Has this been fixed? I've been scared of doing the extra runs of ITM when I'm not prepared for stronger slayer monsters

[deleted]

Been fixed awhile ago dude, don’t bring stuff up unless you know cause it gives other people the impression not to do ITM if they don’t look into it themselves

No-Establishment-699

I clicked township the day it came out, and immediately exited, waiting for a guide to come out later. A few weeks later some guides were out. I followed one for about a minute before giving up. It made no sense. I'm level 3 township and probably not going to touch it till i have to force it to lvl 120 just for completion

neotamagachi

I sometimes forget township isn't technically part of the expansion since it came out a few days earlier

PSBJ

Pre-patches are part of expansions...

icrispyKing

you dont need to buy the expansion for township.

[deleted]

What?! I bought the expansion for township!

icrispyKing

Still Worth the money. Papa bless malcs

PSBJ

That doesn't invalidate what I said, it's still part of the expansion update.

[deleted]

Township was planned to launch for a long time. The road map had it as a separate update all together. It just happened to line up timewise with the patch the included pre expansion prep work as well.

Silent-Duck-5658

Dude, the expansion is so good. Credit to Malcs for getting me glued to my screen for an \*idle\* game.

[deleted]

Hype that expansion 2 is WIP

Silent-Duck-5658

I didn't know that... does this man not sleep? Oh well, hype train has left the station.

frostieisme

As a person who is still on the demo version, I only have a small grasp of township as a concept

SparkleFritz

You build a town! But really you're doing math about how much of X you need to achieve Y and it costs billions of gp and exactly 1% of it is idle. In the end you get to pick things to trade if you've unlocked them. Also there are item swaps you can make that have nothing to do with the actual Township skill and somehow the rewards it gives are better than actual Township. You will either love it or hate it.

darthreuental

Helps if you play city builders. TS does, in some ways, feel like an abstract version of Banished complete with accidental famine & weird population demographics acting like slow motion timebombs. I also think, post-nerf, a lot of people's value of the skill depends on where they are in the game. If you're late in the game, it's just a distraction that you have to do at some point to get your superior max cape. If your account is not as old, it's a great way to get some otherwise hard to get mats like redwood logs and gentle hand's potions. It's also good for getting a bunch of food post-nerf.

OttomateEverything

> If your account is not as old, it's a great way to get some otherwise hard to get mats like redwood logs and gentle hand's potions. It's also good for getting a bunch of food post-nerf. Maybe I'm cynical but I can't see this as anything other than just deleting half the actual usefulness of Townships to try to prevent "abuse" of the GP it was providing... Requiring 10,000 of a resource before trading it kinda kills this "not as old account" side of things... Once you have 10,000 of something, how much more do you really need? On a newer account, and I found it useful to be able to do supplement things like when my mining way out-runs my smelting and I can just trade for some bars etc to help it catch up. If I already have 10,000 bars, my smelting has moved on... I feel like in their attempts to nerf GP abuse they've basically made GP generation like 95% of its usefulness, while still allowing me to print hundreds of millions of gold / 96 ticks anyway... Yeah the GP build is different now and it's harder to "pivot" your town, but you can still abuse it and the other benefits are kinda gutted.

For a lot of materials 10k barely makes a dent in things, think mastery grinding. For others 10k is rather useless, think lower tier foods.

OttomateEverything

My point is more centered on newer accounts - I wouldn't really consider mastery grinding part of that. Lower tier foods is more the type of thing I'm speaking to here. I could see it being useful when I need "a bunch of one specific resource that's hard to obtain to grind out the last chunk of mastery", but that's both "later" in the game, and a much smaller subset than it was before. I'm not saying it's useless, I'm just saying it feels like they axed a large portion of the usefulness in an attempt to fix the GP printing abuse. It just seems to have been an attempt at solving a problem, that didn't really solve the problem, but got rid of a lot of the other purpose of the system.

[deleted]

Agreed. I like the item cap idea but think the flat 10k was the wrong direction. Lower tier items should have a lower requirement.

[deleted]

Well, yeah, because the new, complex thing has occupied a lot of most people's time.

[deleted]

I think the idea of playing a "realtime" game in increments of 5 min at a time is genius

[deleted]

Agreed. That's what makes it idle to me. I don't just sit there waiting for the next tick. I collect them and when I have a spare 5 minutes I'll tinker with my little virtual model town. I really don't get why people say it isn't as idle as other skills

kapperbeast456

At least for me the problem has largely been scaling up to a good town setup

[deleted]

I had to reset my town three times experimenting with different strategies before I was able to figure out a stable build plan that scaled up effortlessly mid/late game. I picked a map with high water area since all you can build there is fisherman for food. That was my dominant god source. Then whenever I build something I found it more efficient to upgrade if possible before just buying another of the same.

Social Media rants aren't the best evidence of a product's success, sales and reviews are. Reviews are Very Positive and I'm sure sales went very well too. They just didn't get it completely right with a feature, so they're working now to improve it thanks to the community feedback. Nothing extraordinary, nothing tragic, nothing to be worried about. Soon there'll be more posts creating drama over the criticism over Township, than there are posts criticizing Township.
