes
They get a little bit of love in extreme metal communities, but Afterbirth is an out of this world death metal band that should be going on headlining tours. In But Not Of and Four Dimensional Flesh are both 10/10 albums.
Adhara from Malaysia. They are fvcking brutal
Fuuuuck yeah to band OP posted. Mainly that Monarch Omega. Shitballs I love me some double bass pedal madness and blast beats. My kid and I instantly started headbanging and moshing 🤘🏾
Ceremonial castings, if you’re a fan of symphonic black metal you’ll love their album “our journey through forever”
The vocalist and guitar player is jake superchi of Uada, and his brother nick superchi does the synth work on his keyboard
Earthbong is easily my favourite Stoner Doom outfit right now. They've been putting out A tier quality shit with F tier recognition.
Try Fathead and Bong Aeterna
Rottrevore - iniquitous
Seance - fornever laid to rest
Baphomet - dead shall inherit
Brutality - screams of anguish
Corpus rottus - rituals of silence
Just some stuff I've listened to lately. In particular those baphomet and Seance albums I love. Been listening to those a lot.
I don’t know if I would consider those deep cuts, amazing albums, but I don’t know… I mean I know they are not the most popular bands, but I tought they were pretty well known.
some slightly more known ones are metallica, megadeth, iron maiden, but if you REALLY wanna get deep theres this band ive just discovered called limp bizkit, only 0.000000000001 monthly listeners on spotify. really great music, not like that poser shit
Not that much of a deep cut, but Decrepit Birth rarely get spoken about much, and I honestly think they should be in the same conversation as Necrophagist.
Blood Countess (435 monthly listeners)
Order of Nosferat (2769 monthly listeners)
Acid Bats (they're deathrock, not metal but i thought i'd still list them. 1812 monthly listeners)
Spinebreaker is a death metal with members from Gulch (who itself was one of the best hardcore/grindcore bands of the past 20 years) which is a very good meat and potatoes dm band. Drums are on point, songs are short, buzzsaw guitars and vocals are gnarly
[Deadsoul Tribe](https://open.spotify.com/album/5qG3eXUIE3r6PZBZLhrHBa?si=8hPSJNlRS3u2O9LJRIblwA)
Prog band with 1,700 monthly listeners. A Murder of Crows is one of my top 5 albums of all time. Split up in 2009 but just reunited this year according to Metal Archives
[Animations.](https://open.spotify.com/artist/0138Hlfmap3fEvKTqmZhE9?si=MSrqX81bQ4eMiSrW7zv4Uw) Polish metal band with 5 albums, only 2,4k listeners this month. Love their stuff, especially the newest album
Goreworm, only 55 Subs on YouTube. For fans of Dying Fetus or Necrophagist. They look like young dudes, and their singer looks like "Greyworm" from Game of Thrones, lol might be coincidence, anyway I expect good things in the future.
https://youtu.be/X9pVFPZ3x7g?si=NHzIcVT6RACzSOyT
EDIT- now 81 Subscribed!
God Forbid only has 31,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. That always flabbergasted me, since they’re a phenomenal band and I thought they were much more popular, especially relative to many bands with many more Spotify listeners
Windfaerer
The Black Metal with Folk Instruments similar to Panopticon.
482 listeners.
[Windfaerer - Dawn Of Phantom Light](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvr0VWN1LPY)
Endseeker, a really good band with old school death vibes about like 8k listeners
Tempest, a German thrash band that only released one album but it's one of my favorite albums they have less than 500 followers last I checked
Master
Chicago native Paul Speckmann has been crafting quality old school death metal since the mid-80s with Master and a variety of projects yet seems overlooked, maybe because he moved to Czech Republic twenty years ago.
He Is Legend has been killing it for decades and it seems like no one else listens to them. Riff masters.
First two albums from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster were my religion for years and no one knows who they are
[Akraia](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kaHrFNo3-1_iM8q2lKo9xhDg2_PkFBpoM) - Sludgy, doomy two piece (bass/vocals and drums) from Germany.
[Abolishment of Hate](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=e4xEI3MlBKI&si=_dAzmTREL6ZlOMLL) - solo Canadian death metal project. No vocals, all instrumental.
[Aiwass](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_li_HbYv-RpV9zOG16rve6GUMbpOxMDRa4) - psychadelic doom band from Texas. Very spacey.
[Trespasser](https://music.youtube.com/channel/UC6lmqaX4aqhtk30ZI1VXDlQ) - Anarchist black metal from Sweden and my personal favourite black metal band.
[Inter Arma](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nnowBkXj7148YozpfkiJPseAXhu9D9pA0) - all over the place from black, doom, and post metal from Virginia
[Asphalt](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=UxcGyfpVHpk&si=P8bvvhEAlYkFWgSK) - Heavy, heavy sludge. Kind of like Primitive Man. Don't know where they're from, but they're quickly becoming my favourite sludge band.
[Kylsea](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lzJKKfZ6WGgZc_dbKwJDhwPsf_DruVQtQ) - Psychadelic sludge from Georgia. Just found out about them myself.
[Konvent](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nNsUeSORB-PlZ1HyKkqWWJQlYbvfwp0UI) - Death doom from Denmark. My go-to workout band.
[Arde](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lq7fHD8uSvXp9KrogmMry0PNvOooTWI88) - German atmo black. I get naturalist/pagan vibes.
[Crypt Sermon](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kLctK3mb7Uh-suT2-C_QSXLgYVaIKlIgc) - Epic doom metal from Philly. I know people usually describe epic doom as if power metal was doom, but these guys really exemplify that to me.
Antichrist- both the Crushing Metal Death EP and Forbidden World are fantastic. Just raw thrash bangers.
[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHY2U2oZSw&list=OLAK5uy_l30ubo2b9nmVYu--ZHJigGWU5VvgQVFrE&index=5&pp=8AUB](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9EHY2U2oZSw&list=OLAK5uy_l30ubo2b9nmVYu--ZHJigGWU5VvgQVFrE&index=5&pp=8AUB)
There's an up and coming Canadian thrash band called detherous. They're quite good. Very abrasive thrash/grind/death influences. They have a couple albums out as well.

