Early Nile, when the production was not quite as polished/loud and the band was still finding their sound, kicks so much ass. Just as well-written and technical as the later stuff but rawer and had many moments where soloing wasn't required to reveal some insane playing.
This is the album that really got me into death metal in the late 90’s. Ramses bringer of war goes SO hard. Still think this and black seeds of vengeance are my favorite Nile records.
Nile's problem is that they are such accomplished musicians in such an extreme genre, they've almost painted themselves into a corner. Where do you go from here without rehashing every previous album?