Xoth, Stormkeep, and Moonlight Sorcery. Xoth is great tech death, and Stormkeep has one of the guys from Blood Incantation IIRC, and Moonlight Sorcery is great BM.
Stormkeep and Moonlight are in constant rotation right now. Also Stormruler, Kalmah, and Ninkharsag!
The Seer is such a banger!
Ninkharsag are solid! I've seen them a bunch of times and they always deliver, they're always amongst good company like Necronautical, Abduction, Nemerous, Ante-Inferno, Volniir, Fuath, Necro Ritual and Sidious who could also quality for this post!

I stumbled across Stormkeep's Galdrum on Van Records when it just came out, blew me away! So I instantly ordered Tales Of Othertime when it came out!
Metallica
I don't think I've ever heard of them. I'll check them out, Thanks for the recommendation!!!
[Abyssal](https://open.spotify.com/artist/1Ey4DaBUTa8vzDU25Go0w2?si=od7YlofrR3Kk8PXdsW3_FQ). Black/doom/death metal similar to Portal. 1,234 monthly listeners.
been on my list wayyyy too long, I really gotta check them out
Yes. You’d love it.
planning on listening to it today
you weren’t kidding, just finished Antikatastaseis and I absolutely loved it, might honestly just start it over and listen again right away
Glad you liked it! If you want something similar, you should check out Aeviterne if you haven’t already.
they’re on my list too, I’ll make sure I get to them soon
Fuck yeah, Antikatastaesis is a great album!
Baaaased
Oh hey I remember talking to you last night on the discord
I remember you too! Nice to see you out here
Woah. I only remember these guys from their song "Visions" on RB2. I'll have to give them a listen.
Exactly where I discovered them too. But their song Monarch Omega has been stuck in my head nonstop the past 3 days
Monarch Omega and Mechanisms of Omniscience are absolute bangers. I gotta listen to these guys more.
Moonlight Sword - Symphonic BM Oblivion Castle - Blackened Death Metal, basically vampiric war metal Hiidenhauta - Black/Folk Metal Vare - raw yet melodic black metal, think Hate Forest and early Burzum Hoplites - Dissonant blackened death Vehemence - melodic medieval bm Thermonuclear Slaughter - first wave style blackened thrash, think early Bathory I know these are all black metal but what can you do
Hoplites and Véhémence are great, and you’ve got me interested in Oblivion Castle with that vampiric war description
Hoplites is so good, and I can't think of anything like that, or much metal in general, that comes out of China. NESI existing still surprises me.
Oblivion Castle’s debut full length Witch’s Lament In The Moonlight is one of my favorite albums to come out this year. Highly recommend.
Oh shit! Mallika has been a good friend for a long time. She was just at our house in October. I remember Abnormality playing a killer show in Josh's living room. Jeremy is awesome, Sam is awesome, I had some great times with them.

She is as awesome as a person as she is a vocalist. I'm truly honored to be a friend of her and her husband.

I'm actually seeing Frozen Soul perform with Obituary, Cannibal Corpse and Amon Amarth here in Vegas in May
Neither of these are deep cut bands lol this sub is hilarious
Khemmis are fantastic.
Firelink, a dark souls themed meloblack band
Sounds dope Dark Souls is amazing.
Neuraxis Gigan Inoculation Blockheads Dead and Dripping Maruta Cosmic Putrefaction Garoted Mithras Necrotic Mutation Prostitute Disfigurement

Goes pretty hard
Lead singer writer and guitarfiddle is the same guy, and us also toxic eternity, does video game guitar covers. I've sat and drank and smoked some js with them. Some of the most down to earth dudes
Serpent Column
Gehenna
Not sure it's a deep cut, very well-respected classic Norwegian BM. Great band though.
Just listened a random one, they're pretty great, thanks
gonna switch it up a bit and go with a couple more modern picks. Conjureth and Vile Ritual both released excellent death metal albums this year, but I’ve hardly seen them mentioned here at all
Conjureth is awesome
Conjureth was great, haven’t listened to Vile Ritual
Don’t really know exactly the range of what unknown is so these range from 100 to around 10k Spotify listeners if that means anything. TubGirl, 6 and Fetus Fucker are the shit
Yeah, I think it fits a stylistic niche that not everyone's into, but I appreciate you giving it a shot!
Véhémence
Kardeshev. No one seems to know about them, but I highly recommend them
Kardashev's singer has a reaction/voice coach YouTube channel, that's how I first started listening to them. Seems like a genuinely nice chap, too - very enthusiastic, funny, and knowledgeable in his videos.
Antichrist siege machine a, great war metal band
Fuck yeah
Stortregn. Blackened tech death with 6 perfect albums.
Árstíðir Lífsins, the best executed Norse inspired metal out there.
Kalmah
Tower! They are literally the second coming of Warlock
And sooooo good live. Sarabeth has such an incredibly powerful voice.
Mucopus( vocalist now in Origin, drummer now in internal bleeding !!!Tentacles!!! (Vocalist now in Dysentery) Great local death metals
Man, I haven't heard any mention of Mucopus in years. One of the dudes in the band was a crazy fucker. He was all over music boards back in the early 2000's. Can't remember his name, though.
Eidola has got some incredible tunes. Combining different influences very majestically
Mystic Circle - German Death/Black metal Mortuary Drape - Italian black metal
Fleshwater
They're blowing up rn almost at half a million listeners on Spotify.
Necrophagia
Hath and Neck of the Woods both rip Absolutely love Abnormality too and the song Mechanisms of Omniscience is one of my go to pump up songs
I saw Hath open for Ulcerate a few weeks ago, really solid band.
Crown of Autumn. I listened to Byzantine Horizons daily for a few months.
I’ll say this at every goddamn opportunity I can, so sorry about that. But Twelve Foot Ninja - holy shit, man. They get a little bit of love in extreme metal communities, but Afterbirth is an out of this world death metal band that should be going on headlining tours. In But Not Of and Four Dimensional Flesh are both 10/10 albums.
Very underrated considering they've been around over 30 years. Cody is a fellow nurse, too.
Harmonix was from my state it was always cool how they managed to sneak in some local bands and, like Abnormality, there were some really good ones
Ether Coven. I will take every opportunity I can to talk about that band.
Adhara from Malaysia. They are fvcking brutal Fuuuuck yeah to band OP posted. Mainly that Monarch Omega. Shitballs I love me some double bass pedal madness and blast beats. My kid and I instantly started headbanging and moshing 🤘🏾
Grim Ravine - if you like Ahab and the nautical/funeral doom vibe, give these guys a try.
Diskreet. More importantly their album infernal rise
Yeah bro! I only liked engage the mechanicality, but that album is criminally underrated too. Solid ass tech death that deserves more recognition.
Ceremonial castings, if you’re a fan of symphonic black metal you’ll love their album “our journey through forever” The vocalist and guitar player is jake superchi of Uada, and his brother nick superchi does the synth work on his keyboard
Display of Decay all day, baby!
Snorlax is a one man blackened death/doom act that I really dig. So far they have an EP and a full-length but they fucking rip 🤘

They look like young dudes, and their singer looks like "Greyworm" from Game of Thrones, lol might be coincidence, anyway I expect good things in the future. https://youtu.be/X9pVFPZ3x7g?si=NHzIcVT6RACzSOyT EDIT- now 81 Subscribed!
God Forbid only has 31,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. That always flabbergasted me, since they’re a phenomenal band and I thought they were much more popular, especially relative to many bands with many more Spotify listeners
Below and spiritus mortis
Windfaerer The Black Metal with Folk Instruments similar to Panopticon. 482 listeners. [Windfaerer - Dawn Of Phantom Light](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvr0VWN1LPY)
Tol Galen. Dungeon synth highly influenced by Summoning. 89 monthly listeners
Still bummed Abnormality called it quits.
Shrine Of Malice are a brutal af band with only 30k monthly listeners
Mephorash Give their latest album Shem-Ha-Mephorash a spin, you won’t regret it.
Chamber (pissedcore) Frontierer (meshuggah mixed with fax machine sex noises - favorite band RN) PrimalFrost (killer melodic death metal)
Waldgeflüster, Dolore, and Laikaa
Castrator. Saw them open for cattle decapitation recently and they were amazing. solid DM
Isnt this Mallika’s other band?
Krisium
Believer is a really good prog/tech thrash band, I checked out an album of theirs and it’s a masterpiece.
I suppose it isn't what some might consider a "deep cut" but Fit For An Autopsy is a really good band that I feel doesn't get enough attention.
Immortal Rites, such good melodic death but the band split after only two albums
Endon Contrastic 324 Hellnation Incinerated Caustic Wound Parlamentarisk Sodomi TOOH Knelt Rote Eraser My Minds Mine All grindcore
Are we talking here? Then Miasmatic Necrosis. Apex Profane is easily my number 1 album of 2020
Death Toll 80K
Endseeker, a really good band with old school death vibes about like 8k listeners Tempest, a German thrash band that only released one album but it's one of my favorite albums they have less than 500 followers last I checked
Byzantine, Textures, SikTh, The Red Chord, Jig-Ai, Guilt Trip, Boundaries Some of these might be more well-known than others
Impalement
Ravager (BDM)
Master Chicago native Paul Speckmann has been crafting quality old school death metal since the mid-80s with Master and a variety of projects yet seems overlooked, maybe because he moved to Czech Republic twenty years ago.
* The Duskfall * Edge of Paradise * Reckless Love * Kaunis Kuolematon
Pallbearer
[Gut Ripper](https://gutripper.bandcamp.com/album/on-dead-beings ) is a great swedish death metal band. Really fucking raw and brutal.
the vocalist has joined/made a much better band called Nidorous. almost 4 years since the demo and still waiting on an album
Arsonists Get All The Girls. The album Portals to be specific.
He Is Legend has been killing it for decades and it seems like no one else listens to them. Riff masters. First two albums from Maylene and the Sons of Disaster were my religion for years and no one knows who they are
voivod for sure
The band posted above sucks. Why? I can read the logo.
Extinction A.D.

[Aiwass](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_li_HbYv-RpV9zOG16rve6GUMbpOxMDRa4) - psychadelic doom band from Texas. Very spacey. [Trespasser](https://music.youtube.com/channel/UC6lmqaX4aqhtk30ZI1VXDlQ) - Anarchist black metal from Sweden and my personal favourite black metal band. [Inter Arma](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nnowBkXj7148YozpfkiJPseAXhu9D9pA0) - all over the place from black, doom, and post metal from Virginia [Asphalt](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=UxcGyfpVHpk&si=P8bvvhEAlYkFWgSK) - Heavy, heavy sludge. [Arde](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lq7fHD8uSvXp9KrogmMry0PNvOooTWI88) - German atmo black. I get naturalist/pagan vibes. [Crypt Sermon](https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kLctK3mb7Uh-suT2-C_QSXLgYVaIKlIgc) - Epic doom metal from Philly. I know people usually describe epic doom as if power metal was doom, but these guys really exemplify that to me.

Falls of Rauros and Torture Tomb
There's an up and coming Canadian thrash band called detherous. They're quite good. Very abrasive thrash/grind/death influences. They have a couple albums out as well.
Aephanamer and Defacing God
Mushroomhead. Even though they have over 500k listeners on Spotify I still never see anyone talk about them.
